night shifters ever witnessed a paranormal activity if so what was it not me but my mum who has worked in a care home for the past 30 years she often talks of weird hot and cold spots appearing out of nowhere and phantom whistling throughout the building there's also been occasions where she's heard people screaming for help gone to the residence nearby and they're all asleep the freakiest story she told me though was one night when she was cleaning the toilets oh the glamour when she felt her presence next to her she turned around to see in person's legs brogues and cord trousers clear as day her eyesight came level with the person's knees and they just disappeared like that she was pretty shaken up after that i was covering a coworker shift had worked my usual two to ten now was staying awake overnight until 7am this was a group home for disabled teenage girls i did my half hour bed check and had sat down to check off the paperwork all sleeping the usual i saw movement at the end of the hallway one of the girls wearing blue and white pjs just standing there the features were hard to make out so i called out softly and she darted back into the bedroom i walked down and opened the door to make sure she made it back in bed only both girls were sleeping and that's when it hit me no one was wearing blue and white pjs when i asked the first shift lady in the morning she said sadly that i wasn't the only one to see the blue and white pajama girl we had lost three residents in that home prior to my hiring not our fault but one little girl couldn't seem to stay away unbelievable timing for this question i work at home depot night stalking and i work with my friend jamel hoss really religious and out of nowhere one day one near the front and the door automatically opens and closes we walk over and no one or nothing is outside it happens again and we watch and that was it we joked and went to hardware a few hours later and the motion camera went off twice with no one anywhere near it he witnessed it too eventually we were throwing out the cardboard at the compactor and we heard knocking on that big garage door with a chain for when trucks come went outside no one we laughed about it creeped out and i then went home and fell asleep and woke up to my barbel head from on my desk on the ground along with a picture from on my shelf of my brother i never met on the ground it wasn't in a frame but it's been there for well over two years and hasn't moved at all what's creepy is that coworker asked if i believed in ghost a couple weeks ago too i've had several over the years i spent the better part of 17 years working nights at various jobs this experience spans a period of five or so years and for me transition from active duty military to civilian work for the military doing the same job in early 2003 fresh to a military base i was sent to add temporary assignment to the base military police now mind you i didn't go to school for mp i was a fueler two or three months into that i was assigned a loan post for a remote gate overnight because there was training active and they needed immediate access in case of emergency i was alone it was maybe 1 30 a.m the nearest houses were over a mile away the post is sandwiched between two freeways and a road nothing else for a mile or so north or south maybe five miles east slash west all of a sudden i hear kids laughing and playing loud like they're within a few hundred feet or less fast forward an hour and the road sergeant tries to sneak up on me from inside the base didn't work but close bracket he stops i use the porto potty i come back he asks about the kids laughing thinking it was me i explained what i've heard he spends the better part of an hour looping the freeway around us thinking a car was broken down never finds anything we hear the kids two or three more times but never find anything fast forward late 2008 i take a position at military police again this time as a civilian a month or so into the job some of the marines are talking one day either before or after shift this little kid's ghost story pops up one of the corporals had relayed it to them apparently to scare them i immediately chimed in and said that was me seems occasionally someone would hear them again 2009 i'm out on a dirt road unlocking a gate and the marine in riding with says those fg kids bro it's like 3am we are two miles farther east into the base from that gate sure enough middle of nowhere kids giggling got a few other stores from the same base and retail work after our left government service my dad works nights i'm not sure if this was at night and it wasn't necessarily scary the one person he got on with at his workplace was the security guard unfortunately he passed away my dad looked in his top drawer on his next shift and found a note in there from the security guard written a few days earlier telling him to have a good day or something just remembered a spooky one actually i can't remember if it was my dad or his colleague that saw this though so they walked past the break room and saw an old lady in a green pinafore kind of dress in there they said hello thinking maybe it was a cleaner about to go home or something they mentioned it to someone the next day i think their boss and said oh i didn't know we had a new cleaner he described how she looked to the boss and the boss asked about certain features the boss pulls out his wallet and shows him a picture asking if this is who he saw it was the same woman turns out that's the boss mum who had died recently before sitting in my lounge on a monday night watching telly and smoking a joint when i noticed a black shimmer-like spirit thing come down my hallway i froze and wondered etf