hey folks this is Kalani with the start of season two of dragonflight we have so many different options for gearing up and thanks to the new upgrade system almost all sources of gear can be upgraded further from their initial item level giving you way more control over how to gear up and increase your character's overall power potential but with so many options it can be hard to keep everything straight so we're going to break down every gearing option how far you can get what's worth your time investment and which sources of gear are the easiest to chase after so here's our season 2 ultimate gearing guide and how you can get up to item level 440 and Beyond now before we jump in be sure to hit up that like button and subscribe so you never miss another video to start with let's quickly go over the new upgrade system in season two because you can't really talk about how to gear up without talking about this first there are three major parts to the upgrade system the gear itself a new currency called flight stones and a new upgrade item called crests you have probably noticed this already but every piece of gear that drops from any PVE Source in the game whether it's the new Zone dungeons or Raid it will always come with a tag and an upgrade level so this piece of gear from a weekly event is item level 415 it has the champion tag and its upgrade level is one of eight that means you can upgrade this piece of gear 7 times to a Max of 808 increasing its item level and stats as you go the system is set up so that these tags actually overlap I'll have a chart on screen to better illustrate this and give you a visual so we've got Explorer Adventurer veteran Champion hero and Mythic Explorer gear ranges from item level 376 to 398 but Adventure Gear starts at item level 389 which is halfway through the Explorer track the main reason for this is to ensure that no matter which piece of gear you get from any Source it can always be upgraded a minimum of four times if gear dropped at 7 out of 8 that would mean you could only upgrade it once which definitely wouldn't be as ideal or exciting but because you enter a new upgrade path every four steps all of your gear will have some great potential to be upgraded until you get to the hero set this means that you will never actually see an item drop at five of eight upgrades that item would instead be one of eight on the next track giving you the maximum upgrade potential this also means that you do have a cap on how far you can upgrade gear depending on where you get it from so to gear up past those break points you will have to do higher tiers of content and get new pieces of gear to enter those higher upgrade brackets now the flight Stone currency is incredibly easy to obtain pretty much every activity in the game will reward you with flight Stones so whether you're doing story quests World quests completing events killing rares taking down Bossard and the new raid winning dungeons over and over again you know pretty much everything you do will drop at least some flight Stones you can only hold 2 000 flight stones at a time so if you get to that 2K cap maybe a look at upgrading some of your gear and then the last thing we need are the crests there are four types of crests you can obtain and the higher item level gear you are trying to upgrade the higher tier of Crest you will need to get more often than not you will get fragments while doing various kinds of content which combine together to form the actual crests 15 fragments equals one Crest and you can only get 150 fragments of each Crest type per week which means you are limited to 10 crests of each type per week as well for the most part now this cap is cumulative so if you swap character later on or want to work on an ALT your cap will be quite High indeed to see how many fragments you can currently earn just hover over the fragment type in your inventory and it will tell you how close you are to your current limit so while playing crests come from World quests Treasures rares Mythic plus Keys between 2 and 5 and killing bosses in the raid on LFR mode Drake crests are going to come from weekly events weekly quests rare Elites firework assaults Mythic plus Keys between 6 and 10 and killing bosses in the raid are normal both whelpling and Drake crests can also be purchased from spin sewer in loan for Unearthed fragrant coins you can get these coins by completing world events in the Zara Lake Cavern worm crests are going to come from doing Mythic plus Keys between 11 and 15 and killing bosses in aberus on heroic mode and then the highest tier of crests are called aspect crests which only come from doing Mythic plus 16 keys or higher and killing bosses in the new raid on Mythic difficulty now there is a lot to process but the great thing is you do not have to remember all of this to see what you need to upgrade and where you can get those items just take your gear to any upgrade vendor slap the gear in that you want to upgrade select whichever upgrade level you want and it will tell you exactly what you need how many flight stones and