claim a vacant home just by living in it for a few years some squatters think you can and it's happening more and more in Tennessee when banks lose track of foreclosed homes tonight investigative reporter Ben Hall looks at the laws surrounding squatters the bank says you have no right to be here Jude Piske shocking reaction to our questions revealed he did not want to talk about how he took over a luxury Mount Juliet home got here Oh God we're backing up whoa leave God we're leaving right now the case raises questions about squatters people who just take over vacant properties this particular thing is happening more and more as banks are sometimes losing track of their properties and people are living on it attorney David Raven says the case is not as unusual as you might think our investigation found that Piske moved into the home more than two years ago despite having no legal claim to the property the banks that foreclosed on the previous owners essentially forgot about it allowing it to sit empty for years in Tennessee there is no such thing as waters rights it's a myth Biscay is apparently relying on the law of adverse possession he believes it will allow him to take ownership of the vacant home well this guy's getting his law from the Internet Google Google and Google is his lawyer and he's just wrong but Raven says that rarely ever happens and you must live at the property and maintain it for at least 7 years and in some cases 20 before there's even a chance of claiming it it's a lot more than two years and it's a lot more than just having something that was foreclosed on Piske actually paid the property taxes to keep the county from seizing the home but neighbors complained about the vehicles including a limousine and a boat parked in the front yard city officials wanted Piske out but couldn't find a bank willing to force him out it was just that it's all kind of dumbfounded as to how that happened how it took place Nationstar promised to evict Piske after we brought the case to their attention you know what I got say hi when did you move in don't matter none of your business but getting Piske to leave may take time likely through the courts and an eviction process I don't see this fella winning anything in court over this and I think he'll be ejected promptly by the courts and he's proven he can be hard to deal I go we're backing up whoa leave we're leaving right now don't ya Ben Hall News Channel five investigates Jude Pischke was arrested again this morning he bonded out on that aggravated assault charge last week but he is in the Wilson County Jail tonight for violation of probation
