we do Laura Hamilton she is a champ can you believe it that's too much preure and team Place in the Sun looks pretty good place in the sun is essentially when uh love Iden gets a mortgage it's essentially what that show is always always competitive sports star always and always good standups as well so it's going to be a very competitive one I think I should think so thank you very much indeed Richard well as this evening shows our celebrity special each of our celebrities is playing for a nominated charity so we're therefore going to start off with a jackpot of £2,500 right if everyone's ready let's play pointless now here's something for you just to bear in mind as we're playing we will always be eliminating the pair with the highest score at the end of each round so if you want to get through each round make sure your scores are low very very best of luck to all of you our first category this evening is food and drink can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first who's going to go second and whoever's going first please step up to the [Music] podium okay and the question concerns sea food Richard yes on each board we're going to show you nine pictures of food that begins with c we'll show you the first and last letter of each of them as well can you identify any of these Foods please there'll be nine on the first board on the way up nine more on the way back down so there's going to be 18 in all to try and identify at home okay so let's reveal our first Board of food items and here they are C foods and we have got CT CS CS C CT CN CS CT CL goodness gracious me now Georgia welcome to points it's lovely to have you here you are a model and influencer yes much like myself um that takes you all over the world doesn't it I mean you must have be some pretty fabulous spes which would you say is the most fabulous place you have been one of my recent shoots is in mikinos and that was just beautiful um yeah a really really beautiful place that's rather fabulous so how do it work do you go out there for a few days you get a decent time well I'm really lucky I get to travel a lot but it is quite a quick turnaround like I was there for 4 days working for three and the traveling days as well so yeah it's not like a luxury as such it's just a massive benefit to be able to travel it has to look luxurious while still being hard work for you see you're working very hard everyone presumes he goes well nice work if you get it Georgia uh now then what are you going to go for on our board here um I think I'm going to go for the top left coconut coconut says Georgia let's see how many of our 100 people said coconut coconut is absolutely right down it goes to 73 not bad a solid start yeah 61 million tons of coconuts were uh were made worldwide in 2022 do you make coconuts you grow them don't grown pied I suppose yeah you don't make them in a lab and make them produced it's not like you take bounties and mush them together into a coconut shape and then although that's a pretty good idea I would let's reverse engineer a bounty why not why not done thank you very much indeed Richard Jasmine welcome great to have you here now apart from A Place in the Sun you've also been making documentaries I have I've done quite a few documentaries for the you did one called the truth about your teeth that's right tell what is it about my teeth it was amazing and I learned so much about how to take care of your teeth but actually the thing that was most interesting about it for me was the fact that so many people don't go to the dentist because of a phobia and it was helping those people overcome their phobia of the dentist and it was truly amazing I don't know why they chose me to front a documentary called the truth about your teeth but you've done a few documentaries about sort of mental health andal stuff like that yeah I have some experience in my own personal life of various mental health issues so it means a lot to me excellent Now Jasmine food stuffs beginning with C what are you going to go for I'm going to go for top right cockal cockal says Jasmine let's see how many of our 100 said cockal cockal is absolutely right 73 is the only score we have at the moment and you whiz past it down to 20 very well done 20 play Jasmine you get the minow Welsh breakfast a you sometimes cockles I wonder if any students are watching at home a good game would be you got to cook something with all these ingredients so far got coconut and okay yeah also a good name for a double act great name for a detective duo in fact as well coconut yeah coconut and cockal absolutely really good idea uh Topsy welcome welcome now when was your first your debut match as an England International Rugby player June 2008 June 200 do you remember that match I do very well 14th of June 14 in Auckland Eden Park Auckland debut game against the All Blacks we lost but uh scored two tries you SC twice against the or blacks yeah I mean that's well that'll do I mean presume those 80 minutes just go yeah