[Music] the college has collaborations with porto university portugal loveland university of technology poland swansea university uk myanmar institute of information technology myanmar and many other universities at the national and international levels the college offers undergraduate courses in architecture automobile engineering civil engineering computer science and engineering electrical and electronics engineering [Music] electronics and communications engineering information engineering and mechanical engineering the college has introduced two new undergraduate engineering courses which are in high demand today be in artificial intelligence and machine learning be in instrumentation engineering [Music] the pg courses offered by the college are mtech programs in computer science and engineering digital communication and networking machine design micro electronics and control systems and structural engineering the college also offers mba and mca mtech in environmental engineering is the new course introduced at the pg level this course too offers attractive career options several value-added courses such as ready engineer certification of tata technology nptel online certification courses of the ministry of human resource department aiml or data analytics iot courses communication courses and student-centric specific job-oriented training are conducted by the institute the college houses nain new age incubation network k-bits incubation center entrepreneurship development cell and centers of excellence the college has nearly 200 qualified and experienced faculty members which include 13 professors 31 faculty members hold phd and 50 are pursuing phd [Music] five departments recognized as research centers by vtu beligari are now facilitating the candidates to pursue their doctoral programs during the last five years over 150 research publications have been indexed in the scopus citation database with an h index of 12 about 2 crore rupees of research funding has been received from various funding agencies the library is well stocked and has a seating capacity for 450 users the open reading hall has a seating capacity for 100 users [Music] associations dr pj halcotti college of engineering and technology i welcome you all to this one day nptel awareness workshop so as we all know that nptel is a world largest repository of online video lectures the nptel was initiated by seven reputed indian institute of technologies that is uh iit bombay iit delhi at the kanpur iit kharagpur iit madras iit kawahati and iit roorkee along with the indian institute of science bangalore in the year 2003 under ministry of human resource development up to 2014 about 835 plus web courses and video lectures were created in major branches of engineering physical sciences and also in some of the branches of science and humanities at undergraduate and both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels now let us tell about this nptel online awareness workshop the aim of the nptel online awareness workshop is to create maximum awareness among faculty members and about about nptel and its various initiatives the workshop will include sessions on nptel and its features nptel online certification courses and the concept of nptel local chapter the expected outcome of this course will be the faculty will become aware of nptel and how it can be used and can be taken back to the head of the institutions for implementation in best way to benefit their students the faculty members can also have their sessions with their students where they can clarify all the doubts they can explain about nptel and about the features of and initiatives of nptel so nptel as we know is a joint initiative of iits and isc so in fit nptel is totally free it is free for r but for certification will have a nominal fee so the main mode of the nptel will be learn anytime anywhere the only requirement is interest and enthusiasm to learn it is a open course because it is open to all there is no any eligibility criteria so to take this initiative forward and to encourage more students across colleges to participate in this initiative nptel has established various nptel local chapters at its uh at different colleges which will be under the headship of one faculty member will be called as a single point of contact with the nptel or will be the coordinator for all the activities of nptel at his institute so the main objective of the nptel local chapter is to provide students and faculty a platform to listen to the lectures delivered by the iits and iiscs and to update themselves and get certified by participating in online courses and assessments now let me introduce to my institute parent institution that is bld association was established in the year 1910 by it has 75 educational institutions under its umbrella situated in various parts of north korea now under the cable leadership of dr mb patil sir bld association has reached its greater heights with medical colleges and engineering colleges under its umbrella about bld engineering college bld engineering college was established in the year 1910 with about five core branches now at present there are about nine branches in undergraduate programs and about seven branches in post-graduate programs and about 200 it has a very good human resource with about more than 200 faculties in which about 39 are phds in reputed institutes and about more than 3500 students are in our campus so with this i welcome you all to this nptel online workshop and i hand over to dr malik arjun bashala purcer to introduce our today's resource person mrs vaishali valmadam attending online for the workshop being jointly organized by nptel local chapter and the library and program she has she has joined nptel kanpur as a project injury in 2019 and have been handling and coordinating local chapter activities have been peter since then and there are education that she did most of technology in electronics and communication with specialization in wireless communication from punjab technical career like worked as a strength professor in department of electrons and communication engineering for the first five years in punjab taught and mentored mtec and vtech students during teaching career and was an active member of academic quality control team a research and development center also served as a single point of contact coordinator for the university and achievement uh so many achievements she has men have 12 research publications in our name in the field of wireless communication thank you madam i am very happy to welcome for this uh workshop and being an uh to take a negative part and to brief our nptel activities to our faculty members transfer thank behalf of bldcd and management so we started the local chapter nptel local chapter in 2018 and since then it has been very active more than 2000 students and including faculties are registering for these courses and good portion of that they're opening for exams and getting certificate it's very popular among which students as well as research scholars like as it gives exposures to basic courses as well as courses which are relevant for research related also like some of the courses our association qualities like management commerce and science degree colleges they are also participating in this string for these kind of courses so this this workshop will help new students and other degree college students and faculties uh to aware of what exactly nptel and what they are offering and how it benefits in their curriculum and to get the updated knowledge about recent courses our nptel coordinator dr bahmi is very active and in decimating the advantages of nptel and how it can help them even our university visual technology university so he is avoiding some degree so based on uh points earned from these mooc courses so this will benefit and maybe this workshop will help students to i'll just share my screen and we'll begin with my presentation uh also to make this session more interactive we will have some polling questions in between through many meter which my colleague will okay okay so welcoming you all again to the nptel awareness session uh nptel is a is an mhrd project uh which was started by the ministry of human resources development with the vision to provide the high quality and affordable education to large masses so this this was set up with the help of seven parent iits and iisc bangalore uh it has a mission uh they are used to uh the professors who are teaching at iit's those seventh parent iit institutions uh used to create a video lectures and course content and offer those content through web and video courses so it started like that and to to make that technical education to reach masses the quality content to reach masses this nptel uh project came into existence and it has seen its journey since uh so many years and it is constantly soaring high so with the seven parent institutions kanpur kharagpur madras govahati turkey and irc bangalore this this mission and vision of nptel was set up so now this is one of the largest online repository for engineering course material primarily it focused on engineering because the parents institutions belongs to the engineering field primarily but it has a lot of courses related to humanities and social sciences agriculture law and now many other domains have been touched so you can see on your screen the stats speaks for itself we have more than 29 000 plus courses with more than one billion views so 44 000 plus hours of video content along with the english subtitles are up it has a 3.1 million youtube subscribers so this number is now increased uh on your screen you can see a setup how previously the youtube videos the video lectures used to get recorded so it has seen its journey since 2013 like what uh haviser has explained previously uh