[Music] um so how many of you are familiar with the case of skyler niece i'm not i haven't i haven't been but i'm back with another that chapter video in the next video we're getting into is the case with scholar nice now it says here in the description in 2012 young scholar nice uh vanished without a trace in this video we'll look at what led to that uh her two friends sheila edie and rachel and the tragic events that followed and led to the major trial so we're gonna get into this video next man i'm i'm moving to my seat for this one let's go they didn't want to be friends with her anymore which is sick you know if you don't want to be friends with somebody leave them alone but don't murder them what do you want to say to these two girls right now how's that that's exactly what i wanted to do i want them to go through the pain and agony my daughters went through i want them to have no life because skyler doesn't have one hey can you blame him whatever happened to his daughters that we about to find out i always say put yourself in that parent's shoes can you blame him let's see what happened you and welcome back my name is mike and in this video right here we're going to look into the case of skyler nice this is going to be a hard one to make my little jokes about skyler niece disappeared from her home in star city west virginia on july 6 2012. [Music] there's a lot of that social media yoke people keep telling me about in this video and we'll also take a look at her two best friends it's uh definitely one of those with friends like these kind of situations so let's get into what happened to skyler niece [Music] [Music] skyler niece was born on february 10 1996 to parents mary and dave niece often described as intelligent compassionate stubborn and bubbly skyler was an only child she grew up and went to elementary school in cheat lake west virginia when skyler was in the second grade she met sheila eddie sheila who was five months older was also an only child the two girls immediately became friends they began high school together in 2010. at high school the two met rachel schoff an aspiring actress and singer the world around me changes like skylar and sheila she too was an only child the tree started hanging out together and began to get into just a little bit of trouble like nothing major drinking alcohol smoking weed skipping school breaking curfew that kind of stuff parents and friends of both skyler and rachel claimed that sheila was a bad influence on the two some of skyler's friends actually avoided hanging out with her when she was with sheila whom they described as mean and controlling rachel's friends said the same thing about sheila whom they blamed for changes in rachel's personality and her behavior regardless skyler had no intention of breaking up her relationship with sheila a friend she looked up to rachel's reasons however for staying and hanging out with sheila were less obvious she was from a relatively affluent family and was more popular than sheila she didn't really need her to be cool this is just straight out of high school drama it's ridiculous i think rachel just liked the fact that with sheila she was able to do things she couldn't do with the friends who shared who shared her her similar religious background she was able to break the rules with sheila anyway despite you know sheila being constantly described as the bad one you know she was evil that kind of stuff it was actually rachel when she entered the scene that's when things took a turn for a while everything seemed to be going fine until their sophomore year skyler then was put in an uncomfortable position when during a sleepover in late summer 2011 she watched sheila and rachel have drunken sex together the sleepover ended with skylar and sheila arguing a rift had begun to form between skyler and sheila while sheila and rachel were becoming closer skylar was start uh had started to become excluded i can't say when i'm high oh my god you know what i i need to tell you a secret i've i just forgot you have a secret from me well i mean i've never told i haven't told anyone not even skyla no okay i didn't even tell skylar that i get high that's that's one of my secrets but anyways um well i told my mom that what i rear-ended someone often sheila and rachel would dress alike leaving skyler the odd girl out both sheila and rachel were sexually active and had boyfriends while sheila and rachel viewed skyler as kind of an immature little tag along but she also knew a lot of things about sheila and rachel that no one else knew she knew their their secrets which will cause a problem skyler hinted at this several times on twitter at one point tweeting i tell the whole school all the [ __ ] i have on everyone which is a lot hashtag if i could get away with it as i said twitter again man we talk about this all the time yo we do we it's like beating a dead horse bro we talk about it a lot man like be try to be involved as much as you can pay attention to this social media i was always of the mindset of if i can't have access to your social media or you don't even need social media you know what i'm saying like but i want you to have a life i want you to grow up have your own experiences but i still can have access to your social media because sometimes kids can't see things that we can see because we've been there done that you know what i'm saying so we can see things through a different lens than they do and we can kind of pick up on yo this you know what i'm saying this might not be a good situation maybe we need to remove her out of this