they fly by it's only even now where you can really look back and go yeah I did that fantastic tell me about the bath 301 yeah it's uh a bit of a passion project so um I played 301 times London Irish my former club which is a club record and having to keep an attachment with the club decided to set a pop-up bar so myself and former teammate Connor Gilson and we said what can we do we ended up converting a Land Rover Defender into a bar Taps on the side with a every match day and with a place to come pregame post game come and have a good time that might be the most rugby story I've ever heard yeah um Topsy what are you going to go for on our Board of Seafoods I'm going to go bottom left chickpeas chickpeas says Topsy let's see how many of our 100 people said chickpeas CHP is Right 73 is the high score depart 58 chickpeas I play Topsy also something called garbanzo beans you imagine though in the ' 80s chickpeas would have scored like three three yeah go what are these chickpeas you speak of 58 they're taken over 58 yeah well there you go so chickpeas coconut and cockos now okay I'm still on a kind of maybe a tie Curry it's like Master Chef the professionals isn't it good exactly yeah uh thank you very much indeed Richard ah Dane welcome great to have you here thank you stand up you have toured three shows do you have a favorite is that an unfair thing to ask a stand up um I feel like it's Mak like making you pick between kids but at the same time I think every show in forms another show so yes but I guess it's the one that I've done most recently is probably my favorite one because it's the one I'm actively doing and is at the Forefront of my mind so you see that's a sign of good things I would say because it's if if you're feeling nostalgic about your first show you need to move on dig deep yeah dig deep and uh go back to some old material so yes well very good indeed so have you got a show on the on the at the moment are you about you about to start a new one I'm about to start a new one it's called Bap Squire and that's all I'll say that is all we should hear yeah okay in case of it doesn't work now so okay now Dane um listen you're the last person to have this board do you want to talk us through all of these food items but I'm not sure if I know what all of them are so I would say at the center I'm hoping is camon bear camon bear says Dane shall we see if it is camon bear how many people recognized it camon bear is right well 73 still the high score 20 still the low score 45 the cam bear not bad well Play Day nicely done that's made the dish that people are going to have to make slightly harder hard coconut and chickpeas you can sort of see a way through that now you're put C and bear in it as well still enjoy let's go through the rest of these shall we um top row chives Shives would have scored you 50 points next row Clementine Clementine that would have scored 61 the next one this would have been a nice one to go with the cockal coconut and chickpeas I yeah I bet it would cumin is what is what it is very well don't if you said that at home that would have scored 23 next one is a c is a cant absolutely 17 do you know this last one no I don't I love it though look at it it's a canistel a canistel never heard of it pointless answer very well done if you said it thank you Richard we're halfway through the round let's have a look at those scores Jasmine what about that 20 best score of the P I'm very very pleased with that even though it wasn't vegan I'm still pleased with it yes warm those cockal now we travel from 20 up to 45 which is where we find danne and Kai and from there to 58 where we find Topsy and Maggie from there to 73 where we find Georgia and David David you're a little bit ahead let's hope there's a lovely low scoring piece of food that you and only you know the answer to on the next board very best of luck with that we're going to come back down the line now with the second players please step up to the podium so remember we are looking for the names of these food stuffs they all begin with a c and here is our next Board of nine we've got CH H CS c r c a Cy c r CC Cs and CN there we are Kai welcome to pointless great to have you here what was your root into comedy Kai I kind of just fell into it I kind of felt like my life was just a series of embarrassing moments and then I thought there must be a way to monetize this and right I was right was it an embarrassing moment when you first went on stage or was did you Triumph no I was like a dare with my mates they kind of made me go up on stage and I bombed for about five minutes they were heckling me it was awful still recovering from it to be honest with you but you came off stage said I've got to do that again exactly I was like I got that kind of urge and I was like I've I've got to win them basically one day get to pointless that's where I want to get to in my career and here you are answering what sure has to be the dream board food stuffs beginning with C you're on 45 27 or