started with the with the courses for engineering and expanded to the other domains so now the very important term that that a lot of people ask us swam and nptel see swam is a bigger umbrella so m is a study web for young aspiring minds uh it it contains nine coordinators like you can see on your screen so nptel is a coordinator for ugn pg er engineering courses so nptel does the technical maintenance of the swamp portal 2 so swamp is a national portal of books so moocs are the massive open online courses since the pandemic hit these online education uh taught us that yes education can be done through this remote mode uh as well place the classroom teaching but uh you can utilize your time at your own comfort level if you go for some online courses so massive open online courses has played a huge role in the past two years so like you can see on your screen it has nine coordinators aicte cec iimb ncrt nios and i triple tr in bitten and ugc so nptel is one of them so now getting ahead uh what are the components of mooc just like a typical uh classroom teaching like what you get uh you have a course content in the video lectures uh the syllabus is segregated it's already described in the portal so the coursewise the content weekly wise gets uploaded it has the video lectures now on the basis of those video lectures assignments are put up week-wise so those assignments can be can be subjective can be programming based depending upon the course that you opt for now along with this because you are learning weak wise so this these assignments play a very important role because in the final certification the marks are also collaborative submitted now along with this along with the available in the video format we have text transcriptions and also lab demonstrations wherever the course demands so texts are transcripted there are subtitles but there are translated versions to be precise with you we have translated uh the courses into some regional languages eight regional languages so if you are not comfortable in reading uh the english version of that course you can definitely go and read the english uh the hindi or marathi or tamil telugu malayalam gujaratis in these original languages too then we have live interactive sessions by the faculty members uh whatever parent institution that is providing that course that course instructor one or two depending upon the convenience slot the live interaction sessions uh with the students so if you have opted for a particular course there will be a live interactive session and you can ask your questions uh to the professor directly in that session then there is a very important component of the mooc that is a discussion forum which very rarely students utilize but it's a very good resource to utilize discussion forums is a forum that is handled by the teaching assistants of those professors and also sometimes professors to keep a check on the questions also there is a peer over there you can post your questions like you have seen a video and you have some doubt you can ask a question in that discussion forum nobody is there to judge your language what you have posted no grammatical mistakes are taken into account you can post your questions that will be answered and that's a very quick response that you get you otherwise you need to wait for that live session to happen but discussion forums are very active forums in which your questions are answered within 24 hours so make use of a discussion forum if you have not done till now don't remain a silent reader you can post your questions or at least uh review that discussion forum sometimes other people might have asked the doubts that you might be having in your mind so that's the typical component of the mooc with us then uh what is the learner engagement with this uh in order to view those video lectures a typical engagement of a learner is from three to four hours per week you can pause the video you can take a rest because we do get queries that videos are long because these are technical videos the content is being taught it's nothing related to entertainment so you can pause the video take a break and then come back and then rejoin from where you have lived so typically we believe a learner takes three to four hours to view those videos then to test yourself what you have learned through those videos we have assignments in which a learner spends two hours a week to solve those assignments our assignments are auto graded so i'll explain in the coming slides so this is the engagement while solving those assignments and then if a student makes some notes on transcripts or make some references so it takes one hour a week so you just need to note the reference because the the transcripts are also present under the videos you can download that you can take a printout or read at your convenience so this takes about an hour a week then there is a discussion forum engagement so if a student spends uh some time in the discussion forum it typically takes one hour a week to get indulged into that discussion forum so this is how the learner's engagement happened it's very similar to the ltp system of the classroom teaching so the moocs components that i have shown and now is the learner's engagement how many hours a learner spends while going through the moves now coming to the thing uh how do you get it into the nptel uh portal how do you get into the nptel courses you go to the swim website it's swam.jov.in over there you can see such type of screen on your screen when you enter this url over here you click on the nptel so this nptel is clickable you will click on the entitle it will redirect you to the course catalog the courses that are present for the nptel you click on the course catalog now uh the courses which are up there for the current semester for the jan april semester more than uh 585 plus courses are up for enrollment i would urge you after the session you visit the website and see what courses are up uh and if it's your of your interest you can enroll those courses so the alphabetical wise list will be displayed on your screen uh you can choose a course which is of your interest when you click on any of the course it will open such type of course introduction page in front of you so this course instructor introduction page contains lot of content which you can view whether that course is of your level or of your interest or not it could basically it contains um from which parent institution this is taught the name of the course uh for which type of audience this is intended if some prerequisite is required for this or not like this course of advanced aircraft maintenance requires some prerequisites so it is an advanced level course so you need aircraft maintenance basic course before starting this course so if the student has already started aircraft maintenance then they can go ahead with this otherwise if you will directly go with it you might find some mathematical difficulty in solving the questions or numericals now what type of industries support this course since this this is an aircraft maintenance course so it is supported by a lot of aerospace domain uh big companies like drdohl boeing airbus all these companies uh require such type of knowledge that you need uh before getting a job into that those type of companies so it has basic introduction video lecture a basic introduction video uploaded by the professor they will introduce you what you will learn throughout the course then the number of enrollees who have already enrolled for the course will be displayed on you on your screen then there is a course layout so all our uh syllabus is very ahead is mentioned on the course page itself like week-wise segregation is mentioned since this is an eight weeks course so till week eight what contents you will learn everything is displayed in the course layout then on your uh right hand side you will see a summary so summary contains uh whether it's an upcoming course or it's already been completed it's a core course or advanced level course uh what is the duration since this is an eight weeks course so nptel offers uh 12 weeks eight weeks and four weeks courses so you can select as per your convenience as per your pace what length of the course that you want to opt for since this is an eight weeks course so it has its starting date uh this is a screenshot of a previous run course so it has a starting date of 2020 so the start date the end date the exam date so examination dates are also announced uh well before time so you can you can see whether you are available or you don't have any clash while those examinations are up for the nptel so exam dates are also mentioned on this course introduction page then at what time the enrollment will end also the category like this is an aerospace engineering category course uh the level uh it's for the ug and the pg and also very important line this is an aicpe approved ftp course i'll come to this uh online aicte ftp course in my future slides but if the faculty member enrolls for this course they can get an additional ftp certificate as well so this is about the course introduction page so if you scroll that page down you will get to know how the calculation works i mean this is an eight week score so how many weeks assignments you need to do before to get a good marks in your final examination everything is explained on the course introduction page itself now when you when you enter a course uh this is a test link so the week-wise segregation is mentioned on your screen um like in week one what topics will be covered and when you click on a particular topic the video lecture will open also at the bottom you can find it's a click here for the video download you can download that video also at the uh if you scroll down this page a bit you can find the transcripts too so