hi um in this video I'll be showing you how to operate your polyformer so let's start by preparing the bottle first you want to make sure that you wash a bottle and use either glue gun or acetone to clean off the uh residue the the sticky thingy on it on the body of the bottle after you tear off the label and then we cut out the bottom of the bottle this way okay you also want to make sure that your bottle is wrong and smooth in this case I am using a smaller water bottle which comes relatively uh super uniform around but if you use if you are dealing with the bottle with the bridges you want to make the uh look at ways to heat a bottle and smooth it out there are plenty of ways on internet um or you can join the Discord to uh discuss and find out some other the way that some other people uh go about smoking the bottle and we want to go counterclockwise to trim uh to um cut a bottle with a super thin start so that it's much easier to feed into the pulley cutter and you also want to measure the thickness of the bottle so in this case I'll be using a micrometer but you can get by with using just a uh digital caliper so in this case we're getting about 0.3 millimeter thickness and there's a table on that we're developing to try and find out uh what's the corresponding thickness to the correct width that we want to be getting uh in my past experience 0.3 millimeter is suitable for cutting with roughly about eight millimeter width so we will be setting the poly cutter to eight millimeter and if it's if the dial gauge is coming at the bottom it means that it's going to be cutting at 10 millimeter and the further up you go uh by each increment on labeled on the poly cutter it represents one millimeter for each increment so in this case we won't be setting it to increment two increments above the bottom line okay now we can start cutting foreign foreign overall it looks to be fairly consistent and if there's any point that's not quite consistent we can actually trim off the uh the end because the end is usually going to be a little bit lesser consistent as it as it travels towards the uh thinner and thinner diameter and now we want to grab the ribbon cartridge as well as the Turning teeth first we loosen the cap and slot in the cartridge thank you and the Magnificent snaps with the with each other we can close it in we want to start winding up the ribbon following the natural Direction Where The Rim wants to fall itself in in this case the ribbon wants to go counterclockwise because of the way we cut it so we want to make sure that the uh the Turning key the inside column is actually turning counterclockwise because he's using a planetary gear set so the outside is actually turning clockwise because it reverse the direction of the turning foreign ER so on the interface you want to set the temperature to 205 degree or 210 degrees Celsius and wait for it to heat up before you insert the ribbon and start pulling it by hand so we want to start pulling by hand just a little bit so that we get enough length so the ribbon actually reaches the pulling Center right over here then we can uh push the start of the ribbon into the extender make sure that it's um very secure I get enough lens so another way there's a second keyhole on it so now that is down the rest of the process is going to be automatic then you go to the and now that we have pulled it through by hand for a little bit and connects to to the ribbing extender it can start pulling and the way we do it is just to press the on under the extruder menu you can set the extrudence speed to 10 millimeter per second and Extrusion length to however long you want and we can start pressing just extrude and the motor will automatically start spinning from my experience usually it takes about 5 000 millimeter of distance to complete a 500 milliliter bottle and uh it really depends on the cutting width and the thickness of the bottle and the virus quite a bit but what you want to do is actually watch out for uh the pulling process as it as it towards the end um if you don't if there's no tension between the hot end and the uh spool the you know the ribbon will release this tension and it will it will unwind itself on it on the spool thanks for watching