situation will come up a lot in this story arguments that were often held on twitter between skyler and sheila continued to worsen a tipping point came when in early june 2012 skyler and sheila spent an entire one-week trip to myrtle beach fighting and when they got home sheila told rachel that skyler has to die no sheilas call for murder um didn't come out of the blue fellow students and a teacher even had overheard the girls talking about the best ways to dispose of a body in october 2011. now the fact was that just a few weeks before they were overheard talking about that a body had been discovered not far from when they from where they lived so it wasn't really thought of that odd at the time how many people would have took them serious i know a lot of people could sit at staying at home now but go back and look at their pictures or wait till their pictures come up again and look at them and and say to yourself if they started talking about hiding your body would you have taken them serious be honest with yourself don't say it because you're watching this video right now and saying i would have took them serious because they look like innocent young girls who just getting into normal typical teenage activities you know i'm saying smoking drinking uh breaking curfew different things like all the type of stuff that we all took part in doing we all played a part in some kind of way of doing some kind of things to break the rules you know what i'm saying so when you hear certain things like that of course your antennas go up but do you really take them serious note but we gotta start taking them serious that's the point right there man they could have saved this girl's life by somebody the teacher heard it but in my mind they probably didn't take them seriously according to one girl who overheard them they were specifically talking about skyler however when this girl told skyler hey i just overheard your two best friends talking about how to dump your body and nobody would find it um skyler was like oh they're just playing a game no biggie whatever yeah even so she confronted the girls about her conversation but they assured her it was nothing would you guys rather suffocate or get shot get shot shot as way it depends on where would you rather in the head shot there would be no suffering at all eaten by ants are suffocated suffocated what kind of game is this it's kind of like they trying to see what's she like which way she like to die it's the same thing i know but it's not because yeah we're on a pillow but that wasn't the only uh warning sign in in spring 2012 worried that skyler might blackmail them uh rachel allegedly told another student i wouldn't mind if she died as you do rachel also half jokingly blurted out we should kill her during a science class followed by sheila nodding in agreement still the group continued to hang out together and while skyler was aware of the state of her friendship with sheila still her best friend she had no idea what was coming [Music] this was her last tweet you're doing like this that is why i would never completely trust you stress will be the death of me sick of being home thanks friends love hanging out with you all too on thursday july 5th 2012 uh skyler got home from her shift at wendy's at about 10 10 p.m she then went kissed her parents good night went up to her room around midnight sheila and rachel either called or texted her asking if she wanted to go for a ride with them sheila parked her car next to denise's apartment and skyler as she usually did and become a habit for her she snuck out of her room placing a small bench beneath the room's window and she got into the car with the two other girls unbeknownst to skyler the trunk of sheila's car contained a shovel fresh clothes and bleach the tree girls then drove to morse run road a one-lane back road sheila parked the car on a spot about a mile into the road and they got out they chatted for a while and when skyler started walking towards the character pick up a lighter the girls counted to tree and on this pre-arranged signal started stabbing skyler with knives they'd kept hidden beneath their hoodies skyler tried to run but she was tackled by rachel skyler managed to grab her knife and fight back inflicting a cut above rachel's ankle but she was overpowered by the two girls stabbing her repeatedly the girls then stood over her watching her die in her dying moments she could only say why now think back to that to that dad in the beginning think back to that dad in the beginning how would you feel i don't blame him i i do not blame him at all now all i do is hear his voice echoing in my head of what he said in the beginning sheila and rachel had planned to bury skylar but the ground turned out to be too rocky for their shovels instead they moved the body next to a big tree and covered her with rocks and branches after washing themselves in a creek the girls disposed of their bloody clothes and knives but left scholars turned off cell phone next to her body but they got y'all on camera though got you on camera everything you done already pretty much told the whole school all of this took a few hours and the girls were back home by don the next day skyler's parents left for work early they assumed skyler was still asleep in bed her father dave came home around midday so that skyler could borrow his car for her shift at wendy's however no one was home at the door to scholar's room was locked from the inside dave then noticed a small bench outside and an open window and realized skyler had snuck out at some point during the