you can read if you're not fine if you don't have a bandwidth to view the video you can download that transcripts and you can read at your opinions so the week like segregation is mentioned on your screen now getting ahead to the assignment part see assignments are automated like i said uh this is a example for you like the due date for simon was third february 2021 uh at 23 59 by night 11 59 our server closes for the if the deadline of that assignment is up so on monday our contents get released along with the assignment till wednesday you have 10 days span till wednesday night 23 59 the assignment server get closed so since it's an auto graded you will immediately get the correct answers on your screen after the passing of due date so this is a mcq based assignments and msqs you can see uh the square box is for the msq and the round buttons are for the mcqs so you need to give the correct answer if the answers have every assignment every question has points right on your screen so this this assignment will be auto graded after the completion of the due date so this is one type of assignment that is mcqmsq based assignment then there are programming assignments like i told uh nptel has lot of courses from various domains so computer science for for the languages for the cec plus plus python java verilog we have programming base our portal does support the programming based on assignments so the professor can give you questions related to uploading a program and you our portal supports the compilation and running of that program and you will upload that programming assignment and you will get your result after the completion of due date so this supports the languages supports these programming based assessments too then for some uh courses related to humanities social sciences you might find uh the assignments can be essay type so you can get a question either to write an essay you can either write it down or you can upload your file so it supports both essay type questions as well as uh document uploading as well so this is about the subjective assignment now the that was all about the assignments so i'll tell you in the coming slide uh what uh number of assignments are required uh if you're opting for a 12 weeks course eight week scores or four weeks course uh meanwhile if you have any query you can post uh in the chat window itself and our colleagues are there to answer those questions yes the next thing that i was telling about it's the discussion forum so on your on the header tab you can see there's a tab called ask a question so this is a discussion forum you can click over here and you can post your questions you can view this discussion forum and you can utilize this resource as well so this is a announcement page there is a first step called announcement so whatever update is coming assignments are released or the course lectures are released every announcement is posted to all the learners who have enrolled for those courses so enrollment is completely free of cost you can enroll for as number of courses as you want so you you just go and select the courses and start learning from the nptel since this is an indigenous project and it's one of the biggest project of the mhrd in india now the mystery of higher education now the live sessions that i was telling about uh this is a glimpse of that uh professors interact with the students meanwhile a google form is released also uh you can post your questions in the chat window during that live sessions and the instructors are more than happy to answer your queries so the if you can find the links to the previous live sessions too uh see the code if the course has already run before so you can find the rerun uh archived link of that course and over there if the live session link is already there you can view the questions that were asked by the learners previously when this course was run so you can utilize this resource since it's a repository you can view the previous live sessions too now what are the steps that are involved in the certification if you want to get input certification since uh this is a certification that you will get uh from the iit's and ise bangalore it does contain a lot of value uh to be precise uh what are the steps to get the certification number one thing that you need to keep in mind is you can join any number of courses it's free of cost and that term is called enrollment so for enrolling it's completely free free now you can submit the assignments you can view the video lectures and you need to submit the assignments on time now if you want a certificate for the nptel you need to register for the examination examination fees is rupees thousand per course and it has some weavers a waiver for certain categories now after you fill up the uh for the examination one thing you need to keep in mind is there are three dates uh for the jan april 2022 like 27th march 2022 and for the 23rd and 24th april these three dates we have two shifts also likewise in one semester you can give six entitled examinations so try to see uh if your exams don't flash on mo you cannot uh just see if not more than that exams are falling on a particular day so you can very conveniently give six examinations in one semester so for registering per course you need to pay rupees thousands and you can download the whole ticket the credibility of nptel certification is we take in-person proctored examination so you need to go to the center and sit for the examination and uh then the results are published based upon the nptel criteria uh if you fulfill that criteria you will get it easier to figure it so you need to fill up the assignments on time you need to register for that particular course that you want to get a certification and you need to go to the uh exam center and give takes application we have our exam centers pan india so you can select the exam city as per your convenience now the type of the courses that i was telling we have four weeks eight weeks and 12 weeks so uh we have it in various domains like engineering management and humanities uh for the 12 weeks course uh you need to submit at least eight best assignments are counted so if you have opted for a 12 weeks course you need to make sure you submit give your best in eight assignments so eight assignments are taken into account for eight weeks course six best assignments are taken into account and for the four weeks course three best assignments are taken into account so in the next slide i'll be uh discussing about how the scores are calculated so this was about if you need to get a certification you need to enroll you need to register fill up your assessments on time and then take an in-person proctored examination so now uh this is a shift like in the morning shift from 9 to 12 we have examination and the afternoon shift it is from 2 to 5. uh very one more important thing that i would like to tell you here itself uh try to enroll using single email id now we get a lot of questions like a person has uh two examination on same shift it hardly happens with us if you have opted for from a single email id you take an identifier like that uh try to uh get a separate email id for your educational purposes don't try to confuse otherwise when the enrollment is up students fill one assignment from one email id and then start doing the other assignments from the other email id because they have forgotten from the gmail id they have enrolled and they re-enrolled that course from the other email id so keep that in mind while enrolling for a course use a single email id for various courses in this way there are very high percentage of chances that you will get a same examination center in both morning and evening shifts and the clashes won't happen now coming to the scoring and the certification and credits part of the nptel certificate uh for the final score calculation the online assessments that you give 25 of that is taken into account plus the final proctored examination that you give in person 75 of that those marks are taken into account so the collab the accumulation of both these result into your final score so that means 25 percent online assessments and 75 proctored examination so you need to get more than 10 marks out of 25 and you need to get more than 30 marks out of 75 and your final score should be greater than or equal to 40 to get a certificate so uh for 12 weeks best 8 out of 12 for eight weeks course best six out of uh eight and for the four weeks course best three out of four assignments so uh some students also get confused like uh for the 12 weeks if you need to get best eight assignments even if you uh for example if you give seven assignments and you forget to give five more just see if your score is uh greater than equal to ten that means you have scored more marks uh more than 10 marks out of 25 then you are eligible to sit for the examination but for the for the best eight only are taken into account now what are type of certificates that are given by the infidel if you scored less than 40 then i'm sorry no certificate is this given uh from the nptel because we do have uh this criteria you need to score more than 40 marks if your score comes in between 40 to 59 you will get a successfully completion certificate if your score is greater than equal to 60 you will get an elite certificate now if you score uh somewhere from 75 percent to 89 percent you will get elite plus silver certificate and if you have scored greater than equal to 90 you will get elite plus gold certificate the gold and silver are the middles uh that are embossed on your certificate certificates are given in the e format so you will be getting e certificates so the printing is not uh allowed as per the msrd guideline so you will get the e-certificate as per uh the scores that you get in your final calc score