Prairie View Virtual Campus Tour

hey everybody welcome to prairie adam university thank you for tuning in to our virtual walking tour i'm going to be one of your hosts jonathan mckisson i serve as one of the campus engagement coordinators here at the prairie adam university and i want to welcome you all to the welcome center but i am absolutely not by myself i couldn't do this all alone welcome to the hill those luscious medals of purple and gold my name is hayward saint claire senior university recruiter we're glad that you're here come on with us we're about to take you on a tour awesome so this is our newly erected welcome center it's part of the office of enrollment management this is actually where we conduct all of our campus tours and some of our unique campus events so come walk through and come show you so we have our reception area so as students come and check in for the campus store we help them with that we also have a beautiful hallway entering into the welcome center so you can come here and view videos we also have an interactive campus map on our screen so if you ever want to learn more about a particular building you can do so come on in so we have our beautiful literature on the walls so we always encourage you to come and read and learn more about the hill which you will do so on our walking tour we have our restaurant facilities as well so before you get to go on your walking tour you may certainly stop over here grab a drink of water we have our office space so myself and also we have mrs walker that works in our facility as well awesome lady we love to have her so we just have a lot of information from athletics also we have the academics on the opposite side as well also as you know prairie view is a legacy so we have historical landmarks that we like to tell students of all we also have all of our principals and presidents listed here as well and then you can't just have academic without any student life so we also show you all of our student life as you see we have a lot of bunch of organizations as well and then we're going to enter into our presentation room this room holds up to 140 guests and this is where we have all our presentations while we're about to before we enter onto our beautiful campus here at prairie university so let's go ahead and get started and head outside welcome to panther plaza this is the home of the panther lanes where our swag championship lady panthers hit those pins and knock them down as you can see fully functional bowling alley this is the whole i'm for real a slice of life and the strike zone so of course we facilitate family and community fun championship bowling environment lady panthers swag champions fully functional pro shop and as we exit as with all championship teams we'll show you our championship accolades and of course here at panther plaza this is a fully functional self-contained retail environment we have a fully functional beauty supply store excellent food at the bistro 1876 and a coffee shop so when you're visiting prairie view come on down to panther plaza we'll be glad to have you one of the most impressive structure here on the campus of prairie view is the kennedy school of architecture building named after nathan kennedy and of course in case you hadn't heard she is one of the main figures in architecture here in the city of houston as you can see she had her hand in the construction of minutemaid park the toyota center the houston light rail harris county parking garage for the downtown as well as the shreveport city convention center come on let's go inside and see some of the projects in our future architectural students are engaged in in case you didn't know prairie view and university is the number one school in producing minority architects in the nation again we are the number one producer of minority architects in the nation and as you can see our students are fully engaged in architecture this is also the home of our digital media arts so for those of you that are interested in graphic arts graphic designs we can accommodate that for you as well here in the kennedy building school of architecture so come on let's go to our fabrication center it's the newest edition here on the campus of prairie view this allows our students to make 3d replicas of the projects that they're engaged in you always wonder what's in the mind of an architect as you can see is design design design our students also create sustainable goods which is the new wave in construction [Music] and off in the distance you can see our observatories the extension of the college of liberal arts the brailsford college and the entrance path to our 3d fabrication you can notice the intricate detail in itself is an architectural wonder in our uniquely designed kennedy building here at prairie view a m university awesome so we have just left the school of architecture one of our beautifully designed buildings so now we're at the johnson phillips all face chapel here at freddy we want you to continue your faith walk whether you're coming from the houston area anywhere else in texas or in the nation for that matter and so we do have services held on wednesdays and sundays um the leader of our chapel is dean charles luter he's an excellent individual been over 20 years we love our students to come out and engage within our chapel so you continue your faith walk here and pray with you and it will continue on to our next building let's go awesome let's continue on our tour so we are here at the marvin d and june samuels bradford's college of arts and sciences it's also where our uma department is located at and i will show you soon as we go inside but before we go aside i want to highlight something very important campus safety so we have over 16 emergency call boxes here on our campus so if you're ever out walking around late at night or if you see any tragedy on campus you can certainly make a call to our emergency call boxing to go to our university police department so let's go on inside to the marvin d and june samuels bradford's college of arts and sciences the college of arts and sciences is our largest college that has over eight different majors within their college so let's continue on now that we're inside the college of arts and sciences building we are in a utility room called a101 and as you can see this is going to be one of your largest auditoriums here on campus but we like to keep our classroom sizes small with the 18 to 1 student-teacher ratio we also know that we are an encoded pandemic so we do have flyers on all of our seats to let students know like if you can sit here or you cannot so we want to be socially distanced and in an academic environment and that's going to be just for you so let's go