all right so I got to try out the z63 and I was quite impressed by it and if you've come here to figure out if you should buy it or if you should buy the z62 or the Z8 this video is going to help you out before we get too into all the little details and specs and numbers we're just going to talk about what the Z 63 does it is better than the z62 it does everything the Z 62 does but better it even does some things better than the Z8 and z9 which I find pretty impressive considering the price of this camera now just getting straight into it the things that the Z 63 does better than the Z8 is this it has slightly bigger pixels it has a bigger or larger ISO range it has better low light autofocus sensitivity it has a faster frame rate when frame rate when recording at 1080P or HD it's also got longer video recording times which can come in handy it also has 2 million more dots in the viewfinder which is a huge number it's a big difference and we'll get into that difference bit further down in the video it's also got a longer battery life it is lighter and it's smaller so that's quite a lot of Pros over the Z8 and I have the Z8 I'm recording on it right now as usual and I've got the Z6 2 behind me and I've had to play with the Z6 markk 1 and obviously also the z63 all right let's get a little bit more into the details what are you gaining by getting the z63 over the z62 what are you getting for that extra money that you spend first off is the processors the z62 has dual xeed 6 processors whereas the 3 has xeed 7 processors just one and that difference in processes obviously it doesn't sound like that much going from 6 to 7 but it is a huge increase in the speed that the camera will calculate the autofocus so you'll notice a much bigger change in how accurately and quickly your camera can track and lock onto subjects while we're on the topic of um subject detection the Z 63 also now has 3D tracking and can detect up to nine subjects I don't use the 3D tracking features that much on my Z8 and some people will find it really useful I personally don't use it that much but it's a handy feature to have still on the autofocus you now get nine autofocus modes which now includes plane tracking which is pretty cool if you do Aro photography I haven't really done AO photography I never really use any of the subject modes other than people and sometimes pets if I'm taking photos of my dog we've also now got up to 6K 60p raw which is awesome for videographers speaking of videographers I think the flip screen on the new z63 is going to be much more geared towards videographers I find that I use a flip screen quite a lot if I'm doing video it's a little bit more handy to have than the tilting screen on the Z 6 to the Z8 has a tilting screen that tilts upwards and also tilts sideways when in portrait orientation which is really handy I kind of wish that the Z 63 had had a Flippy and tilty Screen just like the alpha 7 R5 which is pretty cool but the alpha 7 R5 does not have anywhere near as nice a LCD or viewfinder as the Z 623 or 8 or n um the viewfinders and displays on the Z series are very nice speaking of viewfinders the Z 63 has a 4K knit brightness viewfinder with the maximum and that is insanely bright I turned it up to the maximum just for fun and held it up to my eye in like a normal well lit area and it was bright it was too bright it was almost hurting my eye I had to turn it down so it is definitely the brightest in fact I think it's actually the brightest viewfinder in all mirrorless cameras the z63 now has 299 single Focus points which is super handy for those really complex compositions when you're trying to move a little um autofocus Dad into a really specific spot on the screen the z62 only had 273 points um which is still a decent number but not as high as the z63 this is pretty crazy the iso so the base native ISO of the z63 um can go up to 64,000 which is quite high but that can be extended to 24,800 whereas the Z8 for example the base native ISO goes up to 25,600 that's a big difference the z63 goes up to 64,000 little bit more in the video specs which I forgot to mention before is that the z63 can now do 240 frames per second at 1080p which is a bit faster actually quite a lot faster than what the Z8 can do at 1080p obviously the Z8 can go up to 8K in raw but uh having that 1080p for smaller file sizes while still having very nice slow motion is going to be handy for a lot of videographers especially for posting social social media content as normal The Flash sync speed is 1200th of a second we have a partially stacked sensor now as well now what that means is it's basically not quite a fully stacked sensor like the Z8 and z9 the stack sensor allows for much faster readouts when you're taking photos and having a stack sensor is very expensive so having a partially stack sensor is not as expensive obviously cuz it's partially stacked instead of fully stacked but you still get that speed boost for the sensor readouts so it's a lot faster than the Z 62 not as fast as the Z8 and the price reflects that otherwise you may as well get a Z8 if you wanted to pay the price for that so just like the Z8 the z63 can now do pre-release capture which is really handy it can only do it in JPEG but it's super handy if you don't want to miss any moments that are very high stakes happens once don't want to miss any shots you can do pixel shift now which is really cool great for landscape photographers so if you want to set down your camera in a tripod and your camera is basically going to be ever so slightly Shifting the sensor I think that's how it works they shift the sensor a little bit and it just brings a whole bunch more information detail color dynamic range into your images for a much cleaner really high megapixel image much bigger file sizes though so far I think the Z 63 is winning over the Z8 terms of memory card slots just like the