calculation uh this input online certification is up since march 2014. so uh you can see on your screen how the proctored examination happens uh you can enroll and study it's free of cost but for the proctored examination there is a fee that i told you and all our certificates are e-verifiable so there is a qr code present at the back of the certificate so uh any spoc any faculty member if students come to you to check the credibility of that particular certificate you can scan the qr code it will redirect you to the result of that candidate so likewise on your screen you can see um we had uh more than uh 2467 courses till december 2020. so 505 were in jan 2021 and uh 590 were there in uh july december semester so the examination that has happened the uh uh just previously uh in october so exam results are still coming out so we'll be soon publishing the results for that for october examinations too so more than 1.24 crore enrollments and uh within 11.25 lakh exam registration so this percentage is definitely high if we take it into if you take into account the other mooc providers or we are not in the competition but we do have the other move providers who are you know they are providing a good uh books courses so this type of uh exam registration account is definitely up if we compare with them so all our certificates are from iits and isc bangalore and it's they are e-verifiable and also uh for the jan 2022 more than 585 plus courses are up for the enrollment in the current session so this is how a typical uh gold plus elite certificate looks like so it has lead label it has a gold certificate online nptel online certification written over there along with your name a student name the course that you have completed with the scoring both in the online assessments and in the proctored examination and the number of candidates who have been certified in this course is also mentioned on your certificate itself it has the signature of the chairman of cce along with the duration and the year in which you have done this course and it has the end people according to the institute names the coordinator signature on this uh it has an institute logo that has provided that course uh for example if it's from the iit khan we will have iit khan push logo and iit khan written over here it has your roll number and you can check and validate your score on the uh this using this url uh this is the front side of the certificate how it looks like on the back side it has your roll number uh and the scoring the complete scoring range that is uh described by the nptel it has a qr code now since uh july 2017 we have started uh giving a qr code on each of our certificate to make it more uh uh this is more credible i mean you can verify it uh from your in itself whether this is correct or not uh credits are written on the back side of the certificate itself now telling you about the credits uh the credit transfer like stated by the aicte and ugc some credits are to be done per semester using moocs courses this is a guideline this is a notification released by the ugc as well as by the aicte so nptel provides some recommendations for those credits so if you have opted for a 12 weeks course uh the credit recommendation from the nptel is three if you have opted for eight weeks course the credit recommendation by the nfl is two and if you have opted for a four weeks course recommended credits from the nptel side is one so likewise you can see the number of credits recommended by the nptel is two so that means this is an example of an eight weeks course so an additional one credit may be awarded if a university deems it fit based on the actual student effort involved so every university has this uh this complete uh hold on how many credits they can addition or subtract from this and uh they can pass it the academic council and they can increase it on the basis of whatever decisions they want to take so this is the recommendation provided from the input side so this is also the reason why students are often opting for the nbl certifications because of the credit transfer tool uh now to tell a bit about the nptel online certification summary uh the courses that are uh offered so far from july december 2021 the previous session uh is there uh there were six ninety four courses that were completed uh likewise you can see on your screen the stats are up uh from the july october session from the july december session uh because we have we released our courses in some sets like in this session also in one examination will happen in the march and the other examinations will happen in the april so similarly for the the if the the second half of the year we have our examinations twice a year because we release courses uh every semester wise from the jan april semester and from the july october semester so you can see on your screen the results are about the semesters now uh if i'll tell you the courses uh which which are given from the various departments you can see across from the aerospace engineering from the agriculture applied mechanics architecture biological sciences chemical engineering civil engineering computer science design earth sciences electrical humanities law management mathematics multi-disciplinary ocean engineering to physics textile mining so we have courses pan or discipline so uh if you are for example if you are from law you can definitely go for the courses which are there in that department uh illustrated on our website so we have for the total courses that were uh released till july 2021 were 3557 so around 600 courses are also up in jan so we have a lot of courses in our repository you can definitely go and see uh which course would you like to uh go and vote for now if i'll tell you the stats uh based on the institute's spice you can see on your screen uh the seven parent institutions along with the iic have developed uh this much count of the courses and also the other institutions uh the other iits and uh triple i ts and the other institutes have also uh collaborated with the parent institutions and have provided the courses for the learners so it includes uh not just from india but we do have it uh collaboration we do have collaboration with foreign universities too like kth royal institute of technology sweden to berlin has given us course the em strandberg business school has also given us courses the texas a m university has also given us courses so these many courses have been uh given in collaboration with the parent institutions so though so more than 3500 courses uh are already given uh uh in the nptel uh now the type of the courses that are offered uh like i told you uh we have 12 uh eight and four weeks courses we do have some new courses every semester we have rerun courses every semester like if us if a course is very uh is required to be done every semester we do either make it rerun or we do it the repurposed format so repurpose formats include some uh if a professor needs some uh new additions into our syllabus and because technology keeps on enhancing so if he wants to add on something so that those courses can get repurposed so likewise it's there on your screen we have a lot of uh new as well as re-run courses on our now for for the duration of the courses we have 12 8 and four weeks so four weeks course is uh are uh helpful if you are new to some online learning but mostly people prefer 12 and eight weeks courses number one because of credit transfer and uh you get a lot of content which are covered so basically uh very big courses core or elective courses are four and eight weeks we have uh our eight and twelve weeks so for four weeks courses there are certain courses uh which are which are short and if you want to get a hold of how online education works you can society and the response that we get for the input uh online courses so this is the stats uh we began with three courses in 2014 when we started giving uh the certifications uh back in 2014 so for three courses there were 3033 enrollment exam registrations and till now uh in the previous year in 2020 810 courses were offered and the registration count increased and in 2021 to we we released around more than 1000 courses and the account is all increasing so for the ongoing semester too we are hoping this to rise and people will definitely take the benefit of the nptel online courses the exam uh attendance is uh is pretty high because people uh this this is a usp of the nptel i believe because we take in-person procter examination so the chances of uh getting into unfair means is uh negligible because uh the instructors are there people from the iits are there to inspect you and the people come up to the exam centers uh during covet 2 we we did see a lot of we we had around 7 80 to 80 percent exam attendance percentage during that time too when the examination happened in december 2020 so in 2021 itself uh the exam percentages always remain good so people are turning to the telling you about the nptel domain uh what is a domain certification domain certification is a type of a micro specialization that you can uh go with as per your interest like what i was telling you about the cross killing if you are a student of mechanical and if you if you want to have your command in programming you can go for that domain certification so domain certification equips you uh to specialize in that particular field this helps you to prepare for your technical competitions and opens up better career perspectives uh this is a certification that is uh done in the specific area of that discipline and how it is obtained you can either you can go for the nptel domain certification uh how this came into existence let me tell you first that our learners used to ask us we have completed this the set of courses now what course should i opt for in the coming