[Music] [Music] nothing phone 2A has been one of the best budget phones so far this year but the Galaxy a55 just launched an middle up to late March and um we're going to go ahead and see which phone comes out on top in the speed test let's begin with a boot up in three 2 go and uh we'll see which one we can get there first now I've been doing some preliminary testing and the nothing phone and the Samsung Galaxy a55 both seem similarly quick so you have some good options here this year although the nothing phone is a little bit cheaper for sure um definitely more unique the Samsung kind of feels um like a Galaxy S line though this year with it's premium build but not quite as Sleek with the uh sides being a little sharper the nothing phone does turn on a little bit faster so the first W is going to go to the nothing phone all right guys so let's take it on to Biometrics and you could see the face unlock here for the nothing phone is pretty decent we'll go ahead and look again pretty decent and I tried to fool it with a picture I wasn't able to although I've seen some videos out there where they were able to fool the nothing phones with a picture now on the Samsung over here we also have a face unlock you'll see the camera kind of gets enlarged up there but it's not always as fast to me it takes a second to see me and then it goes in so I do think the face unlock is a little quicker for the nothing phone also you're going to find yourself fingerprint sensors on both of them in display that's probably the method most people are going to use and you could see let's go ahead and do that again 3 two go it's faster than a nothing phone so the nothing phone turns on faster and faster to get into the device um so that's just on the Note the nothing phone has the quicker Biometrics on both the face and the fingerprint they also have the ability to go ahead and unlock the phone um skip the lock screen so if you don't want to do the swipe you don't have to you can do that on both of these you can skip that all together in terms of the actual OS we're looking at the nothing phone OS here and it's very Snappy very smooth and snappy for the most part we'll talk about what I mean by that later let's go down to about phone you'll see nothing phone uh OS 2.5.4 a mediate Tech dimensity 7200 Pro 12 GB of RAM so that's an advantage over my 8 gig of RAM over here on the Galaxy and 5,000 m power battery somebody said in one of my videos that they're not a fan of the icons I just wanted to Showcase something here you can easily change those I only put those so you can definitely tell in the thumbnail that this is a nothing phone if we hit the default icons you can make them look just like that once again you don't have to have this whole nothing OS theming if you don't like it I put it on there for the videos generally scrolling through though one of the things I'm noticing about the nothing phone is that it just kind of feels very Snappy um just kind of a simple clean version of Android however it's let down by one area on the on the a series and I'll talk about what that is later but over here we have the xos 1480 one one of the things Samsung really did here this year is I think they're doing a lot of good optimizations with the software because this phone out of the box feels much smoother than I felt with the Galaxy a54 it's nowhere near a flagship level like the Snapdragon agen 3 but it's still very good you know it's much better and I'm not really disappointed so far generally speaking the Speed and Performance scrolling through is pretty smooth on here as well confirm the software here one UI version 6.1 with Android 14 so they're pretty fair here when it comes to this comparison all right guys so here we are at the app test what many consider to be the only portion of this speed test but it's not let's go into calendar and you'll see I think that was the Samsung we go on the clock and that was pretty close one thing I noticed is that both of these phones do kind of the opposite thing in that Samsung first air nothing phone has these like really fast animations but it feels like the CPU is not enough to keep up with nothing's you know optimizations so this can still feel like it's stuttering sometimes or a little bit slower whereas the Samsung feels like it's kind of more in line with the the performance let's go into Play Store meaning that the animations aren't going going faster than the CPU can so it feels slightly more consistent however um it feels also like on the Samsung like sometimes it needs more power let's go into Groupon um so while I was saying earlier that the Samsung doesn't really you know it's not like the a54 it still feels a little slow with its exos um when you start doing multiple things and you start just kind of using real world use um for sure both of these tend to scroll a little bit choppier than a flagship foam and both of these tend to load things a little bit slower but um they're both like pretty impressive for the price though a lot of people say well what's the point of a mid-range phone I could just get a used Flagship you want a brand new phone with a warranty you also want a brand new battery with a brand new phone and you don't want to pay the premium price also if you want a more modern design a lot of these mid-rangers are more in line with the current design philosophies of the companies so keep that in mind let's go into Amazon however I do have to say I agree with some of you there who are like I'll just get an older s23 or s22 or something like that or maybe a nothing phone one or two used something like that that makes a lot of sense but at the same time keep in mind some of these um phones have been used beat up they're going to be scratched so you got to be careful when you are picking those up to make sure you don't get you know ripped off let's go into play and you can see that's first on the left let's go over over here to freef Fire and in some markets you know those phones used aren't cheap either so depending on where you at where you're at in the world you know that could be a good deal or not such a good deal and you might just want to get a phone like this anyway um let's go into Subway Surfer specifically in the US buying a used Flagship might be a cheap proposition but in certain countries a used Flagship might still be twice as much as this so keep that in mind when you're making that opinion you got to remember this is like the these this is a GL these are Global phones they they sell in multiple places around the world and you'll see nothing pH a little faster there it's looking like so far that nothing has like a slightly snappier animation seeming to load things a little quicker um than the Samsung let's go all right so let's go into pubg Mobile here and see what happened here for this phone right here on on this one in this game let's see which one wins out here it looks like the nothing phone is in the lead remember we have 12 gigs of RAM and the nothing phone actually boosts its performance a little bit in gaming so it could give it a de advantage and slightly quicker there but not a ton let's go over to 3D mark this is going to be interesting to see these scores cuz they're not going to be anywhere near Flagship grade but it' be interesting to see which budget