wondering if you could possibly help me anything I can help you out you can let me know what you're confirm yeah so this is and you guys can help me with PayPal issues right yes yes PayPal fraud prevention okay great that's exactly what I need help with um okay so it just seems like there is maybe a charge on my PayPal account that shouldn't be there and I'm not sure what to do thank you I'm sorry what id number okay transaction ID um here zero six two okay and what is the amount that has been selling up there it looks like it's three thousand dollars and I that shouldn't be the case okay oh no that none of that should be in there I didn't make any of those purchases or to anyone your family no not that I know of okay because right now your boyfriend commitment.com provided through the network it might be one person on internet but if people use it on any kind of thing advertisement or link because of that because right now your network attack so we have to remove the hackers who are right now connected with your personal information and you have to work on the network so I want to ask you with the Wi-Fi router that you have in your home how many devices are connected with it oh geez we have a lot every TV in the house and the iPads and the phones and the laptops uh do you have a laptop ready with you right now yes we have to connect the laptop with the default security server so we can remove the hackers who are right now connected with your network so I will be guiding you with some stuff and you have to follow that let me know what you're already okay so you have to connect me with the PayPal servers so that yeah we can fix the hat so how are we going to fix the hacking we're going to put the Securities on the network we have to remove the factors foreign from that you're going to work on it so how how exactly do we do that yes we are connecting your computer you're gonna connect okay on your network and then it will be fake okay all right how do we connect the security okay yeah I I really I need help okay so that's why you have to follow myself okay I won't even look on your keyboard or the left 45 of your people they're the windows here boxes what computer do you have I have a MacBook okay on your MacBook okay here anyway okay and that that's like a remote desktop connection right yeah that's good so you're going to remotely connect with my computer yes and then from there your plan is to do what exactly you know fix your next level and how do is there there's no way for me to just put the Securities on my network by myself by yourself okay maybe I'll just do that then install the sonic wall by myself not as persistent as some of the scammers have been in the past um but that was an interesting one so I was very lucky to have found a fake transaction ID number and uh it showed that it was associated with three thousand dollar PayPal transaction and I said that that was fraudulent you know obviously he said oh there was a Macbook purchased blah blah blah so this one's a little more complicated than a past tech support scam that we've had that was a little more straightforward so this one he it's like a fake PayPal transaction and they want to worry you about that fake transaction so that you need to set up this network security thing and I tried to get him to explain that to me but you know obviously the end goal is for them to get access remotely to your computer in this case he wanted me to download or sign into TeamViewer um he told me to download and install the sonic wall which would somehow magically protect my computer that had been hacked or PayPal account that had been hacked but this was a good example of uh PayPal slash tech support scams and as he was talking I was kind of doing a little research about PayPal scams and PayPal actually has a really good um fraud reporting within their own platforms so just go to PayPal or you can just Google uh PayPal fraud report and there are all sorts of tips and uh ways that you can report and perhaps resolve issues just as with BBB or Amazon Walmart larger companies scammers will often impersonate a legitimate company in order for you to feel that you know more at peace with the organization so oh I'm dealing with PayPal oh I'm dealing with Amazon you know you feel just a sort of a sense of trust when you know the organization right and um to be transparent PayPal is a BBB accredited business um so you can check out their business profile online too and um if for some reason you have issues directly with the legitimate PayPal business you can file a complaint on that but we encourage people to report scams like this where somebody's impersonating a legitimate business like PayPal in this example uh to BBB scam trackers so go to bbb.org scam tracker report things like this never ever let someone have remote access to your computer TeamViewer Ultra viewer there's a million different kinds of remote desktop uh softwares that you can put on your computer or go to online that somebody can access your computer very easily with just a few steps so it's very important that you never give access to your computer to somebody that you don't know that you don't trust um that's the the most important tip to take away from this and second to to report scams like this whether you see them pop up on your computer or you get an email from PayPal it might look like it's legitimately from PayPal but it's not or a text message or a phone call whatever it is if you receive anything like this please do report it to us so that we can help hopefully provide some more information and reports to law enforcement or government officials so that they can take some action and shut these scammers down thanks for watching today please go