semester if i want to get into for example artificial intelligence or into data science so we streamline those ignesh as a scientist in drdo measure has done 47 courses with us so the number is increased after the result will come of the previous month examination so uh he has been the dutch since we started taking the examinations back in 2014 and he has completed around 47 uh courses with us similarly we have a faculty member uh p ashoka from uh prince sri venkateshwar padmavati uh engineering college so uh the other employed and faculty and students so uh nptel this this is uh this shows how much nptel is popular amongst various roles of uh the learners now the very important uh thing that uh why uh nptel certificate examination courses are important so uh during the survey around 65 percent uh learners said that they are opting it because of credit transfer so the reason uh is this because of the notification of the ugc as well as the aicte that came i'm going to read the important point from this that higher education institutions may allow only up to 40 of total courses being offered in a particular program in a semester through online credit course through swamp platform so like i explained in the uh beginning slides uh swam is a national books portal it's a moocs platform in which nptel is one of the coordinator so you can opt for the online courses and for the credit transfer so npedl gives credit uh we have our 12 weeks course that gives a credit credit recommendation of three credits we have eight weeks course which give credits of uh recommendation of two and we have four weeks course uh for which one included is recommended so because of this you just see gathered notifications a lot of universities have opted for this credit transfer a lot of universities and colleges have operated for the credit transfer uh not just uh in the other institutions and iit's as well we do a credit transfer through this these coinbase online courses bombay have approved the credit transfer uh for the nptel online courses also in iit kharagpur has implemented the um nptel courses for the working professionals who have opted uh to do phd programs in this and also for the iit kanpur it's currently uh the senate and the decision will be out pretty soon so credit transfer are not just done in the other colleges but in the uh hades as well so now uh coming to the part of the som input in local chapters uh i'll brief you about the college that has hosted us is also our nptel local chapter uh with dr dr irish uh have you been spoc they have been uh with us since uh 2018. so uh what is a local chapter uh local chapters uh when we really started this with the mission and vision of the nptel to reach masses we we needed some interface to make our uh content reach masses so in 2015 march 2015 we started this concept of establishing local chapters in different academic institutions uh nothing was required from the college site no billboards no separate building no membership fees we just need a single point of contact from your institution you can be a university you can be an academic institutions college uh we need a single point of contact that can be a faculty member that can be a registrar uh why shall is there any internet issue am i visible now uh yeah yeah okay i'm so sorry for this technical glitch i'll just share my screen is my screen also visible yeah it is visible now okay yeah uh to tell you the benefits of establishing a local chapter i'll explain it as i go through the slides but but number one i want to tell you that we have our lca established in across all states so not just in a particular region you can see right there up on your screen we have rlc's in maharashtra it's based upon the count of how many else are there this is uh labeled that wise but uh right from uh the jammu kashmir we have our uh lc's established in lakshmi deep and andaman nicobar islands as well so for establishing a local chapter nothing no membership piece was required we just needed a single point of contact and uh after this uh to take uh to explain you the benefits of establishing an lc if your college is a lc uh you have a spoc that person has a dashboard with you you will be able to track and monitor the progress of your students there's a single stop point where you can download all the certificates so the complete database is there you can show it to the bodies as well uh governing bodies or the academic bodies that comes to see whether the moocs culture are popular in your institutions or not you you can make your faculty members local faculty members as mentors for your students so and also you can request for the data if if your college is is in such area which does not have a good internet bandwidth and you need a data to run in the library the archived courses you can take it from us in the hard disk so these are the few benefits that i have told and as i go ahead with my slides i'll be explaining more benefits so right there up on your screen you can see uh we have our elses established across uh examination is definitely high because you have a person to uh constantly remind you we contact from the nptel site diary site we contact that particular person who's our spoc and he or she can disseminate the information like when the enrollments are up uh when the deadlines are coming uh what students are required to fill and everything is uh explained to that is poc and we we contact them we do have uh spoc's meetings too and that person uh takes all the information and then you can ask your questions to him or her he'll be asking to us so you have a constant uh a check on you and that person motivates you to fill up the examination registration count is definitely high uh from the lcs uh because of this um the lc participation to explain you in the previous year definitely you can see the top 10 states who have done good in getting the registrations and now to tell you about something about the rating criteria our local chapters have been us been with us uh from past five six years now now to rate them we are not ranking a college but we are ranking on the basis of the n bitter learners of your particular college if your college is a lc and you are an spoc then you need to ask your students while they are filling up their forms then kindly say yes your call is an active local chapter and fill your college name correctly so that you will be able to monitor in your dashboard those students uh you'll be able to see their assignment marks and every information too so uh based upon the marks that what your college learners get we give you a ranking that ranking is uh getting into a top 100 and an active lc grading formula so for the active rating uh active ranking uh formula you we need at least 25 exam takers from your uh institution should be present to give examination and minimum 13 of them should certify so this is a very basic uh formula to stay an active lc so if you if you satisfy this criteria you will get an active local chapter certificate in your dashboard so this is about active nc rating now about the top in the top 100 what we give is top 10 are rated as triple a next 40 lcs are rated as double a and next 50 are rated as a so all the rating formula of calculation of this is there on our website so if everything is transparent you can see these are completely based upon the nptel learners marks that are obtained nothing to do with the college ranking we are not ranking it we are giving it on the basis of the nptel exam takers so right here on your screen you can see that triple a rated colleges are from tamil nadu pradesh karnataka too uh and we hope to see uh bldec also uh coming up in this list pretty soon so in our top 100 lcs um there are a lot of engineering institutions along with arts and science institutions as well we have uh universities around 11 universities and nine others so a lot of pharmacy colleges have also uh joined our lc family and they are also part of local adapters now now to uh give some more recognition to our lcs because spocs do a lot of work for us they they pass on the information they keep a tab on the progress of their learners also uh spoc this is responsibility to make the local faculty member of your college as a mentor if they want to become a mentor and uh and uh the timelines and guidelines that spocs needs to follow so we have given a a special category to encourage them more so there is a category of top new local chapter and in inside top 102 previous previously uh we had two colleges and outside top 100 too uh last year we gave a cumulative ranking from jan december 2020 uh this year also we will give a cumulative ranking uh for jan december 2021 and once the results are out the ranking will come uh next on the basis of top lc is on the based on the faculty performance likewise i asked when a faculty member enrolled for a course uh while filling up your profession please take care to fill yourself as a faculty member because your college might fall under this ranking so if you are falling under this there is a a special category given as a top lc based on the faculty performance so three were there inside top 100 and three were from the outside top hundred which were active actually now the top lc is based on the improvement in the reading points so there can be chances that uh the fact that the learners have improved and a good ranking has been obtained so based upon that uh three colleges have been in insight top 100 and again three from kerala tamil nadu have been in the outside top 100 now the next category is based on the improvement in the certificate count uh there can be chances that uh the the faculty members or the learners have increased and there is an increase in the certificate count they might have not have obtained a a good come under that inside top 100 but