the way this time and we have a new pair knighted on william welcome to lovely to have you here should we just get on and and do pointless shall we do that a bit fun before we do that i need to tell you uh emma and howard got through to the final last time oh they didn't win the jackpot so we're adding another 1000 pounds to that so today's jackpot starts off at 2500 pounds there we are that's worth playing for right if everyone's ready let's play pointless [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you just have to remember at all times that the pair over the highest score at the end of each round will be eliminated so if you keep your scores lovely and low everything will be great best of luck to everybody our first category this afternoon is science can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first he's going to go second and whoever's going first please step up to the podium okay and the question concerns tease in science richard yeah we're going to show you seven clues on each board all sorts of scientific things all the answers begin with t seven on the first board seven on the second fourteen t's defined at home um right now let's reveal our board of clues to teas in science here we go we've got a strong fibrous cord of connective tissue that joins muscle to bone six process where plants lose water vapor through the stomata in the leaves thirteen the tube that leads from the mouth towards the lungs also known as the windpipe seven instrument used to measure and indicate the temperature of an object or person eleven the inner and larger of the two bones in the lower leg commonly known as the shin bone five metallic element with chemical symbol w that has the highest melting point of all metals eight and the lowest point of a wave as opposed to the crest or peak six there we are charlie welcome back this is your final attempt at the pointless summit uh great to have you back with us uh tell us more about yourself charlie um so as well as being a supportive footballer i also play for a pub team uh in nottingham uh so i've got a big group of friends up in nottingham so i play for uh white lion fc up in nottingham um so yeah it's it was a sunday after a saturday night dad well yes you have saturday night in the white lion and then you all meet up sunday straight down yeah i think oh that was a that was an error why don't they swap it around well well and then back in after that's the thing yeah it's before and after so i suppose a lot of cramming not cramming that's what we call it uh charlie what are you gonna go for on our board of teas um i'm gonna go for the third one down and say trackier track here for the windpipe let's see how many of our 100 people said trackier is it right it is right that's a good answer charlie well done 39 good start uh yeah it's about 15 centimeters long oh if you think about it funny if you think that because it's not i don't think it's 15 centimeters from maybe uh maybe yeah maybe then it will stop it's work here it's done i guess it's all cartilagey here because it's got a it's got a lot to protect you mustn't start thinking about things inside your body no you're going to become really you'd start when you think about breathing i'm not thinking about it i bet you are now i'm thinking about it now there we are thank you very much indeed sorry everyone yeah sorry sorry um kitty welcome back thank you welcome back tell us all about yourself again a little bit more what else can you tell us uh so i do bell ringing uh something that yes where do you do your bell ringing uh all over the country but mainly in a church in walgreens and do you how many of you are there in a uh you can get i've rung in towers of 12 before um how a tower a tower yeah is what you call your group yeah the bell tower and i see right but what do you call the group of ringers who all there with their with their red one rope each two ropes one one rope each one and i should know the name but i don't okay there we are kitty what are you going to go for on our board here um i think i'll go for the metallic element which is tungsten tungsten says kitty for the metallic element let's see how many of our 100 knew that tungsten tungsten is right 39 is the only score we have at the moment and you're passing 17 oh i convinced myself that because titanium had eight letters it must be titanium but uh of course it's not of course it's tungsten tungsten uh thank you very much indeed now nigel welcome new people tell us all about yourself nigel hi uh yeah i'm nigel um i'm a telecommunications consultant i work for a large global telecommunications company and research and development into the next generation of mobile phone networks 6g that's the future surely must be right oh no why not why not steal a march and everyone gets good 70 9g get a 9. go up to 90. b14g by the time we retire where things will happen before you ask yeah that'd be good elon musk is developing that actually harnessing the power of thought wow it's not going to help us much is it no right nigel what are you going to go for um well knowing it begins with a t i think i can have a stab at this one um the bone in the leg is the tibia the tibia says nigel let's find out if the tibia is right how many people said it tibia tibia is right well 39 is