DIY electric pole pounder [Music] [Music] Oh a chair another day another project post founder getting ready to do that sloping back hill here's going down the slope of our back hill Christie ladies team idea is here to pound into post very quickly it's your typical post pounder and yeah obviously anyone that's ever done this you grab the handles and slip it over the post and bang it and banging and banging until you get it seated well if you've got soil that's kind of rocky which our soil is has a lot of hardened clay which our soil is that can be a little time-consuming like half an hour I don't know it takes a long time anyway especially get some rocks in there trying to drive it down three four feet well here on the hill I'm gonna be using some long posts like this and driving them a substantial way actually this isn't even the tallest I've got another foot taller it's a seven footer using eight footers driving them in about five feet in I'm trying to a stabilize the soil on the back hill so that's why I wanted to go deep so maybe we've got the parts here in the process of cutting on my parts for a tee post driver gonna use a demolition hammer cheap Harbor Freight demolition hammer taking sacrifice one of the bits to it cut it off weld it in this contraption and we'll see how it does driving post I got a lot of posts to drive this is her cut cleaned up ready for welding I was going to stick weld it but now I'm looking at the stick to stick welding is a little questionable sometimes you're not sure whether it worked or not where is the TIG you know I know I've got a nice deep penetration at all that so I'm gonna go for the tape I have enough gas left so let's get on the welding okay finished welding it up and it pulled a little bit to one side and I started the well didn't notice till later so it's off a few degrees but really care one thing I tried was interesting was still really hot see that kind of blackened look yeah it's trying a super protectant on it because general these have some silicone on them and figure when things that hot they could embed into the surface and might make it you know more rust resistant and such anyway I thought that'd be a nice drink trial I do like the color of it gives it a real nice patina you can see it there yeah my weld this air is a little doesn't look so smooth trying to go around a circle something like this a little difficult but sure it works I'm not selling the piece just wanting to get a good tight well and once the sucker pulls up I'll get out there and give it a try on a post with a pole pounder on the demo hammer yeah here's a post six six feet tall I think we got about 18 inches there left I'm gonna just throw it down in about a minute so this thing's working great let's uh I got this nice Vantage thing and I'm up above it like this makes a little easier try to drop this on there now down about a foot yeah that's great imagine how much effort that takes trying to it by him so I'm gonna do this whole hill this actually gonna be for connecting a line to so I can attach a line for going down the hill attach it down to the bottom okay that works so this is two-inch steel you see it's roughly a quarter of an inch wall thickness didn't need to be that thick but that just happens to be what I had you could use circular use whatever you want this is all I have and a back here I've got a piece of 3/8 inch steel it happens to have the angle on it just because the piece originally had the angle I thought that Mac might actually help getting it over there so it doesn't really matter anyway so we've got the cap I guess a 3/8 inch steel this is welded on and then this bit which goes into the demolition hammer has also been welded in came off a little bit of an angle but we're not gonna worry about that so the first thing is I'm am I gonna be able to tilt this thing up with the device on it as it stands so let's see that's a couple these two together doing it on the ground and see if I can do a tilt up on it to get it down to the ground or a reasonable facsimile thereof that'll do okay I got it tilting her up yeah that's up there right and I have to deal with the on/off situation times the simplest solution is the best okay so I'm gonna handle some I don't know some old fishing lines probably for deep sea fishing or something's for quite thick I'm not a fisherman I don't know I said all fish anymore so anyhow so unless thing gets pulled on so that'll do the job at least for now if I decide this is really useful then I can go from there this always get me started okay let's give this a shot okay business in there going in so deep I don't care if it's totally vertical bump the switch kick this up glass there we go oh I bet my circuit breaker that's it okay you go check that yeah it looks like the lights off on that yeah he didn't why the house very well and I didn't redo all that so this outdoor one I should have turned off the heater on the inside of the house first go in and do that come back out yeah that's what it was the circuit breaker let's finish this off [Music] okay here we go it's pretty easy peasy I'm not standing on the court that is ok so long enough extension here that allows this thing to hold on it I might go a little deeper next time got to be able to remove them too let's see I don't work my hand clear that worked great but please know these short ones here aren't for tying offences these short ones here they're and he just went up a little further then I've got the posts from the front back porch to run ropes down from so all this is so that I can get down this hill run a rope down in the sender I've already got one post there nice birdhouse someone gave us that's pretty cute so that'll should give me enough post for anchoring in and let me know this thing actually works decently I was thinking I might have to totally totally rebuild it so the weight would hang down on the side although that would be nice yeah not necessary seems to work fine just like this so proceed in that manner forward excuse me are each here kind of a drizzly April 2nd our H signing off hasta la project Oh
