Philips Hue Alternative: GOVEE Neon Rope Lights

let's add some color to your stream with the new govi neon rope lights [Music] welcome back to another video and for those that are new here i'm bam bananaman and i create videos to help content creators and streamers reach their goals and today i just got the new govi neon rope lights in the mail and i picked these rope lights up because they are very similar to nanoleaf and philips hue at a much more affordable cost and they have many different options so if you don't like these go ahead and check govi out i picked them up on amazon for 64. they're 10 feet long and they have 252 individual lights within that 10 feet they are flexible so you can bend it in any shape or direction that you want to put on your wall they have a music mode so the lights react to the different music that you may be playing and they have custom modes where you can change the color within the lights as well here's the box nothing too special you see that govi's on the side making life smarter the different modes that the lights have and on the back it has some specs about them and now let's get this let's get this thing opened you'll see that you have a user manual the govi lights themselves the remote that has the power button the different modes and the music mode button at the bottom we'll move this white tab out of the way and you'll see that you have a power adapter the screws to mount onto the wall and the brackets to shape in the shape that you'd like and a like and share card with the govi app qr code on the back cool and finally some alcohol prep pads to wipe down the service that you're going to be putting it on so not too much to it and now let's go ahead and get started by setting this thing up to set up you're going to take off the sticky from the bracket push it against the wall for 30 seconds and here you could put the screws into the bracket as well but i'm going to leave it just as a sticky for now then you're going to put the govi light into the bracket and for the rest of them i'm going to do it off camera to save some time now that we have it all set up let's dive into the govi home app which is where you connect your phone to your lights once you have the app downloaded and you're logged in go ahead and press the plus button search for neon click it click the one that pops up it's going to fail just go ahead and re-click it and it should work the second time push the power button on the remote wait for it to pair change the name to whatever you'd like to change it to for me i'm going to change it to neon sign into your wi-fi wait for it to connect and once it's connected you'll see this pop up and now you can turn on your lights turn them off turn them on and you'll see that there's the effects lab a timer you can change the brightness and then all the modes but first let's go ahead and click into the effects lab and you can change the color so let's say red it's cool color yellow blue which is pretty cool now let's go back and let's go into the music mode here so when we're playing the music mode it reacts to different sounds so if you're talking really loud it'll switch now let's hit color go down to this gradient spot turn that on and select different segments of the lights and you can change the colors of just those segments so let's pick yellow and now it's blue and yellow pretty cool so let's go ahead and scroll up we're going to hit this diy button hit the plus button hit it again and from here you can create your own custom mode and we're going to start off by selecting jumping scroll down and change the color to pink we'll do green and yellow and so if we hit apply it's going to jump between different colors and you can speed it up and now it should jump pretty quickly now let's do one more so we'll go ahead and click into that spot again and we're going to hit crossing and now if we hit apply it's going to cross the different colors for that mode pretty neat right i think these lights are very cool and worth the 64. and let me know in the comments below are you going to get these govi rope lights or a different gobi product or something completely different like the philips hue or the nanoleaf and for my next video i'm going to be showing you how to use these lights in your stream alerts so if you want to see that make sure to uh hit that subscribe button and if you like this video do the little tippity tap of the the like button and bam see you next time