the high score underpass 35 particular not bad well play nigel nice to start to your point this career there yeah the second largest bone in the human body the shin bone essentially the tibia thank you very much indeed richard david oh you'll have wanted tibia you'll have wanted that i'm sure um we discovered last time that uh david is was a podiatrist no that's right now retired um tell us more about yourself dave well i'm busily retired i'm i do a little bit of sport badminton tennis and i'm trying to learn spanish how are you finding the learning of a language well i thought it was going quite well and then we were in spain and um chuck came to do some work and um i asked him if he wanted a drink but i said um um instead of you know ebitda and i thought i'd asked him if you'd wanted a baby um were you carrying one at the time that would have been no i shouldn't be carrying a possibility it should have been i would have made it much is cerveza even i mean even i know that come on um david um now then you have got this board it's all yours you can fill in all the blanks for us if you like um well the top one's tendon the second one is transpiration the fourth one is thermometer and the fifth at the bottom one is trough so i think i'll go for transpiration transpiration says david let's see how many of our 100 people got that sounds great transpiration absolutely right well 39 is our high score i think going past that and you do seven teams are low and you pass that down you go to 11 deservedly so david great answer very well played david that's what we call a perfect read and that you knew all of them and you went for the one with the lowest score so uh couldn't have done any better i'll give you the scores for the others uh tendon would have scored you a 41 thermometer we'll just scored you and um you're quite right peaks and troughs it's 25 very good indeed uh well we're halfway through the round let's have a look at those scores 11 the best score of the past well done david and deb then 17 is where we find kitty and georgia then 35 is where we find nigel and william 39 is where we find charlie and lisa you're not really that far ahead just a little bit ahead uh we're gonna come back down the line now will the second players please step up to the podium [Music] let us put seven more clues to teas in science up on the board and here they come we have got the principal male sex hormone 12 element with chemical symbol sn and atomic number 50 three surgical procedure in which a tissue or organ is replaced ten medical name for the ankle bone five the largest moon of saturn and the second largest in the solar system five a force used to move a body forwards or up usually generated by a jet or rocket engine six and surname of the serbian american inventor known for the development of alternating current systems five there we are deb welcome back lovely to have you back with us um my goodness you've been set up wonderfully by david we've got to get you into us into round two and beyond this time i think um tell us more about yourself deb um well i'm deb and i used to work for david in our practice but we're retired now so we just people about in our camper van and go to france and spain oh that's nice go to francis bay maybe go out for some babies it's nice hopefully not yeah um no there you are deb you're on 11. 27 or less even at this early stage gets you through i'm gonna have to go for a very simple one because i don't actually know i'm gonna have to go for the third one down and say transplant transplant for the surgical procedure uh let's see if that's right let's see how many by 100 people said it here comes your red line it's right that takes us down to 58 not bad that takes your total up to 69. i think you've done enough yeah and that's a classic example of something you see all the time with someone saying i don't know any of them i'm gonna have to go for the only one i know it could be worse thank you rachel uh william welcome hi uh tell us all about yourself william um so until recently i was a student at oxford studying classics um i recently graduated and i spent my time since then doing various things including taking up cider making now we're talking did you press the apples yourself oh yeah it's really hard work it's really it's really tough and it takes a long time where do you get your apples from because cider apples aren't they're not the sort of normal apples you grow in a garden well i mean fortunately for us they are the kind that we um grow in our garden so we managed to make about 60-ish liters just from our garden but how lovely and you've sampled it oh yes it's good strong strong nothing wrong with that what fun um now 33 or less gets you through i think i know all of them good gonna go for one which i think is named after a robot from greek myth whose weakness was his ankle i'm gonna go for the medical name for the ankle bone is the tarles the talus the talus says william okay here's your red line let's see if we can get you below that with tarles tarlis is right and you're through very well done indeed william down that goes to three that's a great answer the best score of the round so far taking your total up for 38. uh yeah it's just latin for ankle or heel tarus i mean they must have come up with it somehow