one conclusion you are the best [Music] hallelujah [Music] my so you good morning church my name is jordan reed and i'm here to talk about my personal testimony and how god has impacted my life in recent times to start off with i'd like to say that since last year we've all faced difficult times and i'm no exception to the fact ever since god kovitz started i felt that things would inevitably get better that the world would be able to move past this but as the pandemic cannot don't own stretch for weeks to months to over a year before things look like they will go back to some form of normalcy i began to fear feel distressed and sad during this time so through encouragement from people around me and family members when i was motivating myself i went to god and i just laid my heart to him and just praying that this situation would get better and even though i was questioning being still i still felt that things would go back to normal i felt even though i felt this way my mother has been there for me and helped me to talk to god about how i felt uh though things were still difficult i was able to find peace in just knowing that he has been there for me just going to him help me face this crisis in a healthier way and that couple with support from friends and loved ones that god has brought in my life had helped coping with this pandemic to be much easier in closing i just want to say that although life gets difficult for us all at times leaning on god can help you find a sense of peace that can help dealing with this situation to be much easier thank you for listening to my personal testimony bless you amen thank you jordan reid and right now we'll have the youth prayer by jordan carruthers after which a selection by sister stacian patterson good morning good will be taken from luke chapter 6 to 9 please stand and it reads then he told this parable a man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any so he said to the man who took care of the vineyard for three years now i've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree but haven't found any cut it down why should it use up the soil sir the man replied leave it alone for one more year and dig it up and i'll dig it up and fertile it nine and last if it bears fruit next year fine if not then cut it down this is the word of the lord you may be seated thank you and right now we'll have a selection another one by our own sister nicholeen spencer good morning church amen the whole world did not bow when water turned to wine and not everyone would worship him when he gave sight to the blind out of all the miracles performed how could anyone deny but no one says he's king of king when the crowd cried crucified but one day every niche shall bow in honor to the king and every tongue confess he is the lord of everything so the choice is yours to make do we think i'll do it now cause one day every knee shall [Music] there are those who don't believe and some will still deny that jesus is the son of god and his word is all alive oh but when prophecy has been fulfilled and the final trumpet sound there's one thing you can count on every knee will hit the ground cause one day every knee shall bow in honor to the king and every tongue confessed he is the lord of everything so the choice is yours to make do within or do it now cause one day every knee shall bow every knee about every knee cause one day every knee shall bow in honor to the king and every time confess he is the lord of everything so the choice is yours to make do we then or do we now cause one day every every name every knee every knee shall be amen [Applause] amen thank you sister spencer and as now we are going to worship in the word i'll ask deacon robinson to tell us what the lord has laid on his heart please welcome him good morning church indeed it's a good morning it's a good morning to be in the house of the lord i want to say a special thanks to all the young people who have led us thus far you know including yeah all the people who have led us thus far on this year or youth sunday isn't it wonderful to to be able to sit and and and watch the young people as they lead us in a time of worship because there are some older folks who find it very challenging to come before people and do this let us celebrate them amen well done well done we encourage them truly we want to say a special thanks to the lord as well because he has allowed us this privilege to see today a day that we have never seen before and we will never see again we want to make the best of today amen we want to be the best of today we want to say a special welcome to those who are online those who are at whom those who are worshiping with us far and near we are grateful for your presence with us because you could have been [Music] other places so we believe that god has something in store for you today right no it's not that we have something in store though god has something in store for us today today we start a new series which is going to be for a couple of weeks it might be about two months that will be well not quite two months but a couple of weeks that we'll be looking at a theme uh starting this morning fruit that is never out of season fruit that is never out of season what a wonderful fruit that must be through that never that is never old of season let us pray father i want to give you thanks lord god we thank you for this privilege that we have that we can come before you lord god you invite us to come as servants you invite us to come as children to to seek you to ask of you to knock on your door because you promise to open lord god you promise to listen when we ask when we cry you promise to help us when we cast all our concerns our or our anxieties our troubles on you lord god you promise to help lord you promise to give us wisdom if we act right now we need wisdom lord god and we ask for your wisdom we ask that you'll speak to us through your words today lord god and by your