less would see you straight through to the next round I think I'm going to go bottom right and say cinnamon cinnamon let's see how many of our 100 people said cinnamon here is your red line Cinnamon's right not bad 7 cinnamon takes your total up to 115 cinnamon cockal though cinnamon cockal oh lovely coconut and cockal yeah coconut got busted unfortunately he was in prison But A new cop is in town cinnamon cinnamon cockal is getting used to his new partner cockal well muscles Dave yeah exactly yeah nice alive alive o thank you very much indeed Maggie welcome now my goodness the enormous achievements you have to your name you won a Rugby World Cup you were part of a team that won seven six nations I mean quite extraordinary do you look back on your career and think there was one point that was just the best of all or are the several if I'm honest the one point is being here today I mean you said the right you shall win this is when I know I've actually made it now all seriousness winning the World Cup with my teammates back in 2014 was incredibly special because we had gone to two previous World Cups before and had lost so to to win on our third attempt was great absolutely fantastic and then you were the first female rugby player to commentate on a men's match as well how was that um I'm not going to lie to you it was uh France versus I think Romania so um having to learn the names was quite a challenge say yeah that's yeah I I had to really work on that but um I had to take it in my stride I enjoyed the moment I love rugby so regardless of the gender it was nice to be able to talk about a sport that I know quite well lovely now Maggie 58 is your score at the moment 56 or less gets you into the next round what are you going to go for there's a few options I'm going to go for the top line in the middle I'm going to say cus cuscus let's see how many of our 100 said kuskus here's your red line kuskus is Right Gets You Through as well look at that beautiful economy 53 is what it scores takes your total up to 111 yeah very well played Maggie that's another one that wouldn't have got over 50 a few years ago isn't it cuscus right yeah cuscus cuscus and chickpeas actually cuscus and cockal would go quite well I mean not as a as a double Axe really yeah I don't know about cuscus and cinnamon someone must have tried it lovely there we go thank you very much indeed now then Laura welcome lovely to have you here what was your root Laura into presenting I started behind the scenes in television when I was 18 so I started as a runner getting tees and coffees still makes me get teas and coffees for her actually um and then I became an assistant flaw manager and worked on all different shows from like top of the pops and actually I think it helped me as a presenter because as a floor manager you're on talk back you know you're ear piece and so then when you're presenting do you find when you're presenting you're sort of looking around going yeah house lights are still on also yeah that cable needs to be moved yeah you do end up kind of you know you're part of the crew you're part of the team but that's nice uh anyway now Laura you are on 20 if you can score 94 or less okay you are into the next round essentially it's a correct answer I'd say the bottom left think it's salc you're going to say CC sarc here is your red line I hope so let's see if we can get you below this red line with C look how high that is perfectly right and you're in round two with bags of R to spare down he go to 28 very well done indeed 48 your total yeah that's the answer of a champion Jamie Oliver described CC as the United Kingdom's most underrated vegetable yes that's quite a claim it's quite a claim it be a good TV series United Kingdom's most underrated vegetable oh shall we find it yes so let's go ahead and find the United Kingdom's most under underrated vegetable sarc yeah I mean if you have some mashed salc yes it's always going to be a bit disappointing it's not mashed potato really I'm going to say that I think it's it's it's a poor second to potato I still think potato is Britain's most underrated vegetable and I know we rate and I rate it yeah but it's underrated it's underrated we should rate it higher there we are said it cerc and cinnamon that M and cuscus that's not so Christmasy not so christmy no no David welcome to what a smile look at that fantastic David welcome to point it's great to have you here now Bea Weekender yeah you're the rep on that were you a rep beforehand no I'd actually never worked abroad I was never in the industry I found the application form applied got it I mean had you seen what reps do and thought I could probably do that I don't yeah I went on a holiday with my mates when I turned 18 to cavos and I saw all the Reps out there living the best life I'm thinking that's a bit it they thought I'll do that but I'll do it in one step better I'll do it on tell absolutely fantastic I mean now you could teach reps a thing of two exactly I there's nothing