Pawn Stars: Ooze it Toy | History

- It's an old toy from the 80s. His name is Ooze-It. CHUMLEE: OK. FERNANDO: And he was a very unique item, actually. He's a toy that you would take off his head, fill it up with slime, squeeze his stomach, and ooze would come out of his eyes, ears, nose, mouth-- my parents thought it was disgusting. CHUMLEE: Yeah, he does look like an alien has a drinking problem. FERNANDO: Oh yeah. I found Ooze-It at a swap meet, and I think I ended up paying $7 for him. I collect a lot of rare toys and I recognized it right away. I don't generally collect this type of figure, and it's just sitting in a display case so I figured I'd sell him and get the items that I do collect. CHUMLEE: The Ooze-It is a pretty cool toy. It's pretty rare too. Came out in 1981. It was made and manufactured by a family from Louisiana, and they really weren't known for anything else. They didn't have another toy. Have you ever used it yourself? FERNANDO: I've never used it. The slime is still intact. OK. I wonder if this is the original slime. Ooze-It. This is a pretty cool. Red ooze compound. May be squeezed out of the doll, but must be put back into the doll or bottle or it dries up. They didn't have to run out of goo, you know? FERNANDO: Exactly. As long as they took care of it. FERNANDO: Oh yeah. CHUMLEE: I see you got the box here too. That's good. It does have some damage, obviously. FERNANDO: Yeah. CHUMLEE: It's missing the top there. It's not often you have a box from a toy this rare. Exactly. Because this toy wasn't mass produced. And that's what makes it so valuable today. These things could be worth a couple thousand dollars if they're still in the package and in the box, you know? FERNANDO: Yeah. The plugs are intact. CHUMLEE: Actually, I do see a little slime residue in there. So I imagine at some point this was definitely played with, so-- Possibly. What did you want to do with it? I was looking to sell it. OK. How much are you looking to get? I was looking to get around $500 for it. You know what, that doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. But I just really don't know how much they're worth opened up. I'm thinking more like $200. I can't do $200. I think realistically I'd be happy at $350, given the condition-- the history behind it. If you could do $300, we could make a deal right now. I think $300 is fair. All right. It's a deal, man. I'll meet you right over here to write it up. FERNANDO: I'm leaving here with $300. I'm excited. I think I'm going to take my family out for a great dinner-- just have a great time tonight. CHUMLEE: Check it out guys. Ooze-It. One of the best toys ever. What is that? CHUMLEE: You put the ooze in there and squeeze it out and the ooze comes everywhere. This is stupid. CHUMLEE: This thing is fun. COREY: I mean, it's not nearly as cool as the bricks and stuff you used to play with as a kid. - I had tons of cool toys. - Oh yeah? Like what? Like the pet rock? Actually, I did have one of those. You probably, like, took care of it too, huh? CHUMLEE: You probably had like four of them. RICK: I had cool toys when I was a kid. Like a Slinky. A Slinky is the stupidest toy in the world. RICK: A barrel of monkeys. We had army men. Yeah, all the same stuff we had too. And then we had cool stuff like this. How much did you pay for that? CHUMLEE: $300. RICK: Put it up for sale. - After we try it out. - It's merchandise. It's not a toy. You're not trying it out. - Dude. It has the original goo in it. Hell yeah I am. - Chum. Go put it in the office so they can put it out for sale. I'm sure you'll find another way to make a mess. You always do.
