i'm doing great but more importantly how are you all doing this morning that's a lot of love for great music we are so excited to be here it is our 10th year participating in iceland airwaves and this incredible artist has graced our stage on a number of occasions and we are always so excited to welcome our dear friend oliver arnolds take it away [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] this [Music] [Music] um [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] to [Music] so [Music] [Music] oh hello how are you this is nice i'm just facing a big-ass pole here it's great so first of all can we get whatever that noise is turned off i think it's like air conditioning or something you don't mind getting a little bit hot before you have to go back into the cold um yeah you might be wondering why we brought so many pianos with only one pianist so here's the the story of that um i uh i got in a little accident a few years ago and i couldn't play piano anymore so i actually stopped playing piano the doctors told me like i have to stop and i had some nerve damage in my spine and i decided to start the techno band instead because so i started touring the world with it with my techno band because in a techno band you don't have to do anything you just press press buttons and there's like lasers and stuff and like confetti and yeah everyone's like so that was fun and a nice way to keep me occupied until i could play piano again and then somewhere in asia i think it was in hong kong we we were in an airport and i saw a piano and it was playing on its own like a ghost piano and it was just playing like john lennon imagine or something on it kind of an extremely stupid idea and a way for the airport to save some money that they don't have to hire a pianist but i just looked at that and figured that's the solution to to all my problems uh right there so i bought two and uh and then my hand got fixed so i had to figure out something to do with these pianos so we made this little software that i'm gonna use now to play the next couple of songs this one's called unfold so so [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] do [Music] so [Music] [Laughter] [Music] so [Music] [Laughter] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] we got a couple more for you this is really complex to navigate actually um i want to tell you before we continue if you're listening in seattle at 6 00 am good good morning and also we're playing at the moore theater in january 26th so see you there uh we're going back on tour we're just in iceland for for a week uh it was supposed to be a tour break uh but we actually have three shows here while we're here but we go back on the road on monday starting in the u.s then to australia then back to the us then back to europe then back to australia then to asia then to south america and then back to america then back to europe and then it's 2020. so um thanks so much for listening we got a couple of more this this one is uh i wrote it in indonesia where i happen to also live which is very strange for an icelandic person but but very nice and i discovered the uh a holiday there they have like thousands of different cultures and like all these different little islands in indonesia and i discovered on one of the islands a very beautiful way to celebrate new year's day and they celebrated with a day of silence like nobody leaves their house nobody talks nobody uses a phone or a computer and even last year the the government on the island just turned off the internet for everybody and and that was the best day of my life and and i wrote this song on this day and i wrote it as a tribute to the idea of this day the name of the day is uh nyapi and nyapi means silent day and the idea is to give nature or mother earth one day break from humanity which i think is a wonderful idea because we are really horrible i'm not allowed to say the word that i want to say on the radio but so i celebrate this idea too to give earth a break [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] do [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] my [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] so [Music] so thank you thank you so much see you at the national theater tomorrow night and friday night discover new music get listener powered k-e-x-p dot o-r-g