you haven't seen well got some stories go on then probably not tea time maybe not um so you kind of you learned the ropes with the cameras following you yeah I mean that's amazing I me as suppose what we did yeah exactly still we're still hopeless so we're still hopeless now David what are you going to go for we're looking for 41 or less from you um I'm going to go wave the right in the middle is it caviar you're going to say caviar right in the middle uh let's see here is your red line can we get you below that with caviar caviar is right oh oh oh no 46 I thought that was going all the way down David I'm so sorry that takes your total up to 119 that is unlucky David at least you've gone out on a classy answer that's something is it that's something let's take a look at the rest of these a few other answers up here that would have seen you through top left crayfish crayfish that's exactly what that is that would have seen you through would have scored 20 points a top right would not have seen you through cauliflower cauliflower that would have scored 68 the middle also would many cherry beautiful looking shiny cherries someone's been polishing their cherries someone has been polishing their cherries is they 72 this next answer would have seen you tied we' have had a playoff if you'd said those all chestnuts chestnuts yeah would have scored 42 now this last one this on the last board we had one that none of us have heard of I suspect none of us have heard of this unless we know our South American fruit I don't like the look of that I'm not sure it's a fruit I'll get on Mark Twain said it was the greatest fruit known to man oh really Mark Twain well if he says that he's right and he tried all sorts it is a cherya and that was a pointless answer very well done if you said that home someone would have said it from South America yeah a cheremoya chera we should check that out we should check out the cheremoya chera flan maybe oh that be nice be nice oh Jeremiah and PE crumble oh now you're talking Frey we're talking thank you very much indeed well that brings us to the end of our first round but it sadly means we have to say goodbye to our first pair David in Georgia I can't bear it I'm devastated we' just got here we're just getting to know you and I'm going to send you away it was my fault I picked no it was it no no but it's fine fine there are no Faults in pointless there's only one solution for this you're going to have to come back and play again please we'd love that oh I I would I would yeah with someone else thank you very much David and Georgia you for the remaining three pairs it's now time for run two very well done everybody we made it through that round with flying colors Jasmine the most flying of them all very well done our lowest individual scorer and Jasmine and Laura our lowest combined scorers I mean by a margin I don't mind saying so very very well done that would appear to be the pair to beat best of luck to all three pairs our category for round two this evening is hobbies and Trends can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first who's going to go second and whoever's going first please step up to the podium [Music] okay and the question concerns craes and fads Richard yeah six Clues on each board to various crazes and fads from over the years we'll give you the initials of the answer as well thank you very much indeed so we are looking for these six crazes and fads described by these Clues and we have got a naval engineer invented this toy by accident when he was trying to find a way to keep fragile agile cargo steady in ships s a fashion trend in the 1980s these were popularized by us soap operas such as Dynasty s these throwing toys were first sold as Pluto platters in the 1950s F craze which involved tipping cold water over your head and nominating friends to do the same IBC a loose fitting novelty item of clothing which covers the whole body and often the head and feet a o and name given to a hairband with two bobbing anteni like attachments DB there we go Jasmine what do you think nice lows scoring answer from this board I'm going to go for the craze which involved tipping cold water over your head and nominating friends to do the same the Ice Bucket Challenge ice bucket challenge says Jasmine let's see how many of our 100 said that ice bucket challenge is Right 62 for ice bucket challenge he yeah when uh President George W Bush was nominated to do it he uh filmed himself he said I'm not going to do this it's not my sort of thing but he filmed himself writing a check for the charity that was all for and then just as he finished writing the check his wife pulled the bucket of cold water over him so that's nice and then he nominated President Clinton very good thank you uh Richard now Maggie what are you thinking of I feel like I know the top one but I don't want to take the risk same with the third one um I am going to play it safe and hope that Topsy will bring it home so I'm going to go with the uh loose