which kinds of crests if you then hover over each Crest it also tells you where you can get that specific one I would only select 8 of 8 on the upgrade option to see what it would take to fully upgrade that piece of gear what item level it can go up to and whether you think it's worthwhile if you get to 80 Vape upgrades you will need to earn a higher item level piece of gear from taking part in harder content to upgrade that gear slot further one amazing part of this system is that it actually has a catch up baked into it it will track the highest item level piece of gear you have for each slot and if you're upgrading an item that is below that highest item level you will get a massive discount on both flight stones and crashed costs so if you get a better item either due to Stats or special effects but it's a lower item level when compared to your current gear upgrading it should actually be very quick easy and cheap these discounts also apply to your alts as well so gearing up all through the upgrade system is gonna be a breeze as a quick note this upgrade system does not interact with PVP at all so the PVP gearing options still use on or on Conquest as they did during season 1. so now that we understand how to upgrade gear in season 2 let's check out some of the gearing options that every kind of player will have access to in season 2. to start with progressing through the story quests will give you a lot of low Explorer gear around the 370 to 390 Mark so if you're brand new to the game or trying to gear up a fresh level 70 these could be a half decent way of getting some quick gear especially if you're going to go through the story quests anyway after that you'll gain access to World quests these will also offer Explorer gear around the 380 item level Mark so pretty low in the grand scheme of things but if you need to fill in some gaps always check your world quests you never know when you'll see the perfect item to fill your last lower item level Slot World quests are also a great source of other items you might be interested in like reputation flight stones and crests there are also plenty of rares to kill in zaralec Cavern rares are going to serve two purposes they can drop gear on the Explorer track or the adventurer track which gives you an upgrade potential of item level 411 which isn't too bad but they can also drop Drake Crest fragments to fuel some of your upgrading needs so hunt down any res you see while out and about in Zara like Cavern the new weekly event in Zara Lake cabin is a bit weird but it might end up being worth your time right in the middle of the zone you should see a horn for researchers Under Fire this event is on a timer and it tells you how long is left until the next event starts the event mainly consists of running around the immediate area and completing short tasks the more tasks you complete the better your end reward will be the highest tier of rewards seems to include a piece of gear at or above item level 405 in the veteran track you can only get the big reward once per week by the looks of things so another weekly activity to add to your list the new Sniff and seeking minigame also seems to be able to reward you with some halfway decent loot I got an item level 402 pieces of gear from one of the digs but seeing as the activity relies on you having dig Maps it's not the most reliable in the world but if you do have a dig map maybe go for a little sniff and seeking to see Get Lucky with the gear the new weekly Quest over him loan to earn reputation with the nif and is also a great source of gear it's called a worthy Ally and rewards you with a bag of goodies the bag contains some gold a nice chunk of flight Stones a last dig map for the Sniff and seeking game as well as a piece of item level 402 gear this gear is one of eight veterans so it has some good upgrade potential this weekly Quest is also one of your sources for the splintered Sparks but we'll talk more about that when we get to professions and then there are also the new farak assaults there are some opportunities here to earn a variety of lower end item level gear but what I'm most interested in is the weekly reward the first time you kill the mini boss in the furic assault you will get up to item level 415 gear which is also a one of eight Champion piece giving you a lot of upgrade potential you can easily find the farak assault on the world map and you just need to stick around until the energy bar at the top gets to 100 and the mini boss should spawn pretty soon after that kill him and loot him and that's all you have to do there is another weekly activity that you may have missed but can give you some huge gearing opportunities in val Dragon there's a building with yet another weekly Quest but this one is for five heroic dungeons if you complete five heroic dungeons you get a random piece of animal 415 gear or you can get a drake Crest so that's going to depend on which item you would benefit most from but being able to get a one of a champion item just for doing five heroic dungeons is actually pretty crazy you'd be