previous night he immediately called sheila to find out if she had been in contact with skyler she admitted to having talked to scholar on the phone around midnight but she hadn't seen her soon after mary skyler's mother got home and a manager at wendy's called asking about skyler with the situation becoming more worrying the nieces called the police then sheila ranked this time she changed her story admitting that she and skyler had in fact gone joyriding the previous night according to her they had picked skyler up around 11 pm and returned her home at the end of the street in less than an hour before midnight skyler's mother mary knew something was seriously wrong and she took to facebook [Music] angel she actually came home from work and snuck out her bedroom window when i was in bed sounds similar sound familiar we have security cameras in it they show her getting in a car with someone but none of her coach's friends seem to know anything and no one has seen or heard from her since she has not even she has not even show or called work so that is a little scary that is all i know at this time still trying to find out anything i can but neither no one knows or they are not talking think about it y'all i could easily be one of our children you know what i'm saying easily we don't pay attention as as much as we should some of us do some of us don't know what they're involved in or what they're doing with their friends you know we try to give them as much room as they can but we got we got to bro this is crazy these these girls well not all of them but they grew up together for the most part soon after i would be losing my mind sheila and her mother tara arrived at skyler's home wanting to help in the search for skyler they began by knocking on nearby houses have you seen her is she here did you see anything this girl got the audacity to help look for um they got nothing uh then they they uh asked their landlord who had surveillance video and they seen the surveillance footage no one at the time realized the car skyler was seen getting into was in fact sheila's car now no one at this point actually suspected sheila's story so they didn't bother to rewind even further to see if she had in fact picked her up at 11 and dropped her home it didn't bother they just seen skyler getting into some stranger's car it was sheila's car but for some reason nobody recognized it as sheila's car it's kind of hard when the culprit is standing in front of you right so you won't put two and two together until you have a chance to calm your emotions sit down let things process and think about it remove yourself from you so emotionally attached to it and and and up and like your adrenaline is every your emotions is everywhere everything is going so fast that you don't even think that the person who could have done it is right up under your nose the car you might could recognize but your brain is just thousand miles an hour a million miles an hour because you know you're trying to find your daughter that's crazy they even erroneously described it as an suv when it's not an suv it was it's quite strange and when the police officer who had arrived viewed this surveillance footage he said get this she voluntarily just probably ran away with some guy and she'd be back in a few days don't worry about it probably the worst advice you could ever give someone like ever after skyler went missing sheila definitely played the victim card oh my gosh y'all we this video gonna be long because this is crazy after skyler went missing sheila yes hold my back forgive someone like ever i want my best friend back here skyler went missing sheila death all i want is for my best friend to come home i wish i knew something to give the police a lead or so she can come home but i don't know anything i'd do anything to have her home right now and i wish i knew something like everybody thinks i do come home scholar spend five weeks too long i miss and i love you now from watching a lot of these different types of videos and stuff like that normally the person who's doing a lot of talking on social media knows something they can't i don't know if there's something inside of them that can't let them just be quiet or they gotta say something because maybe it's eating at them so they gotta talk pay attention to those people definitely played the victim card skyler come back i seriously can't deal with school without you it's been way too long i miss you too much i love you and can't wait to see you kinda tired of losing sleep over this so then the detective who's assigned to schuyler's disappearance from the local police department and was joined by an fbi agent uh joined by an fbi agent because another person had gone missing in the area always previous and they thought it might be linked they interviewed sheila on july 9th three days after the murder sheila merely repeated what she had told earlier about picking scholar up at 11 pm and dropping her off less than an hour later sheila seemed more curious about the investigation than worried about her missing friend and it was the police detective who when interviewing sheila noticed she had a silver car and linked that to the one in the surveillance footage and the next day the detective called rachel and rachel pretended to know nothing about schuyler's disappearance she had left her church camp on july 7th but spent the morning of july 6 boating with her mother and her mother's friend both her mother and her mother's friend noticed the cut on rachel's ankle it was agreed that rachel would show up for a face-to-face