hi everyone if you have seen the movie The Shawshank Redemption and you must probably have you know that jailbreak can turn into an exciting and incredible story [Music] and although the movie does not portray the real events history knows many cases when the prison inmates escaped showing remarkable ingenuity and inhuman persistence [Music] so stay tuned for the exciting jailbreak stories which deserve a movie adaptation here are unique people who stopped at nothing to escape from prison let's get it on [Music] a slippery escape to get to know our first hero we will travel back to 2012 when this story happened choi gap-bok lived in south korea and at that time he was 50 years old all his life he'd been practicing yoga so he was very flexible the police arrested him suspecting he stole a car a credit card and broke into someone else's house choi claimed he was innocent and he had no intention to stay imprisoned on september 17 2012 he pulled off a daring and shall we say slippery escape why slippery well choi waited until the guards in the corridor fell asleep applied the antibiotic all over his body and then squeezed through a narrow slot in the cell door used for serving food keep in mind that the size of this slot was 15 by 45 centimeters it's impossible for an ordinary person to squeeze through it but as we already said choi practiced yoga and was incredibly flexible [Music] the escape however was unsuccessful joy couldn't get far he hid in a cardboard box on the roof of the building not far from the Correctional Facility he was arrested again and placed in a Cell however this time with a smaller food slot peanutbutter prison breaks happened quite often half of them are carefully planned the other half occurred due to human error this story happened in Alabama United States when a new employee got a job as a guard in a local prison he probably knew that it would not be easy however he did not expect it to be that hard in 2017 the inmates decided 31st 12 prisoners escaped however they didn't enjoy their freedom for long within three days all fugitives were caught a failed Christmas miracle if someone asked prisoners from all over the world what they desire most we bet that the majority would answer freedom so in December 2016 on Christmas Eve a prisoner from Cocke County Tennessee received the most coveted gift a good idea of how to escape prison on December 25th early in the morning the prison guards noticed that there were suspiciously few people in the cell intended for almost 20 people the next thing that caught their to escape both were convicted of murder Richard Matt and David sweat were serving a life sentence so they had nothing to lose they managed to find accomplices among the prison staff who brought them electric tools bypassing the metal detectors on June 6 the convicts pulled off an extremely daring escape they managed to make a hole in the wall even though it was reinforced the men got out of the cells and then used the ventilation tunnels and hatches to leave the prison both criminals were armed very dangerous and unlike all the previous heroes of this video it was not so easy to catch them for three weeks the whole country watched the unfolding drama the US Marshal Service had included Matt and sweat on the list of the 15 most wanted fugitives in the country the criminals first wanted to go to Mexico but chose Canada instead the manhunt and investigation was said to have cost about 23 million dollars in the end the criminals were detained just a couple of kilometers away from the border Richard Matt died during the arrest David sweat got back to prison through the ceiling to freedom the media said the events of this escape remind the plot of an intricate film this story happened in America in Monterey County California the prisoners Santos Fonseca and Jonathan salads are were both murder suspects although the entire territory of the prison of course was guarded and under round-the-clock surveillance the men still managed to fool the guards Fonseca and sallets are somehow discovered a tiny dead zone in the bathroom which was not recorded by any of the many surveillance cameras on November 3rd 2019 at night the men spent several hours making a hole in the ceiling all this time they remained unseen and at 3 a.m. the two prisoners became fugitives although the hole was small only 20 by 56 centimeters Santos and Jonathan managed to squeeze into it through pipes and air ducts they reached the technical room and then left the building through the hatch in a couple of days however they were both detained attention to detail we would love to tell you something about lock-picking breaking through the prison and climbing walls like spider-man but alas everything is much similar 23 year-old Noah pizza no got his hands on some civilian clothing changed into it and then just walked out of prison yep you heard it right the security cameras captured Pizza nose progress from room to room as well as someone in the control room giving the prisoner access to the entrance by mistake correctional officers had to debrief the staff of the Pima County Jail after this incident Noah was caught the next morning his escape