ahead and continue on as we're leaving class and i can show you exactly where our undergraduate medical academy is located we also have our kobe 19 markets on all of our floors to make stuart and our students know that we are socially distanced we want you to stay six feet apart as i mentioned earlier this is our largest college so we do have the department of chemistry and physics we do have the department of biology mathematics labor communications as well just to name a few but we do our undergraduate medical academy and what's unique about our uma is that we have our own pre-medical library so students our students have access to a medical journals before they get to medical school and that is why we have a high percentage of our students entering to medical school right from here prairie view a m university so let's go ahead and continue on to our next building to university college this is where we house our freshman it's a self-contained unit here on the hill and we pride ourselves in being able to retain our freshmen here they have everything accommodated for them they have their advisors housed here with them the leasing office a movie theater the panther room that they can use you can see right here they have their own computer lab they have a workout center everything is self-contained here in the university college and it's situated that they're right next to their buildings that they utilize their freshman year as you'll see we'll be right behind the tallest building in waller county and i'm going to show you why they call us the hill come on as we continue on through our campus just wanted to show you how beautiful our campus is here we are still in the university college area but as we exit university college this is the john b coleman library the back part of it and then in the near distance you will see our landmark one of our landmarks the prairie view and the university water tower let's continue on stroll from university college and now we're in the john b coleman library the tallest building in walnut county so let's come on in let's take a look so we have up-to-date computers in here for students to use our periodicals section and reference section right over there to the right-hand side as well we are here to assist you seven days out of the week here in our library they are open um you can always go to the checkout desk you can check out any materials whether it's gonna be books um also just general information that you wanted to know about the library but let me show you one of the neat views of the library where i think i can go hang out there up-to-date scanners so all our books are digital ties you can just print those off right down here in this little corner is one of our eateries on campus called jasmine's cafe and so this week you can come and have coffee frappuccinos you come get a sandwich even have candy in there too and they also can get smoothies so fruit smoothies or green veggies as well we're going to head up to the third floor of the library what i want to show you is our collaborative learning environment so come take a walk with me as we head upstairs how you doing all right awesome we have made it to the third floor to the panther collaborative innovation commons come on in this is one of our newly renovated areas in our john d comic library that we're super proud of and as you enter you're gonna get that purple and go ambiance feel it as you come inside so we have our old print center similar to your kinkos or your fedex and this is where you check in at and we also have our honors college as well and as you enter you'll see famous quotes from some of our staff so here's one right here from dr ruth simmons our current president i came to understand the value of education not just to enable me to make a good living but to enable me to make a worthwhile life and a lot of people welcome to honors where you can be engaged in intellectual discussions and actually enhance your academic experience prayerview is a place for you so choose prairie thanks doc see you later taking those extra activities right over here is going to be our video studio so we also have our audio podcast studio and you can shoot your own videos right here on canvas so they're updating equipment so it should be open up next semester also there we'll continue on this way right next to our check-in desk is our av checkout so here being a laptop any certain type of cables that need to connect to you can check them out right here in this vicinity and we'll continue on a very nice open seating arrangements very beautiful furniture in here as well but the key to success in your academia is being able to go to tutor and our tutoring center is also part of our third floor of our library so the university tutoring center is going to be right over there to the right hand side so that's we can go and we offer tutoring in all of our different disciplines whether you need help in math or you need help in physics or you need help in architecture as well so it's a very very beautiful area so just want to show you our library where you will be utilizing here at prairie view a m university so let's go ahead and continue on on our watchful tour awesome wasn't that amazing so here come on let's continue on to the other side of the panther collaboration learning comedy so as you enter on this side you we have our own locker checkouts so if you have your a really big backpack or you have your laptop you want to store them away while you're coming here to do some reading or doing some group study you can do that we are big advocates for our local elementary school so h.t jones so students come and submit their artwork here to bring more to make it look more inviting as well but a key office over here is going to be the office of pre-nursing so all of my students are ready to save the world this is where you will come to get advised and get your classes situated for that upcoming semester as well and the last neat thing of our panther collaborative learning commons is our photos on the walls and all of them tell a story so students come in and they can scan the qr code they can learn more history about prairie a m university so let's continue on and right now we're at the tallest point here in waller county which is where prairie view a m university is located we're here next to the monument of coach abdul davis of gridiron great here for the panthers as you can see in the background we have the wolf better where our social and political science majors are to my left our communications building the home of kpvu fm we're also as you can see at the highest point and as we slope around you can see the crest of waller county so we're at the tallest point in water county next to