interview once she got back from the camp which she never showed when the detective later got a chance to interview rachel face to face she told the exact same story as sheila that they had dropped skyler off before midnight gotcha they got you now and the detective thought that their stories that they told separately were so precise to such a degree they seemed rehearsed nevertheless there was nothing really to go on skyler was last seen getting voluntarily into a car so they couldn't issue an amber alert because they can only issue that for abducted children but skyler did this seemingly voluntarily skyler's family and her friends thought this was extremely bizarre not only was she not the type of person to just leave and not tell anybody she'd also left her contact lenses her phone charger back in her room she left the bench outside her room window she left the room window open as if she was coming back you know [Music] the school year then started about a month later and they were still no closer to finding out anything about skyler mary niece understandably was pretty darn unhappy about this and she contacted the state police and they took on the case warrants were issued to seize the means of electronic communication from sheila and rachel the state police also reviewed these surveillance tapes several times before finally figuring out sheila is never seen picking skylar up at 11 pm we're going to start with her father dave niece thank you sir for being here our hearts go out to you we know these past two months must have been horrific um tell us about what your daughter did right before she disappeared how did she get out of your home and what did she do according to you with her friends well she came home from work like you said that evening and she got home and walked in the door she went over her mother hugged and kissed her mother this kid came over to me kiss me excuse me with your bedroom and that's the last we've seen of her no sheila had tried i make the hairs who stand up on your body man because you know is is tearing him apart fam no word no nothing you don't know if she's trapped somewhere somebody's doing something to her you you just feel completely hopel uh helpless man to insert herself into the investigation from the get-go she kept on trying to get onto the niece's good side she would she would cry and appear upset and bleeding distraught over skyler and wherever she was she would distribute missing posters and everything you know appearing to be the biggest victim of all she began to ask the nieces about the investigation and when the police told the nieces don't tell sheila about where we are in this investigation we think you know she might know more than she's telling us we have reason to be suspicious she then she then started getting other people to ask about the investigation she wanted to like remain one step ahead at all times and back at school rumors about sheila and rachel just swirled and swirled rumors like maybe um skyler had overdosed and sheila and rachel had left her to die now and at this time like sheila was referring to the fbi and the state police as her best buds and they were all hunky-dory trying to find skyler together rachel on the other hand was starting to crack like an egg rachel was just trying to get away from it he wasn't having any of it didn't even want to know anything didn't even visit schuyler's parents she just wanted to shut down almost and not hear anything close your ears bury your head and rachel really started to fall apart and the authorities noticed they helped push rachel into changing her story after they pointed out the surveillance footage does not match up and that they had their cell phone records so they were able to kind of track where they where they were to a limited degree so rachel changed her story she said that the three of them went out for a ride and that skyler just ran off into the woods and that sheila and rachel they weren't able to find her gotcha this time they got you whoo and that was her story then uh and sheila then changed her story to match rachel's story but only after she heard rachel i changed her story on december 16th and still no idea of what happened to skyler mary posted a long message to her facebook account the post detailed the various steps that had been taken so far by the law enforcement and the community in order to find skyler mary also implicitly called sheila and rachel out for a line and even mentioned the possibility that skyler might have been murdered said this scenario continued for two months until i could no longer take it i know my daughter and i know she would not stay away that long may be in vain and assuming it but i truly feel that she could not stay away from me that long let alone her friends i went to city police one day stationed one day had no intention of leaving the premises without answers oh yeah telling y'all bro a mother's pain is nothing you want to play with she is not going to stop nor anybody will but that mother she's going to get to the bottom of she knows her child you know the mom if not anybody she knows her child and here are some of the many many tweets that rachel and skyler got you know sheila is pointing the finger at you i forgive you but we won't once what happens to scott gets out maybe you can finally tell her what happened the entire community suspected them rachel later got in a fight with her parents she locked herself in a room she tried to kill herself and she had to be hospitalized in a psychiatric unit unfolding straight up unfolding on january 3rd police