Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II - Harder Better Faster Stronger

somewhere in londinium in munch opulence i come out of a closet not like that point at random stuff and look at a couple brand new nikons nikons for the wrong ones out there it's a double whammy i've got a brand new nikon z6 mark ii and the z7 mark ii right here now this is interesting because this could quite possibly be the first time that nikon is using mark in one of their model names just a quick note for anybody who has noticed i'm wearing just one rubber glove chairman it's actually a requirement for me to use this to touch the brand new gear so what exactly is new with the new gear let's take a look what are the mark 2s look pretty much the same as the og z6 and z7 the stuff that has been improved is inside of the camera and perhaps the big key improvement is the dual xp processors which just makes everything faster more accurate smoother harder better stronger whatever anyway you're probably wondering what am i doing in this hotel room and yeah i kind of wonder the same thing too but hey i'm not complaining for those single card slot complainers nikon has addressed that problem by putting an extra uh s2 slot next to the xqd one [Music] you've got two new auto focus modes there you've got smiley face on top of the focusing zone and a picture of a cat on top of the focusing zone so that's the eye and the animal af apparently it's mainly designed for cats and dogs nyf but would work with other animals time to take the z6 mark ii and test that face and eye af on subjects not with face half covered oh here we go oh no she's gone it's on bone market out on the street with the z6 mark ii with a hotel mask on oh so silky smooth and five star like for getting a mask is the focus silky slick quick though previously i mentioned that i wish the z6 and z7 had 3da of tracking now the mark 2s don't have 3df tracking but they say it's as good as 3daf tracking that's one of the improvements with the mark 2s is that the afn tracking is improved thanks to that processor now the dual xp processor means you've got improved af in video mode you've got iaf and noaa if there's no animals in this room right now just me and my eyes so we can test that out yeah how far away can i go um about that it still does pick on the eyes sometimes but still knows that there's a face there the continuous focus works well it stays focused on my face it's pretty smooth when tracking the subject and it didn't get distracted and fyi that's how big your face needs to be in the frame for the iaf to pop which is decent the mark ii's air feels lively not encountering any focus issues and those slacking in low light well it's sensitive down to -6 ev which they say is good for quarter moon light lighting useful if you judge your scenes by moonlight quarters otherwise iaf works well even when the face is at an angle and i find the video continues auto focus very reliable not confused by something in a brighter background or obstructions it's good that af has been tweaked improved because i really like the colors of the nikon i like images that you get from the nikon zeds [Music] they've added 4k60 the z7 gets it from launch and the z6 gets it with a firmware update in february don't ask why it's just how it is there is a slight crop in 4k 60 but the image stabilization same as the z6 and z7 is fantastic even with 7200 at 200 handheld it looks very stable does it offer 10 bit video well not internally externally yes but what you want to know is does it do internally and no it doesn't as we said the z6 and z7 mark ii are more incremental updates just to refresh the z6 and z7 with mainly performance tweaks with a bigger buffer increased burst rates and flash support at those burst rates you have vertical grip options you've got the mbn 11 which is brand new which will be available on launch which will be from that already good grip as well as give hot swappable power if you already got a z6 or z7 then you'll probably have to think quite hard whether this is really going to be an upgrade for you but if you want a nikon and there's every reason to with a zed system the lenses are magnificent and i really like the images you get from them the mark ii's updates are not big splashes but i can see that they're made to minimize the reasons not to get nikon right now but where does it fit into the full frame lineup i mean interestingly they're still gonna be selling the z6 and seven i think nikon has got it right on with the z5 it's a lot of the stills capabilities of the z6 and cheaper body with an affordable price the z6 and z7 mark ii is all about leveling the playing field a bit more something in the middle and on the mid to high end with z7 mark ii we'll just have to wait and see about the proper high-end stuff but for now these mark 2s are more than enough to wet the appetite unless you're very hungry you

I've been holding on to my D850 for awhile now, as it has not been worth updating. These few changes, however, might be what I have been looking for. As a primary landscape and wildlife photographer (not a pro, yet) the dual cards is something that I've been wanting in the next gen. 45 megapixels as always been enough for me, as I usually print 40x60 or smaller, and the d850 was always more than enough. Just waiting to see an honest-to-god autofocus review on wildlife.

Lots of serious mask wearers in this video. Camera might be okay but after price drop. D810 cashes out on another of it's 9 lives.