i had i seen about half hour later i went to my kitchen to empty the washing machine and the machine was in the middle of my kitchen and facing the opposite way with the cord still in the socket called my neighbor to witness it and it took him a while to help me put it back under the counter it had a huge cement block in it ran a bar for a few years that had been closed for 10 years prior quite a few homeless people died there while it was closed but when we reopened weird things would happen all the time on multiple occasions pizza pans would go flying across the room i would check the cameras to see who was doing it but there was never anyone there that place freaked me out at night i'm normally a deep sleeper but one night i woke up due to a tap on my leg i looked over and there was a little boy standing at the foot of my bed crying i live in the middle of nowhere so it scared me at first but i have had many of these experiences so i asked him his name he immediately stopped crying then disappeared while staring straight into my eyes i was closing my restaurant one night it was me and a delivery girl alone in the building as i was working on my close-out paperwork i heard loud sobbing start up in the bathroom i went and knocked on the door and asked mariah if she was okay crying stopped but she didn't answer i thought maybe i had embarrassed her so i went back to the office a few minutes later the crying started again really loud wailing she sounded like she was really going through something i went back to the bathroom unsure of what to do i stood there for a few minutes before trying the door and finding it unlocked in the bathroom empty i looked for mariah and couldn't find her called her to find out she had clocked out without telling me and left 30 minutes prior i finished my close in record time and got the hell out the next day i told my boss about it and he said he thought the empty land to the back of us had been a cemetery at one point worked at a small call center for insurance so there were only about six other people doing night shift with me on the regular one day a slow day it was just me and my other friend we'll call her bianca bianca got a call from someone reporting an accident and the call went something like hi i've been in an accident a semi-driver hit me i think i'm okay everything just feels fuzzy it was customary to ask time and location and the time that the girl gave bianca was a couple minutes into the future so we just figured this girl was in shock but took down the time she started anyways she got the girl's name call her amy and finish the report bianca told me about her phone call and in the middle of it i get a call a semi-driver reporting an accident same exact location as the previous caller time was the same but at this point had happened a few minutes ago so the time was logical and get this paramedics had already arrived on scene and pronounced the girl fatty if the semi-driver hit his door and the id found in her wallet had her name as amy t.l doctor call center gets accident report from a dead girl about an accident in the future [Music] in my twenties i was renting the basement suite of an old victorian house in calgary i was in the living room arguing with my bf and i stomped into the kitchen to have a smoke i was facing my front door which was dead bolted i saw a man standing in front of it he looked to be from the 1930s holding an old fedora hat in his hands anxiously and he smiled at me like please don't be afraid i turned my head and frantically yelled my bs name then whipped my head back the man was gone we checked the door dead bolted and the windows all locked there was no reasonable explanation for his appearance and disappearance i'm sure this will get lost but my dad used to work as a maintenance supervisor at an apartment complex the complex had about five buildings all connected by parking lots and drives surrounding the complex was a few side streets that would connect one from the south and one from the west to the north was a pleasure and northeast east was an open field but just to the west between the two side streets was a series of grassy knolls that were marked as protected land my dad had told me that he suspected that the complex was built on a native american burial ground or directly next to one at the very least he wasn't told this in a matter of fact but he began to believe it more and more the longer he worked there mind you at the time we lived in one of the apartment buildings in that complex one time we were chatting after he got home from work and he told me he was a little shaken up about his day apparently when he was painting one of the vacant apartments he got a really weird feeling like he was being watched he shrugged it off and went on his business out of the corner of his eye he saw something but couldn't tell what it was i guess he slowly turned around to see a little native american girl with a noose around her neck hanging from the ceiling my dad is a shorter guy but he said the bottom of her feet were around his eye level so around five and a half feet i asked more but to be honest i don't remember much this happened maybe 10 or so years ago and i was young i just remember he told me he would see or hear other things like objects moving on counters hearing knocks and doors opening slash moving children laughing and playing spooky stuff worked at an assisted living home on the night shift i lived in the basement department of the place and had a handheld camera walker talkie that could switch to see all the cameras mostly you just switched between cameras to make sure no one was wondering and only went upstairs if someone had fallen or gotten up we were caring