fitting novelty item of clothing so onesie onesie says Maggie let's see how many of our 100 said onesie onesie is absolutely right no way not bad down that goes to 26 great answer let say yeah it's interesting that lower score than you might think I didn't get it straight away I think maybe the letter o or something doesn't make the sound ofap they've had us presenting this show and bonies a few times haven't they oh yes over the years over the years I've been all sorts of things yes reindeer yes they're very comfy oh aren't they I'm usually Zing deenan yeah yeah whereas I barely wear Tres these days so yeah yeah sorry thank you very much indeed Richard now then Kai okay so this is my worst nightmare by the only two I knew but ice spy Challenge and onesie were the only two I know um okay I'm going to go with this is just definitely wrong these throwing toys were first sold as Pluto platters in the 1950s Flyers Flyers says Kai okay well it's a good attempt let's see how many of our 100 people said Flyers if it's right oh bad luck bad luck Kai I'm incorrect scores you 100 points yeah unlucky you know that one Kai the f is frisbee is the answer we were looking for how do I not know that named after the Frisbee Pi company frisbee where's the Frisbee Pi company in near Yale yeah bridport Connecticut um 43 points for that um now the top one is the best tricky that one I mean I'm thinking Slinky Slinky is the answer you know the thing that you go down the stairs Slinky um would have scored six points I don't know how it would work in that way they used to use it as radio antenna in the Vietnam War as well slinkies yeah um SP shoulder pads shoulder pads yeah would have scored you 38 and anyone of a certain age R well boers B it deie boers de boers boers boers and that would have scored 11 so Slinky is the best answer on the ball but you'd have been brave to go for it I think thank you very much indeed well we're halfway through the round let's have a quick look at those scores all I can tell you 26 Maggie is the best score of the pass very well done indeed nothing for Topsy to tidy up there and then we travel from there to 62 where we find Jasmine and Laura and there I'm afraid to 100 where we find Kai and Dane Dane you're going to get the new board maybe you'll find a lovely low-scoring answer there a de boers or Slinky type answer good luck with that we're going to come back down the line now will the second players please step up to the podium let's put six more clues to crazes and fads up on the board and here they are we ' got viral video Trend in 2013 which involved people making 30- second videos of themselves dancing with friends or colleagues HS rally bike which was based on dragster cars that was popular with children in the 1970s c a haircut that features cropped sides a short top and longer hair at the back M recognized as a 20th century design classic the first one of these bright inventions was called the Astro and went on sale in 1963 LL popular 1980s fashion accessory thanks to films like foot loose and Flash Dance and Jane Fonda Fitness videos LW and handheld digital pet that was invented in Japan and particularly popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s T there we are Dane uh I think I uh I'll go with the first one the viral video Trend in 2013 30 seconds with Dancing with friends or colleagues uh which I believe is a harlem shake Harem Shake says Daye no red line views you're the highest scorers at the moment let's see how many of our 100 said Harlem Shake Harlem Shake is right down goes har D this is a great answer very well done just what we needed from you 11 for Harlem Shake that's fantastic taking your total up to 111 I think you might have kept the door open for yourselves sir yeah very well played Dane exactly what you had to do 11 points it's funny the things that people get obsessed about for two or three weeks isn't it yeah fun though fun that's nice nice when there's something new well exactly yeah exactly Topsy you're on 26 84 or less Gets You Through right I'm going to go for the bottom one and I'm going to go Tamagotchi Tamagotchi says Topsy here is your red line let's see if we can get you below that with Tamagotchi tamag got's right in your through very well done indeed goes down to 43 takes your total up to 69 nicely play Topsy anyone here have a Tamagotchi I did yeah yeah not anymore Richard oh I'm sorry to hear that oh thanks very much indeed Richard uh now Laura you're on 62 48 or less Gets You Through do you want to talk us through the board I know a few on him I'm I think the one that's going to have the lowest answer is the one that I don't know the answer to and I do and Jazz does um so the bike is a chopper um then you've got a mullet the answer I don't know is the the next one down and then you've got leg warmers so I think the chopper you're going to go for the chopper here's your red line let's see if we can get you below this red line with chopper hope it's right it is right done it look at