One of my favorite things ever was the use of this song in Brutal Legend.
Aside from that this song has one of the funniest metal lyrics ever...
"Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse
Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic of course "
(yeah, we knew it was a metaphor, no worries Ozzy).
Director: Here comes the guitar solo. Better cut to the drummer. Fucking brilliant.
It's such a goddamn shame that Randy Rhoads died so young
The title says Ozzy but weβre all here for Randy.
Fucking Randy Rhoads. The world lost a talent in that one.
After learning the basics of this song on guitar, it took me a while to accept that I will never be THAT good!
I'll never forget the time my English teacher in middle school let us all play one of our favorite songs on her boom box during class. Most of the kids played NSync, 98Β° or something similar and popular at the time. I burned this song along with a few other from the era onto a CD and finally got my turn to play a song. Little did she know I'd play Mr. Crowley to a bunch of 11 year olds. Looking back, I'd like to think she knew the connotations but was also an Ozzy fan....
The solos in this song are no joke. When I finally learned how to play the whole thing, it was a significant accomplishment. This is a great song to learn on guitar cause unlike a lot of other 80s metal, it's just one guitar.
I was drinking last weekend and decided that it would be a good idea to play this song on my acoustic guitar and sing along to the cats in my backyard.
They seemed to like it.
