Oscars recap: 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' wins top prizes

The sci-fi spectacular scooped three of the four top acting prizes. As for the other winners, Brendan Fraser took home best actor for "The Whale," finishing his comeback awards season on a high note. - I started in this business 30 years ago, and things, they didn't come easily to me, but there was a facility that I didn't appreciate at the time. - Ruth Carter won best costume design for her work on "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." This was Carter's second Oscar for her costume work on the "Black Panther" series, making her the first Black woman to win two Academy Awards. - Thank you to the Academy for recognizing the superhero that is a Black woman. - The Oscars have a history of shutting women out of major categories, noted by Sarah Polley when she won best adapted screenplay for "Women Talking." - First of all, I just want to thank the Academy for not being mortally offended by the words "women" and "talking" put so close together like that. Cheers. - "All Quiet on the Western Front" had a winning streak. The German-language Netflix film won for best cinematography, production design, and international feature. - Blockbuster movies "Avatar: The Way of Water," and "Top Gun: Maverick" had a more modest showing, picking up awards for visual effects and sound design.