that very well done indeed Laura 27 is what it scores taking your total up to 89 well played Laura I really wanted to chop a bike when I was a kid oh my goodness i' have given anything for it uh the highest answer out there is the haircut mullet which is the mullet um the one you didn't know LL students had them lamp lava lamp lava lamp is the answer would have scored five best answer on the board uh and the fashion accessory leg warmers leg warmers uh what a score 44 so lava lamp best art board well done if you said that I home thank you very much indeed Richard that brings us to the end of our second round it means we have to say goodbye to our second pair old Dana and Kai I'm so sorry massively let side down there that is not that is not true K it's good to be here with you listen it's been lovely for us to have you both here thank you so much for coming to play I'm sorry we're saying goodbye so soon you're just going to have to come back and play again that's all there is to it the only way thank you very much indeed Dane and Kai for our two remaining pairs though it's now time for the head-to head congratulations Jasmine and Laur Topsy and Maggie you are now one step closer to the final and a chance to play for our jackpot which currently stands at 2500 however we now have a chance to put some more money in that by seeing if we can find a couple of pointless answers so here goes we gave 100 people 100 seconds to name as many Vision winning songs as they could Richard yep we're going to put six up on the board as always we've made two of them up all you've got to do is find two real ones that nobody mentioned at all we'll give you £250 for each one you get so good luck to everybody here thanks very much indeed seeing if you can find two pointless Eurovision songs okay here are six posses we've got Sant Trope Wonderland satellite wild dances Vivo cantando and rock me if anyone has any wisdom on this please share it with the room I feel like Wonderland was a real one but it's probably one that someone's heard of if I even if I vaguely heard of it then someone else would have definitely heard of it okay so Jasmine and Laura would you like to nominate a pointless Eurovision song what do you think go for it um if you think let's go for Vivo cando Vivo cantando should we find out if that is a pointless Eurovision winning song should be it's a Eurovision winning song that's for sure and it's a pointless one as well very well done indeed fantastic work Vio Cananda was a pointless Eurovision winning song Topsy and Maggie do you think you can find the other pointless Eurovision winning song I this feel I feel like the top one but that's seems too obvious yeah um rock me too obvious yeah what are you thinking what are you thinking okay Wonderland Wonder we're gonna go Wonderland you're G to go Wonderland should we find out if Wonderland is a pointless Eurovision winning song Oh no bad luck oh damn yeah unlucky Wonderland actually was the inaugural winner of the American song contest that started in in 202 that's of course it is uh but via cando I can just hear you two going we're taking Mike and Elaine to see a two-bedroom flight in Viva cando that was only reason I chose it to be honest they want plenty of space for the dog and for their family to come out and visit during the summer not that I've seen too much Place in the Sun in my time now let's look through the rest of these shall we satellite was a ler winner for Germany would have scored you one point and wild dances the Ukrainian winner in 2004 and wild dances would have scored you five so either santra pay and rock me one's wrong one is a pointless answer what are we thinking well I'm going to I mean should I tell you something even more one of these won the Eurovision song contest the other one is the name of the theme tune to the TV series Euro TR I think santre won the Eurovision song contest you are 100% wrong it is rock me I'm afraid for Yugoslavia and Centra pay was a theme tune to EUR there we go oh well well there we go we managed to find one pointless answer so well done you've added £250 to today's jackpot and it now therefore stands at £ 2750 but who'll be playing for it let's find out in the [Music] head-to-head now the first pair to win two questions we be playing for that jackpot and you are now allowed to confir before you give your answers so best of luck to both pairs here is our first question and it is all about actors who have appeared in both East Enders and Doctor Who Richard yeah we're going to show you five pictures now of actors and their initials who've appeared in both East Dennis and do who but who are they please thank you much indeed let's reveal our five actors here they come we've got a NW b t a o c b l d r w and E mc there we go Five actors Jasmine and Laura you get to go first so do you know any of the others from Nina oh I can't remember n's name she was in strictly wasn't she I think that TOS least Michelle I think Michelle yeah Michelle cins yeah I can't