Hello everybody, welcome back to the channel!
POCO just launched their brand new X5 series which consists of the X5 as well as the X5
Pro. In today's video, this one right here, we will be covering the POCO X5 Pro that I've
actually been using for the past two weeks. I will also be covering the X5 in a different video
and you will be able to find the links down below. With that said, what is it about the POCO X5 Pro?
What's new? And what can you expect from this mid-range series? Well let's find out. Now before
I begin, it's worth mentioning that the X-Series is actually POCO's mid-range kind of line, and
they also have the M for their budget line, as well as the F for their flagships, so just to
set your expectations straight, this is actually competing in the mid-range category. Alright, so
what do we have here? Well in terms of the design, I do find that the latest X5 Pro here comes with
a lot of personality. I'm very happy to see that POCO is back with this full-out yellow kind of
back panel here which I think looks great by the way. Other than that, what I really like here
is that we have this sort of like frosted glass panel at the back and that is awesome because
we do not have any fingerprint stain at the back here, and it's just very smooth to touch
and overall, it just feels great. Now another thing that I noticed, a very slight detail on this
device, is that we do have a yellow colored power button and I think that's awesome! Again, those
little nice touches here and there really makes the personality of the phone shine. Last but
not least, what I also love here is that we do have this blacked out frame, which again looks
very sleek. And on the top, you might notice something - the headphone jack is still there!
So that's just in terms of the design. Overall, I mean I don't want to stress too much about
this but it is either you like it or hate it. Me personally, I'm a fan of this POCO X5 Pro and it
just looks great in my opinion. Alright! So what kind of improvements are we seeing to the X5 Pro
compared to last gen's X4 Pro? Well in a nutshell, we are seeing the biggest upgrade and that
is in terms of the processor. Previously, it used the Snapdragon 695 which is now being used
on the POCO X5 by the way, but on the X5 Pro here we are using the Snapdragon 778G. We also have
8GB of RAM as well as 256GB of internal memory. The internal memory is unfortunately no longer
expandable via MicroSD so I'm not sure if you use a MicroSD card slot, but it's not available
here. Anyway, in terms of the performance, the Snapdragon 778G is actually a proven processor.
It's not a new processor by any means. It has been out for almost, I think more than a year by now,
but it's actually still a very solid processor that you can find in any mid-range phone today,
and one of my favorite phones that's actually using this particular processor is actually the
NOTHING Phone (1), and the performance there is just very snappy. In fact, if you like to play
games - so Mobile Legends and Genshin Impact also runs fairly smoothly on the POCO X5 Pro. Now
what else can we talk about the POCO X5 Pro? Well we do have a couple of sensors at the back. It is
a triple camera setup that is being led by a 108MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro
lens. Okay! So the photos coming out from the POCO X5 Pro is actually quite alright. I noticed
a couple of points here. First things first, I noticed that the saturation levels were
actually quite saturated it doesn't matter if you are taking photos during the day, or during
the night, it will always look very colorful, and I'm not sure if you like it but you know, some
people actually do like it. I put the photos side by side with the NOTHING Phone (1) and I noticed
again the colors were way more saturated than what I was seeing with my own eyes. The second point
that I can point out here is in terms of the white balance, the white balance on the POCO X5 Pro
is actually good! What I mean by that is that, let's say I'm taking a picture of a cloudy
scenario, I noticed that the greys, the blues, is actually more accurate on the POCO X5 Pro than
the NOTHING Phone (1) so good job there in terms of the white balance. Now the third thing that
I noticed here is that with the 108MP sensor, some phones, they use this kind of large numbers
just as a marketing gimmick, but in this case I put it side by side with the 50MP of the NOTHING
Phone (1) and obviously when I zoom in, I was able to see more details with the POCO X5 Pro so that
is actually a very good thing about the camera of the POCO X5 Pro. To sum up my experience with the
camera here, I would say that the experience has been rather pleasant. The only downside is that it
is a little bit too saturated, but other than that white balance is great, a lot of details, and you
can actually rely on it at night as well to take some beautiful shots. Alright! So what else do we
have here, if you flip the device to the front, this is where you will see that we have that
6.67" 1080P AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz. Again, the AMOLED panel on this device here
is sort of a mid-range kind of AMOLED panel, that means colors look alright. We have proper blacks,
but I wouldn't say that it's like flagship level, like super crystal clear with deep blacks and all
that, but it's a good AMOLED panel for the price that it's asking for. Other than that, like
I said, the refresh rate is 120Hz that means everything is going to be buttery smooth. Now one
thing that I did not really like about the POCO X5 Pro is actually that fingerprint scanner on the
right. I noticed that at certain times, it was not very responsive. I had to put my finger on it a
couple of times and the fact that I've registered this same finger twice on this phone and yet it
still misses is something that boggles my mind, so not too keen about that fingerprint scanner. It
would have been better if there was an in-display fingerprint scanner but this is what we get.
Another thing that I did not really like about the POCO X5 Pro is that although it launches
with MIUI 14 which sounds like a great thing, but the downside here is that it's still running
Android 12. Most phones today are already running Android 13 and I also noticed something and that
is there's a lot of bloatware pre-installed in the POCO X5 Pro so that's something that I did not
really like. As soon as I started off the phone, I saw MIUI 14, I was excited, then I checked -
Android 12. You know, my heart went down. And then I check out - a lot of bloatware, and ah! It's
just a little bit annoying here with the POCO X5 Pro. I hope and wish that they would do something
about this in their next device. Alright, so last but not least, in terms of battery life,
we do have a 5000mAh battery - pretty standard these days. And of course, they also have the 67W
Fast Charge which again is also pretty standard these days. Alright so my conclusion here of the
POCO X5 Pro - who is this device really for? Well, I would say that if you are in the market today
looking for a brand new mid-range smartphone, you should definitely check out the POCO X5 Pro.
With its Snapdragon 778G, it's way better than the POCO X4 Pro from before, and other than that,
if you are also looking for a mid-range phone, you should definitely check out the pricing
of this device first because if it follows the pricing of the X4 Pro from before,
the price is actually very close to the NOTHING Phone (1) which is actually a very,
very strong device as well. With that said, that pretty much sums up my quick review of the
POCO X5 Pro. If you have any further questions, feel free to leave a comment down below. Thank you
for watching today's video all the way to the end, and I look forward to seeing you in the
next one. Stay safe everybody, bye! [Music]