able to upgrade that item all the way to 437 giving you some very easy to acquire Gear with huge upgrade potential I am aware that this asks you to do dungeons and that's not really a solo player thing but you can queue into heroic Dungeons and they are very easy so this isn't accessible enough that everyone can get it done and then there's also a new world boss down in zerolette Cavern the zakali elders you can kill them once per week for a chance of Loot and they drop item level 421 gear at 3 of 8 Champion so you can upgrade that on the Champion track to boost your item level with it being so quick and easy I would definitely kill the world boss on any character you're wanting to try and gear up the old world bosses are still available in the dragon Isles they drop item level 395 gear which could be good for lower geared players but they also drop a bag with flight stones and crests so that might be worth your time as well and that's pretty much it for the Outdoor World content inside of things but another very powerful gearing Avenue that everyone has access to is crafted gear crafting gear Works in pretty much the exact same way as it did in season one there are two levels to this the lower tier of crafted gear and the higher tier of crafted gear from the lower tier you can very easily and quickly craft item level 395 or even item level 408 gear both of these options rely on enchanting because there are two new item level increasing options that enchanters can craft a Titan training Matrix 5 and an enchanted well-plane Crest both of these items work in the same way you can craft the lower to your crafted gear which is usually the blue recipes that start around item level 330 and then use the optional upgrade item to increase its item level so a Titan training Matrix 5 can take that up to item level 395 and then the enchanted whirlpooling Shadow flame Crest can take that up to item level 408 the Titan training Matrix 5 costs 10 chromatic dust one vibrant Shard and one empowered flight Stone to create the enchanting materials are super cheap but the empowered flight Stone can only be purchased from an enchanting vendor for 150 flight Stones The Enchanted whirlpooling shadowflame Crest requires 30 dust five shards and one resonant Crystal the crystal can be a bit more expensive but shouldn't be too bad this far into the expansion and then you also need one whelpling Shadow flame Crest seeing as both of these items are crafted by enchanters you'll either need the enchanting profession know an enchanter or just create public work orders to get these items crafted if you haven't really done much with professions I would actually encourage you to pick up enchanting for this patch partly so you can craft your own Enchanted crests and partly so you can disenchant old gear for easier and cheaper materials so essentially if you break this down you can turn 150 flight stones into an item level 395 piece of gear of your choice or you can turn one whelpling Crest into an item level 408 piece of gear of your choice that's actually insane value when you consider how easy flight stones and whirlpooling crests are to get this might be one of the easiest and fastest ways to quickly gear up to item or 408 for any new characters or fresh alts it definitely helped me get my Avoca caught up in record speed now for the higher tier of crafted gear you can craft much higher item level gear and upgrade it even further providing you have a few key materials the first one is a new spark the spark of Shadow flame this is the main required ingredient and it's also going to serve as our time gate here we can only craft High item level gear as quickly as we can earn Shadow flame Sparks there's only one way to get a spark by collecting and combining two splintered Sparks you can get a splintered spark once per week from completing either a niffen weekly Quest a worthy Ally in loam or by completing one of the weekly PVP quests in val draken whichever you complete first you will get a splinter in your reward bag so after two weeks of quests you can then combine two splinters together to form a spark that means we can only get one spark every two weeks so it is a bit slower but it will definitely pay off in the long run as a quick note here there is a one-time quest in loan that rewards you with an extra Splinter for the first time you get a splinter so you can actually make a spark with just one weekly Quest completed so be sure to pick up that Quest before you do your weeklies and then there is also a capture mechanic available here if you ever get behind in Sparks or splinters they will have a chance to drop from any end game activity until you are caught up so it doesn't matter if you start the season late or swap characters later on you can always catch up with your Sparks to craft a piece of gear all you need to do is get a spark and collect the required crafting materials back in season one we also had to collect Primal chaos but that has been removed making it much easier to take advantage of any Sparks that you do have if you don't have the