interviewed rachel again and after only a few short questions rachel said we stabbed her rachel told them what had happened that they had picked skylar up after midnight driven her to a remote back road stabbed her to death and buried her body when the police asked why she and sheila had done it she could only come up with we just didn't like her anymore it was agreed that rachel would take the police to the location of the body immediately the investigators rachel herself and her attorney arrived at the location where rachel said they had killed skyler it was so snowy that rachel couldn't pinpoint the exact spot where they had buried her the investigators would have to wait for the snow to melt the investigators now knew what happened to skylar but with their bodies still buried in the snow they had no evidence beyond rachel's words knowing sheila would be anxious to meet her buddy they put rachel's room under electronic surveillance and had her set up a meeting with sheila unfortunately rachel wasn't able to extract anything incriminating out of sheila on that occasion two weeks later on january 16th the investigators returned to the spot this time with a canine unit the snow had mostly melted while the dog's handler was picking up a gps tracker that had fallen off the dog he noticed skeletal remains under a pile of branches six months after schuyler had disappeared she was finally found during the following months rachel was allowed to roam free while the investigators were gathering evidence she really held it all the way out family is all you need it's clear to me now that no matter what we'll always have your family they'll love you no matter what i don't know what i do without my brother sometimes i wish i didn't fall in love you were so dope about the metric system in america whatever today was by far the hardest day of my life so far it's hard to say goodbye and let go of something that means the world to you numb best 46 minutes of my life first kisses last kisses are you serious are you serious still the father echoing in my head right now only against her but particularly against sheila who they thought would never admit to the crime and sheila knew they were after her sheila was then given a search warrant to seize every knife in her house and also her car she also knew by this time the scholar's body had been found [Music] on march 13th uh the body had been verified as being scalar nieces and this information was released to the public schuyler's postmortem revealed she had been stabbed 50 times still nothing else really about these circumstances of her death were announced and sheila tweeted this on that day [Music] about a month later sheila then tweeted this [Music] on may 1st rachel we really did go on three remember back in the story they said one two three and then they started stabbing and they pulled the knives out from under the hoodies or coats or whatever ended herself to the authorities and she had her day her first day in court where she pled guilty to the murder of skyler niece she agreed to testify against sheila and annie trial in exchange the prosecution agreed to recommend 20 years for second-degree murder sheila was then arrested at cracker barrel while dining with her mother on september 4th sheila pled not guilty to the charges of murder kidnapping and conspiracy [Music] then at sheila's pre-trial hearing on january 24th 2014 sheila started sobbing as soon as she sat down before the trial had even begun often she clinged to her attorney for support she then changed her plea and pled guilty to first-degree murder in exchange for her guilty plea the prosecution agreed to a sentence of 15 years to life with the possibility of parole after 15 years sheila eddie how do you plead to the offensive murder in the first degree of the felony charged in count three of the indictment in this case guilty the record will reflect that the defendant has entered a plea of guilty to the offense of murder in the first degree the felony charged in count three of the indictment in this case may be seated once the chair please as eddie have you heard what the prosecutor said the state's evidence would be yes sir is that substantially correct yes sir is that what happened yes sir is eddie are you entering a plea of guilty to the offense of murder in the first degree the felony charged encounter babies man they babies why babies and it's like you feel sorry for her in this moment here this present moment this humanized moment but then you think back of what they did and you're like nah this will drive you emotionally and cr uh crazy all three of this indictment because you are in fact guilty of this offense yes sir my name is david niece mom scholar father um i'm here today with my wife mary the person sitting before you got her so-called friend took her away from us without any remorse or feelings you can look into the eyes of those who are responsible but you could never hear what they heard as they were taking her life [Music] you can see the faces of the killer when you can't see scott's face give me a minute that's rough right there bro give me a minute that's rough that's rough to hear that she can never understand the fear that she wants to add as he took the knife and into her life is eddie which please stand she'll add it for your conviction of the offense of murder in the first degree upon your plea of guilty it is the sentence of the court that you've been imprisoned in the west virginia state penitentiary for the rest of your natural life consistent with the requirements of the constitution of the