they must have they probably named it after something they must have done we keep saying we get things from the latin you think yeah where did they get them from yeah yeah exactly that's the question here's the question okay thank you uh right georgia welcome back uh but tell us more about yourself georgian um so you might not know from looking at me or you might um but i am a very big one direction fan ah i did know that from looking at you actually i did i had that i thought yeah are you and have been ever since the beginning oh yeah absolutely i went to one of their concerts in 2014 and it was definitely the highlight of my young life best member of one direction that's so hard to choose but harry styles sorry it was zayn sorry it's been lovely to have you on the show though [Laughter] have you transferred your affection to harry's career as a soloist or yeah i think his music is also very good okay now georgia what are you gonna go for so i i think i know two one of them would be a big guess i think i'm gonna go well actually they're both big guesses but i'm gonna go for the force used to move a body forwards and i think it's thrust thrust okay let's see if thrust is right here is your red line you're not looking confident at all let's find out thrust will it get you below that red line it's right and it does there you are 31 very good indeed takes your total up to 48. very well done yeah and aerodynamics thrust is there is what uh counteracts drag essentially there we are thank you very much indeed richard lisa welcome back to your third and final points uh tell us more about yourself lisa uh so i'm married to mark it's our wedding anniversary in a few weeks hold on a moment hi mark uh we didn't we haven't we have we didn't mention you up till now silver wedding anniversary that's brilliant congratulations sorry lisa okay um we spent a lot of time in majorca my parents owned a place there for many years so we somehow did new yorker a lot so lovely whereabouts in um which is about i love that i asked that if you you could said anything anything if you said daya no it's not no it's just about 15 minutes outside of palmer beautiful so they sold it unfortunately but we still go back yes so still it's a place you know and love it is very well yes yeah good okay lisa you are on 39. talk us through the board so the principal male sex hormone is testosterone the element with chemical symbol sn i think is tin i don't know the other two i can't even hazard a guess at the serbian american inventor obviously testosterone is not going to be enough so i'm going to have to go for the second one down and say tin tin well let's find out 29 looks like this in terms of red line can you get below that with tin let's find out tin is right oh so near so near 37. takes your total up to 76. unlucky lisa um testosterone uh as so often would not have helped uh because it would have scored 60 points uh the other two would have seen you through though the largest moon of saturn titan titan is it yeah it is titan absolutely 24 points for that and do you know the uh inventor i i don't know batteries electricity all sorts of things nikola tesla uh that would have scored 27. there we are thank you very much indeed richard uh so at the end of our first round we have to say goodbye to one of our pairs oh this is terribly sad lisa and charlie you've been fantastic you're our golden couple in the last show i'm sorry we have to say goodbye thank you so much for playing lisa and charlie but for the remaining three pairs it's now time for round two [Music] [Applause] [Music] there we are down to three pairs very well done everybody made it through to round two best of luck to everybody our category for that is eurovision words can you all decide in your pairs who's gonna go first who's gonna go second and whoever's going first please step up to the podium okay let's find out what the question is here it comes we gave 100 people 100 seconds to name as many words of three or more letters in the titles of uk eurovision song contest entries as they could richard yep simply that from 1957 through to 2019 any word of three letters or more in uh the title of one of our eurovision entries i'm in the title of one of our eurovision entries yeah fantastic ah i'm there must be a chance to fill the jacket you'd have thought so surely uh right georgia i'm not a big eurovision watcher but i'm gonna go with a word that i think is probably just in a lot of songs and say love love surely let's see how many of our 100 people said love is it right he's right not bad down to 18. good start 18 for love that's clever isn't it clever answer yeah it's been used 12 times in uh there's even one once for the uk a song with love in the title thank you very much indeed richard now then william yeah i can think of lots of artists who have competed um for the uk and i'm struggling to actually remember the names of the song so i think i'm going to have to take a similar tactic and go for a word i think might be quite common just in song titles generally and say you you surely you let's see how many of our 100 people said you and unsurprisingly there it is oh it's a point it's on look at that it's a pointless answer william very well done indeed that adds 250 pounds to today's jackpot takes