for this super tiny old woman she was coming up on 100 and weighed like 60 lbs she fell a lot so it was easy for one person to pick her up and move her back in bed it happened at least two times a week one night shift i was clicking through the cameras and saw what i thought was her standing in the hallway it looked like a small short person who was looking right at the door to her room just staring not moving as soon as i saw her standing in the hallway i heard the sound of someone falling from upstairs ran up the stairs expecting to see her in the hallway she wasn't there she was in her room and had rolled off her bed when i got her back into bed she kept asking who was standing in the hallway noped out of that job a few weeks later because i hated how often people asked about someone who wasn't there among other things my wife and i were hanging out at a pottery studio one night we were the only people there and i had a key to the place i had locked the front door which had a characteristic squeaking noise when it was opened i was putting some handles on some mugs and my wife was hand building some small items when we heard the door open it was about 10 30 p.m nobody should have been there cautiously we went to investigate and heard papers rustling in one of the main offices even though the lights were off and we didn't see anyone slash anything through the windows i tested the door which was still locked we packed up our stuff and left as quickly as we could we never stayed late after that one of the teachers there had a story where he had been there late at night once and saw someone walking into the back storage part which was in the dark he didn't bother investigating either i did guard duty back when i was in the marines at a headquarters building that used to be a hospital i was on the night shift and had to walk around every hour or so it had long hallways with windows on either side with darkness outside and light in the hallways this meant that i had reflections walking with me as i would walk i swear a couple of times i saw reflections that weren't mine were more than one person or my reflection would go missing in random windows out of the corner of my eye also you would hear doors down the hallway closed randomly from time to time with no explanation [Music] not long ago i worked for a roofing company in a small town in the middle of nowhere and i was doing a job on a very big house that took about a week so the first day we were there it's around 12 p.m and the guys and i were on brake chillin in front of the house suddenly a real creepy and extremely loud alarm goes off coming from the house and we couldn't get it off till the police arrived the homeowner came to the house and looked very suspicious at us because the only way that alarm would go off is if someone entered the house and didn't enter a code we explained that no one entered his home that it just went off by itself the second day i'm charging drill batteries in the garage and i hear what sounds like a lady cheerfully singing inside the house so i thought it might have been the homeowner's wife even though i've never seen her next day i get off the roof and go behind the house to get a drink of water from the hose as i'm drinking i hear a plate slash cup break inside of the house and what sounds like a frustrated woman i go back to the crew and told them that i think the homeowner's wife is pissed off inside and they tell me that they are pretty sure no one's inside the house then i explained that i heard her singing yesterday when i was in the garage while we are discussing it we were cut off by the alarm that suddenly went off again i was kind of creeped out about it but i didn't say anything it took the homeowner 30 minutes to get there and he seemed agitated when he did and asked us if anyone tried to go inside we all said no then i said that maybe it was his wife that set off the alarm he got a weird look on his face and said that's impossible my wife killed herself seven months ago i apologized then said maybe your daughter he looked at me like i was crazy and asked why i assume there's someone in his house which then i explained everything i heard coming from inside the house he looked at me like if i was lying and he said no one's lived in the house since the suicide took place i then just shut my mouth he then told us that one day he was pulling into the driveway from work and saw his wife just standing by the front door in the dark when he opened the car door he noticed she had a gun in her hand which she then placed under her chin and blew her head off i won't lie i was relieved when we finished that job because everything had a sinister feel after all that information i used to work at a psychiatric care unit a few days earlier a man frank had taken his own life i don't want to get into too many details but the weeks before he had been manic unstoppable the few days before his death he was extremely depressed the last days when he was depressed he kept telling me he wanted to get out of his room out of the facility for some time so we tried to do that and i made a lot of walks with him in the area it made him feel a bit better but that one sentence he kept saying i want out of here really stuck with me i was so sad he passed away and talked a lot to his family they were obviously very sad and also told me the opportunities he had to get out were really important to him those nights were weird the night shifts i had before were filled with a lot of conversations with frank and we really had a connection the night shifts after his death felt a bit strange to me empty somehow i missed frank and my colleague had to help out on another unit a lot so i was