spirit who is our teacher we trust him to to guide us to teach us your word lord god prick our hearts and cause us to hear you hear you clearly and to respond appropriately that we might be edified and you and you alone will be glorified we give you a thanks in jesus name amen amen fruit that is never out of season the text was read for us a while ago and we are grateful it's a well-known passage of scripture it's a short portion um luke 13 6-9 but there are a couple of things that we want to just plug in this inductive uh method where we we do some observation we look at what it is saying and then we see how it can be applied to our lives amen amen so you could just turn to the text that was read that is luke chapter 13 verses 6 through to 9. no i know i i told you the thieve a while ago but that's the general theme for the old mon right fruit that is never out of season but the thing that i want or the sub theme that i want to use for this message here today is it's time to be here look on someone and tell them it's time to be here and i call them fiercely look and tell them again it's time to be here yeah it's time it's time to beer and this is what this text is about where god is saying hey it's time to beer i want us to look at a couple of things that we want to note before we get into the interpretation of the text and look at what god is saying to us the text tells us in verse 6 of chapter 13 where it says that jesus told him a parable and he told him about a man who actually went to his to his fig tree his fig she was actually in a in a vineyard if you notice this was a fig tree that was not just by the wayside it was not just on a mountain side it was not just on on the road somewhere so if you're taking notes i want you to note first of all um that it was properly placed if you notice where it was pleased it was just not where it was please it was placed in his vineyard it was placed in a place in in a spot in a position where he has uh uh easy access to care for to tend to the the the tree it was placed in in a vineyard the text says so note where it was placed or planted but note also that according to the text it was not just placed there and left there on its own notice also that it was prepared because day after day year after year look at verse seven year after so he said to the man who took care of the vineyard you know what is it so it was not left on its own the the master is saying the owner is saying that enough was done to this big fig tree enough was done for this tree for it to bear know that put it on the sticky side of your mind enough was the so so the fact that it was not bearing was not because enough was not done for it to be here the fact that it was not bearing was not because um um it was not cared for the text says that it was prepared work was done so it was it was placed in a privileged position it was prepared it was taken care of but note also a third thing in the text in verse seven it tells us it says so he said to the man who took care of the vineyard for three years now i've been coming to look for fruit on this victory and haven't found any you notice that so it was placed it was prepared but it it had a problem anybody can show what the problem was it wasn't building any fruit it had a problem because it was not bearing any fruit the last thing i want you to note in this observation is that because it had a problem look at what he says to us he says to us in in verse seven for three years now i've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any not even one not even one he says so he says to the man the person who takes care of it cut it down why should it use up the soil he said the owner said to the person who takes care of it cut it down so note that because of the problem it might be punished because of the problem which problem again not bearing it might be punished not that it is going to be punished but it might be punished so he was saying listen listen enough of this no fruit business cut it down but a plea was made by the one who takes care who was tending the tree and say master let us give give me another year with the fig tree let me put some more fertilizer but but i'm gonna try something else with it and if it bears then fine but if not then cut it down so it is a possibility that it still get cut down you see the text if it doesn't bear fruit now i want us to notice something here that the fig tree was there not for decoration but for reproduction the fig tree was placed there not to look good there's a passage of scripture in mark chapter 11 and verse 13 i think you can bring it up for me mark chapter 11 verse 13 where it tells us that jesus was walking on the road one day with his disciples and while he was on his way on the road he saw a fiction from afar off the text tells us and when he saw the fiction the fiction had a lot of leaves it was oh it is up so let me just read it it has seen in a distant a fig tree in leaf it had a lot of leaves now watch this in the context in that time normally when you look at a picture and it has leaves it is a sign that it also has fruit is a sign that it also has fruit but this particular fig tree was filled with leaves but no fruit and it is it is just it was it was just a wonderful picture because jesus was actually describing the the state of the the jewish leaders at the time that was what was happening in the text it was it was just a picture of what was happening in the life of the jewish leaders at the time what was happening with them there were leaves without fruit there was there were leaves there were fig trees with leaves what was the lead so what's it so get a picture what jesus was showing us here is a situation where the leaders were showing the religious people were saying hey look at me i have fruit but if you ever come close so when jesus drew so from a distant you would assume that they had fruit why because they had leaves but when you actually go near to