[Music] it's just Yuri and I'm going for a [Music] drive I'm here with the allnew never existed 20125 Mazda cx70 in Palm Springs doing a nice little solo review finally driving it and I've got some questions to answer right off the bat is this a cx90 with just no back row yes kind of they did change a few things we got different front bumpers rear bumpers A Towing mode Amazon Alexa and some cool storage in the back that you wouldn't have with a third row and then who is this meant for it's meant for like if you have maybe a family with one kid one dog or two older kids or if you just wants a big SUV to have a ton of trunk space cuz this is like a mid size two row SUV even though it is pretty much exactly the CX 90 and I get it because like what are you going to do call it a CX Grand 90 or a CX not Grand 90 for cx70 people want to buy SUVs so like I understand why they split it up and to make it more different they also did add a new color this cool one melting copper metallic which I absolutely love with the color matched cladding I'll get to that a bit later so I chose to drive the inline six so let's put it in and ask for subscribing sport mode and give it a little bit of a launch it's pretty all right power nothing like too crazy you can also get this in a plug-in hybrid or you can get it in a base 3.3 L turbo let's get to the horsepower and turque the 3.3 L turbo has 280 horsepower and 332 lb feet of torque the plug-in hybrid has up to 3 23 horsepower and 369 lbet of torque and the 3.3 l e Sky Active Turbo S which is what I'm driving right now has up to 340 horsepower and 369 lb feet of torque and every model comes standard with all-wheel drive and they all have the 8-speed automatic with a wet clutch torque converter system which works pretty well I'm in sport right now in these cool mountain roads just going to floor picks up pretty quick this one has normal Sport and off-road there's also a towing mode in certain versions with some dealer stuff so you might remember from the cx90 inline 6 that we had a little bit of like discomfort with the transmission tuning like it didn't feel perfect I spoke to the Mazda people they've been working on updates and tuning the transmission ever since all those reviews came out and I have good news nothing feels weird about this anymore they put in software updates so all the CX 70s that are being sold and I believe the CX 90s that are coming out now have this update where nothing feels weird anymore like I'll slow down I'll floor it if I come to a full stop and get back on the gas it doesn't act weird or anything like it did before so that's awesome and if you have a cx90 already I think you'll be able to go to the dealership soon and have them plug in and do a proper software update to make your transmission better and as smooth as this power is from the inline 6 I did drive the pav on the way back from the golf course where we had a driving lesson where I greatly improved my golf swing strong grip and aim for the logo so I don't slice side of that ball athletically moving forward I kind of like the plug-in hybrid power more it felt like a little smoother of a ride I don't know I like I like that you can be in electric as well a lot of the time it's got a 17.8 KW hour battery and lets you do up to 42 km of oil electric driving and I I feel like that's still the better powertrain or more pleasurable to drive just for a normal everyday driving but here's where the butt happens I love this color melting copper metallic I needed to drive this one for the review in the United States you cannot get color matched cladding with the plugin hybrid in Canada you can with the higher trim so that's why I drove the inline six because as much as I like the plugin hybrid I love the color match cladding now why doesn't USA have that that's just one of those things they didn't think those were the options people needed if you guys complain enough about it and I think you can you can get the color match cladding and the plug-in hybrid for next year so make sure you let Mazda know that's what you want and don't worry I have some complaints about Canada too mostly with interior exterior color combos coming up and then continuing with the looks how does this look different than a cx90 they look very similar here's how you can tell the front bumper and the side we've got black do Chrome instead of chrome chrome which I guess is a little more sporty I think it looks cooler we have a different Grill and then the most noticeable thing in the rear and in the front the little corners of the bumpers where like there's fake Air dams or fake vents that looks different than a cx90 in the back we also have a line across it there too and then on the inline six at the bottom of the bumper it'll be color match where on the plug-in hybrids it'll be silver and that's the best way that you can tell and I think the spoiler on this is also black not color matched but then back to the cladding all inline six-cylinders get color matched in Canada and USA let me know in the comments below what do you like more color match CL cling or non-color match claddings California cuz I feel like the color match cladding looks good like my CX5 doesn't have color match and now new 65s have color match and I'm kind of like jealous like I like it it just looks so good then these wheels nothing special about any of the wheels