hey all it's Pokémon day and they just announced some really exciting news Gango is finally in Pokemon cafe well it's about time also there's a new Pokemon Legends coming out next year so cool stuff now time for me to do what I always do about things like this the trailer opens up with paperwork stating the lumino city Redevelopment plan and then it shows a bunch of sketches of classic European architecture and then a neat 3D rendering scene that looks like a very cool animated blueprint also forgive me I'm probably going to mix up lumos and luminos all the time I just I just add an N that n is not there n was in the last game okay I can't get it through my thick skull cuz it's luminous why remove the N cuz it's French why are the frenches so good at removing the n lumio city is the big city in Kos so France and thus lumio city is Paris with its world famous Eiffel Tower and there are two different takes two different directions this new Legends Za game could go my wife and most of the people online after I tweeted about this stated that it's probably a futuristic game because neon colors and it says Redevelopment plan not just development which I did read incorrectly I literally woke up to the trailer so forgive me but future Callos I don't think so I think like the previous Legends game this is going to take place in the past specifically around the time the Eiffel Tower and its surrounding area was built in the 1880s which conveniently is about the same time period is Legends Aras now the Pokémon world's history is different from ours obviously but it has always been heavily inspired by Real World locations cultures and real world history this makes Legends archus take place around 1868 through 70ish the mai restoration time period in Japan specifically when it just started this was when they were all about expanding to their nearby islands and most notably that was haido which at the time was named ezo and they renamed it upon colonizing it to the dismay of the natives as always now we always knew that c was based on Hokkaido but then this game names the region Hui and as the story progresses in The Village's development advances they rename it to so yeah same thing as real history at least the same idea minus the natives as always now what I'm thinking here is that the timeline just works well supposedly pokeballs were invented in and around Hui so roughly the 1860s and70s technology takes years to spread to neighboring regions let alone ones across the globe the something as important and big as pokeballs would probably spread really fast so the timelines line up the Eiffel Tower and the area immediately surrounding it were developed in 1887 giving plenty of time for pokeballs to reach Kos and plus this time period and the one right after it is sort of the most famous time period for Paris overall between the finishing of the Eiffel Tower and World War I Paris was widely considered to be the most beautiful city in Europe if not the world the most advanced too and the trailer's papery plans saying Redevelopment doesn't take away from the idea that this is likely the time period of the game if anything it adds to it Paris is a very old city Paris was founded around the year 300 BC starting as a small Celtic fishing Village the Romans eventually took it over and began its expansion even building the most advanced tunnel and sewer system in the world at the time you see they knew it was a really good hub for the entire region making it very useful to whomever controlled it throughout the classic and Middle Ages and the area surrounding it was also great for the Industrial Revolution too a good more central location for all of their goods and supplies from all around the country to get shipped to for manufacturing so more and more people started moving into Paris faster and faster and the city just couldn't keep up so then in the 1850s they began a massive Urban Redevelopment plan and they went ham led by Baron hman the destruction of Old Paris project displaced thousands of workers and people that lived in the city because they demolished entire city blocks one after another it was very controversial news at the time not only because of the thousands of homeless people now but also because of the 2.5 billion Franks in debt they developed adjusted for inflation that's uh and calculate or help me I do not know MTH only about 106 billion us today or half an Elon Musk the project not only took decades but even survived a few sieges and overthrowing and came to its Grand Finale in 1889 with the finishing of the Eiffel Tower which quickly became an icon not just of the city itself which was now considered to be the extra most bestest and beautifullest city in the world but it also became a symbol of France as a whole it was the end of Old Paris and the beginning of a new era for Paris Z to A that's sort of Pokémon X and y's whole theming too especially in the XYZ anime it was all about endings being followed by New Beginnings heck you even got the Gen 6 remix that came out in the same generation as X and Y Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Omega then Alpha endings followed by beginnings and considering Legends Arc has kind of just didn't mention Asos native people directly at all although there were Pokémon based on their beliefs which we cover in great detail in all of these other beautiful award-winning videos I think the same thing would be happening here in all likelihood in Pokémon Legends Za we will see a small