chin let's meet them and find out my name is Ryan Chandler from Omaha Nebraska by day I'm a teacher and my night I do magic and music just like creating a song it's the same thing creating a trick or a routine you want to put in your own formula and try to just figure something out that's artistically unique to you the trip down doing for Penn & Teller it's like someone's is like a light meal or something just touched me on the top of the heads that here it is and it just happened I can't take credit for it I don't even know how it happened and I've been doing music forever and I've been doing magic for a long time the two storms just came together and that's what's gonna happen tonight magic Brian Chandler all right thank you for having me two passions of mine are magic and music and right now I'd like to try something using a little bit of both also would you please join me on stage there's an gentleman Alison that's enough that's enough it's still my trick okay Alison here's what we gonna do it starts out with the deck of cards all the cards are different are you gonna do is just touch one card that you feel drawn to okay go ahead any cards you'd like okay now just so these guys over here know that it's a free selection why don't you go ahead and change your mind okay okay perfect all right go ahead show it to no one not even the camera okay go ahead okay all right so that was the card portion of the magic trick now I need to get to the music portion so if we could Penn & Teller please join me on stage come on up that's them you've got your vase yeah no you don't talk so I wanted to find a way to incorporate you into the tricks like brought out a chime and then a a musical instrument for you you just strike the chime you want to give it a try yeah yeah favourite for me at the end alright and then we have your bass we stole this from you so yeah go ahead just make sure it still works that's enough okay so now we go to the teaching portion I'm a teacher by day you know all about that this is a truly magical piece of music equipment known as a looper what it allows you to do is you can record something and then if you just press the button it'll play it over and over and over again endlessly as if in a loop so that's what we're gonna go ahead and try right now okay just to be clear everything that you are about to hear is happening in real time magic in the form of music track 1 will be me Allison you'll be on track 2 so get ready to roll track 3 is gonna be our Penn & Teller track so you guys gonna go together on that one a truck yep okay and then I'm gonna go on track for your round us up okay okay here we go [Music] I want you to go ahead [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay since you're a musician I know it wasn't you guys do I can you put the base back and then I'll go ahead and I'll take your charm I'm gonna let you come over and actually play with the looper a little bit okay okay so come on over now they say when you take an old record and you spin it backwards sometimes you get that hidden message tell there do you see that we're first button right there go ahead reverse button if you'd like go ahead [Music] now Alison you picked a card right at the beginning any card you wanted for the first time go and show everyone your card [Applause] thank you very impressive I was a little worried when you gave me my own track oh did you ever want to just be a musician absolutely I just wasn't good enough and same thing with magic so I just try to do a little bit of both and hopefully you guys are entertained by it and you teach yep I'm a teacher by day so do you teach I teach middle school six grades six through eight and it's kind of fun when I get the sixth graders they don't know I do magic so I just kind of like make things disappear without letting the money know so they'll be sitting there and I'll make something vanish and then I'll walk off and they'll say do you have that they're like what where'd it go I'm like I don't know all right let's see if Penn & Teller know all the beats cheering all right sounds good boy it's it's really great so nice to see that and so nice to see looping used I love I love looping and they under the Beatles did a White Album and on it was revolution number nine have you played that backwards you've got to me on dead man to me on dead man to me on did them and I would play that on my tape on my turntable way back we had those backwards over and over again till I could do it and then I got a tape recorder then tested it so I could actually say number nine backwards made the whole thing very very plausible and very good but you know like all good magicians you told a lie right up top right at the very beginning really early on one that everybody else believed and we even believed until we saw the trick so I'm going to give you I've already told you that part of that but I'll give you the other part of that in backwards is for its swarf one did do you understand esource I understand that yeah completely I'm not as good at code schoolteachers [Applause] [Music]
