Norfolk-based USS Wasp moves to the Mediterranean

This afternoon, the United Nations Security Council demands that Houthi rebels halt their attacks on ships in mid east waters. Shipping has reduced drastically through the route crucial to Asian Middle East and European markets in a campaign. The Houthis say will continue as long as the war rages in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis have targeted more than 60 vessels in the waterway firing missiles and drones and this comes as military leaders announced that the Norfolk based US S Wasp and the marines aboard are being sent to the Eastern Mediterranean. Us officials say the move gives the military options as those tensions continue to rise between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanon border right now. The ship is on deployment in Europe. The Wasp will be joined by US S Oak Hill and US S New York.