I can't think of the names no I can't we're going to go for Michelle Collins e for E Michelle Collins now Topsy and Maggie do you want to talk us through the board Michelle was our one obvious one that we definitely knew I think we've got two first names A and D A we've got Nadia just don't know Sur is D were thinking Richard could be the other two we don't know so Nadia Nadia oh man it's or orinal but I'm thinking D I'm going to have Richard Richard Whitehead Richard Whitehead but it sounds like an athlete it's an athletes name that is definitely athletes name but we're taking the risk okay we've got Michelle Collins we've got Richard Whitehead Now Jasmine and Laura have gone for Michelle Collins for E let's see how many of our 100 said that Michelle Collins is right Mel Collin 64 it all hangs in the ballot is Richard Whitehead correct for D let's find out if it is correct I think it'll beat that oh no bad luck not Richard Whitehead Jasmine and Laura well done after one question you're up 1 n yeah well played uh yeah not Richard Whitehead yeah I think it's a par Olympian isn't he Richard whad that's right this gentleman is Rudolph Walker oh my God scored you four points he appeared alongside Patrick trouton's doctor in two episodes yeah Michelle Collins in one episode alongside David Tenant now I see why you're saying nardia but because you can joined her first and surnames it's Nina wadia oh Nina wadia would have scored you 10 points next one along Trac an obman Trac an obman was the head of Torchwood and she would have scored you 15 and the one in the middle Bonnie Langford Bonnie Langford who was in both CHS for a long time and scores 59 there we are thank you very much indeed Richard now here comes your second question tops in Maggie you get to answer it first you've got to win it stay in the game so best of luck our second question is all about letters Richard yeah five Clues now are relating in some way to the word letter that's confusing isn't it let's reveal our five letter Clues and we've got Shakespearean play in which malvolio is tricked into wearing yellow stock shockings after receiving a fake love letter letter of the alphabet often put at the bottom of a text or letter to symbolize a kiss Scottish band composed of two brothers who released the single letter from America in 1987 a litera of name given to a woman who answers letters in the advice column of a magazine or newspaper and the word alphabet ultimately comes from the first and second letters of this language's alphabet there we are Topsy and Maggie get to go first there obviously there's an easy one obviously with yeah whether we've got any of the other ones was tricked into wearing yellow stockings um Scottish man composed of Two Brothers released the single letter from alternative name given to a woman who answers a l okay which you gonna go for Topsy and Maggie just have to get an answer don't yeah yeah uh we'll go the second one and we'll go X you're going to say X for the second one the kiss Now Jasmine and Laura do you want to talk us through the board so The Shakespearean play I'm trying to remember all the way back to my a levels um I have a feeling it was 12th night but I might be wrong so the Scottish band I think that's The Proclaimers that's quite obvious um alliterative name given to a woman that's an Agony a that's obvious as well the last one the word alphabet ultimately comes from the first and second letters of this language which is Greek that's alphab Vita I think we should go for that one we're going to go For Greek you're going to go For Greek so we have got X and we've got Greek uh Topsy and Maggie have said X denotes a kiss let's see how many of our 100 said that absolutely right it's a high one 84 for X meanwhile Jasmine and Laura have gone for Greek the language whose alphabet gives us the name alphabet Greek it's right and it wins the point for you very very well done indeed goes down to 44 but it means after only two questions Jasmine and Lori you are straight through to the final 2- n yeah as you say Alpha and beta combining to make alphabet we'll start with the one above you're quite right is an AG the AR it's a big scorer though would have scored you 70 points the Scottish band uh it is The Proclaimers absolutely it's another fairly big scorer would have scored you 39 now this top one you did at a level I did it at O Level you're quite right it's 12th night it's three points I wasn't sure well done if you said that at home three points I wasn't sure thank you very much indeed Richard very very well done Jasmine and Laura that brings us to the end of our head-to-head round and I'm afraid the pair leaving us at the end of it Topsy and Maggie it's it's been lovely having you on the show thank you so much for playing please come and play again Topsy and Maggie but for Jasmine and Laura it is now time for the pointless fin it well huge congratulations jasman and Lori you have fought off and you really have fought off all the competition and you