m my dear brothers and sisters in islam i wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude my gratitude for the support that many of you have been very consistent and given me and my family through the course of my trials and my tribulations and the whole duration of my incarceration actually from the very moment i accepted this blessed dean of islam the prophet sallallahu alaihi was telling me said that the one that hasn't thanked the people who's not thanking the law so i thank you and i pray that allah subpanel with the isla accept this from me today i want to talk about patience patience and i want to talk about gratitude this is the reminder that should be consistent amongst the muslims and it also applies to the non-muslims as well because understanding patience and understanding the benefit that comes with being patient only leads one to having the endurance to deal with the trials and tribulations and the tests that allah azzawajal places upon his servants whether they believe or not patience could be established in two ways it can be established either by choice or by circumstance choice meaning the moment that you endure a difficulty or hardship that you establish patience from the very beginning or you can establish patience by way of circumstances meaning you're placed in a situation where you have no choice but to be patient so i wanted to share with you basically what it took for me to endure the trial of being incarcerated and taken away from my family for almost nine years had i not been a muslim had i not been firm upon the understanding of what patience is and the benefit that follows from enduring the adversity and trial that comes patience for me definitely you know was a was it was a lesson i think it's something that we all really overlooked because of so much going on in this world today but i always held on to the statement of allah subhanahu wa with the allah when he says verily after every hardship comes ease and we all know that the statement of allah subhanallah what the hell is true so when allah says after every hardship comes ease in order to reach the point where the ease comes we have to be patient and endure what comes first and many times you know i'm a human being just like you know you are you know many times my patience was tested a lot of times you know i ran into situations where you know my patience was challenged but every time those moments occur i will always refer back to the book of allah and the and from that point i would try to implement the understanding of that which have reached me from legislation and then the problems always disappeared so patience is very important yeah especially in this day and time allah subhanahu wa at the island trial on this entire planet and when i look at some of the circumstances that revolve around this test it shows me that patience is something that is not just applicable to the muslim but is also applicable to the non-muslims as well for example i just left a place where countless amounts of individuals wish they can be home with their families or do anything to return to a place of refuge and love meaning residing with their families being incarcerated in a close proximity with a lot of individuals who shared this emotion i saw variations of how people dealt with those situations but the commonality that we shared is that we all wish we can be home we all wish we can be in the confines of our home surrounded by the people we love surrounded by the people that supported us through these trials and tribulations but then when i looked at the news when i was incarcerated i watched the news and i watched maybe the first week or two maybe even the first month of the covet 19 pandemic and how people were just falling apart how people were just falling apart actually becoming more frustrated that they had to be home with their families and i found that to be like amazing it's like subhanallah you got brothers in here who would do anything to go home anything to go home and be next to their wives their you know their loved ones their mothers their fathers their brothers their sisters their children so on and so forth and would love to be in the house they would love to be in the house but the people because of their lack of understanding of patience and the reward that follows a lot of people were falling apart a lot of relationships got tarnished because of being in close proximity with the people that you quote unquote supposed to love and i found that amazing i found that amazing that is that even possible but it shows you the wisdom behind allah when he places a trial upon the people those who are patient understand the benefits and the virtues of being patient and through that patience they anticipate they anticipate with hopefulness the reward that follows but people who do not have this understanding they quickly fall into seeking refuge or soulless in all types of alternative methods whether it be busying yourself with trades or games or whatever the case may be and when these things get old you know people resort to you know acting out their emotions so i'm saying all this to say that you know and just sharing what you like this experience was something that was all being i mean it was something that was major and without the mercy of allah subhanallah without the support of my family and my loved ones without the support of the muslims from all over the world this trial would have been something that would have been way more difficult way more burdensome and just way more horrific so i thank you i thank you in accordance to the sunnah the prophet says sallam that the one who doesn't think the people he doesn't thank allah so it's very important that you know i took this time to share that with you because it was something that was very important to me now next i want to talk about gratitude and how gratitude is synonymous with patience because when you're enduring something a lot of times we take for granted the things that we have a lot of times through the course of that trial we forget the things that are already in place that are working because of our desires to obtain something that hasn't reached us yet so we grow inpatient we engros we become frustrated anxiety sits in all these things and by the course of all that we tend to forget about the things that are in place meaning our health meaning your sight your hearing your ability to talk to walk the move all of these things you kind of put these things in the rear view because of the immense pressure and burden it comes with trial but patience and gratitude goes hand in hand so going through these trials being patient may have been the most difficult but being grateful made it easy to be patient i was grateful to have a support system in a place where many people did not i was grateful to have a loving family who consistently or steadfast in their support and their aid i was grateful to know that all of the people who follow me on social media prior to my incarceration remain steadfast in their support and they aid in assisting me and my family through the course of this trial i was grateful but most importantly i was grateful that allah subhanahu wa the other gave me a slam without islam would not have completed this sentence as a mere i would have been doing that sentence as long for those of you who may know how things were in my previous life will know that i'm telling you something that is definitely of significance but to navigate through this trial as amir junaid or haddith servant of the most merciful the most gracious the most high i was able to benefit from this trial in ways that words cannot explain so i'll share this with you so that you can reflect on what you may be going through right now in your life so that you may take a look at the things that may challenge you right now in these trying times and think about what's been placed in order for us think about what legislative proofs and evidence have been placed in order for us to be able to safeguard first and foremost our islam and then safeguard ourselves against the ills that are prevalent in this world it is not of any benefit for us to allow ourselves to be distracted or subjugated to the things that happen around us we have to keep our eyes on the prize we have to stay focused on the paradise that allah subhanahu what allah has created for the believers and this is the thing that kept me firm allah subhanahu what the isla has created a paradise for the believers that no eyes have ever seen no ears i've ever heard and no tongue has ever tasted the fruits of this paradise now my previous life i've been to a lot of parties but i've never been to the party that don't stop and that's my goal and the prophet salallahu said that you will not have faith until you love for yourself what you love for your brother or what you love for your brother what you love for yourself and this is something that i definitely want for every muslim and every non-muslim as well this path this guidance that allah subhanahu wa alah has given to his servants whether they're believers or non-believers it's something that should never be taken for granted who knows us better than our creator subhanallah if you are a patient and have taqwa nothing from their plots can harm you so from this ayat is not beneficial for us to keep pointing the finger we keep trying to find culprits for everything that's going wrong in our lives but if we take this finger and point it here we'll find that the source of correction and rectification starts with ourselves and once we rectify our own affairs then it becomes easy for us to navigate through everything else but none of it can be done without patience and none of it can be done without gratitude and being grateful that the law even chose us to be tested [Music] cat