phone does better nothing going faster on the left and inshot faster on the right geekbench faster on the right so they traded blows I would say they're pretty close honestly it's kind of like do you want the features or do you want the nothing phone Snappy simple vanilla kind of feel with its enhancements and its glyph interface and stuff on the back honestly I think the nothing phone feels like it's trying to be faster than it can handle but I feel like the Samsung needs more power so there are there there are acfic to be made here but both of these are generally pretty good phones for day-to-day operations all right so let's go ahead and do a ram reload see how they perform in this aspect really like the nothing animations they look very Snappy we have to double swipe here which I don't have to do on a Samsung because I have good lock enhancement let's go over here on the nothing phone this is nice though it feels pretty good let's go into Amazon and I feel like um you know there's been a couple of updates I feel like there's not much more nothing's going to be able to do there's only so much you can do when you have like a mid-range processor like you're not going to be able to or a budget processor you're not going to be able to um hit Flagship performance but they're pretty close for the price of this phone they're giving you almost a flagship feel um but it's just not going to be that because you just don't have the chip to support that but they're doing really good for what this phone is honestly and let's go ahead and do the reload test here for the Samsung Galaxy A series you could see everything so far are held pretty good let's go over here to Tempo Run 2 was that a Reload no that was good you can see the animations definitely improved over before this is definitely better than what I seen on um the a54 before that seemed to like kind of reload there on Amazon keep in mind there is a setting in the battery settings called Deep Sleep um if you don't enable that it will close basically everything on here to save battery life and then also that's a Reload I'm Best Buy 8 gigs of RAM yeah that's a total reload we'll go to calculator generally though it's pretty good you can see calendar with a Reload so a couple reloads this is 8 gigs of RAM but if we go in here and we go to we just kind of like type deep here just type deep you'll see deep sleeping apps if this is turned on which it is by default you're going to have um apps reloading all over the place also there's something called Ram Plus in the memory settings where you can actually hold more apps by going to ram plus down here and turning on 8 gigs by default it's at four so it's going to close more stuff on this phone so those are two settings I had enabled for this reload test and here are our final Wildlife extreme scores you can see the nothing phone with the win at 1152 was an average frame rate of 7 FPS with the Samsung around 6 FPS scoring only better than 177% of devices on the a55 and scoring better than 22 on the nothing phone so pretty close uh very close actually but the nothing phone takes the victory over the Samsung there let's go ahead and run a geekbench CPU Benchmark and I'll be back to see does the mediate Tech beat the xenos in this test we'll be back did I say exos exos in this test so our final scores are in for the geekbench test and you'll see the Samsung winning out in both of them so a slightly faster CPU here um with the xos over here but it seems like nothing has boosted the mediatech CPU to kind of match it mostly um not giving them credit they lost there in 3D in The Benchmark but they won in 3D Mark so gaming nothing phone CPU technically Samsung but neither of these are going to be your CPU beasts these are budget phones after all or mid-rangers depending on where you're at definitely um both of them decent but those are not like czy e high scores whatsoever but that's what they let's go ahead and see if we get any difference on the network speeds here we're going to go go right here on the left and then I'm going to make sure I'm on the same server while that's running over there you can see pulling in near 500 on the download um not bad near nearing six here now over six near seven so yeah you can get some pretty quick internet speeds there for is that 700 that's a good day for me with the download speeds see 23.2 on the upload let's go and take a look at the a55 let's see what it can pull off is it going to be faster I don't know is it going to be the same we'll see this is a global unlocked Latin American ition here um so I'm not sure if it's going to pull in the same performance but you can see right there way better there on the nothing foone and then you'll see over here about the same on the upload so nothing foam wins it on the download so generally you're going to get some pretty good speeds here both of these are capable of 5G um but both of them definitely pretty quick in that area last thing I want to do is go ahead and launch the camera see which one could do that even quicker that isn't important area and I've been testing out these cameras and I can tell you both of them are not my favorite but they're both pretty decent for what you're paying let's hit camera faster on the Samsung and we'll do that again 3 2 go and you'll see faster on the Samsung what about the shutter pretty similar when we're going through the zoom lenses you'll see a little faster on a nothing but some of the results turn out better on the nothing some on the Samsung let me know if you want to see a full comparison non speed test but a comparison on which to buy between these two products they both have pretty large screens though around 6.6 in on the right 6.7 on the left so the 2A got a lot of attention here this year because it was the first nothing budget phone Samsung's been doing these a series for a while and this one is the best one yet uh for the a55 for the A50 series um but definitely still the xnl holds it back from being like a true Beast um I will say though the nothing phone kind of feels like it wants to move faster than the CPU can handle like it feels like it has the nothing phone 2 animations the nothing phone 2 optimizations but it CPU chokes it up sometimes so you'll be like enjoying its speed and then something will stutter and you'll be like what the heck was that um so it seems like it wants to move a little faster than it can handle um but it's still very respectable for the price the Samsung a55 feels like kind of like a Galaxy S line pretty smooth and snappy but then sometimes it feels a little slow like something will be stuttery or choppy it's rare rarer than it was on the a54 it's been improved but you can still tell sometimes that things don't load as fast open as fast and don't generally perform as fast as a flag ship phone and you kind of notice sometimes it's a little inconsistent so both of them they're definitely budget phones they're definitely cheaper non- premium phones but they kind of still have a lot of elements that make them feel close so both impressive I like both um I still think there's room for improvement especially in this category thumbs up if you enjoyed it subscribe if you haven't already and I'll catch you all in the next speed test Nick here be sure to be well and peace
