Pixar's Luca Everything You Missed

all right gents and jealous it's time to go on a summer vacation and explore everything you missed in pixar's movie luca ciao welcome back oh what's wrong with you stupido just kidding relax if you found that offensive you clearly didn't watch the video you need to go watch the video first now let's get right into it it seems like with all the seagulls flying around pixar missed a perfect opportunity to have one of them say mine well actually we are in italy so excuse me but if you listen really closely you're gonna hear they are saying mio which is italian for we're just getting started the little town of puerto rosso has a movie theater and you can see the neon sign right there that would normally be lit up and say cinema that explains why there are so many posters on this particular building the first poster we're going to be looking at is vacanza romana or in english it's roman holiday and in case you never saw it to give you a little backstory here scooters were first invented in italy after cordino descano was inspired when he saw the small motorized scooters being used in world war ii for the soldiers to get around the military bases and he modified that basic concept to make a scooter they immediately became a big hit in italy but it wasn't until after the movie roman holiday and the romantic ride around the coliseum that made the scooter famous in america so this particular movie here actually helped the scooter become world famous and not just italy famous also roman holiday came out in 1953. next we have a poster of the movie la strada which also came out in 1954 and is famous film in italy directed by federico fellini and if you couldn't tell by his name he's italian but the main character in la strada but the main character in la strada is gal zamonia that word and watch the first fishing boat that alberto flew over and we will see its name jazmonenia another movie is a taco del mastro or attack of the sea monster and this one seems to be a made up movie clearly referencing the uncle ugo the next poster we see on the wall is disney's classic 20 000 leagues under the sea and in case you didn't see that movie let me sum it up for you here it's about a sea monster with green eyeballs that sink ships and they walk around on the sea floor and diving gear that looks a lot like well that and no this is not the same helmet from the fish tank and finding nemo nice try but twenty thousand leagues on the sea was also released in 1954 sounds like we're kind of establishing a timeline of when this movie took place and the monster that sunk the wooden ships just happens to be attacked by a giant octopus you mean in the monster ain't your mate i might be the monster speaking of octopus you remember hank the famous seven legged octopus from finding dory well he makes his appearance into this movie as well on the wall right here and we know it's him because octopus usually have eight legs only hank has seven another pixar fish movie is finding nemo now don't sue me for this one because i realize that the color will be a little bit off and the size is clearly way off but i think that this treasure chest over here is the same treasure chest that was in the dentist office in finding nemo only shrunk down to size to recycle props for the movie now there's a fine line between recycling old work and giving an easter egg to prior work in memory of past words i think this one is more saving time when we get to julia marcovaldo's bedroom we find some easter eggs like donald duck who is a bit of a celebrity in italy maybe more so than mickey mouse i know also we find an easter egg to disney's pinocchio and lucas fantasy and pinocchio is also hiding in julia's bedroom on her shelf which makes perfect since they would have an easter egg in this movie since disney made their story of pinocchio based on the book pinocchio which was written by carlo collido who is italian and also the main star becomes a real boy this boy is a real boy too i'm a real boy nicolo patera or nick patera is a pixar animator and the kites that they're flying are made from leonardo da vinci which you may know him from his famous art like the last supper or la mona lisa but he also made military weapons as well cut open dead bodies and made several flying designs none of which actually worked though so the only way that this model is going to be flying is in somebody's dreams but it's italian so they put it in the movie with all the movie references they seem to have a lot of references to the vintage cartoons if you watch when alberto falls off the cliff he fell like the famous wily coyote with a little pause midair before finally falling to his just kidding he didn't die just falling and when luca bunked his head he sees stars like boggle and lakehorn only since at this point in his life luca thinks stars are actually sardines that's why he has swimming fishes if you listen to luca when he's rounding up all the goat fish at the beginning of the movie lucas talking to gazepe about the one fish that ran away you want to run off like your buddy enrico because i've got news for you he's either dead or he's out there somewhere seeing the world but he's probably dead well if you watched all the credits then you will see what happened to his little buddy enrico at the very end the one fish that got away well apparently uncle hugo is entertaining that fish deep deep in the ocean and perhaps just like luca it felt like it was forced to run away and not stay in a pin its entire life we find all sorts of details to the movie and the credits like for example if you're like me and you think the whole how they're dry turns them into humans but then getting wet turns them back into sea monsters like what's the rules of that like when julia throws water on luca and he turns into a fish but there's also a glass