as far as I'm concerned they're all just all right normal Wheels nothing crazy but they look fine and the Continental recommended tire for a Mazda cx70 would be the cross contact Alx sport I actually the cross contact lx25 on my personal Mazda CX5 and right now there's a promotion going on with Continental Tire check out the link below they've got Visa gift cards that you can get when purchasing a new set of tires okay and then different stuff on the inside we now have amazona built into the cx70 all right it just popped up play serus XM channel 79 Sirius XM is not supported on this device so here's where my problem is I'm not going to use to control my house or anything I mean maybe if I lived with a car I would but I just wanted to do normal car stuff I can voice command the normal Mazda computer to get me to play Ser 7 sirusxm 79 which is the Beach Boys Channel this does have tune mix it does rewind awesome infotainment but to do that I have to sign out of Alexa so then Alexa is kind of pointless told the mods the people so hopefully there's a work around say a command play Sirus XM 90s on N tuning to 90s on N cuz if you long press the button then it just goes to your carplay which this does have wired or Wireless and Android auto and the best part is you can now touch your Mazda infotainment screen to control only carplay and Android auto you canot use it to control anything else like I can't click right now for these built-in Maps but I feel like that's fine cuz the most the main thing you want to do is like when as a call just quickly click answer instead of using your rotary dial which I love which is awesome I've been using this to navigate around Palm Springs it's so perfect like the home button the rotary dial getting from my Google Maps navigation in carplay if you have that up you click the navigation and it goes right to that navigation even though you have a built-in nav as well and then you hold the home button and it'll go from one screen to the other you can use everything very quickly and I love the Roto for getting through like the settings to turn on all your safety settings and all that stuff we have a ton of safety settings in this we got like the rear cross traffic lane departure assist all that fun stuff uh front Collision warning and then we also have adaptive cruise and Lane centering that worked very very well on these Palm Springs highways going like 70 mph which I think is like 110 kilomet an hour not really sure but it worked really well didn't bug me too much obviously I got to put my hand on the wheel but it's uh it's a reasonable amount of having you put your hands back on the wheel and which brings me back back to something I do want to complain about about this gauge cluster and stuff we do have a full digital gauge cluster cool looks really nice when you are in your adaptive cruise mode you see your digital Speedo in the middle at the top when you're not in that when you're in normal you don't see your digital Speedo anywhere unless you're using your head-up display you click info it only changes what's on the right I want to have my Speedo in the middle but if I'm in sport mode I see my Speedo in the middle or if I'm in I can activate the cruise mode to always be up and have the speedo in the middle but then it looks different I just want an option where it's in the middle but the P have lets you have the speed in the middle all the time maybe because it can drive electric it's just weird it's a weird thing that I want them to add some people don't want to use their head up display some people have polarized glasses and they just like looking at the digital speed you know what I mean but like my Mazda 65 at home we do have a red line on the speedometer that'll tell you what the speed limit is on the road reading the signs so you know you're not speeding if you like zone out and don't catch what the speed limit of the road you're on is which I think is good especially if you just want to drive slow take it easy and make sure you don't speed or get a ticket from the California Highway Patrol or whatever is patrolling Palm Springs so that launch I did was kind of weak let's turn traction off do a full brake [Music] boost nothing crazy off the line I don't really expect that much it's not like it's a Mazda speed or anything and uh there is some pumped in audio can you hear it sounds like pumped in audio it's not offensive let's see if it's there in normal feels like it's the same in both but at least it's not weird but when you're reversing you get a beep beep beep even in the non-plug-in hybrids which I guess is kind of okay the plugin hybrids did not seem very loud while they're backing up like a lot of the uh Toyotas and Hondas are beeping too loud ghost Cemetery style and we should probably listen to it from the outside and then as for suspension it's been pretty comfortable the whole time even on some of these like bumpier roads so that's also good for family car stuff and then for handling through these Palm Spring Mountain Roads it actually handles pretty well I wasn't sketched out at any point never really under steered or anything it just felt nice and solid maybe that's because of that rear wheeel drive architecture drivetrain that really helped pull it through all right a little bit of a rewind back to more Tech stuff this does have an app to control you know remote