they have obtained good number of certificate and there is an improvement in that count so based upon this again we have three colleges which are inside top 100 and three which are outside top 100 right there up on your screens um coming to the next category uh for the arts and science colleges uh we have our next uh distinguished category to rank them this is the top uh arts and science college which are eight of them are falling inside top hundred we have it from talagana uh from tamil nadu kerala assam and also three are from the outside top 100 so these uh 11 have got this special category of top arts and science colleges now to give some more motivation we have introduced this category of lc stars so lc stars are those colleges who have performed uh very well over past four years that means eight semesters and have been consistent in their ratings in at least seven of them so those colleges are called our lc stars and they have got that certificate in their dashboards so this is a criteria for which a college uh has to come in top a 100 lc rating they have they have maintained their lca ratings and and in at least seven of them so these are from a lot of states you can see tamla pradesh karnataka west bengal pradesh and we hope to see uh many more colleges coming up soon in this lc stratus now very important uh like what i was telling you in the course introduction page about the aicte approved ftp courses uh for the faculty members we have an mou with aicte to recognize our ug elective and advanced courses as ftp courses so if a faculty member enroll for a course number one for getting for enrollment it's free of cost and if you want to get a certificate of completing that course you need to register for the examination just same as what other learners do the passing criteria is also same for faculty members the courses which are of that level are mentioned on the website itself the course introduction page uh i urge the faculty members to please see whether that line is written it's aicte approved ftp course if you want to opt for a course try to learn for those courses and also choose from domain certifications too you need to enroll for a course you need to register and write the examination and pass the examination after this a link of aicte ftp certificate uh separate links come off rupees 100 you need to fill up that link and you will get an additional certificate apart from getting an infidel certificate as aicte approved ftp course i'll just show you the certificate this is a certificate that you will get during the semester uh while learning the course uh you can obtain this benefit of getting an ftp so nptel aicte ftp it has a logo of aicte as well as nptel and the name is written along with your photograph the course that you have opted along with the consolidated score it has a signature of input and coordinator madras professor andrew sangaraja and also from above signature of the advisor of icte along with their role number and this is also verifiable so uh one you can get a certificate for completion of a course number two you can get an ftp certificate number three if you act as a mentor to your students of your particular local chapter if your college is a local chapter you can act as a mentor to them and if your mentors if you if your mentees perform well you can get a mentor certificate as well so three certificates for the faculty members and this will definitely help you in your personal growth in your professional growth and during the semester without taking uh leads you can go for the ftps so this is the criteria what aicte has given us for the four weeks course if you go with this uh you will get a half ftp for one week uh if you opt for eight weeks course you will get one uh full ftp of one week and you should go ahead with the 12 weeks course uh you will get one and a half ftp points so all the cash calculations can be done using the table and it's listed on our website so you can definitely see there's a rise in the exam registration and the faculty participation because of the ftp uh since it was introduced and uh and it's still going uh stronger in the coming semesters um since we had our mou in july 18 and uh it has increased in the ftp's courses uh for this a faculty member has to pass and the passing criteria is same you need to carefully do the assignments and uh give a proctored examination so like you can say how many uh faculty members are applied in in jan 2020 around 8729 have applied and the 6210 have availed this because you need to pass in the examination too for the july 2020s around 16 000 have uh applied and eleven thousand have appealed this uh while filling the form uh a rupees thousand as an exam fee and rupees hundred extra for this ftp certificate e-certificate so 1100 is given to our uh is taken from the uh faculty members if you want to go for the aicte ftp course now uh one more initiative for our sbocs is to provide them support for attending the conferences so these uh conferences are the the conferences which takes place in iit's iisc uh triple ids and iic uh csr labs and other t40 conferences that uh happen uh we used to provide them a support in a form of with the capping of twenty five thousand uh uh the splcs who will go and present the papers uh will be given preference and uh you need to upload your data uh if in the first 10 days of every month this form gets opened in your spc dashboards for first 10 days of each and every month and if you have if you're going to attend a conference and you are presenting a paper kindly upload the required documents and after uh the after the committee approves this you will get the support for attending that particular conference uh so this was a tiny thing for our spocs uh not just this every thursday we used to have their their open house for our sbcs whoever is watching right now i would like you to uh if you have any query uh kindly join that open house session every thursday we interact with you and uh we have our whatsapp group across various states so every every time any update comes you can chat with us you can ask us queries and we are more than happy to answer your questions so uh to tell about some other initiatives of the nptel uh we have our exam centers now established outside in india too because we have our learners who are uh learning through the nptel portal from uh outside india so around uh 477 candidates um are looking to give the examination and similarly for the we have established our uh exam cities in dubai abu dhabi in uae and also in sri lanka and colombo and jaffna and we are seeing to expand more and make this indigenous project reach the higher levels of global uh platform so uh some countries from which the learners took examinations are right up on your screen we have ghana we have learners from kahana uae qatar usa nepal kuwait australia germany so around 426 uh learners from other countries have given already given the nptel examinations [Music] uh now to tell you more about some lab workshops we have our we used to have our in-person lab workshops for a batch of 60-70 students who used to come to the iit campus which is offering that those lab given by the that instructor along with their scholars and used to stay in the campus and uh give an in-person lab certification examination uh in 2020 uh it happened in the online mode in 2021 to it it is happening in the online board earlier it used to be in the physical format so right up on your screen you can see basic sciences uh uh courses are there which give this in-person lab certification courses so in uh triple i tdm's and uh these workshops have already taken place from the nptel side then uh there is a internship opportunity for our toppers too so if you are a topper of a particular course you have this opportunity based upon the slots available with the professor who has given that course to do internship under him or her so in 2018 and 2019 uh those internships used to happen um on in the campus itself uh and it's it's it's for the holistic development of that learner too and these these are paid uh internships student uh does get uh the stipend for doing this so you know s these workshops uh these internships have already taken place uh in 2021 around 60 uh faculty members have given the slots for picking up the students and around 40 plus are selected for the internships whose internships are currently going on so not just you will learn but you will also get the opportunity to learn from the course instructors from the iits who have given that particular course so kindly i take benefit out of these nptel courses then uh one thing which is very important nptel has our industry associate program um these uh these the the nptel has a collaboration with a lot of industries you know more than 62 industries are our industrial associates uh they they take our individual courses for upskilling and re-skilling their employees and also they help us including our nptel star learners so and they do offer internships to our toppers and learners who have done exceedingly well in the nptel examinations and they do offer co-offer courses with us so if you have seen the courses we had the courses with the google with ibm with glass academy and many others within collaboration with industries so they do co-offer courses with us and also they uh help us through csr funds the corporate social responsibility funds so the fee of waiver that we give to the economically weaker section students are done through this fee waiver and also the support given uh to the spc they're also through these funds so this is the nptel industry associate program i'll be explaining you a bit more about it because this is very important for the learners and this this is a list of our nptel industry associate partners i have highlighted those that you