hello everyone today I'm actually going to be showing you the poly bug 203 a the functionality of it I'm not going to get real on death because this could be a whole video in itself just explaining the slider but just to give you an over overview of this basically have your fine tune and detune which is also called beat on the PI MOOC which is where this little lot comes in because you can actually adjust your oscillators that shows their way out of phase from each other it's basically it looks at the phase using phase locked loops phase locked loop circuitry should say but anyways what you have is you have your mix control here which auxiliary direct mode resonator and both control filter and then you have your octave balance which is the loudness of each off if you have a low octave middle octave an octave and then you have a D tune of your salt tooth waveform which is really cool this is something that's really neat then you have all your modulations for every waveform generated and so basically have your salt tooth waveform your square wave waveform modulations independent yeah it can actually shape the square wave from like a pulse wave up to a square you can get some very nice variables there and then you have your actual sawtooth eldena so you can actually loud enough to sell to if you want it to stand out more than the square wave then you have your loudness contour which I have to have to tell you a fact here contour here is just a fancy word for envelope generator that's all it is because that's all this full section here is envelope generator for your loudness of course and then you have your resonator which is basically equal basic equalizers built in which these are very handy tools on the poly Moog and then you have your voltage controlled filter which is famous by Moke this has the true mo filter in it but anyways back here to the front this is where you can actually select your waveforms solve to square wave and in your mixture and so basically you have several things you can do you can split the octaves which basically where your low end you can make a square wave your hand you can make salt tubes or the mixture to which I'm going to give you a good demonstration of all this then you have your rings which is basically your octaves for each section you can make one a higher octave than the square wave and you make the square wave a lower octave so you can get some nuts mixtures there of sound and then rest of this is just your variation preset so when you actually go through your presets this stuff changes and with that but anyways now I'm about to just kind of walk you through some of the sounds based off me playing with the controls and we'll go from there anyways I hope you enjoy this video and thanks very much for watching take care okay first of all I'll actually just be showing you the Sawtooth wave form and this is the sawtooth by itself and direct output which is like I said the direct audio path without going through the filters and everything so here we go here's just the sawtooth and basis is fairly basic but you can also shift your office like that then you have square square wave but you actually have independent setups for the low octave and octave on this as well so right now we'll get a square wave you can shake there as you can hear and if you hear this so you have one for your high and one for your low octave then you can also engage modulation to that so it's actually changing the waveform all right now you can actually combine the two ask the cell tooth and the square wave together you can shift the sawtooth up an octave you can shift the square wave down like that then you can keep them at the same auction together but then also we get to modulation which is really interesting on this thing right now that's just your salt tooth and set one up for the square wave now step you then you can actually go over here and set up your envelope which we'll do we'll set a slow attack and decay and release is on the same sliders so we'll make it decay fairly slow and release fairly slow today you can do things like this so it's a very interesting scent that has a lot of motion in between the phasing and modulations and things like that but then also this is just touching the surface right now this is just some basic things which can actually shift or square-wave down I'm just country what this sounds like now I engage more like what margin you're here - is the square wave with monta legend Oh that's almost a boss you mana shape there it's one of my relations and that's really what makes box man and what it is is actually the the frequencies kind of fighting each other between the modulations so anyways what we have now that's just this is the direct mode we're going to turn that down and go to filter and now we're actually in the mote filter so this work is really cool too because you have a generator also for your filter which also called mature but for instance I will set it up with a slow attack slow DK town and you get things like this or you Internet's exit fast but he also have a control here on your numbness contort which actually sets up the thing to be equal with this and then you have things like this combined that's just your vocal filtered you also have resonators section like a sandwich is a equalizer Hey Oh Josh go go back here is in your eyes more not passed over an ax here below band band pass and high pass filter a mixture of things you can do but then it also gets really cool too because let me go back to host control filter ferment this is the mode filter actually I'm modulation for this as well so one one one one a big example a sampling cold is actually an effective more adds some Cabala it's the name of I believe and X uses the public throughout the song with what you want it down I'm actually I'm go back to this Sun way but why not whirring whirring our actual mix resonator and filters together to get things like this you using direct filter so I can t do like the intro that Herbie Hancock does on the on the demo video of the the promo video back in acting setting into play mode so many ways you can you've got a lot of possibilities you can do this thing and you can also do a keyboard script where we expect a filter on Logan and now if you what let's actually get sampling hold and then we'll actually put the resonator only hair off so now we have things like this oh man we can also make the low octopus sawtooth or a square wave which will make us all tooth now you can just a salted down here and we'll put a square wave I still need to calibrate something on this unit calibrated a little bit but as I've been restoring it I've had to not something that calibration cause whoa can I just go to the square wave hey where's this on the basic sounds and you can actually combine who can help square wave down here but also something else I even talked about is this right here let me go back here we'll come out to filters and we'll go back to direct mode you can actually get some piano lock you've actually set it up to where you have and even when you hold in the key I've got a sustained control so you want to hit a key and hold it in it actually stayed out as you can see you can also be Tunney sell to let's go back here has put some modulation on that that was actually kind of suited up here now while we were back into economy but something else the fun mode can do is this really cool is actually I'm going to go to preset one this let's go here modulating that kid controls to your keys and as you'll hear when I hit a note my generation comes in when I released the modulation and she dies and goes back to a non modulation signal some very cool things and also ferny of y'all and there are big cs-80 fans like I am yamaha cs-80 which was used by Ben Jealous a lot you can actually hit some pretty decent cs-80 sounds out of this English evangelist for you basic internal modulation you really want to get crazy with it can also do some of the pop-up things one better resonator and actually get even more more crazy ah Oh by that will be close control filter two ways as you kind of hear the club dog was very versatile it does a lot for its time it was made in 1976 is when the actual thing came out so you know in 1976 this was pretty big technology you didn't get this much and Lewis is one of the first Paul clinic synthesizers so it has a mixture it's but it not I know most people argue that it's not really a true synthesizer and I have to agree with them because it does use an organ based circuitry dividers things like that but the thing is is that the plenum ojeda each had a buzzer control amplifier for each key so it really gives you some depth in the actual music but anyways thanks for watching and I hope you found this video very entertaining take care