profession yourself you'll need to set up a crafting order in val draken so collect all of your materials for the piece of gear you want crafted slot in your spark set a minimum rank if you're sending a personal or Guild order and hope there's someone available to craft it the Baseline spark gear starts on item level 411 if you get it crafted at rank 1 but it can go all the way up to item level 424 if you get an experienced crafter to make it at rank 5. so you can craft a new piece of 424 gear every two weeks which can help you gear up super easily you can also upgrade this crafted gear up to item level 447 to do so you're going to need a different set of Enchanted crests the enchanted worm Shadow flame Crest can upgrade your crafted gear to 337 but that one requires you to get a drakatheist as well as three worm Shadow flame crests and then the enchanted aspects Crest can upgrade your crafted gear to item level 447 but it does require four aspect crests which are the hardest ones to obtain so if you are running those higher Mythic plus keys or doing the raid on higher difficulties not only will you be getting better gear drops and flight stones and crests to upgrade that gear but you can also use crests to upgrade any Shadow flame crafted gear you decide to craft as well so you can double or even triple dip on some types of content here which will make gearing up much smoother and faster overall now if you're going all in on crafted gear remember that you can have up to two embellishments on your gear at a time these provide you with a wide variety of bonuses but you should try and get your two best embellishments for the extra power potential I would check with your class page on Wowhead to see what embellishments are suggested they usually change from spec to spec in class to class so that's another way to increase the power of your character through crafted gear and remember that all crafted gear can have its stats chosen by adding a missive to your craft or crafting order so you can pick and choose your perfect stat setup to make crafted gear way more powerful than random loot drops at the same item level now moving on season 2 also introduces a new raid aboris the shadowed Crucible as per usual The Raid can offer you some of the best gearing options available especially with the new upgrade system in play the gear rewards also scale higher and higher as you progress through the raid and kill the harder bosses towards the end so LFR starts dropping item level 402 or one of eight veteran gear from the first boss and the end boss drops item level 4 11 or 4 of 8 veteran gear on normal mode you're looking at eisenbola 415 or one of eight Champion gear from the first boss that scales up to item level 424 or 4 of 8 Champion gear from the last boss on heroic mode the first boss dropped item level 428 gear which is one of five hero gear Hero game has more restrictive upgrade pass and that scales up to item level 437 from the last boss and Mythic radel is 441 at the start of the raid scaling up to item level 450 from the last boss in the raid Mythic gear cannot be upgraded at all so that's the best of the best stuff this season the new raid is also the only place that the new season 2 tier set tokens can drop reliably so if you want to rush your 4 set bonus you're gonna have to be hopping into the raid the last boss also drops a special item called the void touched curio this can be turned into a vendor for any tierpiece of your choice on the difficulty you killed the boss so that will help you fill in any gaps one of these items drops for every 10 players in the range from the looks of things so a full rated 30 people will get three of these items which are also bonus loot so it's completely separate from the loot that gets rolled out honestly if you're raiding this season getting your set bonus should be incredibly quick and then of course we also have the weekly Vault for the raid row you'll need to kill three bosses 5 bosses and seven bosses in the new raid to unlock your first second and third reward option The Vault will give you a piece of gear from the highest difficulty you killed the bosses on so if you kill three heroic bosses you'll have a random piece of heroic loot waiting for you on reset day an extra chant at those best install items is always nice moving on to the dungeons everything is so much more rewarding now that we're in season two normal dungeons drop item level 382 GM heroic dungeons drop item level 389 gear and Mythic dungeons drop item level 398 gear so even doing those cued or basic Mythic dungeons can be very rewarding and of course all of this gear can be upgraded but Mythic plus is whether Awards really start to shine running a plus two key will bump up your award to item level 402 and that's in the chest at the end of the run it only goes up from there plus tens will drop item level 415 gear which is the start of that Champion track plus 17 start to drop item level 428 gear which is the start of the hero track and it goes up a little bit past that so if you can run plus 17s you can get one of