Paula Deen's Family Kitchen Review and Exploring The Island in Pigeon Forge

good morning everybody and welcome to Yankee in the south today we're here at the island in Pigeon Forge and we're gonna have breakfast at paula deen's right Don's excited metal and a lot of folks ask us about Paula Deen's and what was all about well we're gonna try it out right okay let's go do this [Music] [Applause] [Music] the very rainy day here in Pigeon Forge been raining all night it's supposed to rain all day [Music] mistletoe kisses and Christmas wishes huh oh yeah that's cool I like the trucks with the Christmas tree altar your salt and pepper shakers you see that cool little Volkswagen with the tree on top it's a shifter you want it [Music] so you like the lemon setup here huh some reason I really like this purple set here padeen has her own pottery mugs you see that and then over here you can get yourself a t-shirt now breakfast is gonna go you choose three for the table of these items then you choose one of the meats and then you choose two of the breakfast trees I guess this gets been gravy miss Nikki breakfast treat okay we're riding the escalator up to the dining room at Paula Deen's here okay so breakfast is $14.99 a person II here's the lunch menu and lunch is 1699 a person so there's the view of the island down below and there's dawn right so you're gonna try this out right here either okay so we got a little glass of orange juice right I got a diet coke dawn got diet coke - right and the syrup here is actually hot and then we got these two little cinnamon rolls right you ready to try them seven rolls out you're gonna try that out cinnamon rolls okay we'll try one out with their light that's not it's really good all right the frosting that came on the cinnamon rolls are awesome they're like notes in your mouth dawn killed the cinnamon rolls did yeah so our breakfast came out we have our potatoes our chicken and biscuits and this here is a what was this again there's a casserole and then that's the breakfast casserole and that's the our bacon and then the French toast what do you think about this again okay let's do this okay so I fixed my plate and this is what it looks like they brought out a second one so we don't run out huh good huh and that's all you can eat so once you finish you can go back for a second now that Applewood bacon I just tried it and it melts in your mouth it was awesome how does this world and the breakfast casserole this is a breakfast casserole it's a bit too it's all been real good I haven't because anything here that I haven't had they're gonna bring us out round two right but you're full already right totally we order we ordered we ordered the bacon because the bacon we found out is the best and the breakfast casserole right what are you doing hanging out with Paula Deen these guys got the same color shirt going on there [Music] we got the chicken and biscuits which was okay then we got the apple cinnamon french toast which to me was more like a dessert then we had the everyday breakfast casserole which was really really good then we ordered the black pepper bacon and that there was out of this world melt in your mouth awesome but then we ordered our second round they accidentally brought out the applewood-smoked centered cut bacon and this here was so sugary actually was overpowering it actually turned into like a candy the down here we had the creamy hash brown casserole which was really super good when we went to order at a second time they said they were out and then we had country fried potatoes which pretty much was sliced potatoes oh it's raining okay yes we're gonna run for some covering but we're gonna try to do a little tour around the island here see if there's anything new which probably not but it's just pouring rain but here at old smokey moonshine right [Applause] and then they got all this shine over here right this one here is punch punch right and then here's like your classic moonshine of course they got the cherry get pickles moonshine or pickled moonshine right so what happens when you drink that you get pickled right thank you a little bit more than just pickled [Music] okay so the smell of moonshine is like real strong because they're making it right here as we speak you can smell that Wow Don's take it in see Don's already gettin kind of you just by walking around breathing the air [Music] so now it's review time what did you think about Paula Deen's yes it was good it was good I think it's better than the reviews that I've been reading about it they do have some really good dishes black pepper bacon the bacon like melt in your mouth it was amazing really was but then they brought out the second rounds and they brought out the wrong bacon and that bacon was it was like a Shh it was like sugar look at candy I mean I'd like just as much sugar is like a you know it's dollywood bread right yes it's like that so what else you think about it and our server was really really good yeah yeah everything was great um so would you do it again I don't know maybe okay so she's give it a maybe yes I would do it again um but I think I want to try like maybe lunch or dinner but breakfast you know it's good but I would say you know there's other places in town too that are really good too so it's kind of hard to sit there and say oh that's the best because we've had good stuff in this town have only [Music] let's go into Emery's 5 & 10 here I actually had one these when I was a kid I used to stick my finger in the little fishes mouth and he'd bite down on you you know how to work that thing [Laughter] come on dawn before computers we had color forms and you can get the original color forms here 1972 that's cool I have one of these record players when I was little they got a lot of really cool old-school twice here you got to have an astro ray right I mean you got to have one another blast from the past latch kits those were mainstream like nineteen seventy eight or nine right I had one of these -
