hi everybody today I'm sharing with you uh final for now uh playing with embroidery stitches this is number six there's a playlist in my channel if you want to look at the past episodes today I'm covering and with this one you really can play with your embroidery stitches it's visible mending on all kinds of things um jeans clo CL in the past decades ago I was tasked to do some repairs of some holes in a soft cushion chair and for that one I chose to do little butterflies and bees and ladybugs and flowers and it it made the chair interesting and um then holes didn't show anymore when you get a pair of jeans or when I get a pair of jeans that fit I like to wear them forever and in this case this is one of my pair of jeans that got some holes so I'm using that as my example today now for bigger holes what I tend to do is I get scraps of things like Paisley I love Paisley fabrics and plaids and I'll stuff them put a piece behind the hole and then do different stitches around the edges but for today I'm um mostly going to show you what I did with some small holes that were on my jeans right here I buy um most of my clothes used and that is one of the reasons when I find a pair of jeans that are just fit me perfectly they're not easy to find used so um and in this case I these actually came with a repair in this section and and for years I just left it like that but I decided more recently to PR it up with some embroidery so here's just two examples you know there is no limits you you choose what you want to do but these were good stitches that I thought made interesting patterns not hard [Music] and you know fixed my holes just nicely um to start with a Hole uh when I'm doing a hole I like to cut a piece of scrap flannel or something like that and put it behind the hole to give me an extra base to work on and in this case I did two different things uh I had some old Pearl cotton the variegated it's pretty so I used two strands of it and I did a a weave which is basically straight stitches all one way and then weaving them in the other way to till your hole is completely patched over and then in this case and some of you who follow me might have remembered that recently at the thrift store I got a B uh a ball of couple of different Yarns that were interesting including this very fuzzy sort of ey lashy type of yarn and I thought it would be really fun and it will was but not as easy as you might think because because of the fuzz but I just did a chain stitch starting in the middle and I went around and around and around if you did that in um a different thread you could probably make this look more like a a rose or a flower or something like that but with this is just a fuzzy ball and then when you're done and as I said play play play you can do all kinds of things when you're done I also like with um pinking shears to trim off the extra backing um fabric that I used just so that um it doesn't get floppy and in the way and when you pink it it stops raveling as well so that's that's it for the the playing with embroidery stitches for now I might add some more down the road but starting um next Thursday I'm starting a new series it's applique hand applique and I'm going to cover all the many variations of um ways you can prepare your patches to applique so hope you join me for that that'll be every Thursday for the next while and if you do this visible mending have fun with it and show me pictures cuz I'd love to see yours thanks for watching
