Can I help you? Yeah. I have a signed
picture of Cy Young. [ORGAN MUSIC] This looks like a
pretty old picture of him. Looks like Cy Old to me. JOE: I have a signed
photo of Cy Young that I'm looking to sell today. I found my Cy Young photo
at an estate sale rummaging through some boxes of
sports memorabilia. The condition of the photo
looks pretty good for its age. I'm looking to get
$3,000 for the photo. CHUMLEE: This is a good find. Cy Young is probably one
of the most recognizable names from baseball. I mean, the Cy Young
Award was named after him. It's given to the best
pitcher every year. Cy Young wasn't
his name, actually. He came into baseball, and they
gave him the nickname Cyclone because he threw the
ball so fast that they said he was throwing a cyclone. And then they
shortened it up to Cy. Cy Young ended his
career with 511 wins, and he actually holds the record
for most wins by a pitcher. It's so far ahead of the pack. I don't think anyone will
ever catch up to them. I mean, he pitched
for over 20 years. This is just a picture, right? It's not a card. Yeah, it looks
like it's a picture. It might have been cut out at
the seam of a paperback book it looks like. OK. Oh, I see some
creasing in it, yeah. It's pretty cool, though. I mean, I don't know how
much an autographed picture is collectible compared to, say,
like a card or a baseball bat. But it's good that you got it
authenticated because it lets me know the signature is real. In general, anything Cy Young
is probably highly collectible and not hard to sell. Great. That's great news. What are you looking
to do with this? Looking to sell and see-- get as much as I can for it. How much do you want for it? I'm looking to
get $3,000 for it. OK, that's a lot of money,
so for that kind of money, I'm going to need someone to
come in and take a look at it. This isn't an older Cy Young. It looks to me like
after he was retired. He's wearing a Cleveland
Indians jersey, which I believe they were the
Cleveland Spiders when he actually played for him. So I think when people
collect Cy Young stuff, they would prefer to have
young Cy Young in a jersey that he actually
played for the team. So I just need someone to come
down and take a look at it and give me their
thoughts on it. Sure. All right, give
me a couple minutes. I'm going to get
someone down here. JOE: Sure. I'm very confident that
an expert will look at it and reveal that it
is worth the value that I say it is or
very close to it. So I have a Cy Young
autograph right here, and it's authenticated,
which is great, but I don't know, you know, the
value of something like this. I mean, it's Cy Young. DAN WULKAN: Sure. I imagine everything
is collectible. No, absolutely. No, he's a legend. To this day, he
still holds the most games played, started, innings. He's pitched over 7,500 innings. He was inducted into the
Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937, one of
the first Baseball Hall of Fame inductees. So he really set a lot
of records and things that pitchers can't
touch these days. So can I take a look at it? Please. DAN WULKAN: I
mean, the autograph looks really clean compared to
autographs that are out there. You can perfectly
see the signature. It is a real old photo of him,
so this image was probably in the newspaper because it
seems to be matted, you know, on top of this board. So as far as the picture is
concerned, the Indians uniform, he played for the
Cleveland Spiders. He played for the
Cleveland Naps. So it's probably going
back to Cleveland for an old timers' game. The only thing is that items are
more desirable when they have, like, a more present
or playing-day photo. And as far as the signature,
it's definitely a signature he signed after his career. The value is a lot higher when
it's signed during his career. What kind of value
do you think it has? You know, just
a piece of paper signed by him, not
a photo, you know, you're looking at about $1,000
just for a piece of paper. For this, there aren't tons
of photos out there of him. So with that being said, I'd
give a retail value of $2,500. OK. Thanks for coming out.
I appreciate it. DAN WULKAN: You got it.
Absolutely. Thank you very much. You got it. Not quite what
you were asking for. Not quite what I'm looking
for but pretty close. I'm going to have
to offer you less if you're interested in
selling it because, you know, I'll be looking to get
that $2,500 mark out of it. Would you take $1,500 for it? That's cash money right now. $2,000? How about $1,600? $1,800? CHUMLEE: You know what? It's Cy Young. I don't think it'll
take too long to sell. I could do $1,800. Thank you. Let's go write it up. I think I'm going
to take the $1,800 and perhaps maybe
come across some more vintage baseball treasure.
