you might be interested to know the SOT that song was written by a very remarkable woman Malvina Reynolds 60 years old lives in California and makes up songs about everything that happens to the world and I really think that you know they're not enough women here did you ever hear the story of the convention it was in America women's suffrage a hundred years ago they were fighting for the right to vote and they had a one of their early conventions the Chairman concluded her speech and said ladies we have a big job to do we must now return to our home communities and carry on the fight for the right to vote we will have many problems and many detractors but in our hour of deepest need we can pray to God and she will hear our prayers a song that I wrote ten years ago has become well-known because of another gracious lady Marlena Dietrich she sings it in a different language than I wrote it in but I think it sounds even better even though I can't sing it all she starts off sock me oh the bloomin Xin where have all the flowers gone long time passing where have all the flowers gone long time ago where have all the flowers gone girls have picked them everyone when will we ever learn when will we ever where have all the young girls gone long time passing where have all the young girls gone long time ago where have all the young girls gone taken husbands everyone when will we ever learn when will we where all the young a long time passing where have all the young men gone long time ago where have all the young men gone they're all in uniform oh when will we ever learn when will we ever my only complaint about this song is that maybe it's not specific enough it's too easy just to say when will we ever learn without being what you really talking about