the tallest building which was the library that jonathan showed you here in this part of texas and that is banks hall that's the home of our math measures so we make sure that you're totally immersed in your academic environment here at prairie view and university welcome to the yawn [Applause] here we're at one of our newest buildings on the location of prairie vietnam university this is our agriculture and business building come on let's go inside well we're now inside of the agriculture and business building where we house our business departments and the university agricultural department as you can see it's technologically advanced we have for our entrepreneur majors are ticker tape for a business course the ticker tape is always informative for those of you interested in increasing your stock portfolio and just learning the ins and outs of financing in the world so as we exit out we're going to show you some of the finer details of our building awesome we're going to continue our journey we are at may hall which holds a couple different departments so let's go inside and take a look so we have the women's center and this offices here is part of our council services so we want our women's students to have a space just for you all to interact to talk with faculty and staff um here we'll continue on down the hallway so here at frame we want our students to be very very comfortable and so if we have any of our community students or students that are living off campus we have our old commuter student loans where they can come and put their lunch and refrigerator they can come and watch television as well we want them to feel very very uncomfortable and that's going to be our be through our residence life department sure let's continue on down this hallway are two very important offices we have our international programs office and we also have our multicultural affairs here at prairie view so we have certain classroom space because some students take different classes within their foreign language also within our international programs office we offer study abroad to over 40 different countries so we always encourage our students to take apart and study abroad because not only they learn domestic view but they also learn an international concept as well here's a representation of all of our flags of the different countries we do have affiliations with and we do have programming so we have a latin dance night or we'll have a movie showcase during the theater as well too so they put all different programmers for students to learn more about the international aspect and also for our students as part of our multicultural affairs department to feel very secure and safe here at priority so let's continue on outside so as you see behind me is the key word progress so when you visit a campus you want to see some construction so we are actually building a brand new parking lot for our students whether they live on campus or off campus right behind me is university village this is another area where our commuter students may live at and and also engage with students we also call that phase three and six uh right over here in the distance is gonna be our park so as soon as you go over there play some basketball throw something on the grill right next to our park is our agricultural laboratory building so that's where academics all their research and we love to have them with us so let's continue on now in front of the parking lot it's going to be what i love to call the engineering community so we have the austin grove building which is simply for our chemical engineer on the on my left-hand side we also have the wilson building so this is going to be more of engineering technology computer science computer technology and might i remind you that we that we do graduate the most minority engineers in the state of texas so we pride ourselves on engineering and producing productive people another part of our community is sr college so this is where you're going to have your your your other your other engineering majors as well too so with with all the four buildings put together this makes up the engineering community so this is where all of our engineering students hang out you'll see them outside lives on the grass doing different experiments so a lot of our students love to come out and hang out with engineering students here on campus now as you see our engineering community let's continue on so we are right at the other building of the engineering community this is going to be the roy g perry building of electrical engineering as well also another benefit that is going to be coming soon to our engineering community is a brand new three-story 70 million dollar building that'll be coming to our campus that'll include robotics there'll be a lot of classrooms and lecture halls as well and 3d technology and that will be coming soon to prairie a m university let's continue on and in case all of you are wondering if we do have rotc yes we do here prairie view adam university this is our military building and we do offer all four branches of the rotc come on in let's get a little history under our minds barbara say hi ms barbara hi there how are you thank you ma'am thank you see as you can see we are a family environment here we take care of each other so when you come down and become a panther we're welcoming you to the family okay we're inside of the rotc building here at the hill of course you see the chain of command for our training course let's show you a bit of prairie view's history founded in military tradition you have our leaders in our military history here at prairie venom university this is the home of course of our naval rotc and our army let's take a look when it comes to loyalty duty and respect of course you have the army so we make sure that the students are totally engrossed in both military science and academics we keep them well trained strong in wheeled strong in mind and strong at heart and for those of you wondering yes they still work out push-ups pull-ups and the tire just part of our rotc we'll go down to the navy what's interesting here in this building you can definitely feel the energy of our military history of course with our legacy board with a lot of our former leaders here so when you get into the building you just feel the power and the strength of prairie view this is our navy side of course when you come in as a cadet you get to ring the bell all right let's take a look at some more of the campus we are at the college of juvenile justice and psychology one of the most prominent buildings on campus on our third floor we do have a mock courtroom and that is for students to get that real life experience especially for anyone's interest in