PA to UT Travel Adventure in The Clapper Camper w/ @jennifersugint - NNKH

yo guys and welcome back to the channel and this one we're gonna rewind the clock to October 2021 when me and Jen take the RAM and The Clapper truck camper on a three-week trip out to Moab now we're not driving a junky vehicle it's going to need a bunch of works that's why I put it on the second Channel but uh there's a ton of incredible scenery throughout this and a beginning might be a little bit boring but then things get more interesting and there's there's some fun stuff so hopefully you enjoy it and without further Ado let's jump into it this is going to be a video log of me and Jen's trip out west in the 1960s Clapper camper that we just fixed up bringing the M101 A2 military trailer with the 86 XL 600R some bicycles and you know it's just nice having this for a long trip because we could throw a bunch of junk in there and this handle's off-road real good and hopefully there'll be some exciting stuff to show you here we go thank you Cincinnati what else Kentucky the Ohio River a little update that we checked into Louisville North Campground and it's just this cute little Campground but it's got you can hear the highway there's planes going over it and there's actually train tracks right behind us when a freight train goes by it's like rocks the camper almost so we took the bike out in town last night hit a couple places uh like with Third Street Dive got some pizza Spinelli's and uh yeah here is let's see what Jen's doing there she is and made some some coffee getting a late start today and I guess we I didn't show you guys the camper in this video so here's the quick tour you know three-way fridge or electrical utilities the sleeping area and and cute couch lets you recovered in uh storage pretty basic in here got your stove top and oven sink more storage and then this is the bathroom but she uses it for clothing storage too and then we just are using this if you got to go number two and this is the trash can so you know real compact in here but uh yeah we're getting ready to hit the road yeah that's that building right there hold it nice coffee Newville North Campground there's I had her stand on it turns out these Jacks flip over they turn into a nice little clamp for stalling stuff yeah because this little plastic brace broke it fell out so 4x4 is much nicer and this strut is just so you don't have to bottom out the suspension when you're tighten down these straps and then you end up with a nice sturdy Spike on there if I go off road with the trip so the wall top compressor works pretty good filling up the trailer tires a little bit they were down to 25 and gonna check the bike too and second fill up 442 corrected miles we did 14 .26 today this place is Bomb they've been got a volley bar outside love it third night we ended up just crashing in this parking lot of the TA in Oak Grove Missouri got an early start today 7 30 a.m how'd you sleep good give me a kiss glue me out today but we're gonna be driving into the nice weather I believe and here's the town of Oak Grove where Route 40 used to run through Oak Grove why do I keep saying like that that guy's video rubbed off the Old National Road here we are down in Oak Grove where the Old National Road passed through never enough because cops we're off to see the wizard the wonderful Wizard of Oz to go to The Wizard of Oz museum we're on the 75th Division U.S Army Highway so we're just outside of Topeka Kansas on some back roads heading to the Oz museum and well look at this we got a flat tire so probably just be able to shove a plug in that and fill it up it doesn't seem like a major leak luckily I had to have this little tire pressure monitor so that alerted me let me no because otherwise I honestly didn't feel that who's still driving straight As narrow but luckily we'll be able to save that tire and not get a blown out sidewall found the leak it's the uh cracked valve stem instead of putting Sparrow up her up and I just call a local tire store 10 bucks to throw a new valve stem and can't beat that it's uh not anywhere near here but yeah we'll get there what what happened what happened what happened my glasses just blew off foreign [Music] all right where'd you go the wieners the winners wieners how do you say it wieners so cute in there we're insane okay there is the Oz museum that Zen wanted to see so bad Toto come on in we're open Yellow Brick Road look look what oh look at that the yellow brick road is perfect I forget that song I think that's all it is cheers to Kansas [Music] lots and lots of bees honeybees you are scared of them you're usually so scared of bees bird they were laughing this guy just pulled off to the gas station Mr lawnmower's got I think a cracked fuel tank because he just rolled out of here a pouring fuel out we're taking we're toads from here on out until Denver you know and tags like an extra hour and change onto the trip but this is actually the road to Oz Highway which makes Jen very excited is the town of Waterville I tried the Texas quaint and cute it's a hurry because hi how's it going it was so awkward at first I I believe you can hear you could hear a pin drop in there oh there's this alone look at that [Music] did I really come this way you really did [Music] um you'll be all right I got you got Dory the Explorer over here uh so would you what do you think uh our Sunset RV Park this Campground seems a little cuter