inspect the tree you realize that there was there was no fruit and you know what happened to that tree jesus curse the fiction what's the point here if it is that we remain without change without growth without bearing fruit we will be like this fig tree just having leaves without fruit tough lesson what is that serious warning hear why hear why the owner said we'll cut it down the owner says that he will cut it down if it if it remains in that state and doesn't change and doesn't grow and doesn't bear fruit himself he'll cut it down the text tells us as it gives us that description he's saying that listen this tree was in a a privileged position could you go back to the text in luke chapter 13 it it was in a privileged position a position of a favor that that allows it to to bear fruit no if you notice the question that the owner asks the owner asks the person who was taking care of the care of it well saying because why should why should i allow it to just take up and use of my soil my drone my my fertilizer my my my goods all the things that i why should i allow it no watch this this is a serious warning you know because the text is basically saying and based on what was happening in the culture in the context is that they were there the leaders the religious people were there they were they were occupying space certain privileged position but they were not doing anything to aid or to help those who would come to know jesus christ or to know the lord they were actually being an endurance to those who would come to because they were not allowing their light to shine so that people would see their good works and come to glorify god rather they were actually being a stumbling block by being a bad example by being religious without being righteous by telling the people to do right but living wrong to do good but living bad the situation here is that he's saying listen if it is that we are going to bear good fruit there are some things that must happen first of all as we find in uh first thessalonians 5 and verse 19 it tells us do not quench this spirit by the texas do not quench now the text is saying to us that we must not if we are going to bear fruit and good fruit we must not quench the holy spirit how do we quench the holy spirit we quench the holy spirit when himself or not just that we also quench the holy spirit when he's pricking us when he's talking us to do something and we refuse to do it we quench the holy spirit when he's leading us in a particular direction and we're not taking we're not yielding to to his is his call he's moving he's talking right but sometimes we we we grieve the holy spirit as well as we find in in ephesians 4 and verse 30 where the people were warned and encouraged not to grieve the holy spirit by whom we have been sealed until the day of redemption so what's the point the point is that we will not bear fruit if we quench the holy spirit we will not bear fruit if we grieve the holy spirit amen because watch it we by ourselves don't produce the fruit it is as we abide in him it is as we walk in him that we actually bear the fruit hello so so if we so we can't resist the spirit and bear good fruit are you with me we must yield to the spirit to be a good fruit as we are reminded also uh in galatians 5 and 16 that if we walk in step if we walk in the spirit we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh right so here the text hear the text now just as our thought for the day if you notice the thought for the day it says if we allow the garden now to have his way we will bear good fruit every day the thought for the day did you see it if if if we allow the gardener to have his we notice that if we if we allow the gardener to have is in this context we will call the god not the holy spirit let us refer to him in this tech the one who is tending the one who is caring the one who is seeking to nurture and to guide and and to talk and to lead let us see him in this context if we allow the gardener if we allow the holy spirit to have his way then we will see good fruit in our lives every day can somebody say amen to that amen so ho all right so garfield i hear you so what can i do about this no the first thing is that look at the text the text tells us a couple of things the text tells us that the order he went to the guard it he went to the to the vineyard to his vineyard and he saw he saw something and the text tells us what he saw he saw a fig tree without figs so let us start the message right here and give you three points our prayer and go the first thing is in looking at the text if we're going to bear fruit if we're going to change if we're going to be pleasing to the owner if we are going to bring joy and pleasure to him that's where they come himself retreat the first thing is that we first you take a note we must recognize our state we must recognize our state and what was the state of the tree fruitlessness it means therefore that we must do an evaluation a real serious evaluation where we examine ourselves to see if am i like that fig tree what are you talking about garfield like that fiction in what way if you notice the fig tree in the other story it had leaves it had things that would cause you to think that fruit was there you know what ken believes me preaching before you right now you know what ken believes you singing before us right now you know what ken believes you you know what can believe all the things we do all the gifts we demonstrate without the fruit of the spirit because what we're talking about here this morning is not about the gifts of the spirit we're not talking about a person's talent we're talking about the fruit of this spirit as we find it in galatians 5 and 22. i know you're probably listening and waiting for me to touch on them that is next week what i'm doing this week is just to set a foundation of the fact that we should bear fruit next week as i share we're going to look at the type of fruit that