Picking a Kwikset Gen3 with a modified smart key😉

[Music] thanks for joining me Rook Knight here and we're going to try uh picking this uh quick set gen 3 that I have in the vice uh nice little Smart Lock that they have and I thought we could try beating it with something like this and a pick and I'll show you how in a minute first I wanted to show this in working order we have a working key we're going to put it to the side take the smart key push that in this comes out put in the new bidding of the key and now we have a new bidding and as you can see the old one no longer works so this is going to be the bidding of the key what we're going to do with this is we're going to take on a hard surface and we're going to hammer this little Bend out of the uh smart key here that they send you and you're going to make that flat as well as then you're going to draw a line with the same thickness as this here follow it back and then down and then cut this part out I'll put a picture here to make it a little more easier to what I'm see what I'm talking about and this would be your finished product all you would have to do is just put a little bit of a Bend here curve at the tip of the uh of it here hopefully you can tell on the camera it's not too blurry and that's about it and then you're going to insert this into the side of your lock trying to find the sidebar I'll show a picture exactly what I'm trying to do a little more detailed and once you find your sidebar a good way to tell if you did is to try picking on the first pin if the first pin is getting tension then you know you're on the right one if you're getting too much tension you can back off on the sidebar in order to get it open um or rather to get the first pin and you just want to keep wiggling a little bit and then go a little bit deeper and keep trying to think I dropped the first one keep trying to set those pins and then as you're getting them pins to set your your uh shim should slide more in more easier rather so we're going to go for the next ones and hopefully now even the last one we put the shim in just a little bit more we'll get enough tension maybe a little bit out okay let me just double check here see what they feel like all right we feel good so we're going to take a top of the keyway tension wrench put it inside of our quick set and give it a turn and then by keeping pressure on there we're going to remove the little homemade shim and we have an open and just to confirm that I didn't mess with this or anything like that I we will try uh opening this up a little bit and gutting it just to prove that we're on the level um if you trust me you can tune out now now but if you don't keep watching uh in any case get the top here off come on okay and then we're going to pull this out we're going to have a ball bearing that falls out of the side so keep an eye out for that one this one seems to be stuck in there I don't know if it's just mine but in any case you can pull out the rest of this here and as you can see how the sidebar is pushed in instead of pushing out so it's pushing in this way instead of out this way so the fact that it's pushing in with those two black bars or uh rubber bands or whatever they are um but that's pretty much uh consistent with the Gen 3 and then what we'll do is remove this little cover here try to do it gently and as you can see we have all of our little Wafers all five of our Wafers as well as you can see the pins and the uh Springs are still intact I'm not going to go any further cuz it's not a masochist um but you can definitely see there that everything is uh working order and is 100% so if you're still with me I really appreciate you watching thanks for uh sticking around and we'll catch you all on the flip side thanks guys