the total up to 2750 pounds scores you nothing and earns you our undying respect well done i mean it's even cleverer isn't it in some ways uh yeah that's been in seven eurovision entries uh never one but it's been a seven entries thank you very much indeed deb yes what are you thinking of i'm thinking of kisses kisses says deb i remember that let's see how many of our 100 people said that it's right 18 is our high score nothing is our low there we are down to 11 11 kisses uh yes and that appeared uh in one uh which is the one you're thinking of yeah and that we can't discuss no yeah very well but it's now in my head that's nice uh thank you very much indeed well before we head back down the line let's have a look at those scores nothing william that's the best score of the past then we travel up till 11 where we find deb and david then up to 18 who could believe it that's our high score i thought that was a brilliant score at the time now we put it in context come on kitty we need a low scoring answer from you in the next part so good luck with that uh we're gonna come back down the line uh will the second players please step up to the podium there we are so david um remember we're looking for words of three or more letters that appeared in the title of any song by a uk eurovision entry um i think i'm gonna go with boom boom says david there is your red line david very low scoring round boom there it is takes you down to 18 and that takes your total up to 29. yeah and once again just appeared the once and uh you know when it was i know when it was uh talk about when it was but uh yeah very different tactics on podium 3 with actual songs yeah very specific interesting interesting see if it pays off yeah now then nigel nigel 28 or less gets you through there was a song i'm pretty sure i had the word tonight in it tonight shall we put it to the test i think so tonight here comes your red line there we are there's your red line nigel let's see if tonight can get you below that red line let's find out oh no [Music] not tonight it's quite a phrase uh that i'm afraid is wrong scores you 100 points takes your title up to 100 sorry nigel i'm just looking through all the answers here and there's so many pointless words i i find it extraordinary that tonight is not amongst them but it isn't now we are thank you very much indeed now then kitty that's opened the door a little bit for you yes although i'm gonna have to go with a similar tactic to georgia and just guess a random word okay i think i will go for like okay like love scoring 18 you think maybe like yeah takes it down a great let us find out here is your red lines really a question whether or not it's right like no bad luck bad luck an incorrect answer there scores you 100 points takes your total up to 118 and brings nigel and william back into the field yeah again that tactic worked so perfectly on the way up and then seemed to crash stand on the way uh back down yeah no likes at all um i'm just going to go through the uh the big scorers because they they give us a little kind of um snapshot of our eurovision entries i won't give the scores but the high score was 38. so these are the big scorers making mind your puppet boom congratulations love string bang a bang kisses shine light for save all i mean got it those are the sort of four or five biggest eurovision hits uh right there there's loads and loads and loads and loads of pointless answers i'll take you through a few of them the first one is weird it's r from uh gina g's who are just a little bit um and ooh scored one point so so someone went for what's after ooh i forget uh baby can ah baby can uh cry devil further one step further by bardo a bit of the devil you know by sonia message universe wrong i mean listen there's thousands of uh again always mary anne are bad beg belong better borrow box children days don't enough even fire free games get girl give giving heart high hold you get the idea i get the idea there's lots and lots of pointless answers out there interesting thank you very much indeed richard well that brings us to the end of our second round it means we have to say goodbye to another pair and kitty and georgia you are that pair with your high score of 118 it was all looking so good with the first first pass there um we'll see you again next time for your third and final attempt um meanwhile thank you very much indeed kitty and georgia but for the remaining two pairs it's now time for the head to head [Music] congratulations david and deb nigel and william you are now one step closer to the final and a chance to play for the jackpot which currently stands at 2 750 pounds but before we play the head dead let's see if we can't put some more money into that jackpot by finding a couple of pointless answers here goes we gave 100 people 100 seconds to name as many motorway service stations as they could rich oh that's a good one oh we can probably have a go at this i would between us between the six of us surely uh yeah we're gonna put six names on the board four of them will be uk motorway service stations two of those will be uh pointless there'll be two fake ones as well so it's motorway service stations or motor no way service stations thanks great oh okay so yes feel free to compare notes here here come our six