should be evident in our life but i'm just setting the foundation of the importance or the necessity of us bearing good fruit the text tells us of what about what he saw so if it is that we are going to be pleasing to the master we first must recognize our state why because we're not going to change what we don't see you know can somebody say amen to that can somebody say amen to that we're not going to change where we don't see so if we don't see it we're not going to change so i first must see it so that i can say it before i actually stop it the text says i must first we have to recognize our skill to see if it is actually a state of fruitlessness or fruitfulness if not we need to check it the text tells us that that no fruit was it's remember i know when we read in john chapter 15 when they read verse 8 the text tells us that god's desires that we bear much fruit you know when our bible john chapter 15 and verse 8 the text tells us that what the father desires is that we bear not just fruit or some fruit the text says that he was his desire what pleases the father is that we bear much fruit but in this particular text it's not that there were there was much fruit or even some fruit there was no oil red bible there was no fruit there was no fruit there was no fruit the fruit that i want to talk about which i'm not going to go into here is as we find them in galatians 5 and 22 where it talks about the fruit of the spirit being love and joy and peace and patience and long-suffering and gentleness and kindness and being and self-control that is what we're going to look at and each week we're going to whichever speaker will come before we will just speak about one each week and we try to look at how that can be manifested in our lives but the text tells us that one we need to recognize our steel because the tree was not placed in that privileged position for the purpose of decoration but for reproduction listen number two so one we must recognize our state no if it is that we are able to identify a state like that fig tree then we need to repent of horsing uh because if we see it and say it then we need to stop it then we have to do something about it so that it it is talking about turning when we talk about repentance and this is the problem when we talk about too many people conclude that rip repent just means confess repent actually goes beyond conflict i can confess our sin or a particular habit from now till jesus come and continue to do it already the same way eh because i don't repent because i don't turn from let me give you an example this is brother good people um there are passages of scripture in first thessalonians turn it me there um not good people so let me share with you verse 6 tells us it says here is a group that was a model group which the jewish leaders in in the text in luke 13 was supposed to be as we are supposed to be to people in our community to people outside of our community to people wherever we go we are left air placed in a privileged position to be an example to be a model a light to those who would look and come watch this look at these people the text tells us in verse six it says you became talking to the thessalonians it says you became you became imitators of us and of the lord for you welcome the message in the midst of severe suffering kind of like where we are but you know don't you oh no a lie it's worse than what we are going through no because in that time it was risky it was dangerous being a christian because being a christian is actually putting a life on the line because you're saying hey caesar is not god because you're saying whatever emperor there at the time is not god there is one and three i live in god and that is jesus christ which is risky but that they did look at the text they were a model example the text says the text says to us this is a kind of repentance that we're talking about they did this in a time where there was severe suffering with joy given by the holy spirit listen to verse seven and so you became a model to all the believers in macedonia and ikea the lord's message rang out or sounded the text says in some um versions of the scripture that the word that is used here actually means it's like echoed so it sounded here but it was actually traveling to different places what is it ran out from you not only in macedonia and ikea your faith in god has become known everywhere therefore we do not need to say anything about it now watch this people were actually talking people were actually talking say hey you hear about the people i'm from you you're about to christian them you eat what the people do wouldn't it be wonderful for people around portmore to be going around say hey are you about here iguana pga and when them say you are gonna pg them not about eh it wouldn't be wonderful for people around port more and far in when them call and when they pick up them what's up or whatever forum there and say hey you are one a pg you're able to believe and it's a soul and a soul and a song the model example that they are so one we have to recognize our state too we have to repent aforesaid and we'll talk about the kind of repentance that looks like this it shows a change from what they were to who they are or ought to be last point watch this so one recognize our state two repent of our sin three renew our service renew our service if you notice in the text enough grace and space was given to to the fig tree because the owner say no no man cut it down it get too much blessing and privilege and now i do not vote cut it down but let him say all right give a little more time with it it was given enough grace and watch this there you realize that there is so the point is don't get too down on yourself there is still hope the text is the text in all of the sadness the text is present in hope you see the text is still said hey you are alive there is still time for change did you see that did you see that so can you say amen for