psychology because you can sit in those court cases and learn more about your actual profession let's go inside and take a look once again a very beautiful building we have our reception area we also have the spiral staircase there's going to be a bunch of computer labs inside of this building as well and the dean is awesome she's incredible and we always encourage our students to be to choose the college of not just in psychology so let's continue on with our tour and now we are at the winslow our green college of education in the actual buildings called willamina delco so for all my educators out there we have k-12 and we also have special education as well too very very nice technology in the classroom using a lot of apple products and they are one of the leaders in concealing education you can also continue to get your master's degree here at prairie view as well and even a doctoral program in educational leadership let's continue on right across the street it's going to be the always franklin health center so we want our students to practice mental health we have our counseling services office here also your meningitis shop vaccination will be submitted here with the os franklin health center and you'll get the information during orientation so you want to get that meningitis shot turned in so that you can start your class here at prairie view the health center is going to be open it's open to the community as well and they have a lot of different various services and those in the health clinic is going to be free for students so you can always be seen if you ever feel sick or ill or if you have any special medic medications that need to be stored at the health center we can take care of that for you as well too so let's continue on to see our athletics and our recreation center because you got to stay fit here at prairie view so before we go into our athletics i always like to talk about our landscape of our beautiful campus right behind me is the holland games park so as soon as i come out here you see students throwing the football around substance will come out here and grab a blanket and just sit down and relax and we love that our campus has a bunch of older trees and great greenery uh so our landscaping here is perfect also another big highlight of the holly games park is that during homecoming we actually set this up and there's a huge stage and we have a a very big tradition here at frederick you call hump day and hump day is every wednesday where the students get to come out listen to music and have a good time and during homecoming we call it super hump day and superhot day is held right here on the grass area here at the holland gates park so definitely want you to come check this out it's a very beautiful area you always see students over here hanging out and just kicking back and enjoying this beautiful texas weather so let's continue on inside of our building now we're inside of our beautiful student recreation center part of our recreational sports department here at prairie view so we don't want you to get that freshman 15. so you got to come out get your workout on see our beautiful student staff here that are here to assist you right over there we have different drinks that you can get from the vending machines from gatorade to orange juice to even some sweet tea okay we'll continue on come out here and sit out and play games or chill and relax lockers at the bottom so you can store like your basketball shoes or any type of equipment but let's say you didn't bring any equipment with you we do have the equipment checkout so if you need a tennis racket if you need a volleyball basketball anything like that so for everyone that loves aquatics we do have our swimming pool so those olympic signs pull those all the way to 12 feet it is where you come out they do have different programming so we have like miniature pool parties there'll be different organizations that utilize it in the patio area as well so we'll continue on also we always have our televisions playing so whenever there's certain events that's going on on campus they're always listed under the tv as well too so here let's take a look inside of our basketball court so for everyone that likes to talk trash and they say it really good well you got to show that prairie view so we have three full-court basketball courts here that you can utilize also students will come here and play court volleyball as well too and right above is going to be our suspended track okay uh so you can come here and get your run on if you don't like to run outside you can certainly run indoors but that's not all we also have a second floor as well too but before we go upstairs we're going to go inside the weight room follow me is our weight room facility so we have our spirit mural i like to keep students encouraged as they come in to work out and we do have different different dance studios so we do offer zoba classes pilates there's also study rooms as well too let's continue on as we go towards the weight room so we are walking along our suspended track it has three different lanes as well and so it's where you can run inside whenever the weather including weather happens okay let's continue on and before we head downstairs you can see below all of our free weights as well as well as uh elliptical equipment and treadmills so you get your cardio on and get your biceps looking really really good as well additional equipment upstairs free rates a couple of couple bicycles as well there's a bunch of water fountains with the bottle refill let's head back downstairs okay so as we were upstairs we're looking at the freeway and treadmills elliptical area this is gonna be more of your heavy lifting so your dad lives also this is gonna be where you can do your pull-ups as well too bench press and then we have an additional area right over here to the right as well so we do have our own full fledged rock wall and they do change the routes very consistently usually on a weekly basis and through proper cycling you always go on a hiking trip bicycle trip as well and most easy activities are going to be included in your student fees here at the institution so this is going to be our recreation center it's a very beautiful area very nba lighting and so we want you to come work out with us here at prairie vietnam university another component of our regulations are a bunch of very different rooms here on our first floor so let's continue on we always like to keep the word play so we want you to be inclusive fun wellness we want to have energy we want you to play activated sports and recreation is critical so our first auxiliary room i want to show you is going to be our child watch area so we um the students will be able to