united states that sentence is technically with mercy which makes you eligible for parole after you have served 15 years [Music] after the trial dave niece schuyler's father swore that he'd be at every parole hearing to make sure sheila never walks free dave i also have a question for you i know nothing will ever replace losing your daughter but does this bring any sort of sense of closure and can your family start to like i said before there's no closure at all i don't think i mean who knows how my mind works right now but um if you can figure out let me know but the only way that there could be closure if they both were in prison i know they're both in jail right now one of them has been sentenced one of them has them after the other one gets sentenced then we can start worrying about all that but right now i don't think it'll ever be closed my little girl with something you can't close rachel that's a fact that's a fact right there that's i felt every word he said even the confusion of whether it can be closed i understand that part of it like you you can't man that that child came for me no man it's no kind of nothing you can do your sympathy your empathy none of that type of stuff really holds weight right now it don't hold true i i i wouldn't know what to do well sentencing hearing began on february 2nd she accepted the sentence 30 years for second-degree murder with the possibility of parole after 10. and still to this day we do not know why they did this and that is a question we would like an answer to because what in the world would be so bad that you would have to kill skyler and to put her through what you did you didn't think about that when you were doing it so why would we need to think about how you feel now you stood there for over a year comforting being with us telling us you knew nothing when the police and everybody was coming close then you decided to confess you need to think about everything you put us your family and everyone else through with not being able to have the pleasures that other kids could have no grandchildren no marriages no problem no graduation how do you think that would make us feel man and what sucks is these two parents have to live with what they did they'll get the dirt they'll be in jail these two will be in jail right but their parents and their families will be out there on the street and they'll get the dirty looks the harsh stares you know the whispers the the all of that type of stuff it affects it's a ripple effect that's gonna affect their family i feel bad for their parents their brothers siblings close immediate family i do because they gotta wear that too man and that sucks because they had nothing to do with it both are currently serving their sentences at lachen correctional center in 2014 scholars parents sued the girls and their mothers for damages over skyler's death they were arguing that the parents by neglecting to supervise their daughters are partially responsible for what happened to skyler now that doesn't really seem right i mean sheila and rachel's parents are no more responsible for what happened to skyler than skyler's parents are for not watching her enough and therefore she was able to escape out her room the night she died now that case never went to court uh schuyler's parents accepted an offer from their legal teams they settled for five million dollars however it's unlikely they will ever see that money one of the most disturbing things about this case is had a seemingly no motive other than they didn't like her anymore which is just terrifying and extremely disturbing it isn't extremely sad but it also shows that like i said kids babies they were still babies especially in the mind you know what i'm saying their only motive was we don't like her anymore kids not in tragic case what happened to schuyler niece a case of teenage jealousy anger resentment i don't know but it is straight out of like a high school drama i'm pretty sure there's actually a movie or tv shows of high school things that are based on this and that's the story of skylar nice pretty disturbing let me know what you think about it down below one of the craziest stories i think i've ever heard chilling stories like scary stories his whole hit hits close to home for anybody who has children um heck you could be watching this video during the day when your kids are in school and it makes you automatically think what they could be doing what they could be talking about what they could be involved in you know i mean these stories right here man are great conversational pieces for you to talk about and sit down with your family man and and and just talk about ask them is anything wrong let them know that they can always come to you you know what i'm saying be that shoulder that they need to lean on and let them know man it's never worth this at all now at the end of the trial the whole lawsuit that's the whole messy side of things you know what i mean and you really can't blame the family because they're still grieving so they're lashing out at any and everything at that moment and you can't really hold it against them so i understand the lawsuit whether it was right or wrong it is what it is that's just the messy side of things at the end of it because that family is going through it and we'll continue to forever go through it man so you know you can't really take offense to it you understand it you may not like it five million dollar lawsuit for uh our children and we didn't even know what's happening you know what i'm saying i get it i get it i get it so y'all get at me in the