of wine on the table what if she threw the wine instead of the water would he still turn into a fish does any moisture turn them into a monster or is it only water well in the credits they answer this question for us because we see a dog licking luca's face and he's turning into scaly fishy things so this is clearly answering our question and any moisture will turn them back into sea creatures we also see a drawing in the credits showing luca and julia watching the moon landing on tv and this took place 10 years later in 1969 even though the drawing shows them at about the same age as they were in the movie which was in the mid-1950s oops is that a mistake okay so here's another mistake we also see massimo in the dive suit hanging in the bottom of the ocean but what's this massimo's holding a crab with his right hand in case you're missing this he doesn't have a right hand okay i'm gonna sink all the rest of the mistakes for now if you look in the credits you're also gonna see donald duck once again this time in a drawing form another thing we find in the credits is luca reaching for the stars but who's drawing it that would be the boy from pixar short la luna and also enrico casarosa who directed luca also directed la luna this is a telescope oh ben bernardi lets me use it chris bernardi is the set supervisor one thing not from la luna though is the star cluster that we see in the telescope and if you look closely it says a113 i'm kidding relax what's the matter with you okay but seriously the star cluster is known as the pleiades and there's another sea monster that disney talks about that was referenced in this film you're a monster well not so much a monster but it's a sea creature if you look in the movie none of the sea monsters know how to use a fork like he even stores his forks and knives inside a toaster literally the one thing you're not supposed to put in a toaster you get the connection yet what if i said ariel from little mermaids but what is it it's a dinglehopper what the fork what are all those tiny lights i always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away really you know anchovies they go there to sleep then what about the cat in case you missed it the cat's name is mashabeli as in niccolo mischavelli the famous italian politician the turtle's name is kalugula who is a roman emperor does everyone walk around with noodle strainers on their head what is going on pixar pixar and disney like to hide shapes in the clouds and they even gave us an entire scene and up where you can see hidden images in the clouds and in the credits in this movie we once again see them making images with the clouds so what about this if we watch in lucas dream we see a set of clouds that look a lot like they're in the shape of a hidden mickey you agree good i agree then next we have a boot that saved the world that's right we're talking about wall-e the boot from wally's right there we are led to believe that luke and alberto went to the vespa town to find senor vespa but in reality luca wanted to go to the human town potentially saved alberto's life not just by getting him outside of his isolation loneliness you got me off the island luca i'm okay loser no that's not what i'm talking about but if you don't speak italian we need to translate the sign here that the police officer is holding in english it translates to monster spotted at the island so seeing how much they hated and feared sea monsters at this point in time and how eager they were to try to hunt and kill one down they probably would have soon had a hunting party and gone to the island and found alberto and if it happened on a day that the sky was leaking that would be it for our shady little friend if you look at the card that alberto stole from that ship on the very back of it you see a city with another city mirrored below it this resembles the world that they're in there's a world above the water and a world below the water for this next part let's jump back to home alone remember how they used the old man's cut to show how him and kevin's relationship was it started rough and bloody and raw but then the more they got to know each other the better the wound healed over time then by the end of the movie they were best friends and the wound was completely healed well luca and alberta have a similar situation going on here not that alberto sliced his hand or anything but a side note is that he does have a scar on his arm from the harpoon that they threw at him in the beginning of the movie back to our point let's go if you watch the drawing of the vespa it starts off with a blank sheet and they slowly start creating and learning more about vespas and as they do their drawings improve on how to build a vespa so clearly it reflects their relationship from being brand new not knowing each other or anything about the vespas to slowly getting closer and closer in their relationship and with more detail now known about the vespa and their relationship they start to get stronger but then their dreams and aspirations start to drift apart to different goals then the drawing starts to strain till finally the relationship literally rips apart then after lucas sets off to mend the relationship improves his loyalty to alberto once again finally we get to the ending and the relationship has been mended along with the drawing we also have a reference to jerry from jerry's game you probably remember at one point he was getting beat so bad by himself that he pretended to have a heart attack to scare himself while his self was distracted he rotated the table switching teams without himself ever noticing well in the downhill part of the race we see two people playing chess and one of them using jerry's strategy but what about pixar itself don't worry they reference themselves too near the end of the movie we see julia getting on a train