It looks like more effort than it would be worth. It’s pretty easy to just pop the cloves in soil in fall and get good results. Then theres no lost counter space, no fussing with bottles, no topping off evaporated water every few days, no kids or cats knocking them over, less risk of root rot.

But if it looks like fun, go for it, it will probably work fine. I’d put some in the ground at the same time to see if there’s a difference in the results at harvest time.

I think I saw this video here in reddit somewhere but I can't find it anymore.

I love garlic and thought I'd give it a try. I read some of the comments on youtube and lots of people say it's not very good.

Edit: I live in zone 10a.

Does anybody with some experience growing garlic have any thoughts on this method?

You might want to ask over in r/hydroponics they have a lot of experience growing stuff like this
