North Dakota: One Day in Fargo, ND - Travel Vlog | What to Do, See, & Eat!

look at the viking ship [Music] we're matt and nat a travel couple based out of nashville tennessee after having our world turned upside down in 2020 we decided to set out on our biggest adventure yet to see all 50 states in a year in our last video we were in sioux falls south dakota where we got a little taste of paris at an award-winning patisserie took in some amazing waterfall views at sunset and had a night cap in a 100 year old bank ball this week we're in the peace garden state [Music] welcome to north dakota today we're exploring the state's largest city fargo and per usual we only have one day to do see and eat the best of what it has to offer so let's get it started with one of the best local coffee shops [Music] so i got a strawberry rhubarb scone which i'm really excited about and i got a carrot cake cookie of course black coffee and chai latte that looks so good look at the stoneware all right cheers oh that's so good this is it's not super spicy but it's got a lot of flavor this is really good i just got plain cup of black coffee they do offer pour overs chemex they offer arrow presses they offer french presses so lots of great options here i just went with the simple black drip coffee so look at the silverware it's wood [Applause] right this place is so good highly recommend loving what i'm having so far the stat plus i'm still waking up guys yeah same which is why i'm having this coffee plus the staff is super helpful super friendly highly recommend it y'all it is so windy windy here but like we said inside we 1 000 recommend 20 below it is really awesome the quality is great and the people were even better now we're going to go explore the area on e-bikes let's go [Music] hey oh i hope we get arrested that i make the good video no he's too nice [Music] me [Music] wow look at the viking [Music] a ship cage i thought you're gonna say a jail there used to be a traveling circus that would come through here every year and this is where they kept the bears [Music] all right we just finished up our e-bike tour with nature of the north and we had such an amazing time it was so awesome we feel super fortunate to have had john who is the owner give us our tour and he was a wealth of knowledge about the area and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity so if you're ever in the fargo area and you love outdoor activities definitely check out nature of the north contact john because he will definitely hook you up now we are starving and we're in front of an old tow truck station now turn chicken joint so let's go eat [Music] how do they know what is our order oh we got this is our table marker we got a little karate trophy here with some flames on it which for those of you that don't know natalie actually did take karate so she's very talented in the karate world i just want to say that i'm pretty legit i have a yellow belt in karate from perry huggins karate school in georgia legit i mean i don't want to brag or anything [Music] you guys know i'm a saucy kind of guy and this is my kind of place they have a list this long of all the sausage you can pick from we got their baby comeback sauce their hot honey and their sweet chili every one of them is so delicious so we just finished at brew bird and it was so good and we are so stuffed because the servings were massive the chicken was cooked so fresh i mean everything about it was delicious the sauces were amazing oh my gosh we can't recommend this place enough if you're in fargo come to brewbird but now we're gonna go check out the downtown area [Music] [Applause] [Music] guys this downtown in fargo is so cute you guys have to check it out there's tons of restaurants and stores and all kinds of stuff but matt wants to change his shirt after e-biking i use the pedal assist a lot and you don't sweat because you're a lady i am a lady but i would like to go freshen up a little bit all right so that's what we're gonna go do [Music] so [Music] all right so we just finished getting freshened up well really it was not well i physically freshened up and she mentally freshened up i did we're here in the radisson blue which is a really awesome matinet fashion we're running a little bit behind schedule we're about to go take a tour of an amazing brewery called drecker brewing [Music] all right so we're here with mark bjornstead the owner of drecker brewing and he's going to tell us a little bit about this place because as you see it is absolutely fantastic and he will say everything way better than i ever could i would butcher it so tell us a little bit about drecker park so this is drecker brewing company uh we like we kind of lovingly call this place brujala it's our vision of what that nordic viking beer hall should be like on earth and what we do up here you know the cold winter months or these fun summer days is dream up crazy fun weird beers and you know the weirder the better for us and we just believe that the rules are that there are no more rules in this stuff and so we've built this crazy band of misfit people that love getting weird love challenging the norms and and love just making beer that brings people together creates an experience and whether it makes you question how we did it or whether you like it or not we don't care we want you to we want people to think about what they drink we want them to have good conversations and if our beer is at the center of it and it catalyzes more of those moments that's what we're all about i love it i mean the fact that i'm drinking essentially a key lime pie beer you would not think this is a beer and as he said now you're getting it this is it's not exactly what you think of as beer it is the new beer and drecker is nailing it knocking out of the park you gotta come check this place out [Music] so we spent way too long here but i am not mad about it this place is amazing yes we sat and talked with mark for probably two two and a half hours and didn't even realize the time in the past we absolutely love it here in fargo one of the biggest things we've noticed with everyone we've talked to here is how intentional they are about building community literally everything that they do here the end goal is community gathering people building friendships and building your tribe yeah it's at the heart of this city and you can really feel it i mean the inside was just spectacular so warm you kind of felt at home there oh yeah it was just awesome if you're ever near here near here you have to make the drive and hang out here it's not just a brewery it is an experience and talking to mark you realize that from the start of this the whole birth of this idea it was never just about being a brewery it was so much bigger than that yeah and they're proving that today virgo you're killing it now oh yeah so we are absolutely late to our dinner reservation but we are not mad about it absolutely so that's where we're headed to now [Music] babe i'm definitely not gonna be able to finish mine yeah me either i'm stuffed go ahead one last bite [Music] oh my gosh i know we say this all the time but i am so full there's so many good restaurants in america there are and the best way to experience a place is by its food and oh my gosh prairie kitchen hit this spot it was so good oh yeah i had a pasta dish which was so good it was a gorgonzola and steak pasta dish natalie you had what i had the swedish meatballs they had a very nordic menu which was really kind of cool yeah we've really enjoyed that part of fargo is the whole nordic background and bringing that into really every aspect of the culture which has kind of been a cool thing because we don't have that in the south no definitely not it was really awesome also we got the rhubarb tart for dessert which came highly recommended for multiple people on the wait staff and it did not dissipate it was so good i've never had rhubarb before and it was so good it was something i never would have ordered myself but i'm so glad that they recommended it definitely check it out if you're here also when you're here you have to check out camp loan tree it was awesome they had fire pits and corn holes so it's on the rooftop of the restaurant they've got their own full service bar up there and it's all summer camp theme even the staff up there is wearing camp counselor shirts they had live music happening definitely worth checking out [Music] wow what an amazing day we get asked all the time what is a destination that you've been to that just completely took you by surprise and that's always a tough question but now we know fargo is at the top of that list for us we didn't really know what to expect but it exceeded everything that we could have imagined it to be our favorite parts of the day which we didn't really get to document was having the conversations with people and great people john from nature of the north and mark with drecker brewing getting to hear their hearts for people loving people and pouring back into the community of fargo was an absolute pleasure we really thought that fargo was just going to be on our bucket list and we got to check it off but we seriously cannot wait to come back but for now that ends our time here in north dakota and we'll see you next week in state number 36. we want to take this time to