it's 15 a night which is so reasonable and I got the self-check in love that up drop it in the cute little box and look at this this thing's made in Danville Pennsylvania Danville stove and Manufacturing Company very cool cast iron what do you say you ready to hit the road yes I've been ready [Music] like uh mini loves unlike the big truck stops small town loves [Applause] and Jen's over at this Dollar Tree here what's she looking for we got milk chocolate milk and Red Bull it's coming toward us bad all right drive no there's a bunch of them yeah look at them yeah it's awesome well dust dust tornadoes clouds wait for them to come closer our camper is getting so covered in bugs look at this thing filthy yeah it cleaned this up later on what do you think exciting this is Atwood RV Park I love how all these towns have little Municipal RV parks it's awesome this is dangerous for tall people a little rusty out on her very nice even though they still had Radio Shacks look at that [Applause] what are we doing now Albert City we're going to start hello how are you need a question I have a question or anything let me know thank you all right what a cute story you got here thank you he goes on forever back there we even got a man cave doctor all right sweet now you got five minutes she gets lost in these stores this is way better than our thrift stores back home tell the camera trying to find some decor for September mm-hmm we could use a vacuum cleaner for the camper what do you think we have a vacuum cleaner not a full size though we got some cute old ones here these are like the good ones reminds me of that movie with uh the vacuum cleaner in it what was that called a little toaster The Brave Little coaster it's funny we're in Kansas and I want a Kansas license plate but they probably don't have those here oh you found some license plates yeah that's where I got all this one my wall oh New Mexico ones are cool looking heck yeah those are fun I'm still looking cute you just crossed into Colorado what's that mean we just gained an hour Mountain Time Zone Denver here we come Rolling Hills no so not flat but that's it oh that's some good soil baby check this out these solar panels these have been doing so good on the trip we got two 100 watt solar panels so that the three-way refrigerator we got to do a latch on this I'm kind of just been uh putting a bungee cord there now this thing works is if you don't know a three-way works is it has a little flame back there or a heating element so you can run DC heating element AC heating element or use propane to heat it up and it Heats uh AMU yup and and that's how it cools but so check this out right now our solar panels are pulling in we're we're pretty far through the day but only about 4.2 amps and let's see what we're drawing is pulling 6.12 amps and we're pulling in 4.2 from the Sun but it is past five o'clock now so that's I'm gonna switch this over to propane now but I know it's it's a wreck in here I have to reorganize and I brought all this spare wire for stuff and the wiring is not even close to completed in this camper at all it's just a absolute wreck but nothing is a safety yet cover it up [Music] I know if you're Sinclair Jen's first time to a dispensary oh yeah Essentials Mia's yes got some some buds and dirt Bud we got the cheapest stuff you could get seven bucks a gram Amazon Locker City got our Amazon goods from the city time we shouldn't order it to a city because I had to drop Jen off and then like a scared little puppy dog we got our propane extension hose so we can fill up the propane tank and a NOCO genius 10 amp charger for charging the battery when we're plugged into store power oh yeah [Music] all right it's like hey they got no parking signs in front of it now and then they got it's a whole freaking shanty town in front of the place now look at it man is is this place changed it's about a mile high old Cummins 12 valve got it done today it's been parked the trailer in front but we gotta visit the bar bar it's got no name besides bar [Music] [Music] it was a sippy murder Revival they go find it Spotify iTunes titled shazamy Moore I was talking smack on the shanty town and then I realized we're part of it oh well we had a pretty late night last night and ended up just crashing out of Walmart parking lot but too fancy Jen was kind of mad that we came all the way to Colorado beautiful Colorado just to sleep in a Walmart but uh yeah we're on the way to go do some fun stuff today and find a nice Campground Clear Skies today too I don't see any snow on the Foothills or any of the big Peaks either so these gonna be chilly in the mountains though [Music] thank you [Applause] [Music] [Music] she's so cute foreign [Applause] [Music] we got a Mayo explosion so oh my gosh it blew up in the fridge yeah oh man well yeah let's start relieving the pressure everything foreign devil there's one more piece I want to get back there are you kidding we're staying here one night we got enough wood baby yeah yeah boarding it it's a Friday it's beautiful plenty of other people camping around too in this uh these dispersed campsites along this four-wheel drive Road oh my God so I took this Trail up another three miles and I heard there's an old ghost town at the end of it but we don't have any maps with us so it's just word of mouth but I gotta turn back now because I told Jen I'd be back in 20 minutes but maybe tomorrow maybe I'll go to the end of this