only made things worse for him his sentence was extended a similar story happened in New Mexico in 2017 prisoner Raymond Lopez found some civilian clothing and changed into it then he saw someone into the prison through the front door since it was unlocked the man took the chance and was right to do so a few minutes later he was on the highway and headed toward the nearest city there was only one thing he hadn't thought of not to raise any suspicion Raymond left his prison shoes behind the barefoot confused man however looked really suspicious and very soon Lopez was detained by local officers the funny thing is that the footage shows them talking to Raymond very politely offering help it never occurred to them that he was a criminal on the run as you can guess Lopez did not manage to escape in the end switching identities even though technically this man also simply walked out of prison in plain sight this story is a bit more complicated if a most cunning prisoner award existed in 2013 we would not hesitate to give it to rocky marques who is currently serving his sentence for drug smuggling in a Detroit prison he somehow managed to negotiate with another prisoner who was soon to be released on bail the criminals exchanged their identification brackets and that's how rocky easily left the prison posing as another person if you think that this can only happen once you are very wrong because that's exactly what Marquez had pulled off eight months before that in a Phoenix Jail in both cases however he was captured quickly a friend in need if you are a person with money and influence then escaping from prison is not that hard and your life can easily turn into a blockbuster this is what happened to Ray DeWine fade the 48 year old man is a French gangster a fugitive and was also the most wanted criminal in France in 2013 that was the array doline escaped from prison for the first time the story is famous for a large number of explosives involved and some prison guards having been held hostage a much more interesting escape happened however in 2018 three armed accomplices and believe it or not a helicopter helped the gangster escape first the accomplices use drones to carefully study the surrounding area and come up with a plan then on July 1st at 11:30 a.m. two armed men broke into the visiting room where ray Doan was talking to his brother smoke bombs helped the gangster sneak into the prison yard where a helicopter was waiting for him stolen of course along with the instructor from an airfield nearby the planned escape was successful and fade was caught only three months later now the man is in custody but to be honest we're waiting to find out what happens next an improvised escape patience careful planning and making deals with other prisoners digging holes thought about this criminal Brandon Lee Powell an Ohio inmate escaped on August 4th 2017 on that day the man under the supervision of a local police officer it was transferred from a psychiatric ward to prison when the situation got out of control far too quickly realizing that this may be his only chance to escape how will attack the van driver causing the car to swerve into a ditch in the confusion the criminal got a hold of a gun and forced the police officer to release him it's quite obvious what happened next of course the fugitive handcuffed the police officer to the car disabled the vehicles police radio took all the weapons and was gone a responsible criminal this story is somewhat different from the rest and this is what makes it so remarkable [Music] at the end of September in 2018 Indonesia was shaken first by a terrible earthquake and then by a tsunami there were many victims and destruction and unfortunately the jail in the city of Palo was critically damaged of course the criminals could not miss the opportunity to escape on that day about 600 people fled except for one man when the panic subsided andhe ahmad who was convicted for opening fire not only returned to prison to continue serving his sentence as it turned out later during the earthquake he also discouraged his cell mates from escaping when asked why he came back and he simply replied he had been in prison for six years and there was only one more year to serve why would he run away and San Francisco in 1934 in its 29 years only 14 escape attempts were recorded almost all of which ended in disaster for the criminals some were shot of his drowned and others were simply returned to the friend Frank Morris attempted to escape on June 11th 1962 by some miracle they got out of their cells climbs to the roof and then jumped into the cold water with dangerous currents they were never found dead or alive so it was generally assumed that no one had ever escaped from Alcatraz prison half a century later at the beginning of this year artificial intelligence allowed us to reveal the truth the visual facial recognition program was investigating photos from 1975 when in one of them had found the Anglin brothers in Brazil it was almost a 100% match in 2018 the letters allegedly written by one of the escapees came to light so it turned out that escaping from the Alcatraz prison was possible after all [Music]