and that train number is 1200 pa most of you can probably finish the connection to this easter egg that's 1200 park avenue which is where you can find the pixar headquarters then look at the train engine 94608 is the zip code for emeryville california case you didn't know that's where their headquarters is located then if you look at the train ticket you will see it's the famous a113 if you don't know what a113 is you need to binge watch some of my videos because the rest of us got to keep going at the end of the race in the giant fight scene we see the evil leader aircraft asks his minions for another weapon another pool the ideology be useful for once in your pathetic lives this is exactly what happened in gladiator when maximus fought commodus communist lost his sword and demanded another weapon from one of his minions but they refused and the leader was defeated it's over the reign of terror it's finally over the kids also playing soccer in plaza calvino even though there's clearly a sign posted no soccer allowed then maybe some of these ideas were pirated from pirates like how luca and alberto snuck onto the shore by hiding under a boat just like how will turner and jack sparrow commandeer the dauntless this is either madness or brains it's remarkable how often those two traits come inside also while we're here if we're asking where did luca get the bicycle for the race since julia only had one bicycle and she was using it for the race when they're hiding behind the sunken boat you can see an abandoned bicycle and that's what he's going to be using later on in the race mother of pearl that's right more parrots but this one isn't referencing to the black pearl it's with mr krabs from spongebob okay also something that is being referenced the spongebob six and a half hours later after it's revealed that alberto and luca are sea monsters we also see that these two old ladies over here are also revealing themselves as sea monsters if you look closely though the first time we ever see them it's a clear blue sky with toy story clouds off in the distance but clearly no sign of rain at all that day yet these ladies are taking no chances because they are carrying an umbrella because their life depends on not getting caught in the rain this movie paid respect to italy in every way possible that they could even going to location of fine inspiration for designing the town this also is why we see so many times the colors are red white and green as the colors of their flag are red white and green like in lucas dream we have all those scooters red white and green and the water balloons are red white and green another italian knot is the guy in the rear view mirror who is he he's alberto's father relax that was a joke no this guy is marcelo mastrani and he's a famous italian actor now let's go look at her cope wisconsin for a second he shares the last name with the director lucini visconti if you notice he really likes eating sandwiches so is that just a coincidence come on this is pixar we're talking about probably not who wants to watch me eat a big sandwich he's eating a bologna sandwich all the time because he's full of bologna and get this bologna was also originated in you guessed it italy from a town named bologna and that's not just a bunch of baloney i promise it's also easy to see why he won a race six years in a row the bicycle part of the race alone is enough to give him a super competitive advantage over everybody that no human can possibly compete against what's that if you watch all the kids have a one speed bicycle except for airco he has an expensive road bike that can go much faster with the same amount of energy he also has the nicest scooter in town so where does he get all of his money from well when his goons are taking him out to sea we see him in a boat that is named focusia meaning flatbread well at least that's what google translate thinks it means and we see the local pizza shop in town has that on its menu so it's likely that his dad owns the pizza shop speaking of pizza if you follow me on instagram you already know where the pizza planet truck was and if you were looking for an actual truck you probably never found it pixar's changed the delivery truck and how it looks in several movies like incredibles 2 and since the movie is inspired by italy they italicized it italicized when they're on the downhill part of the triathlon if you don't blink and you watch in slow motion for a brief second you will see the scooterized pizza planet truck speaking of food it's a good idea to carve up before a race but maybe the night before not like three minutes before the race starts time to carbon load but this race requires you to eat pasta halfway through the race no wonder julia carved up then threw up [Music] and another up in this movie is the movie up remember how ellie gave carl the grape soda badge well if you look at this poster on the side of the building you will see the sodas that they offer including grape soda then what about the pixar ball did you see it well just like the pizza planet truck would get it in the third leg of the race when they get the drone shot over the entire city and you can see the rooftops if you pause it at just the right moment you can see the pixar ball then lastly what did that weird handshake mean seriously what does that mean no idea go find out from me will ya don't worry i'm not gonna make you go to school and find out like luca did enrico casarosso explained it on his twitter account and there he said it's a silly kids thing from when i grew up it's at its base a pun with a handshake that goes with it it's italian roughly for nice to meet you my name is twisty trombone and as you say your name you mimic the name in the handshake movement i guess it's one of those jokes you had to be there to get it if there was an easter egg i missed that you
