OUR NEIGHBOR GAVE US THIS FIELD. WHY?

good morning everybody how you doing today my name's andrew i'm matt i'm lauren i'm megan my name is joel i'm grandpa i'm daniel and we're some of the veggie boys and girls and we'd like to thank you for stopping by welcome back this morning right now we're working on taking the sides off of our hay wagon the main reason for that is we have a lot of round bales that we need to pick up today and later on we're going to be wrapping them something we love about these wagons is that the sides can come off which is really helpful we use this for picking sweet corn we use this for picking pumpkins and we also use it for transporting round bales and just like that you can pop the sides off our wagon that's why you love these wagons isn't it we can use them for a lot of different things [Music] so we're really working on getting our hay in today uh funny thing every day we bail hay it's like hey it's time to rain as well we are expecting rain this afternoon so we're trying to get all of the hay wrap today which means we've got a lot of work on our hands we're trying to get everything taken care of have you ever done something that your dad told you not to do me neither but daniel did and so i have to fix this hole in the bottom of the truck and then once he's done fixing that hole he's going to get more fertilizer because not only do we need to get the hay wrap before it rains we also want to spread fertilizer before it rains so last year when we started doing round bales we only did for the cows so we did alfalfa and clover this year we're trying some grass hay for the horses [Applause] you guys saw how many square bales we did in just first cutting and we're trying to eliminate some of that extra work that we do we handle the bales once so we throw them up in the barn joel helps us throw him up in the barn he takes him down and then he stacks him in the barn back at home so he stacks them down in the horse stable by wrapping these round bales we're trying to save joel some work because he's the one that's constantly unloading and loading wagons but with the round bales he could put him in with his tractor his little baby tractors like a toy [Applause] do you want to go get the skid loader and get down there where we're going to unload them so you're there i'm not waiting that sounds like a great plan i'm gonna pull in the driveway and then you just set them off there so we can just put them right on the wrapper dad told me to come back to the skid steer loader and get going because the sad fact is this machine is not fast at all and he doesn't want to be waiting for me [Music] i just got back here and i see dad pulling in with the truck [Music] we just got our first load of bales unloaded we're just going to put them in line with the other bales and then we're going to get them set up for wrapping now we're going to spray paint an h on these because we have clover alfalfa and then the h is going to be for horses now we just need to get them all facing the right [Music] way [Music] well that wasn't too difficult we got all our bales unloaded we've got them in a line now when we have the wrapper we can just pull right in line with the other bales that we have already wrapped and start loading these ones on [Music] [Music] [Music] that wasn't too bad we got another wagon unloaded i've got all the bales set in line now i'm just waiting for dad just got all the horse bales over here now we're gonna head back to the farm it's almost lunch time right now daniel's working on a cloverfield i believe it's six acres one of the neighbor farmers in the area isn't doing clover this year so we took some of their clover ground and that six acre field is one of them don't tell me you were coming back to help me i'm done joel i was coming back to look at the hay because you're the old guy do you just drive around all the time now i'm a grandpa that's my new job before we head back to the farm we're heading over to where daniel is bailing the clover look at that test plot that's what we like to see that's a nice test plot now we've talked in a previous video about how clover will add nitrogen to the soil and that's why this farmer planted this here he wanted to add more nitrogen into this ground and he said hey if you want to use the clover you can harvest it so that's what daniel was doing he was over here harvesting the clover he's just dropping a bale actually and we're going to take all of this and we're going to bring it back to the farm and wrap it my favorite job is driving tractors not trucks just tractors where's his sunglasses today i left them in the house it doesn't look like there's a lot of hay up here on top but once you get over the hill it pulls you so this is what daniel meant if we stop and just look the field gets bigger back there lots of clover down there for us to round bale so this is what daniel's going to be working on basically all day and then joel is going to be delivering it to us with the wagon and i'm going to be putting it on the wrapper with dad using the skid steer loader we just finished lunch we had hot sausage for anybody that was curious joel is heading out with the bale spike he's going to that clover field matt is taking the truck and then another bale of wrapping over to the baler and then dad is going to take the bale wrapper back and i'm taking some of the wrap with me oh my look at those tomatoes don't they look good [Music] and i better get going before you start saying andrew andrew i need a bail i'm ready