Planting has begun in Northeast Missouri!

that clean out ditches in the bottom if it ever dries up quits right burning piles got one two three i'm going here today talk about rain again tonight so we don't want to get too carried away uh sorry about your waterway little ember blue a little bit further than we thought didn't hurt it too bad the grass would come back nice and green after that yeah it's hot staying here yeah it's day three of rain clouds cool nasty we haven't actually had a whole lot of rain so far this week about three quarters of an inch but rains a little bit every day just keeps it wet still working the shop i'm going to work on the 620 a little bit changed oil oil filters fuel filters we changed these very conveniently located hydra light filters three of them no left got some transmission floaters on the side they were kind of a pain too kind of getting this tractor ready to go change the oil the four-wheeler cleaning out the inside of this truck we've done the lawnmower this week finished up 345 put the 40 20 back together just been a few kind of odd and in things waiting for it to dry back up it's slightly windy today and guess what we're working on again oh yeah the 40 20. i'm just gonna move this old girl inside so that we can narrow up the front end go girls running a little rough this morning here on this farm by withers mill our guy justin is hard at work with the 300g trackhoe just burning brush piles got a lot of them to do now we got this side of the axle uh broke loose but i forgot to get some blocks so we're just going to use the old forklift here for safety reasons of course i had a little bit of difficulty getting this nut back on since i had to hit on this to get it back in so moral the story here is when in doubt cut your own threads now getting that nut and bolt back in didn't exactly go as i planned but i also got the tie rod out and uh now i know how loose the steering was yeah it was a little wore out moving the skid steer here and notice that there's a screw right here nice so we're gonna get that out so it doesn't end up in something with air in it [Music] skid steers are fun until you back one off of a trailer and you get to this point right here where you tip and you start to feel a little shaky [Music] case in point now i got this side broken loose so we're doing good the ominous four foot long piece of pipe may have had something to do with how easy i got this off seed man is here there's a very slight small chance that i can plant beans on monday so i asked suitors to bring us a pro box of beans so that i can make that happen so thanks cooper seed is secured thank you to cedar seed services right there so we got three one pioneer beans that are treated and they're 45 units 140 000 seeds per unit i ended up having to cut some more threads which is code for a grind some of the threads off the end of the bolt because i boogered the threads up putting the bolt back in and now the front end is on true 30 inch rows but the back end is actually going to be on 34s simply because there's not enough room on the one side for the radio and everything to clear so it 34 inch rows close enough no one's gonna care and dad also commented on my planting plan and he said to wait until monday i had there was a slight bit of hope that i was gonna get out and do it on sunday afternoon but not gonna happen also this tie rod actually okay to thunk it i just got the computrak 150 monitor off of my 4020 here since it is no longer going to be pulling the plan for tomorrow or on monday all i had to do was undo my fancy schmancy uh custom quick detach mounting system now the word around town is that on monday morning first thing in the morning braillers from town is going to be out here with their truck and they're going to put the new rims on the 40 20. i really hope that this happens because that's one less thing i'd have to worry about unfortunately that's one more thing i have to ride a check for yeah these high sea outdoors uh steel toe work boots right here yep they're pretty cool and if you're wanting a pair of work boots i'd suggest giving those a look now we've got the 850 c loaded up getting ready to head out over burning the brush piles to use this to help smooth everything up dress up a little bit so we can get it planted i think this might actually be the first time i've used this trailer to haul something for ourselves had a couple buddies that we've hauled some stuff for her and they've used a couple times but we brought the dozer back home when one of them used it for a time or two but otherwise i think this might be the first time i've actually hauled something for us on this trailer okay i'm here at grandpa's house in my shed here where i keep a bunch of little things for my stuff and we need to grab the black kinsey plates from my bean planter and we're going to go over and put these in the meters and we're going to give the planter a test fire and make sure everything works and do a couple seed counts and we should be ready to go for tomorrow that's taken one of our cascadias into town for an alignment and whatnot and i'm gonna go pick them up here in the red truck since my sister is in indiana or at least went in indiana today to pick up a new acquisition for goldinger farms get ready to listen to this the voice of an angel [Music] i believe the guy can speak to people sometimes he speaks to me in the form of a 24 valve cummins making a really cool sound you guys think i could special order one of these from peterbilt except single cab not a long long hood and not a 569 inch wheelbase be nice one of our terraces out here on 168 isn't exactly working very well we're not super big fans of it but i'm sure the ducks are i'm spending my spring break here on a waterfront now we got some water flow i think we got it what do you say i'm glad to see that on the t-post there that marks the riser uh you can see where the water level has gone down and now there's a little swirly thing coming up so we definitely did something now we're here at withers mill getting ready rid of some excess trees and dad and i brought grandpa a tank of diesel and he is stacking up a brush pile that had already burnt previously and we're just trying to get everything burnt down as much as we can [Music] so getting everything done this evening took a little bit longer than i had anticipated so now we're just just now getting home and 7 30 fire it up and hook it up to the planter drag the planter over the shop put the plates on i don't know if i'm going to get to do a population check tonight but i can do that tomorrow morning come on you've never let me down so don't start now that is discouraging well i tell you what this is kind of disappointing of all the tractors to not start i typically would not think that this would be one of them follow five minutes on each 12-volt battery on the charger and it magically fires up like nothing was ever wrong not sure what the deal is there we got the planter and i'll get it ready here it won't