but still post-industrial lumino City lumos City who is wanting to redevelop itself and greatly expand Into the Wilderness next to it it's just like jubil Village in Legends archus but now with some post-industrial stuff Zygarde wouldn't like that zygard is the guardian of the ecosystem you know how upset zygard would be in this time period in particular like it's it's just after the Industrial Revolution in fact the whole Revolution part of the Industrial Revolution came to a close between 1840 and 50 all of this new technology and new way of life was finally normal and this is what led to Paris going deep into that Urban Redevelopment just a bit later too but like okay so humans are destroying the ecosystem all of a sudden and now they have Pokeballs and they want to revamp and expand callow to be super industrial and advanced nuh-uh not on my watch says Zygarde and it begins zygard Shenanigans like making the wild Pokemon all around the region angry and there's now Alpha Pokemon all over the place you know all the Pokemon Legends gameplay mechanics all caused by Zygarde this time it's all about it just doing its Duty balancing out life and destruction guarding the sacred beauty of the the ecosystem so one aspect of the Pokémon world that doesn't get talked about a whole lot is its environmentalism and love of the natural world if you think about it it's been this way for a long time too Kanto in real life is like it's Tokyo it's just Tokyo but in Pokemon it's mostly Lush forests and barely touched Serene lakes and mountains and even many of the cities in the Pokémon world use more advanced Greener Technologies and even one of the biggest driving disagreements between the heroes and the villains is how they respect nature and the Pokémon who live in it are they tools to make a profit off of and gain power through even if it ruins the natural world in the process or can you be friends and live together in harmony with Pokemon benefit each other through your own strengths and weaknesses counterparts it's a beautiful message that I can really get behind and a message beloved by today's sponsor Hol Karn holkar is the leading brand for watches and jewelry made of natural mat materials in Europe and I love how they utilize the natural beauty of wood grain it makes each piece unique too since that's how nature works I got myself this gorgeous watch and necklace charm that touch of wood is just the perfect accent it's like I have a little extra connection with nature which we all should be reminded of more often they even have wooden sunglasses and unic cases and being nature lovers Hol King uses sustainable practices and partners with the Jane Goodall Institute to support reforestation so you can get their wooden sunglasses and bracelets know you helped make a difference they even have slate handbags not something I had heard of before but they are gorgeous and deals are gorgeous too by using the link at the top of this video's description you can check out their current selection and use the coupon code Noggin 15 for 15% off of your order so don't delay get some natural good looks today now okay where was I oh right the future maybe maybe it's it's a future Callos I suppose we did just have scarlet and violet whose themes were past in future future and Paris is sort of spearheading the world once again in some of its future endeavors remember the Paris agreement from just a few years ago a big International treaty to combat climate change protecting the ecosystem zygarde's whole thing every country who signed it is legally bound to produce Greener energy limit carbon emissions and just in general do better with all of our futures it's called the Paris agreement because the UN wrote and signed it in Paris why Paris cuz they are one of the few Western cities who are really going at it in terms of green Urban Development now they aren't bulldozing entire chunks of the city this time but they do plan to set the example for what cities of the future should look like by 2030 they plan to become the greenest city on earth planting over 170,000 trees and by 2050 they plan on their local emissions being Net Zero it's the kind of thing all of our major cities will need to do if we are to let our great grandkids have a hopeful future at all and really trees are beautiful I love trees maybe Paris will finally reattain that most beautiful city in the world label that's been missing for a century again so there are some things to base the idea of it being a modern or futuristic Legends game on though they are redeveloping lumio City to be more carbon efficient and green is not something I would expect Zygarde to go on the offensive about though maybe it's not on the offensive and rather like archas it's the one asking you for help maybe there are some French mercenaries coming to do harm to Callos team flare is back and thus the lumos Redevelopment plan isn't actually all that important or maybe it's being led by team Flair's Resurgence and they're redeveloping furnaces but looking again at the reveal trailer what does it show that this Redevelopment is like what would this Redevelopment even be when you look at its blueprint plans for the City first of all the first sketchy bits that's not modern or futuristic architecture at all that is classic European architecture to the tea like very 1800s early 1900s stuff and then in the overhead shot that's just what Callos looks like or lumos City that's just what lumos City looks like in X and Y and you