alone i talk to myself especially when i'm alone because sometimes it creeps me out and talking to myself makes me more at ease so i passed frank's room and said something along the lines of i miss you frank i really hope you're at peace now and that you're out the door clicked and opened slightly i thought another patient had somehow opened the room and got in there when i checked no one so i shut the door figured it was broken because the pusher is that the right word the thing that makes the door close by itself had been bent because of the situation that happened there i do another round frank's door is open a bit again i check out the room close it again push it to make sure it's not the wind opening it it was closed so i continue later i passed it again door is open that's when i really got anxious i checked the cameras if anyone did this intentionally there was no one to be seen on the cameras so i talked to my colleague they mentioned they closed the door too but thought i forgot so we inspect it again sometimes other patients tend to go to the rooms of people we lose but the weird thing is everyone was sound asleep it was a very quiet night my colleague and i decide to leave the room open open the door and see what happens i swear the door kept opening a little more and every time we pass it there's no one there by the end of the night the door is completely open and staying that way by morning i walked into the room checked it again nothing the next day his family comes over they collect his belongings and by the time i get there for my next night shift his room is empty the door didn't open anymore it could be my imagination but i truly believe frank went home with his family the door didn't get any work done that day it was just fine and stayed closed finally i can tell this story it happened maybe five years ago i was second shift at a shitty strip mall and i was doing my rounds it was a somewhat foggy night and i was turning in an open part of the parking lot one second i was all alone next second someone jumped in front of my car i hit the brakes and jumped out the car to check on said person there was no one there i looked everywhere no blood no damage no nothing i was freaked out drove away and just parked at the opposite side of the lot till my shift was over every now and then i'd feel a full hand ass grab and i'd whip around ready to beat the hell out of whoever thought it funny only to discover there was no one there eventually just started asking the apparition whom i referred to and handyman to keep it professional or my booty would quit and i [ __ ] you not it stopped i work at a gold mine one night at like 2 a.m there's a call over the radio help pick up on fire gold hill i was in a water truck so i drove out to the area of the call nothing supervisors are driving around frantically looking in the area nothing after about two hours and every pickup being accounted for on the entire miner's it was the fire alarm lifted they even checked the radio calls from that night and the radio that called and didn't exist stood as gate guard overnight on an overseas base an old japanese guy in wwi military attire walked up and just sort of stared past us for a minute he said we shouldn't be there and asked us to leave i started to respond but one of the japanese security guards in the booth behind me put a hand on my shoulder and silently bid me follow him back to the booth we sat in the booth until he left i never learned who he was or why we shouldn't talk to him my first pro job out of college was working at the hospital as a retech i got called in late night because i was on rotation and fix some random computer issue i don't remember what on my way back to the data center there was a man covered in burns from head to toe like freddy krueger his skin is red as blood pushing a broom down the hall we locked eyes and he made the hat tipping motion towards me after that initial half second of surprise i was like cool he's rehabilitated and getting back to work and leading a normal life good for him i mean i'm in a hospital i can expect some weird [ __ ] like that and i'm usually pretty unflappable anyway the next day i'm talking to the other people about the night shift issue and i casually mention the burned man all of my coworkers pay attention because this seems very interesting to them so they ended up asking my boss who also got interested in the burned man and we all started asking around to see who they were and what the story was we were then told after investigating it thoroughly that there is no person on staff in the hospital who is a severe burn survivor like that i never encountered the burned man again i don't know if he was a specter or if he was a warning to me i left the hospital not long after this and moved in with my career but if he's out there thank you for the story and i hope he is doing well not technically the night shift but we lived where we worked at my summer theater job we slept in these really old dorms on a college campus i was terrified at night because i just felt like there was something in my room with me my blinds would go up out of nowhere the vinyl sheet blinds that you have to pull to make them go up it got so bad there were a few nights where i would sleep with the lights on finally got a salt lamp night light from five below and it made it less scary supposedly that building used to be a nursing home but i've never been able to confirm if that's true or not also where i went to college if we would be in the costume shop basement at night we would sometimes hear footsteps from upstairs but all the other departments would have already left we tried to always work in pairs because that theater