starting and all that stuff and and this also has like its own little OnStar thing where's the button for that maybe it's not this one but I feel like there is a new OnStar which also has a stolen vehicle assistant which is pretty cool it'll help you locate your vehicle not sure if the Toronto police will do anything to help recover it as we know from the news they were able to steal it back after they say police never showed up to the location where they tracked it down but what's good about Mazda is they seem to not be targeted as much as Toyotas and Hondas so if you're looking for a car and you live in Toronto you have to park it on your driveway this might be a better choice and then with this infotainment we have full climate control hard buttons down at the bottom it works perfect all our stuff is there heated seats ventilated seats heated steering wheel and if you look at this Mazda competition like an X5 they don't have hard button climates they have it in the infotainment which is another huge selling feature of why this would be better than certain BMWs did have some competition a BMW Alex and a Jeep that's like kind of competing with it but I guess m is like a weird thing where it's like almost BMW luxury but like way more luxury than like any of the normal ones and I guess it's like kind of higher than Acura or maybe round no I think it's higher than Acura maybe around there but not sportier than Acura we've got front and rear climate since it's not a cx90 we don't have uh third Zone climate anymore so if you're throwing the dog in the back they won't be able to get like like fresh air blown on them which kind of sucks and I think that vent now is just like a air pressure kind of thing so when you close the doors you know that's what that is it's not a vent anymore but feel like that's pretty Niche to have a dog in a trunk trunk for this so if you have a dog do you go cx90 let me know in the comments below how important is trunk climate if you have a dog that goes in a trunk my dog would sit in the front seat and absolutely shred apart this beautiful interior but uh my dog's a front seat kind of a dog shout out Rusty can walk without a leash now and sit listen to me give me high five sometimes that's pretty cool and as everyone should already know this visor will slide because Mazda listened to us and said we should put a sliding visor in all our new ones heck yeah and then compared to older mazas our 360 camera button is now located next to our shifter the 360 camera is very clear it's got the lines in the 360 Stitch but it's very good it works really well it pops up quick and I always like my 360 cameras it's a must for me for any car I buy for a family car my wife totally loves the 360 camera stuff then we have our shifter next to that okay it's not a normal shifter it's p over to the right R&D which I guess is good CU if you just like turn the car off it'll automatically throw in the park it's the electronic and in case you forget but I feel like I'd only forget cuz it's a weird shifter but it's not like a deal breaker at all and what's cool now is next to that we have our cup holders we don't have to reach back awkwardly anymore like in my CX-5 we have them right there and it is very very easy to fit a small cup pretty much perfect cup holders and in front of that wireless charging tray so before we talk about all this cool interior stuff and the seat Comfort we need to talk about the trunk because this car you're getting it so you could put more stuff in the trunk instead of having people sit in the very back at all this has a really cool uh storage system with lots of compartments to store uh pickle ball or whatever cool stuff you want in there you can fit full golf clubs there you can also drop the back row with buttons from the trunk which the cx90 doesn't let you do and when you do that if you reach in from the side door there's a little other panel that you can lift up and get other things out but I feel like if you're storing stuff under there you probably have stuff on top and then it's like hard to get to as it is but anyways we do have proper three-prong power in the back of this one the phabs I think have two three-prong power we do have grocery bag hangers there now it is a power lift gate we do have a close and close and lock button and then we still have the cup holders from the cx90 but like okay they didn't make new panels whatever like you can't like blame them like they don't have to change absolutely everything they they know it's a cx90 missing a back row they changed enough I think that it warrants them leaving the back cup holders in there so now continuing off the back we have a towing mode in some of these we can tow up to 5,00 ,000 lb if we have the inline six the big wheels or in the peev if you have the big wheels and the towing package from the dealership which adds a bigger transmission cooler does have a cool Towing backup assist that they're very proud of pretty much just a camera that's warped properly enough so you can back up and absolutely nail it and then they were very proud that the drive modes of this does lock the front and rear better when you're in the towing mode so you have more stability at higher speeds and then opens it up more when you're lower speed so it's easier to turn and stuff so it's cool that they thought about a lot of that stuff for