[Music] [Music] [Music] welcome to the Bahamas and the PokerStars Caribbean adventure 2018 this is the main event from the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island I'm James Hartigan alongside me is poker pro poker coach and poker writer Jonathan Lethem so Jonathan can you remember the first time you came here to play the main event it's a long time ago feels like forever ago 2007 it was one of my first $10,000 buy in tournaments and somehow I ended up taking it the place for about 320,000 it was a very good start to my live poker career so you were at that final table on the Dragons balcony where the wind was blowing yes they had to get tape to tape down the cards because as soon as they dealt the cards the cards flew right off the table but now we're here this great set so I don't worry about the cards flying away and over the years the PC a main event has become one of those tournaments that's just kind of grown in prestige and is one of the titles that everyone wants to win definitely it's one of the major tournaments of the year there are only so many gigantic tournaments and this is one of the biggest well this year more than 570 players took to the tables across to day ones including the PGA rakes like Chris Moneymaker sailing day ones Fatima beretta Melo a Jamie Stamos guys I just want a pot you missed it Plus Daniel Negreanu well sadly none of those guys made it through today too but plenty of big names dead including the reigning main event champ Christian harder plus a couple of former EPT winners libery and Jake Cody we've also spotted the always vocal and emotional Maurice Hawkins you might remember we sort of make a deep run here three years ago and just want to be so well after than our half of you famous she'd also highlight certified poker legend barry greenstein and psychologist and author Maria konnikova great story this one Jonathon less than a year she started playing poker she's already won a trophy taking down the national championship yesterday and a platinum passage back next year exactly and we've got a number of players who've won seats into this event Murray Schwab a forestry crews supervisor playing in his first major event this was qualify Stephen John Jost he won his seat with just 27 euros and check out this guy Charles Modesto from Brazil every time we point a camera at him he does this those are some moves you think he has this many moves on the table he's gonna be taking a seat at the secondary table let's talk about some of the players we've got on the feature table today Andre Akari everyone loves Andre he is one of my favorite people he is so nice so humble and everyone in Brazil loves him exactly what in the world loves him another player to watch is Jonathan Jaffe what do you know about him he is a player he comes ready to fight hard for every pot I'm excited to see how he accumulates chips because he seems to make a deep run in almost every turn when he plays and he always has 2019 PCA and the PokerStars players No Limit Hold'em championship we've already given away one platinum past that was awarded a couple of days ago to Maria konnikova for taking down the national championship and today we gave away another let's try ties card tie is got an A congratulations it felt awesome I never I didn't expect to win doesn't it yeah it does happen Griffin you know we've been talking we say platinum Pass Platinum pass Putnam pass what does it actually the blood is in Griffin Platinum Pass is a $30,000 package it's an entry fee into the 2019 $25,000 by n which in the off the tournament to top tank while Victor's deepest run in the main event was back in 2008 when he came 25th Jake Cody's best result was in 2013 when he came 47th one year later libery finished in 50th that was her PCA personal best but you can't do better than the number one spot which is where Harrison gimble finished in 2010 but the most recent main event champ Christian harder will not be going back-to-back he has hit the rail here on day two onward Christian harder soldier staying out in the field let's check in on Maurice Hawkins who has just called a three bet from Uriel improperly massara but des don't know drawing to a shot a little stab here in the turn in general would not be a terrible play 7600 in the middle channels bets 2,900 now we know this isn't gonna work once he gets called he's gonna be up against the straight a lot of the time there's the coal from Becerra the river card is the five of diamonds powering the board Sara checks a third time and this is a one hundred thousand and it's rather fitting that today the Brazilians are getting yanked out painfully by the route nice banana well with Stephen John just eliminating Andre Akari we are down to two hundred and five players in the main event midway through day two and even though Michael Cameron has lost some chips since we last saw him he is still chip leader with 365 K Jonathan West sits in second with 295 K libery just scraped into the top ten with a stack of 197,000 unfortunately though we have lost her Brazilian teammate Andre Akari not coming and I was trying to fix the problem without them well you have to try to find a way some strategy to beauty stack that was I was trying to deliver it didn't work this time we have a lot of Brazilians still in the field I gotta be rooting for them now that I bus I can go to the beach always want to play my best and I think I do next time the battles continue on day two and there's a new qualifier heading to the main stage just try not to think of cameras lights and playing against Victor where's the rest of the puck just trying to soak it all in and not jump out of my boots being scared you guys give them maniac all the
