thank you [Music] so we've come across a lovely project here fidion who owns the place yeah yeah you're doing this place up yeah you look like you've got a huge job on your hands it was divided into two two houses in the 1980s so we're reuniting it and putting extension on the end so a whole new Dela Bowl slate rag roof knocking out walls new windows New Heating ground ground Source heat pump yes you're not on the mains gas obviously or anything like that [Music] so this is what you're putting on then Fillion yep and where'd you get these from it's a mixture of stuff some of it were taken off the roof but most of it uh talmar roofer is found on on online Facebook did they what happens to these slates do they deteriorate they do particularly with the Solitaire they can go a bit powdery oh really yeah and we're only we're less than a kilometer from the sea here there's a lot of slate around here I mean you said you talk about Della Bowl quarries is this actually coming from there or not it's quite possible it will have come from somewhere alone because it's way too expensive way too expensive yeah and hard to find yeah you've got some funny little boxes on the roof what what are they about so for the bats bat Dormers so the uh the left-hand loft is going to be for lesser horses the right hand Loft for greater horseshoe bets how do they know which door they're going uh there's a big one for the greater door greater orange juice how big is a it's about the wingspans maybe 200 mL or so but the entrances have to be 600 by 400 yeah um discover the Batson face up about it or were you a king no I mean I I want to confessions yeah so you you your heart's in it yeah yeah yeah because some people got oh bloody bats you know we've got to do it but they don't want to do it it's a pain but it's got to be done I think [Music] that's nice isn't it yeah lovely Granite trough so we're living in this half of the house now you're living here while you're doing it while we're doing it yeah so Tom's broken up all the floors here taken off the plaster it had all been plastered with gypsum plaster yeah and cement and it's Stone and lime and mud so it can't breathe so we're opening it all up and then we're going to use Cornish lime insulating plaster on here I know yeah about 70 mil thick yeah give us insulations you've got perlite in it I think it's got a um a sort of glass foamed glass bead or something yeah yeah just to give it a bit of air in it yeah um did you have them yes yeah yeah the place was very down but the roof was shot yeah um there was jam-p in the walls it's hard to tell wet but since we've opened it up it's been it's drying out yeah yeah so what are you going to put down a membrane or what we're gonna put uh dig this out a bit more Blinder off 100 ml of sellotex and then a liquid screed with underfloor heating in it about 50 60 mil of so poured screed are you going to be using the anhydrate the gypsum base or the cement base I'm not sure yet well I think something reinforced probably as well yeah so whichever one you get but the thing I don't like the gypsum based one because if it does get damp it turns to Mush ah okay and it's very difficult to tile on right right I don't like if you're having ceramic tiles or whatever yeah um they've got to prime it but the cement based one it's just the same it runs pumped in short done but it's just a better product for yeah more conventional if you like you know so it ends up looking like Santa cement you know okay yeah so but yeah that's my you know sorry about that yeah no I'm just apologizing to the the gypsum guys but just I just find it's you know an easy product it'll work beautifully with the um down the floor and you don't actually need that too much especially with the fibers because we'd like to try and keep the yeah I think you can get away with more probably 30 35 mil reinforced with the with the fibers I'm not saying yeah we'll have to go to sort of 50 I think this is going to be a downstairs Louvre uh kind of store-um pantry I don't know what goes on up there but it's you can't see daylight this is all going to be opened out this was taken out and then more modern extension on the end here looking at over the woods what will you build that from be a timber frame structure and then we'll skin it on the outside with stone some of the stone we use oh okay the nice bit of it is the Walled Garden [Music] yeah and that's all slight walls all the way around yeah yeah yeah and it's the um the Walled Garden is listed as well as the house so yeah yeah what was it originally this house a very long time ago it was a farmhouse a small world and then it was a courthouse apparently hence Pacific court it's got this coat of arms smart families apparently local families who lived here there's rumors that the black prince was here and stuff but you know nothing that doesn't have a King Arthur connection if indeed it doesn't um I'll just go and walk back here I just want to have a look at foreign [Applause] dies that we're gonna fall at some point and it looks like you're logging it well I'm going to make a Pergola out of it so yeah yeah so very challenging the chainsaw that was some of the Chainsaw yeah yeah and a guide on it so that you get it done yeah wow that's a good project isn't it do you have to season that forever I suppose if it's outside I'll just use it and uh I think laylander even though it's horrible makes fairly durable wood for our site so it's got lovely I'm gonna go Kevin MacLeod it's got a lovely symmetry this building yeah it's just beautiful that just very pleasing you've got to keep these trees yeah well they're not um they're not protected but we've uh you're like we love them they're they're probably 400 year old use are they so if they were all clogged up with Ivy so we had a tree guy going cut off the dead wood and take all the ivy out of them so I know you want to get on you're busy you guys are waiting so thanks very much for letting us pleasure I wish you well with it we'll take your details and you know maybe if you need anything give us a shout yeah there's just so much slate everywhere and if you've wondered where all of this Cornish Lake comes from and how it's made you can join us next week where we visit travelit Quarry oh here's the graphic I think it's about time you hit subscribe if you haven't and yeah check that little bell as well we'll see you next time [Music]