tomorrow thank you this right here means the world to me making my mama spaghetti salad that she always used to bring camping with us I'm making it out here in the middle of Colorado Wilderness there's nothing like it [Music] [Music] hey next morning about to cook up some ham and eggs I got some snow up on the mountain last night we're at around 10 000 feet and those those are probably like 14 000 foot Peaks there Mr Coffee what you building shower tent these Rocky Mountains will get you every time morning stuff so I'm gonna give it another scab going up this Trail trying to find uh what's at the end of it all right five miles now it's starting to be a little snow on a trail but still smooth sailing it's pretty much the end of the road goes into this Valley and definitely no Trails out maybe right there but it's uh that's a hiking trail a little old building right here seems pretty cool it's got Steel nailed in between just over top it I guess that used to be steel siding a couple little Cuts in here had you walking out seeing this view in the morning it's a really neat time of the year to be up here because it don't you don't have the snowpack yet but look at this fresh snow we got last night and it's I'm gonna say the high is probably gonna be maybe 60 today it's probably in like the 50s right now but really nice temperature with this sun thank you [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] foreign [Applause] how was your shower experience terrible my fingers are still numb I had to come in here and boil water and finish soapy head and face because it sounds like fun Jen found these real nice Timberland boots for 12.50 at a thrift and I mean they're like like brand new but then she wore them yesterday and uh look at this they're falling apart beyond belief so that's unfortunate but maybe I'll bring these over to a Timberland store maybe they can warranty them out though because look at look how that's just crumbling I think I'm barely pressing on that the other one yeah same deal it's rubbers these must be like 30 years old or something I just never used good thing came down off the mountain got some more precipitation moving in and it's snowing down here now so we're gonna pack up and hit the road probably bring some of this firewood with us look at that can't even see the mountains anymore that's all that happened within like a few minutes too just blew right in she's getting belted all right hold on I got it oh I know I got it it's good coming through the town of fair play [Music] due to the inclement weather and all this snowing right we decided to book a hotel for tonight about an hour and a half down the road and now we're hopefully had some hot springs too foreign [Music] [Music] how's she doing how's the Clapper holding up she's clapping along claps how was Houston it was great getting ready to hit the road Jen is uh we're hoarding some water out of here how's the smell yeah gross what's it smell like it smells like sewage Palm Springs water has gone back into the river it's a bunch of algae growth there that was so fun did you love that as much as I did I loved it even though it was like kind of touristy Iron Mountain Hot Springs is definitely a legit spot we met some some cool people had some good conversations now we're gonna head on down the road and hopefully find some natural hot springs in another remote camping spot foreign hot spring this is uh Penny Springs above the highway smells like sulfur a little bit different from the other place huh so the water coming into these poles it's like 140 150 and then they mix it together I mean the water in the river is like 50 probably but he mix it together just right and it's good better than the hot spice it's different an old 12 valve with 200 plus k on it On My Guitar can't beat him Simplicity reliability at its finest a dead 86 XL 600R Booyah Honda radial four valve chamber he was looking back down at the river we were just in heading up McClure Pass now this whole area we're going through is literally the land where campers go to die all over the place you're right it's gonna be in that Valley up there it looks like it's already Sundown and you right and we made it to the town of uray now we gotta find some camping such a cute little town with mountains surrounding it I'm like a 4J plus one plus one register in the morning we like to bar hop and check out cool little joints along the way love the red carpet here you can't really see it we are officially seven days into the trip now how we feeling Jennifer are you holding up okay be honest though how's the what's the true feeling of this trip so far go ahead let's go the true feeling is that I'm having the absolute best time I've ever had in my life stop it don't lie to the camera got a lie it's been awesome but we definitely fight a little bit on the road like a little bit too much potato like you're a potato potato look at this Sleeping Beauty here's the 4J plus one plus one in the daytime gorgeous mountains surrounding it on all angles and that was only 44 bucks a night so not bad you got mountains right up behind us too the Jen's doing her morning activities I'm gonna go for a quick little spin on the bike up the mountain foreign so yeah if you're ever in u-ray you take camper with mine right outside of town and uh it turns in that you take Yankee boy or Imogene pass is even crazier go over to tell you ride not with the snow up there right now but uh yeah