have won our coveted pointless [Music] trophy yes you now get a chance to win our pointless jackpot for your Charities and at the end of today's show the jackpot is standing at £2,750 well that was a pointless answer from you that boosted that jackpot you also have come through 2-0 in the head-to-head the only thing between that jackpot and your Charities is a pointless answer so what would you like to see come up what sort of categories would be can like fruit and veg that would be my my number one category fruit and V it could be who knows you just never know so geography geography I'm useless I'll leave the geography to you hang on you travel the world with your job I know you don't know geography I've got satav I don't need to know the Geography okay well listen four things will appear on the board we just have to hope there's something here that you fancy having a crack at uh four things and they are polite pop music American battles Francis McDormand films nauy football finals what do we think yeah 100% pop music me are we going to go polite po we going polite pop music okay polite pop music it is okay we're looking for any act who have had a hit single up to the start of September 22 with the word please in its title or thank you in its titles and by youu it could be y u could be ya a could be single letter U so any version of youu Al so any act you've had a top 40 hit up to the beginning of September 22 with either please or thank you in its title very best of luck thank you very much indeed now as always you've got up to one minute to come up with three answers all you need to win that jackpot for your Charities is for just one of those answers to be pointless if you can find three pointless answers we'll throw in a £500 bonus are you ready we're ready okay let's put 60 seconds up on the clock there they are your time starts now thank you India byarm this Moret okay um that's the only one I can think of right now um um please please please actually had UK to singles um please not the D song thank you yeah D got Alanis moriset and we need one more I have absolutely no idea Harry Styles you say Harry Styles in which category please or thank you oh please okay please for Harry Styles please Harry okay right of those three which is your best shot at a pointless answer yeah I don't know let's say should we say Al Lan Moret should we put let's put Al Lan moris set last shall we and then we'll put Harry Styles first and put Dao in the middle okay okay well let's put those answers up on the board in that order and here they are we've got Harry Styles Dao and Alanis moriset well if one of these turns out to be pointless and wins that jackpot which Charities are you playing for Jasmine I'm G to ask you first I'm playing for the retreat animal rescue which is an animal sanctuary in Kent it's amazing run by a guy called Billy he's so passionate about rescuing farmed animals and so that's my charity very good indeed Laura and I'm playing for ITP support Association ITP is immune thrombocytopenia and it's something that I suffer from it's an autoimmune disease a low platelet count in your blood so I'm supporting them very good good on you two great Charities there let's hope one of these three answers wins that jackpot for those Charities uh in your first so we've gone for Harry Styles in this case we are looking for acts that have had UK Top 40 singles with please in the title how many of our 100 people said Harry Stars crucially though is it right no I'm afraid not it was a shot in the dark but you never know your next answer was Dao in this case we're looking for exactly the same criteria except with the word thank you in the title let's see how many of our 100 said Dao might she be pointless Dao is right now if Da goes all the way down to zero your Charities will be getting 2750 down we go with Dao through the 20s through the teens with Dao still going down 12 okay 12 that's right it's not bad good but it's not we now turn to Alanis moriset your third and final answer you were a little bit doubtful as to whether or not the word thank you does appear in the title but we will find out soon enough if it does and if Alanis Mar set is pointless £2,750 will be going to your charities alannis Moret is Right very well done indeed Harry Stars was incorrect da took us down to 12 Alanis morette now takes us down through the teens we're into single figures with alannis morette still going down still going down I can't it that's a fabulous answer oh I'm so sorry though I'm aned we didn't get the pointless answer one person said Alanis moris said I'm afraid you don't win today Jack of £ 2,750 however it's a celebrity special so we're going to donate £250 to the Charities of all eight of tonight's celebrities and of course you each get a lovely pointless trophy in recognition of a fabulous show you've been absolutely brilliant throughout the whole way through it so well done for that yeah very well played and unlucky you had a right off cracked it though didn't