for a bail you didn't know i could do impressions of my dad did you i could also do impressions of my mom watch brian brian one of my talents [Music] [Music] you just can't beat this view when you're working i can't see anything [Music] [Music] so so i just got back here to uh where we're wrapping all the round bales my job is i'm loading up the bales onto the truck and then this wagon because we're pretty far away from here and transporting them right here so andrew just got me unloaded uh so what he's been doing he's been grabbing the bales and moving them right into the wrapper the clover is really turning out amazing we're actually getting a really great crop i mean just look at this view now that's clover alfalfa regular grass hay and then more clover but the crops coming out really well so we are just waiting for the boys to get back we have been round baling some of the clover they're over at that six acre field it's a little farther away from home so it's a little harder for them to get back so dad and i have a little time so i'm just marking all the bales that we have because dad and i have a little bit of time we're doing an h for the horses the grass hay is better for the horses it's not as high in protein and since these aren't race horses they're just luxury horses that people ride and they don't want them too spirited so they don't want too rich of protein in the hay they've got a lot of nice bales here [Music] dad and i have got all our round bales wrapped so now the only problem is where's joel where's matt with the round bales well matt's probably on the telephone texting his wife and joel i think he's in the pond swimming over there why he didn't invite us i don't know this is the man right here [Music] here comes matt with another truckload daniel's in his way he's gonna start shouting soon and then you're gonna be in trouble do you see how easily i just fit right in here yeah okay like a stocking [Music] [Music] we've got all the round bales wrapped today that we wanted to get done that was a big job i'm happy we were able to accomplish it it feels like there's rain coming in the weather has definitely changed these were a couple alfalfa bales that we had left over so we're just stacking a wagon full and backing it in the barn we actually finished a roll a wrap right at the last bale that we had over there so we figured might as well not open another one i think they'll slide back joel there you are [Music] that looks like a full wagon to me that bale is almost as big as your skid steer loader i know i got a big boy when it comes to our animals we're kind of in a bind right now uh we're a couple cows short of what we need for the year we started selling federal and it's gone pretty well for us so we're gonna need more cows we don't like to go to the auction but dad is gonna have to go to the auction and pick some up we're making some temporary pens down at our barn we call the blue barn and the barn we're heading to is normally full of equipment however when we buy animals from auction we like to keep them by themselves for a little bit just in case some of them aren't healthy some animals look good when you buy them but you give them a day or two and they start not looking well we don't want them around our animals our herd is doing very well and we don't want that problem this is the blue barn nothing fancy we have our silage chopper and our bean picker in here and we're thinking this area right here is where we're gonna put the steers that we're gonna get from from the inside auction that post over to here okay no problem you can come down here with a skid loader with that water thing and fill this water up [Music] there we go we have our pen all set up now we've got our feeders in place all we have to do is run up and grab some grain and fill up that bucket back there and then the cows will be good when they get here the feeder auction is at seven o'clock tonight so dad's gotta get leaving here shortly and he probably won't be home till around ten o'clock which i'll be sleeping so i won't be helping unload you'll be awake even if i have to wake you up why does he go to the left side where the ditches i don't know why he always goes to his left he's probably left-handed or something most likely what's this [Music] does he think that sinus just grows on trees [Music] just got all the animals fed got the cavs taken care of i think one of the cats got sprayed by a skunk because it stinks down here it smells like skunk oh my what are you two doing down here today playing with the cat with the kitties it's okay you're so cute the farm market's all closed so the girls came down just for a quick second we still have to take water down to the cows that we're going to be having down over the hill matt's going to do that for us how you doing i'm doing i was baking today that was good it was good to get back at it all right everyone we made it up to the house as you can see there's nothing on the table tonight because it's date night people like to know what we're having for dinner and on date night i never really tell you uh lauren and i are getting burgers tonight because lauren doesn't always feel the best at night i usually go pick something up and then we just sit and watch a show together so i'm going to pick up food for lauren and i from a local place and then we're just going to enjoy it on the couch oh yeah that's a date so that's what we're doing tonight and my mom and dad are on a date to buy cows so that means this is where we're going to end the