that there is still time for it doesn't matter how long you have been this tree has been there three years every single year the the master come the owner come every damn come and come check it out and leave sad and him come after some time pass again and him come back come look and him and then notice this notice this the owner was watching you notice the owner was watching the text tells us that he came himself he himself came to the vineyard he himself is watching the growth or the lack thereof of the victory of you and i he himself is seen the the owner is watching but not just that the owners watching the owner is in the tech the owner is wanting fruit picture the water coming not just watching but but desiring wanting to see fruit every time him come on him nothing no no no fruit and leave sad but he was not just just watching and wanting it seems it seems he was waiting he was there waiting saying when it had a start beer man what i've invested but i've placed in your garfield in your gym jean when are you going to when am i going to see the fruit that i expect he was waiting and the years were piling up watch the text the text tells us that there was still hope kazim say hey now cut it down give me a little more time with it let me share a point with you before my clothes the fact that the tree is not cut down the tree still exists amen can somebody say amen the fact that we are not cut down and we still exist there is still time to change there is still time to grow there is still time to bear good fruit there is there is there is still time to to see the owner come and look and say yes because revelation tells us you know revelation tells us in chapter four that we were created for his pleasure we were we were not created to have pleasure that we are alone to have did again that we are allowed to have but we are created for his pleasure and the text says that he said all right that being the case i would allow this watch this ii peter 1 and 3 tells us that his divine power has given us everything that we need for life and godliness everything that we need for life and good living and righteous living so faithful lives equal to fruitful people did you get that faithful lives equal fruitful people so i know you say are fruitful people you can say they are living faithful lives but if it is that when we look and we are not seen fruitful people we no matter how much preaching singing jumping jumping we know that there is no faith for lies because faithful lies equals fruitful people what we then must do is to break up our follow grounds if it has become hard and by that army i mean yielding to the world because our our hearts only become hard when we when we reject or resist the word of god that's the only way our hearts become hard if each time we receive the word i would say now we're here and we don't do anything each time we do that our hearts become harder and harder and it must be broken so that the seed of the world can can get in our heart and germinate and bring forth fruit so this morning let's make a pledge to the lord now put up let's make a pledge to the lord that i will respond appropriately to the word of god because faithful lives yield fruits if you're here i invite you to just do an evaluation not announcement not an announcement an evaluation just between you and the lord that you're not just going to be a tree with just leaves but you're going to be a tree that bears good fruit so do the evaluation just between you and the lord and say to him right knowing all right now just right now if it is that the fruit the fruit is there and everything is all right then fine amen that is what the owner said is food come and it is there then amen everything is all right but if you do the evaluation i just said um well the love is not there and and the joy is not there and there is no patience and and banana self-control and and and the temp i mean there may know the fruit is not there then the text is saying let us respond appropriately that we might bear because it's time to bear otherwise insane might cut it down amen do the evaluation right now if not just talk to the lord right where you are right where you are and why you're talking to the lord i just want to say to anyone who is listening online anyone who heard the message and saying why so garfield i don't know jesus christ as lord and savior how does that apply to me i tell you the truth if you don't know jesus christ as lord and savior there's no way you can bear the kind of fruit that i'm talking about but if you don't come to know him as lord and savior then you too will be cut down so the first thing i i beg of you to do because the text tells us it gives us a a case that the master is going to seek some accountability and you two have been given life and privileges and blessings and given an opportunity to say yes to jesus christ i don't know for allah i don't know how old you are but you have been given the privilege and time and blessings to respond appropriately to him and i beg of you today to accept jesus christ as your personal lord and savior because without him you will be cut down and separated from god for all eternity if this is your desire i ask you to just say a prayer with me it's not any miracle in this prayer the thing is just that that you might believe in your heart that is what romans 9 tells us that if we believe in our hearts and if we confess with our mouths all right now i want to leave you in our word of prayer say lord jesus i come to you a sinner i accept you right now as my personal lord and savior thank you for dying for my sins for paying the price for me lord change me lord wash me and made me a new person i give myself to you help me to bear good fruit in jesus name amen amen if you're here as a believer i beg you today remember it's time to be here amen so thank you thanks deacon robinson for sharing the word of god with us today and particularly for reminding us that as