check to um if you have any children better check them in right here and they also um everything is put up currently there'll be a lot of toys and things of that sort here within the child watch area this is the demo kitchen so on every friday we teach students new healthy recipes they can come here and try those for free and we do have um one of our chefs here the institution will come and operate in a demo kitchen our next room is our fitness assessment let's talk if you're interested in personal training if you want to know what your bmi is and they can take take um take that to consideration as well for the fitness assessment and last night is our game lounge they come here and play some paintball they usually have movies playing hustlers will come in here and do yoga pilates as well too and also the dish on the second floor we do have our zumba and yoga studios as well as you've seen our recreation center let's head to the memorial student center which is the main hub of our campus we are at our memorial student center which is the main hub campus here at prairie view but before we go inside i just want to emphasize emphasize the importance of safety here at prairie view so we do offer free cover 19 testing for all of our students faculty and staff so they are right in front of the msc here to take care of our students and our families and guests let's go inside [Music] awesome so this is the day home campus where i explained great music but there are a lot of components of the msc to the right will be our bookstores so whenever you need any fresh prayer new year like myself and also my partner in crime mr sinclair this is where we get all of our good looking slag here in the bookstore right here [Music] and also another part of our cafeteria because we are pandering grill and then we also have our old chick-fil-a here at our institution as well right down this way you gotta have your mobile charge stages so if you ever run out of any juice on those cell phones you go right in here so this is our panther mark as well so if you ever want to get some snacks some cookies chips there's a computer lab in here as well for students to study in between classes and last but not least we have our game room right here on the first floor so you can shoot pool they have xbox playstation it's a lot it gets very very competitive in our game room let's continue on also i pray we want to make sure our students have the most technology so you have a laptop check out system all throughout campus is one example of emsc so they will simply swipe their pv card enter the number of laptops that they would like to use they will be able to check it out for a surge duration of time johnson smith auditorium so we have some big name artists such as busy has been here we've also had gospel artists and fred heaven that have graced our stage here at the auditorium and all of our large student events happen in auditorium as well such as step shows orientation and other things that matter as well also on our second floor we have student government association and student affairs as well so that's what makes all the fun happen on campus and on the third floor is going to be a very important office it's going to be the office of road management which will include admissions financial aid and the registrar's office so they're going to be located on the third floor of the msc and last but not least it is time for some division one athletics so we're going to show your athletic facilities so follow me and here at prairie view adam university we have what is known as the 11th great wonder of the world also known as the baby dome this is where our lady panthers and our men's panther swap champion basketball team calls home let's check it and if out want to know what the home of the swap champion men's basketball team looks like let's take a look of a championship court here at prairie view we pride ourselves on having one of the best courts in the entire southwestern athletic conference and as you can see with facilities like here basketball is something that we're really good at let's keep going and here we are ladies and gentlemen we're here at the at previewing university athletic complex how you doing coach our respect to coach billy nix here at prairie view the name in itself means power tradition and dedication both educationally and athletically what you'll find here at our complex we have located our tennis courts as you can see off to my right as well as our soccer courts we're going to go inside so we can show you get you a sneak peek i don't want you to tell anybody the pride of the southwestern athletic conference panther stadium let's go and as you can see with our family environment 1876 we were one of the oldest institutions in the country but we are the second oldest institution here in the state of texas this is where our champions are made and forged ncaa regulation top-of-the-line weight room of course we are known for championships paying much homage to coach nix himself and if you're ready here you go i'm about to show you the pride of the southwestern athletic conference i welcome you to the panther stadium right here you'll find our reception room as well as our online to our hall of fame participants and members of the prairie view family this is where we conduct a lot of our obsession as far as our student and parent sessions welcome them to the university and right through this door is just as i promised we welcome you to the state-of-the-art stadium where we have our championship games this is panther stadium so make sure you come on down for homecoming and our home games to enjoy and celebrate good southwestern athletic football with the panther family you're going to make sure and we're going to make sure you have a good time pv you know uh makes you reminisce the days of black sheer stadium again panther stadium in all its glory just in case you were wondering yes we are a division one football program and we'd also like to welcome two incoming members to the southwestern athletic conference florida a m university those rattlers as well as bethune cookman wildcats we're looking forward to an exciting football season won't you guys come and join along with us welcoming you to panther stadium and as you can see over my shoulder we do have a of course a beautiful track facility one of the us olympic training facilities here at prairie view a m university we're doing big things here on the campus of prairie view known as the hill come and get you some we walked to the hobart taylor which is where our musical and the best band in the nation also known as the marching storm it's also this is their home building as well as if you're interested in music theater or you want to