can get a really good look at it in the Smash Bros stage that takes place there big tower in the middle big urban area inside what looks like walls the like different circly roundabout open bits that's what it already looks like in X and Y like at most it's noteworthy that the circles have more stuff and Detail in them now but that can just be chocked up to it being on Modern Hardware instead of the 3DS I'm just so curious about the flickering of the blueprint scene though it's like a hologram which while they do exist already today they are inherently futuristic in Vibe but as for the actual blueprint sketches at the start and end of the trailer blueprints are not all that modern if if anything they are the opposite they were invented in the 1840s which is perfectly right before paris's big Redevelopment project it was one of the first massive projects to utilize blueprints extensively you see original blueprints were always drawn on paper and then because of the way photography and scanning worked back then at the time the copies had to be put on dark paper most often dark blue because when doing the whole process you would actually create the inverse you'd have white lines on blue black or otherwise dark paper I think that's the aesthetic that this scene is going for they just made it a little more glowy and colorful to make it more fancy and so that you can tell that the Pokemon are Pokemon and they're moving around and they don't look bad you know it's to make it look clearer not to make it look like neon futurism plus as a blueprint this is showing what the idea of the city is so in a way it is what the future looks like to the people of the past because our modern is the future of the past people is it not that sounded better in my head but honestly as painful as it is to say I think the biggest attractor from the idea of a modern or futuristic Callos Legends game is what really puts the big no o stamp on it it's uh well like scarlet and violet and legends archus are already low res lowf frame rate games and they are mostly empty Fields with some grass and occasional low poly trees and rocks don't get me wrong I loved the games but I cannot imagine them making a big open world sprawling City Yakuza like a dragon game style right at least not with the game running at all unless it were on a switch to but even then something that looks like the same style and quality as detective Pikachu 2 would be very cool but that game is only as smooth and pretty as it is because of how on Rails it is you can't easily convert that into something open world like Legends arches like dective Pikachu 2 looks great but the camera's fixed you see this front of a building the rest of the building is not rendered but if you're in a big open world 3D space you got to render the whole thing the switch can't do that I mean it can just game freak can't touche and that's basically another reason why I'm pretty confident in saying that this game will take place shortly after the events of Legends archus and quite a bit before X and Y a small lumos Town may exist and they are wanting to redevelop it into a huge Urban Metropolis that we know today fitting as that's the same time period that that exact same thing happened in the real world thinking about it more while we work on this very video I keep being drawn to the flickering of the holographic blueprint scene that does imply lights inherently which could very well just be because lumos is based on the City of Lights after all and has that as its whole own theming too but as such it just also implies a hologram now I'm not 100% confident in either direction honestly I wouldn't bet money on this game being in the past or in the modern day/ near future though now I'm more convinced than ever that it is future or at least a modern setting with the Legends style gameplay as Nintendo of America just tweeted that the game is quote set entirely within lumio city which is very cool and something I've always wanted Modern or past a big city setting with Pokemon sounds amazing especially if they manage to make it as vibrant and Lively as the previously mentioned Yakuza likea dragon games in fact I just finished the most recent one and it had a whole Pokemon Parody aspect to it already just proving that like the idea works also video on that being worked on right now actually but as brilliantly cool as that idea is I just seriously worry about its quality and frame rate like how big and sprawling are we talking how much needs to to be loaded at once please don't use the Legend's name and make a detective Pikachu like game that's just regular Pokémon gameplay like oh please don't do that monkeys pod but hey perhaps in this modern setting they were still inspired by the old Paris great Renovations in the late 19th century and are just applying that idea to the modern setting or maybe like many other recent Pokemon games there's time travel Shenanigans involved Z through a the Z is today because right now will always be the end of History until tomorrow happens it is always Z and a is the beginning perhaps in this case the beginning of lumo city as we know it today the past it's definitely still too early for solid speculation but it's never a bad time for a relevant history lesson but those are just my thoughts within an hour of the announcement I am sleepy so what are your thoughts let me know down below and never stop using your [Music] Noggin that's supposed to be hidden you're not supposed to see that that
