Noah Lyles VS. Zharnel Hughes! || 2024 Atlanta City Games

on May 17th of 2009 the streets of Manchester closed for a sprinting spectacle for the ages along with many other world-class athletes none other than Usain Bolt made an appearance to run a 1550m dash now building up to this event the newly constructed straight was unfortunately hit with rain for the previous few hours however the Jamaican Legend was not deterred because for this 150 M race he put forth the single fastest effort in history with a clocking of 14.35 seconds this time absolutely blew away the field and it marked the first time in history that an athlete had broken 14.5 for the 150 and man was used say bolt ever smooth with it this performance proved to be statistically speaking the fastest race of all time because compared to his previous 100 and 200 meter World Records his average speed throughout this entire race was 23.38% 62 kmph which is pretty unbelievable considering this was his average this showdown proved to be a huge stepping stone as just 2 months later in the world track and field championships he went on to break the world records in the 100 and the 200 M achieving times of 9.58 and 19.19 the 150 m is not a common distance in track and field but whenever the pros do step into this realm we often see lightning hit the track and that is exactly what we saw in last year's Adidas Atlanta City games when Noah L threw down a time of 14.56% which at the moment ranks him as the third fastest athlete in 150 history only falling behind bolts 14.35 and Tyson Gaye 14.51 and it's also noteworthy to mention that gays 14.41% so that time was certainly underrated this 150 race was a big showdown of many of the world's best talents you had lyes there was Aron n and finishing in second ferdin and Amala from Kenya in third place followed by Antonio Watson and nethanel Mitchell Blake from Great Britain and just like bolts race some 14 years earlier ly's 150 M win proved to be a big stepping stone to sprinting greatness in the world champs as he went on to win the ever elusive sprinting triple in the 100 the two 200 in the 4x100 M relay whenever someone manages to break 14.6 in the 150 M greatness is almost certainly just around the corner and speaking of 150 M races the 2024 installment of the Atlanta City games has no allal clashing against many of the world's fastest right now over this distance and trust me when I say that this race is stacked for this showdown LS will be racing against zar Carell Hughes the 2023 bronze medalist in the 100 and recent 19.9 6 athlete in 2024 there's aani sine the South African Legend who took down Christian Coleman and Fred Curley in this year's suia Diamond League meeting in the 100 there's Alexander ogando from the Dominican Republic a world championship finalist in the 200 with a quick personal record of 19.9 one and we will see Josephus lyes join the party a 19.9 3200 athlete whose 2024 season is really starting to heat up now this race is currently a big time event featuring compelling storylines right now is Noah lyes versus akane sine because so far in 2024 sine has not lost a single time in either the 100 or the 150 M for a South African National Championships he went three for three for the Clean Sweep with a beastly finals race of 10.01 but it was really his suja Diamond League meeting that caught my attention as he took down Fred Curley and Christian Coleman like a madman over the final 20 M again finishing in 10.01 into a slight headwind s's experience on the track has made him one of the most consistent sprinters of the previous few decades and it's only a matter of time before he wins a global medal in my opinion but it was really what happened in this year's World relays that caught my attention even more because in this event in the Bahamas he ran the second fastest 4X 100 split of the day anchoring his South African team with a time of 8.92 making him one of the very few athletes to break 9 seconds on the day and the only other athlete to run faster than S was none other than Noah ly who threw down another amazing anchor in 8.88 whenever Noah gets into his top form he is very difficult to take down and specifically looking into the 150 M he has a solid combination of strength and speed to tap into so if he has hit the stage of his season where everything starts to come together make sure to look out for a fast time now in addition to LY and S we also have solid competition for mandoo Josephus lyes and zarnell Hughes and given what he just did in Jamaica over the 200 I think Hughes might be the one to look out for as well so far this season Hughes has been steadily building he ran his sub20 in Jamaica and in the world relays he also managed to run under 9 seconds for his anchor leg for Great Britain and as we saw in 2023 Hughes can be very dangerous in both the 100 and the 200 M so the 150 could result in something super fast come this year's Atlanta City games and now I would love to hear from all of you who do you