towing now I guess this is one of the first things that has that Towing mode which is going to I guess roll out to probably cx90 and stuff like that too so back to this interior I did mention that there's a couple things Canada is doing wrong with their specs so as we're checking out the interior exterior specs for the American units hit up tsp. truecar.com to see how you can spec yours out if you're American and how the dealers have spec theirs out so far this has this cool tan interior with like this nice fabric on the dash which we touch way too much because it's just so cool it feels so luxurious looking at it you cannot get this interior matched with this melting copper metallic in Canada you can also not get the cool red interior with carbon fiber matched with the copper melting metallic in Canada but you can in the states so it's like all right in the States they're missing a couple Fender paint options where in Canada we're missing a couple interior exterior paint color options and apparently nobody can get the red interior with the red exterior I think they should let that happen I think they should let us do any ugly colors we want and I definitely think we should be bringing these Interiors with this paint to Canada for sure so let Mazda know Mazda Mazda Canada know that you want these Interiors with this paint and Mazda USA that you want color matched cladding options on all CX 70s with the Mazda CX9 Mazda cx50 Mazda Mazda ma Mazda so then these seats very comfy only forward and back lumbar which is all right cuz it is a good amount of Lumbar we at presets obviously because this is kind of like a luxury car you need that stuff and as we know from our cx70 walk around video the seats don't feel like a g-ring anymore even with the stripes still in the middle and Jacob does fit behind himself at 6'1 A2 which is great news we've got this cool material which my dog I think would absolutely destroy with his little pause but I think it would be worth it probably be tricky to clean juice from it from a kid if she's in the back making a mess stomping around with her dirty boots but I feel like it's worth the risk kind of like Teslas with white Interiors like it just looks so much cooler we got cool contrast dising on the door panel some fake wood and a two-tone steering wheel which looks super super sick then our rear seats will fit a child seat would fit my Britex popler perfectly we got built-in baby Shades which is amazing you really need that and then we've got a a panoramic moon roof which can be close if it gets too sunny and I really appreciate having that I love my panoramic sunroofs even though sometimes you know it's too hot like the second I'm done filming this I'm closing it cranking up the AC cuz uh Palm Springs a lot hotter than Toronto right now it's like 36 here which I don't know what that is in American I'm sorry I'm sorry and then back to safety stuff because if you have this you might be using it for your kids for family stuff uh the cx90 got IHS top pick so they're expecting this to have that too and I remember part of the reason I bought my CX5 was because they had a really high safety rating as well so I appreciate that I'm sure a lot of people appreciate that and the last thing before I get to the price you can get a cool roof rack with a tent that's part of like the lifestyle stuff they showed us here it's a pretty interesting setup I don't know if I would ever use it but uh cool all right with all that out of the way let's get to the price so the cx70 with a 3.3 L turbo the normal one starts at 49750 Canadian the plug-in hybrid starts at 58750 Canadian the E Sky Active Turbo S starts at 58,300 Canadian and this one the top trim is spec out to 62,6 Canadian and here's the price of it in American because this is technically an America only spec that we couldn't actually get in Canada because of the color combo so what do I think of this cx70 should they have made it something completely different or called it the cx90 non3 row that doesn't seem to make sense and I think they put in enough work with the different bumpers the different color maybe a few features that they're rolling out and the dark Chrome to make it its own thing I fully understand especially with like companies own to have more SUVs to sell I'm not mad at it at all my wife loves this car loves the interior loves the new updates to the Mazda and she would be very happy to dry something like this but if you're planning on expanding your family like if we were got one kid one dog we need a three row for the future this wouldn't be our pick but if you just have two kids or one kid and a dog this is great I don't really have any complaints I don't think like they kind of improved everything they needed to like if I could get this over a CX5 if they let me trade this in for my CX5 right now hands down no question would I take this over a cx90 looks-wise I think this looks better but going back to that three row I would have to go with a cx90 too bad they don't have this cool color on it though but yeah thanks for watching hope you like this inline 6cylinder Mazda cx70 review I know Jacob had fun doing a solo review with Alexis I heard he did a lot of burnouts so subscribe for that and hit up ts.trc car.com if you're looking for one of these get a cool spec get this color get the tan or the red thanks for watching [Music]