candidates for pointless motorway services and we've got hopwood park armitage annandale water leicester forest west blackburn with darwin and woolley edge what do we think blackboard i think leicester forest west brings it sounds like it would be one but uh i mean the others are all places but um yeah have you ever i have no idea i've not driven not many no so david and deb what are you going to go for it doesn't sound like uh um mo twice motorway service station so maybe i'll go for that uh armitage okay armitage let's find out his armitage uh pointless motorway services no it doesn't sound like a motorway service it's good it's not a midway service uh nigel and william what are you gonna go for i mean leicester forest west sounds plausible so i think yeah we'll go with lesser foreign forest west let's find out is that a pointless motorway services oh no well done though that's good you managed to find the two incorrect answers that's good statistically as easy slash difficulties uh i would have gone for leicester forrest west as well because it's leicester forest east there is but not less the forest west and simon armitage wrote a rather lovely poem about uh motorway service stations oh wait i think it's armitage because they make uh the ceramics toilets yeah exactly yeah yeah for as in as limited as in welcome break yeah exactly uh so listen there's two pointed sciences here but i mean what do you reckon oh well have you been to any of these yes no i have not knowingly no i'm possibly annandale water i've been to which is up in scotland should we put up let's say that's ghost points okay let's say anna dale water scores a point absolutely does there's still two pointless answers go for blackburn with darwin and hopwood park as our two points as your two pointless answers okay black bomber diamond is that a pointless answer it is that's very good is hotwood park the other pointless answer come on absolutely right well done and that is a welcome break willie ate at the bottom there is a moto of course it is yeah thank you very much indeed richard uh well bad luck we didn't find any pointless answers but what fun we had learning about motorway service stations uh let's play the head-to-head [Applause] [Music] now the first player to win two questions we'll be playing for that jackpot and you are now allowed to confer before you give your answers best of luck to both pairs here comes the first question and it is all about actors in the great escape richard yeah five actors from the great escape now but uh can you name the most obscure of these five please thank you very much indeed let's reveal the five actors and here they come we've got a b c d and e there we are five actors from the great escape david and deb you are our golden couple so you get to go first um i think we'll go for c richard attenborough okay richard attenborough for c c richard attenborough nadine nigel and william do you want to talk us through that board okay the first is charles bronson uh steve mcqueen is b uh he i think is gordon jackson one for upstairs downstairs is gordon jackson's name yeah gordon jackson you're gonna say e gordon jackson so we've got richard attenborough we've got gordon jackson uh david and deb have gone for richard attenborough for c let's see how many of our 100 said that richard attenborough absolutely right down he goes to 20 good answer nigel and william have gone for e and are saying gordon jackson let's find out cowley from the uh from the professionals of course um is that gordon jackson though let's find out how many people said it it is gordon jacks and it went to the point and it goes down to three very well done indeed nigel and william after one question you are up one nil lovely answer well played or it really makes me want to watch the great escape again yeah such a good film and now eight was charles bronson you're absolutely right the tunnel king he would have scored you 19. the cooler king hilts steve mcqueen there he would have scored you 60. uh and d one of our hundred remarks that he looks an awful lot like simon pig's dad which i think which i don't know i could buy that yeah uh but it's the mole played by angus lenny angus lenny very well done if you knew that's a pointless answer thank you very much indeed richard well here comes your second question now david and deb you've got to win this one stay in the game but nigel and william get to answer it first so very very best of luck our second question this afternoon is all about brass instruments richard yeah i'm going to show you the names now are five brass instruments but we'll turn it to letters missing but what are these instruments please okay thank you very much indeed can you supply the missing letters to these brass instruments we have got b g e c r e t u p t s u a h n and e p o i there we are right nigel and william will go first we think that the last one is a euphonium a euphonium say nigel and william now then david and deb it's over to you can you talk us through these instruments bugle for the top one i think um cornets next one trumpet for the next one i think the next one could it be a serious thing so we have got euphonium and we've got sousaphone um nigel and william have gone for euphonium for the bottom one let's see how many of our 100 