actually take that long it'll take me longer to uh run the meters and get an accurate stand count or at least a population count so the 730 here has a cigarette lighter like a 12 volt kind of deal and that's what i run the monitor with monitor's just a simple computrac 150 and i have a little tail that plugs into the cigarette lighter and then adapts it over to the wires or whatever and i tried plugging it in here on the 730 wasn't working well i pulled this panel off and tried to get to the bottom of that and here's what i found usually stuff works when it actually has leads going to it and power what i have conjured up here is either going to work beautifully or will electrocute me we're gonna find out which one it is maybe it's neither one i guess it's neither okay so my franken wiring has actually gotten me somewhere now all six of the rows are on i ended up working a little while longer got my all my messes cleaned up here under the 4020 and from wiring that absolute abomination up and tomorrow fingers double ultra super mega cross that's going to have new rims and no longer have fluid in the back tires and i'm going to be able to get a new tie rod because as you recall the one side is it's pretty worn out so hopefully side sugar has one in stock and if they don't i'm gonna go to the salvage yard and see if i can find one that's good enough i'm also gonna go to the salvage yard and see if i can get the updated fuel filter body because i want that to be the new style because it's easier and you know only need one filter instead of two and i'm going to plant tomorrow there's no if hands or butts about it i gotta do it i've hyped myself up for it so that means i have to do it i'll grab my water and these two shirts that i left out here and we're gonna go inside gn streaks going to the bank favorite part about the bank suckers second stop of the day is out here on 168 again same spot as yesterday i just had to come and make sure that this terrace had actually drained out and it has it's just going to take a little while for all the excess soil moisture to not be here anymore because it is excess i'm also keeping close eye out for more squirrel food all right the tractor's running outside i got a thing of seed here we're gonna fill it up and uh park it for a little while because i have to go get justin a dirt spade and a shovel because the tracks on the trackhoe are a little full right now and a little while ago like five minutes ago i did the uh seed check or whatever that the meter check how much seed the meters were putting out all three of them that i checked were 150 000 and that's about where i want to be so i'm pretty happy so far okay we are full on seed and i put some graphite in here so we're just gonna mix that up level this stuff off and we'll be ready to go we made it to the field i can't believe i'm actually going to do this flip all the clutches on our meters in and we are going to go and just see what happens six doesn't feel like a lot of roads until it's behind you on the highway and then it feels like it's a lot bigger you also need to uh let my markers here down so that uh i know where to drive because no autosteer on the old 730 here this is the aftermath of the down corn i had so dad what do you have to say about this march operation good thing it's only six acres well another view of the 28th of march flying experiment it's a little wet there right there along with it used to be hey got the wrong marker down try it again there we go and he's off that night struck the depths on the first little bit that i done and it's a little too deep so i shallowed it up uh one hole and we're gonna see what that gets us drive a little bit further let's do a quick uh is the planter planting check yes it is sweet this is a pretty uh foolproof trick to see if your planter is actually cleansing or not see if it's planting it'll have less seed in it than when you started and number six yep we're planting it's going pretty smooth so far and it's a little tacky in some places like right along the edge of the old railroad bed but it's not bad i planted it worse i've also planted it a lot better well an ammonia bar just went by i must be getting everyone kind of antsy well folks just like that it's over plant for 2022 has officially begun and started right here by the highway where everyone can see if it's good or bad so i'm not sure if that's gonna work to my favor or work against me yet i'm gonna flip all the clutches out and then i am going to pin the whole thing up and we're going to go home because i have some other things to do today there goes the planter man let's see is it all padded oh my gosh it took you an hour and a half or so but yep you got it brailers is here they're getting the fluid sucked out of the tires and they're going to put the new rims on and then remount the tires i'm going to go check out the burning action over here at withersville and i brought my assistant with me today also the city of hannibal apparently needs to dispose of like liquid lime so they sent a drag line crew to our farm so they could pump the free liquid lime is what i'm being told i don't know but they brought a dog and i don't want there to be any scuffles between my puppy and their puppy so chooses me today neighbors are out today slaying some cow poo with a 4440. but you can feel the heat from a fire behind a piece of glass you know it's burning pretty warm example two i think grandpa actually is i think has a survey level out and he's gonna look at some terrorist stuff we're just flagging out the terraces here you can see there's been some uh erosion occurring water's just coming down the hill instead of going into the waterway well now we've got two terraces set up grandpa and i did what we could do here with uh marking out where the grade was and uh it's actually like the opposite of what we thought it was going to be it starts high out here by this waterway and it gets drops like two feet going that way this is not what we had anticipated or wanted but it is what it is the way to solve that is with a tractor and a scraper and lots of double checking oh really okay who's a good girl wolf justin's over here stacking the piles back up so they burn better a lot of stuff going on today may is extremely extremely happy though the 40 20 has uh one old rim and one new room you know what other than the valve stem part this doesn't look that bad maybe i can con someone into facebook for buying into buying this well here's this liquid lime application rig these drag liner guys could leave that semi here and i wouldn't mind well the sun's starting to kind of go away today and i've succeeded in planting six acres of beans paying three landlords and spending time with my dog and kind of learning how to build a terrace so i think that's pretty good day sheesh pioneer guys been treating us right so it's the end of the weekend and you guys know what happens at the end of the weekend also like the video comment if you have a question a pretty open book
