Phonak Paradise Review

[Music] hey guys jeff here at zip hearing with a quick review of the brand new phonak audeo paradise this just came out and we got the sneak peek so if you want to make sure that you're always up to speed on new releases hit the subscribe button okay so a little bit of context at the end of 2018 phonak released the marvel hearing aid i'll put a video there this was our best-selling hearing aid ever phonak's as well mostly because it was the first hearing aid that could directly connect via bluetooth to all phones android iphone doesn't matter and this new hearing aid paradise just builds on all that success there's a lot of small improvements with paradise i'm not going to get into all of them just the highlights the fact is phonak didn't have to release anything crazy with the paradise they could have coasted by selling marvel for a few more years and done just fine so in my opinion nothing major with this release but a few incremental improvements that i can already tell are definitely going to increase customer satisfaction now my favorite thing about paradise and something that phonak actually isn't hyping a lot is the bluetooth connectivity it's perfect the other night i was playing around with this hearing aid in the kitchen and i said out loud finally my wife goes what are you talking about and i said finally there's a good bluetooth hearing aid and if you take away nothing else from this video remember this while a lot of hearing aids on the market do have bluetooth connectivity none of them do it as well as paradise does never in my life have i had hearing aids consistently pair to my phone my ipad with zero issues i test hearing aids all the time and i'm constantly struggling with this so are our customers i have to turn off the bluetooth uninstall the app shut down the hearing aid open and close the battery door finally none of that nonsense this bluetooth just works every single time that i connected the aids to my phone perfect instant connection right away and i never lost connection switched away from my hearing aids to my airpods seamlessly no issue now speaking of air pods here's something else i like about paradise that actually is is getting zero press the other night i was setting up these hearing aids i put them in my ears started a song on youtube on my phone and then kind of did other things for like 10 or 15 seconds while the song was loading and just kind of forgot that i was wearing the hearing aids the music started playing and it wasn't until like a minute in that i thought to myself do i have my airpods in or the hearing aids i mean they sounded that good and if you've seen my other videos you know that i tend to downplay streaming sound quality from all hearing aids but i've never listened to hearing aids with a music streaming sound quality that was this good usually it's super tinny there's no bass part of the reason i really liked the quality probably has to do with the type of dome that i was using it's this one it's called a vented dome so if music's important to you ask your hearing provider if this kind of dome will work for you all right while we're still talking about bluetooth i want to show you a few new things about the my phonak app that has to do with the remote control aspects that are pretty cool so let me show you here you go into remote control hit this little icon you can control the bass mids treble volume noise reduction so you can turn down like ambient background noise and then speech focus only available on the premium model which lets you control the microphone directionality to help you hear noise in front of you and reduce the background noise nice features to have on an app and not all manufacturers offer it alright let me get into the different models available right now when this first comes out you can get paradise with a 312 battery a 13 battery and a telecoil rechargeable or rechargeable with the telecoil the model that i have here is the rechargeable model this is what i think most people will buy it looks almost identical to the marvel the only difference is that i can see is the casing is a little more rounded it's a slightly smaller device and these microphones up here are angled no clue why but nice design and nice that it got smaller okay next thing that i want to talk about just briefly actually back up before i stop talking about bluetooth stuff um one of the big complaints with the marvel hearing aid that came before this was you could only pair it to one device at a time like one phone and if you wanted to switch it to another device you had to go in and completely forget the pairing and reconnect the to the new device which is a total pain but with the paradise you can have up to eight pairings and two active connections that means for example you can have your paradise hearing aids paired with your phone and your air pods and then switch seamlessly between the two like you can just take out your air pods and put the hearing aids in and the streaming transfers to the hearing aids no fuss if it feels like i'm talking a lot about bluetooth it's because i'm so relieved that paradise exists because like a lot of hearing providers i am really tired of hearing about bluetooth issues and if phonak has nailed this like i think they have then i think a lot of other manufacturers will follow suit soon and bluetooth issues may be a thing of the past in a couple years and that is such a relief all right that's enough about that stuff couple other cool new features with paradise motion sensors so you're walking along the microphones on the hearing aids can automatically shift their focus to help you improve localization like if you're walking and there's someone to the side of you the hearing aid knows it and they change their microphones and noise cancellation to help you hear better and then when you stop they change again this is all automatic nice to see phonak embrace motion sensors it is a newer trend in hearing aids already adopted by a couple other manufacturers it just makes sense and i think this is a feature that's here to stay oh and one of the cool things that motion sensors allows for is air tap control so you can go like this tap tap and you you can answer a call that way or pause or play your music activate virtual assistants like siri so you could for example go tap tap and say like call bob and then you can talk hands-free right through the hearing aids so we've talked about models bluetooth a little bit about the app ah the operating system paradise has a new operating system called autosense 4.0 the operating system is like the brain of the hearing aid what's new about this operating system is there's a new chip called prism which phonak says has twice the memory and processing power of the previous chip which means better overall sound quality i think that's probably why streaming audio sounds so much better to me i couldn't find any other reason in the literature but sound quality in all environments should be improved as well and then there's a new fitting formula for paradise hearing aids that means essentially when you're getting your hearing aids programmed by your provider phonak has a new rationale or sort of algorithm that controls the fitting a new fitting rationale is always exciting because they don't make these things up it's based on a lot of data which means more people will like these and they'll sound more natural okay i think that covers it for now please though if you try this hearing aid that marvel did when it came out but like i said phonak didn't have to do anything crazy here or make any outlandish claims they already had a winning hearing aid in marvel and this just makes it better paradise is small improvements but these aren't like gimmicky improvements these are improvements that are definitely going to make a difference in people's lives and this release in my opinion just further cements phonak as the industry leader right now they've been killing it for years with marvel and it looks like that success is just going to carry into paradise so please leave a comment