Z8 the z62 not the ZF that's a bit funny the z63 has a CF Express type B or xqd as well as an SD card slot and the z63 is compatible to uss2 cards which is Handy for those faster um buffer cards if you're doing maybe Wildlife or Sports Photography um while I was talking about the ZF quickly in case you didn't know ZF has a uh fulls sizee SD but then a Micro SD as a secondary card slot which I thought was interesting as expected touchscreen LCD it's 2.1 million dots which I'm pretty sure is the same as the z63 oh looks like we're back on the viewfinder again the viewfinder has got 5.76 million dots that's a lot of dots the Z 6 2 and the Z8 is far less I think it's about 3 million from memory and you cannot see them you can't see the dots so I've used the alpha 7 R5 and the a74 and 3 you can see the dots you hold the camera you hold the viewfinder up to your eye you can see the pixels it actually looks kind of like a TV screen up against your eye which is what a lot of photographers especially those going from DSL to mirrorless hate about mirrorless is that it looks like a TV screen but the z62 you can kind of see it a little bit if you're if you're thinking about it Z8 when I got that I was like wow it looks like real life it doesn't even look like a TV screen it was very natural on the eye the z63 is very nice it's a very natural and easy to use viewfinder and just like the other fullframe mirrorless Z Mount cameras it's the en1 15c batteries which um I haven't tested it with after market batteries I know that the z62 and the Z6 will work perfectly fine with nickon batteries and also aftermarket batteries but I know for certain that the Z8 does not like aftermarket batteries I haven't had the chance to check if aftermarket batteries or third party batteries work in the z63 um it's got the same weather ceiling as the zed8 and the zed99 so you don't have to worry about getting splashes of rain and little bit of water on it here and there dust as well shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're using the mechanical shutter your frame rate will max out at 14 photos per second whereas if you're using the electronic shutter it's going to be up to 20 in raw still which is quite nice you can then push that further to 60 photos per second in jpeg or 120 frames per second in jpeg with a DX crop our maximum shutter speed is now 116,000 of a second which is fast enough to literally stop a bullet we've also now got eight stops of vibration reduction or image stabilization which is actually the best out of all of the Z Mount cameras which is saying something considering this is the Z 63 and it's got better stabilization than the Z8 and the z9 that's pretty cool z63 is temperature resistant down to -10° C in case you live in like Antarctica although Antarctica I think gets a bit colder than that something cool is that you can now customize the picture control on the Z 63 well not now do it you've always been able to do that since the release of the Z6 three um so what that means is you can basically go on to the Nikon Studio that's what I've got here on the notes and you can actually download custom film simulation presets or just picture control presets that you can add into your camera which will affect the look of the images kind of similar to how the new Fuji cameras can let you choose what film preset to apply to your photos while you're taking them in camera which is pretty fun now on the Z 63 you have all of the same buttons that you had on the z62 however the location of two of the buttons have been moved so that it matches the Z8 which I find really really good as I have the Z8 and I use the z62 as my secondary camera and swapping between the two sometimes having two buttons in different places can be a little bit annoying but easy fix the z62 has the burst shooting mode on the bottom right and the playback button on the top left whereas the Z8 and now the Z 63 have those two buttons reversed so the playback buttons on the bottom right just like the Z8 and the burst shooting modes are on the top left I like that it's consistent with the Z8 makes it very very nice if you have both of those two cameras they'll work very very nicely together I forgot to mention before you've also got a fullsize HDMI on the z62 you've got I think it's a mini HDMI mini HDMI micro something like that where you have a much bigger fulls sizee HDMI on the Z 63 which I think is really nice again it's sort of unifying it with the Z8 so you can use the same cables that you have with the Z8 on the z63 forgot to mention as well on the z63 you've also got the um display which now shows some readouts of your memory cards and storage when the camera is off which I think is really cool the Z 62 does not oh well the Z 62 has the display but it doesn't show those readouts of the the storage whereas the Z8 does you you've got the nice little Z 63 logo on the top there which you know just Aesthetics looks kind of nice I would honestly probably recommend the Z 63 it's smaller lighter cheaper it's better ISO range it's got a whole bunch of features that are better other than the megapixels if you want the megapixels I'd go the Z8 obviously and if you have really big hands and you like the ergonomics of the Z8 which by the way are really really nice I'd probably go the Z8 but if you want to save the money and still get really really good features z63 is definitely the way to go so I guess this has been my first like camera review on this channel hopefully you liked it hopefully I was concise and didn't confuse you too much about what camera you should get or about the z63 I'm not sure if I'm going to do more of these videos if you want me to just like and I'll try and do some more videos or otherwise comment if you want me to do something else I've only really just started this channel so hopefully you get something out of it I'll see you in the next one