I'm only like nine miles in and it just gets so incredible up here uh so this this road keeps going for many miles and yeah what a place to be foreign [Music] comes over the mountain so much warmer and nicer camp now took this four-wheel drive Road up pretty far and uh Jen had enough so we're gonna just cruise down slow and steady no need for any gasoline just pick a good line another second gen Dodge Ram with truck camper [Music] can't leave her on that thing I don't know if I like 12 people [Music] foreign back in the day when it was well not a road only a trail what beautiful scary made a stop so she can pick up a tumbleweed that was just rolling across the road can we watch it tumble yeah there it is it's probably not an actual tumbleweed plant but this has officially tumbled across the desert road all right let's go we gotta get to Moab you got enough where are you gonna put this you say I bring junk in this camper it's quite fleas on these we made it you would have thought we were in Utah for the last hour because the Southwest Colorado looks just like Utah but we finally made it and we made it to Moab we found some open spots over at Williams bottom Campground off the Colorado River no river access here but no nice backdrop and uh yeah I'll unload the bike go ahead some trails I don't care get in there is this where is this where we're sleeping tonight I'm gonna I don't care I want to get in though take it off then I mean no just go in it's fine I don't care about the helmet ah is that not worth a ride up there's our shadow you look at us uh that's 20 miles we rode up one way all right go ahead and Jen is a a trooper absolutely absolutely that was I mean there was someone wrote in the beginning but how was that ride it was great it was worth it oh she was shimmy shaming the whole time Canyonlands this park is absolutely incredible Canyonlands National Park there's who cares you've got to be careful everybody's gonna think I murdered you if you fall you need help this is actually harder getting to help yeah always is all right sturdy I got you if you fall okay okay I'll catch you all right all right get above about to come on your head there you go wearing my helmet just in case right Safety First yeah [Music] took little cruise into town on the bike the Woody's famous Tavern and we met up with skin like what's up man bro but he's been on almost happened to be up I'm not meet up with me and Jen so it was it was pretty cool and it's gonna be a rainy day in Moab the winds really kicked up last night and it was downpouring and super windy all last night there is the sun coming out maybe it won't be rainy all day after all foreign [Music] so we popped on over to the Goose Island Campground and uh he's all booked up but and Jen went and read the fine print on the the group sites and it turns out you don't have to be a big group and as long as it says it's available for that day so this is available for one night it's a river site so we'll see if there's a trail going in and we don't have an awning on this so it's nice we got the little canopy hopefully that sun pops back out and uh yeah foreign [Music] foreign Chris and I are about to have our first crickets salt and vinegar all right you're up you look good yeah we're not we're doing this together Ruby's made anyway it doesn't say which means they're probably from you know where it starts with a C ooh that's yours how is it probably good obviously no foreign it's good it's like a weird potato chip I don't know it's not bad salty and vinegary and like a cardboard aftertaste like you were chewing on cardboard you want left or right which one don't you want don't care they're the same I'll take this all right uh good job on finding our new site anything you'd like to say about it I was just happy to be here for another night how could we not be we basically moved down like 10 sites but it's good look at these Fork boots dry rotten apart that's just happened on this trip too and these are only like maybe two or three years old but that's what you get with the chubber Chinese rubber the Sun hits it or the elements and it just blows apart and so now these are filling up with sand inside where the fork seals are and well yeah the factory 1986 ones they lasted they were 35 years old and still had a little bit of life left and they weren't even this crack they had just like a couple little hairlines in them and that's why I replaced them when I was putting this Fork brace on but aftermarket junk wish you could still get the oh yeah OEM stuff this time we're all geared up and the sun's out let's do it let's hit some trails [Music] foreign warped Back to December one day uh I don't I think the GoPro does a decent job of capturing the scenery but it is just something to behold when when you're out there and it really takes you over so there will be a part two on this Jen might edit that one maybe even put it on her channel uh but if you guys got any feedback you know feel free to drop it down below I'm not great at making Vlogs but I do like capturing uh time history and and the way these towns look and the scenery and I just love you know recording I even if we weren't making a video for the channel I still would be recording on that trip because I love saving those memories the part two does have a lot of riding footage yeah we go and rent a krx too so if you guys think maybe I should cut some of that out let me know any feedback is greatly