five hero gear which can be upgraded all the way to item level 441 that's some amazing gearing potential for Mythic plus dungeons when you consider you can run these all day every day as you progress through the Keystone levels you will also get higher tiers of fragments and crests remember that Keys two to five drop wellpling crests Keys 6 to 10 drop Drake crests Keys 11 to 15 are gotta drop the worm crests and then 16 plus will drop aspect crests so pushing Mythic plus will be very valuable this season for all kinds of gear upgrades now I have said this a few times already but Mythic plus dungeons are actually quite a bit easier in this season when compared to almost any other season we've seen there's no seasonal affix to learn and the affixes appear much later than they previously did the first new affix appears at Key level 7 so you don't have anything new to really worry about for Keys two to six the second affects doesn't appear until Keen level 14 so it's just much easier in general with less to learn and less to worry about especially in those Lower Keys so I would recommend you give it a shot there is no better time to hop in some keys and see if it's something you can get into with the upgrade system in play Mythic plus dungeons are also incredibly valuable so there are plenty of rewards to look forward to completing Mythic plus dungeons will also populate your dungeon Row for the weekly vault which is usually one of the best sources of high item level gear especially when compared to the difficulty of content required the higher the Mythic plus Keystone you complete the better the loot that will be waiting for you on reset day for season 2 completing a plus 2 key will give you an item level 4 15 piece of gear in the vault and that will scale all the way up to the maximum reward of 447 which is available for players who complete plus 20 Keys during the week so no matter what kind of content you're taking part in the weekly vault is once again going to be an amazing source for huge upgrades you should try and run at least one key a week to make sure you have at least one reward in the weekly Vault waiting for you on reset day something else you will want to consider eventually is the weekly token reward just in case you don't actually want any of the great Vault items if you take the tokens you can spend them at the nearby NPC for flight Stones Drake Shadow flame crests worm Shadow flame crests a Chester gold or a new season 2 socket item so you can get some extra upgrade crests or work on your sockets again and then of course we have updated rewards for PVP as well PVP is the only major end game gearing path that does not tie into the new upgrade system so they're off on the side doing their own thing you can Farm honor and buy the unranked gear that starter Adam model 366 and can be upgraded up to ISO level 392 and then you can also hop into rated to earn Conquest to buy the rated PVP gear that's going to start at item number 408 and can be upgraded further using honor remember that PVP gear still has the higher item level when you're in PvP combat or instances and upgrading most PVP gear only increases its PVE item level not its PVP item level so being its own thing kind of makes sense an interesting addition for the season are the new crests of honor and Conquest you can buy these from the honor and Conquest quartermaster and they can be added into crafted gear to give it the same PVP item level boost while in PvP content so you can also craft season 2 PVP gear which can be useful for filling specific slots and then the last important gearing option we have in season 2 is a new achievement that guarantees you a piece of tear gear if you complete the season 2 Master achievement you'll be given the draconic mark of Mastery that can be turned into any piece of tear gear around the heroic raid item level to complete this achievement you need to get a Mythic plus score of 2000 or above clear the raid on heroic or earn the rank of Challenger 2 in rated PVP so whether you do raids dungeons or PVP there's one piece of guaranteed Tier gear for you to strive towards later on in the season on June 13th the Revival Catalyst will fire up once again and you'll be able to create your own tier set gear at that point we're not too sure about all the details just yet but you should be able to turn any Mythic plus raid or PVP gear into tier set gear using the Catalyst at the very least we do know that there will not be a weekly Quest this time the charges will just be given to us every week there is also no currency tied to the catalyst so every week you'll be able to turn a piece of gear into tset gear so after the Catalyst comes up again getting your tier set bonuses will be incredibly easy indeed but that should cover everything you could ever want to know about how to get gear in season two so that's it for our season 2 ultimate gearing guide how are you going to Gear Up in season 2 will you be trying out some Mythic plus dungeons now that they're easier with less affixes or maybe dip your toes into the new raid leave all