might have heard uh powergrid is there qualcomm is their glass academy healthy drdo iris infosys and many others uh these these nia rna partners are doing a lot they are providing uh soft skill trainings to our nptel learners and also to the students of tier 2 and tier 3 cities active local chapters and helping us in make them employable so if if you if you if you belong to a city which and if you belong to a college which already has a good uh placement records and companies come visit over there but there are a lot of students who have uh don't have access to that so nptel is aiming to give them at least this employment opportunity to sit for the placements and uh give the best shot because we do have a lot of learners who are from look and cranny of india and don't get such opportunities uh with them so if your college is providing such opportunities i definitely urge the fourth the final year students and the pre-finalist students to take that seriously because this is the need of an art so along with them we provide soft skill training type one in which uh the employment assessment test has already taken place or of around 11 000 candidates and out of that 1600 have given the online interactive group sessions and then one-on-one mock interview has happened based upon the feedbacks that what our industry associates have given us a spoken english test is also taken off 52 candidates so uh this is uh done on one to one basis two in the online mode itself uh the mock interviews have happened and uh the person who is taking interview is are from the industry itself so the this is uh for our uh nptel certified candidates a preference is given to the ten petal star stoppers and the lc students of tier two three or three cities and a lot many students have taken benefit out of it i will show you in the upcoming slide uh we got students placed uh in the companies through the soft skill trainings uh then there's a type two of uh soft skill training it's a 20-hour training program two hours per day for 10 days in which a batch of 20 students are selected and there is a predate training mock interview and the post training mock interview to analyze what you have gained through this soft skill training that you have taken place uh there is employability assessment test taken uh then the online sessions on communication skills writing skills resume building interpersonal skills importance of social networking in the context of jobs or how you search your job with the linkedin how you make your profile more visible uh to the your future employers so all these skills are inculcated in you and taught you during these trainings and also there's a takeaway assignment they might ask you to write your resume to build an a particular profile of yours and this this type of training has the minimum attendance criteria of 80 percent to get at least participation certificate and so in 2021 this training is currently going on every month and it's it's uh taking place across various lc's too so these this is a glimpse of how online trainings uh are taking place off skill training so people students are connected with us along with our nie partners who are working for these trainings now to uh tell you the impact of soft skill training this is a feedback that we get from the students who got placed in various industries so you might not be able to see on your screen but you can read uh on the online on the nptel.ac dotting page uh the questions uh the what uh feedbacks that they have posted so uh it feels good uh that when the student said that yes this this these type of soft skill trainings have helped them to crack the interview when when you are technically sound but you are not able to communicate the idea that you have in your mind to your future employer that is sitting in front of you that's where your soft skills and your interpersonal skills plays a huge role you should be able to communicate what is there uh what your viewpoint is you should those those skill sets are built in these types of training soft skill trainings and interpersonal trainings so now the nptel toppers performance in the placements nptel has provided recruitment opportunities to around more than 100 candidates in various industries um this is not a mass recruitment to be very clear this is the recruitment of the learners who were from uh far off area who never had access to good companies coming to the colleges and or in the companies coming to the colleges so they they but they have been our nptel learners and this was at least we could we could uh do for them so we have uh the students placed in infosys as system engineer specialists we have software developers uh got into caps gymnast we have software developer uh being offered by just network limited and uh yla has given job to four students and the talent development phase so the soft skill training companies like tcas cabs gemini uh lg electronics and lot many skyfi labs are our partners in training those students to make them employment ready so uh with this i would also like i have some more slides to share with you but i will also take up some of the questions which are coming uh in my chart window although the questions are being answered by my colleagues over there but i would also like to okay yeah like i said in the morning your courses are interdisciplinary you can choose any course of your interest yes domain certification for domain certification uh you need to visit the website uh i'll give you a walkthrough if you have time uh how uh the domain certification works yet these lab workshops uh are basically for the basic sciences uh for the physics chemistry and biology and others too it used to takes place in the physical format students used to come in the campus and get this workshop done and then there is a in person examination and after passing that examination candidate gets a completion certificate yeah the courses are four weeks 8 weeks and 12 weeks registration examination for the registration it's not per month it's per course rupees thousand you choose any course 4 weeks 8 or twelve weeks for uh sitting for the examination it's a fee of rupees thousand which is decided by the mhrd nptel uh is a project and it's uh no nothing no profit goes to us it's it's the fees that we give to our third party that takes examination yeah ftp certificate for the ftp certificates you need to fill yourself as a faculty member um and opt for a course which has written at the bottom in the summary page itself as this is an aicte approved ftp course okay yeah a lot many questions are have already been answered uh yes uh credit recommendations for 12 weeks we recommend three credits for eight weeks we recommend two credits and for four weeks we recommend one period all the documented uh or every documentation is present on the in picture website i'll give you a walkthrough after this ppt of mine and you can browse through and uh have a look at it okay so this was about uh the performance and the placements like why what i was telling so very important for you to take your soft skills seriously then build your technical skills strong because ultimately after getting a job you need to go and perform in the organization that you have eaten the job in so you need to sharpen your those technical skills too and if you're interested to do something cross skill and your course curriculum at your college does not permit you that it doesn't have that much flexibility uh you can go through the online uh in the you you can do it through the books platform so and also if if you're a student for example of a final year and you need to sit for the placement but you have forgotten the concept of c plus plus you can definitely go ahead and refresh yourself by the entire courses too so it will definitely give you a different uh perspectives and uh you you can see which course is of your interest now um getting ahead we have uh launched our special election series back when 20 20 20 when the dynamics hit uh these a special lecture series uh is a one hour interactive lecture sessions uh ranging from a topic from career guidance to technology and general topics uh learners does get exposure to eminent faculties we we we have speakers from very big organizations they are big shots in their domains and uh they share their experiences they share their journeys and they tell what is relevant in the current field and what is the scenario of employability and what's going on so these are streamed on the nptel iit madras youtube channel and uh these lectures are available free of cost to publish so there are lectures by the ibm google gap gemini enforcers higher authorities and for example to give you a glimpse so we had a lecture on getting into ist and ips it was given by ips shell intro um social network versus real network this lecture was shared by director of hr of capgemini the tax landscape in india and global context was discussed by the deputy commissioner of income tax the learnings that shaped the career was discussed by the vice president of ibm the ideas that shape the web this was a lecture delivered by the vice president of google employability a startup perspective this was shared by the director of unit systems and future of mobility was uh delivered by the vice president of mahindra mahindra this was a very few glimpse once you go to the uh page of uh nptel madras youtube channel you can see uh many uh lectures are there around 230 plus right now it's more than 250 and uh you can uh see uh which lecture is of your interest it's it's hardly a one hour lecture and you can take a benefit out of this so it touches the various uh general topics as well as the technical talks uh then uh the translation that i was telling you uh we have a translation initiative too uh the the content of the nptel lectures are