people said that euphonium is right and down it goes to 28. not bad will sousaphone beat euphonium let's find out sousaphone sousaphone is right this will bring you back into the game david and deb if it is yes it's it's a better answer down it goes to 12. very well done indeed david dev after two questions it's one or yeah that board was always going to be a question of whether you phone your sousaphone scored the fewest wasn't it and there you go i think it's score fewest because some people see the first letter immediately realize it's not saxophone and then give up yeah that's my thing on that one um let's look at the scores of the other ones bugle would have scored 66 cornet would have scored 30 and trumpet 88 biggest scorer of all thank you very much indeed richard okay now here comes the decider whoever wins this third question goes through to the final and plays for that jackpot best of luck to both pairs our third question is all about beasts richard yep simply five clues relating to beasts in some way whichever team does the lowest scorer uh will go through to play for the jackpot best of luck to both pairs here come our five clues cold and wintry conditions in the uk as a result of winds from the near continent are said to be the result of the beast from this compass point english title of the fairy tale known in french as la belle et la bet county in which the phantom cat the beast of bodmin was first said to have been cited in the 1980s band who had a 2017 uk number one album with sleep well beast and art movement led by ori matisse which derives its name from the french for wild beasts there we are david and deb will go first the basement beast from the east [Music] um i think we're gonna have to go with the second one down beauty and the beast beauty and the beast say david and deb beauty and the beast now nigel and william can you talk us through that board well the first one is the beast from the east the second bald men's in cornwall um should we go from number five well i think we don't know the album but uh would be shouldn't it but the name of the movement i i think if the cat from cornwall yeah confidence yeah yeah of course could we have cornwall cornwall for bodmin okay so we have beauty and the beast and we have cornwall uh dave and deb went for beauty and the beast let's see how many of our 100 said that for labelle alabet beauty and the beast is right down that goes to 58. meanwhile nigel and william have gone for bodmin cornwall let's see if cornwall is right how many of our 100 people said it cornwall for the beast of bodman coleman's right is it going to be yes it is down that goes very well down to 26 and through you go nigel and william on your first appearance on the show to the final 2-1 very well played let's see what else could have won the points here um so the first one is course beast from the east it's the biggest scorer that would have scored you 71. uh the band with the number one album the national the national yep we like a bit under the national don't we uh would have scored one point and the best answer was the art movement da da isn't it phobism or the phovists oh the phobias and that was scored you nothing at all there we are thank you very much well the pair leaving us at the end of the head-to-head round it's david and deb nothing to worry about because we're going to see you again next time we'll look forward to that very much but uh thank you very much for playing uh meanwhile david and deb but for nigel and william it is now time for the pointless fun well huge congratulations nigel and william you've fought off all the competition and you have won our coveted pointless trophy [Music] you now have a chance to win our pointless jackpot and at the end of today's show the jackpot is standing at 2750 pounds well you've you've done it all in one show uh what do you want to see come up in this last round what's going to help you take that jackpot back to west berkshire with a bit of greek myth would be nice um some nice mathematics or something maybe some wines ciders that sort of thing as always you get a list to choose from four things we just have to hope there's something there that you like the look of so here we go we can offer you these the 2020 tour de france the titles of spy novels odd place names lloyd webber on film what do we think so so we know if you use spine levels don't we um i don't really that's i'm more cycling odd place names could be anything couldn't it yeah i mean i don't know anything about the cycling sugar for the spine novels i mean yeah you read a lot of them so yeah i'll go for the titles of spine novels okay spy novels dears yeah it could be a good one if you uh if you like your spy authors we're looking for any word of four letters or more in the title of any novel by any of the following three please up to october 2020. so um len dayton novels frederick forsyth novels or the great john le carre novels so four letters or more in the titles of any of those novels please thank you very much indeed now as always you got up to a minute to come up with three answers all you need to win that jackpot of 2750 pounds is for just one of those answers to be pointless let's put 60 seconds up on the clock there they are your time starts now okay do you any obscure books by any of them i was thinking of the naive and sentimental love of life john mccarry oh yeah i'm sentimental because it's a it's a romance okay uh any do you know any other once of microwave stuff what else is that i know i could figure out random words instead um there's um the spine people need these i suppose came in from the cold and i feel like the beautiful size dogs of war maybe dogs yeah okay um do you know anything about undead and dayton horse underwater billion dollar brain okay so do you think under maybe yeah middle one yeah so okay yeah yeah yeah okay okay okay we're gonna stop the clock there we go before we've even got down to ten seconds uh let's have your three answers and if you could say which order you're talking about okay so for len dayton we'd like to say under under for frederick forsyth dogs dogs and john lucari sentimental sentimental of those three which is your best shot do you think at a pointless answer uh le carre yeah yeah okay sentimental goes last we'll put that last least likely to be pointless probably dogs dogs and then under goes in the middle yeah okay well let's put those answers up on the board in that order and here they are we have got dogs under sentimental they look very good up there on the board i must say even if they don't win any kind of jackpot for you they look great on the board but wouldn't it be lovely if one of these turns out to be pointless and you can leave here with two thousand seven hundred fifty pounds what would you like to do that nigel i'm going to ask you first um i'd like to do some traveling i think um i think what i really want to do is follow the ashes at down under lovely next winter fantastic indeed um william how about you uh well i really wanted to do a driving tour of france with some friends visit some wine regions visit some classical sites would be uh a lot of fun uh very good indeed well best of luck let's hope one of these answers wins it for you uh your first answer is dogs we're on freddy forsyth freddie because we're on first first two syllable terms um frederick forsyth you're going for dogs uh let's see how many of our 100 people said dogs for 2 750 pounds might it be pointless dogs is right for frederick forsyth down we go through the 30s into the 20s still going down through the teens single figures still going down the dogs still going down two that's not bad at all okay that's giving us a sense of our range i think um it's looking very good if that was the one you thought was your least likely to be pointless uh you've got two excellent uh further answers to to test under is your next one we're now on len dayton let's find out is which it's words of four or more letters in any title of any len dayton novel for 2 750 pounds is under pointless unders right dogs was right took us all the way down to two under now absolutely on the money taking us down through the teens it's single figures still going down with under still going down passing two you've done it ah that is fantastic very very well done indeed nigel and william under was a pointless answer you are taking home today's jackpot of two thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds you down as you say horse underwater by len dayton uh water was also pointless a horse would have scored one so again someone went for horse and then neglected the rest of it um now i wonder nigel if you just said a pointless record i suspect you might have done literally in the first i would say two seconds of your 60 seconds you said uh the naive and sentimental lover it might be the quickest we've ever had three pointless answers in our entire life naive sentimental and lover would all have been there for the science of union to go for one of them uh which you did but uh very well played a lovely category fell very very nicely um let's take a look at some len dayton novel shall we um we had a trilogy faith hope and charity all three of those words were pointless answers uh an expensive place to die places also pointless spy story twinkle twinkle little spy little was also a pointless answer there um now frederick forsyth you could have had alternative cobra file negotiator afghan avenger deceiver fist icon list uh manhattan and phantom all of those were pointless uh john le carrey you had no even sentimental lover one of my absolute favorite john the carrie books is the looking glass war constant constant gardener girl a little drama girl legacy of spies panama also there um you could have had absolute you could have absolute friends both of those are there germany honourable quality looking glass mission pilgrim uh schoolboy single all sorts of good answers there for john mccarry very well done if you've got any of those at home and congratulations yeah three pointless answers in i would say 1.8 seconds i'm going to say that's got to be this got to be tough to beat it's got to be a record thank you very much indeed richard thanks once again to our winning players nigel and william who take away today's jackpot of two thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds join us next time when we'll be putting more obscure knowledge to the test on pointless meanwhile it's goodbye from richard goodbye daddies goodbye from me goodbye [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