being translated the transcripts are being translated into eight region languages bengali gujarati so this this translation is also taking place and a lot of courses have already been translated uh i'll just show you for example if you if you want to read something uh in hindi so for example the course the joy of computing using python has already been translated and it's present in a book format so because this is for the personal use only so every lecture being delivered by the professor sudharshan anger is being translated and that pdf is done in the book format so that you can download a single book and you can read the complete course material similarly for the power electronics for the cost accounting for working capital management uh and many more you just need to go to the nptel dot ac dot in slash translation and you can see uh what courses are available in different languages uh okay uh to share something more uh this is a 10-date timeline that i am sharing for the jan april 2022 semester so the courses are already up for the enrollment uh we will begin our course uh on january uh 24. for one set we divided into two sets so one sector will be open uh this the course will start in january 24 and the other set that is week four set two and week eight set two will begin in feb 2021 but the courses are open for enrollment of all both sets so you can see the exam dates are also there and the one exam date is in uh on march 27th and the other exam date dates are in the april 23 and 24th the two sessions are there uh morning session from 9 certification so credit points since this is a 12 weeks course it gives three credits so also this is an aicte approved ftp course uh the course uh is intended for the audience of btec mdec as well as phd there is a prerequisite required so if you click on the prerequisite course it will redirect you to that course also since this course in archive course archive course means it has already taken place so you'll be able to see it from the resources tab that i will just show you in a couple of more minutes so while scrolling you down you can see the complete course layout what the professor is going to teach in each and every week will be there on this course introduction page also uh the references or any uh thing required uh will be listed on this course introduction page itself then uh the complete detail about criteria to get a certificate is also mentioned like the average score is required of 25 of average of best eight assignments out of 12 assignments uh the exam score final exam score needs is 75 percent taken into account of a proctored examination out of 100 so final score is uh addition of both average assignment score as well as exam score so if you go down um the exam date is also mentioned morning session and evening session both are offered for this particular course along with the fees which is an optional fee if you just want to learn just enroll for the course and give assignments and if you want to get a certification you need to pay a thousand rupees for a particular course so this was an example of one course then i'll also take you back for page itself there is a summary i just explained that this it has a start date end date exam date duration it's at 12 weeks course credit recommendations three this is an aicte approved ftp course so uh faculty members who will be opting for this course also has an opportunity to get an additional certificate of aict approve fdp so on this course page itself like i showed in the slide it has intended audience written it's b m tech and phd it has a prerequisite a learner needs to go through introduction to airplane performance course before doing this course also the industries that support this course are written on the in the course layout you can see uh the segregation week by segregation of complete syllabus is listed beforehand so you will be able to know what will be taught in which week also if you scroll it down you will get to know uh the course certificate see it's written the course is free enrollment is free you can learn from this but if you want to get uh the examination uh certificate you need to register for the course fill up a fee of rupees thousand and go to the exam center and give the examination this examination of this course is on 23rd april 2022 in both morning and eve afternoon shifts any shift can be allotted to you so uh the criteria to get a certificate uh again it's a 12 weeks course so best eight assignments are taken into account so average of those best eight twenty five percent are taken and uh the final examination that you will give in in person mode seventy five percent of that score is taken and the final score is addition portal uh when you start with this courses start and uh the second thing that i wanted to show you is nptel dot ac dot in like i told you uh you go to this portal if you click on the nptel stars this is uh right there up on your screen the different uh recognitions that we have given to our nptel learners if i click on the domain scholars you can see uh we have segregated it jan june 2019 july december 2019 jan december 20 and jan april 2020 so right there on your screen you can see uh jan april 2021 the total 75 candidates have obtained uh domain uh scholars recognition and in jan in december 2020 50 candidates were able to get this recommendation so a lot of students faculty members from various disciplines uh have obtained this domain uh scholars requisition so you can browse this website you can see lot of faculty members have obtained faculty domain advanced and faculty domain fundamentals and other technical uh domains so this is about the domains uh scholars tab the complete criteria is written uh every domain will comprise of the core and elective courses which are to be uh fulfilled by the candidate a learner has to complete and pass in all the courses um the final score of any of the course or should not be less than 55 and the average should be greater than equal to 60 and if and the number of weeks which are set for every domain has to be fulfilled and if a candidate fulfill this uh they will be able to get a domain certification also there's a query if the same course is listed in different domains then it will be counted only in one domain calculation so you should not think if you go for a particular course which is offered in two domains you will be able to get two domains it will be counted for one domain and similarly you need to streamline your electives also so this was uh 75 candidates who have obtained in jan april session 2021 so once the results of october are out you will be getting more number of domain scholars similarly for the superstars and the other recognized categories you can see on your screens uh to tell you about uh something else i would like to take you to one thing more uh when you go to the nptel.c dot in over here you can see uh in the important announcements uh the gate preparation portal now when i click on this for the students who wants who is aspiring to prepare for gate gate portal is launched by the nptel on 14th of october and this this portal is active for all the learners you can learn uh through video solutions to previous gate questions and the complete video explanations to some particular subject concepts are there they are completely linked so the gate syllabus mapping is done the gate question paper mappings are done and the video solutions are present okay i'll just show you one by one if i go to the syllabus mapping if i open the computer science you select a particular subject and you can select a topic and it's mapped so it will redirect you to the video where that question or the topic is explained now if i go to the question paper mapping and if if i um go to a computer science or if i go to electronics and i want to open and more mappings of previous questions are going on so links uh these question papers are uploaded and the video solutions of them are also up so i'll be going to the video solutions and if i go if i open any of the discipline uh i want to go top advice and i want to open a particular topic uh a question wise or if a question is asked in 2011 the answer to that of that particular video is mapped so this is a great resource for all the people who want to prepare for gate examination since this is a not just a qualifying examination for graduation studies but also it's an opportunity for psu jobs so these in computer engineering discipline you can see for getting the domain of data science you need to complete at least 60 weeks of learning three core courses are to be completed uh the core courses are mentioned in the tablet format if the courses are up for the enrollment uh that link is also mentioned if that course has particularly run before all the previous links are mapped so you just need to browse and uh see what contents are there so all the core courses if if two courses are offered in the same if new courses are offered links for both are present and similarly if i browse down uh in that that is we are facing it as a major reason for our students to take up the exam or to register as per their respirations are concerned so is there any possible ways there so that nptel itself is going to come with some streamlined exam dates so that it is uh so uh if you if you see our uh nptel website on the noc website uh our exam dates are declared way ahead of time i mean uh till the next two years also they have declared the dates but yeah the sessions are different in the north and the south zone colleges too but you can uh write to us we will see some middleweight might come yeah you can definitely approach us we now know that we are facing this problem we will definitely get back to you with this this is the major reason what we are observing in registration circumstances yes
