i can't remember the exact song one time i was cleaning my kitchen y'all was mopping my kitchen floor and i had it was a it was a bethel album that was on and i don't recall which song it was but it was like jesus just came into my kitchen and um so i think these moments can just be so sweet and just right where we are but i remember going through a period of life where it was like i had to i mean not detach from emotion but just decide that i'm not going to be ruled by it that i'm going to set my eyes on jesus and live by faith walk this out by faith and and you know i feel like we really don't experience god in in the fullness until we walk through suffering and tragedy and loss and experience him in that way but um but continuing to live by faith and worship a god that we can't see but oh man i have felt him i feel him in my soul and the peace that he brings the joy that he brings in the midst of sorrow um you know he is he is our life he's our very breath yes back in the late 90s a long time ago um you know david and i we were uh worship pastors we had given our lives to the lord to the ministry and um always you know walked with the lord but there was a you know the this time when when we experienced god to in a degree that we never had before and it completely wrecked us you know we um we were in our church there outside of chicago and um we had a guest speaker in who was really had been experiencing just the outpouring of the holy spirit in an incredible way in his ministry and as he just be stepped up to just share he just began weeping the minister did and it was like the glory of god just fell in the room and it was something that that we had never experienced before and you know we just laid before the lord weeping i mean so my husband tells a story of how he was like there was no song that he knew that was appropriate for the moment it was like there was he's like i haven't had nothing in my arsenal that was spitting for this moment and just so he was under the we had a big grand piano in that church and he was just under the piano for hours and we were just sitting at the feet of jesus i mean just just weeping under the glory of god the weightiness of god and and that that experience was really um the the the beginning of just a new life for us and not like we can't go back to church as usual we can't go back to you know just erect us for the glory for the manifest presence of god i'm no longer satisfied with just going through the motions and you know having a great little church service or a great you know life i have got to have the manifest presence of god in my life and um and so that was such a turning point for us um and yeah it's it's it's different the manifest presence versus yeah god is everywhere but um but man when we begin to uh really you know magnify him you know give sacrifice to him he we experience him very very present with us but yeah the glory of the lord it's a wrecking ball [Laughter] you know sometimes i think it comes it comes with such undeniable force the manifest presence of god the weight of glory and i've also found sometimes it comes like the cloud the size of a hand you know and it's a matter of that stewardship and it's like and those things grow like that is king the kingdom of god is advancing right but but the experience in god i think sometimes it does it comes in such an obvious way and sometimes it's a matter of getting the small seed and recognizing this seed is going to grow there is an oak tree here what does it look like to carry and care for the the bit that i've been given you know and i think in these corporate worship settings as well as in our daily life it's it's the god what have you given what do i have i remember early on feeling like i would wait for these big encounters and sometimes it would come like big encounters but he wanted to grow me in stewardship so sometimes i would get these little moments these little flickers right but it's like it's like giving my attention to it trusting god wants to speak to me like this isn't a matter of me being something enough his desire has always been to be close to his people from the beginning and that garden all the way through to the banquet at the end he wants to be close to his people and i get to carry like whatever it looks like whatever whether it's just a taste and and i get to to lean into that and trust like that is his heart is that we would know and experience him and and the careful like maybe it's the small it's the goosebumps that might run across your skin but that's the presence of god and cherishing that and asking for more knowing he's the good shepherd and he wants to speak he wants to encounter us so what does it look like to even start with this very very small things and to fan that flame to you know to these big encounters big experiences and then it can come in all of these sizes but it's all him it's always him and he always wants to come with me so what does that look like for someone sitting at home today their kids are maybe they've gone off to school for the first time for how many years now you know and i'm in my house listening to the girls what does that look like at home for someone you know i would love to hear what you ladies think is well i think for me it's turning my affection and my attention to him even when i'm doing dishes or i'm waking up in the morning or i'm helping get breakfast or i'm going to work it's the turning my affection of my heart to the presence of god god i love you i'm so grateful for you thank you that you're here would you increase your presence yeah could i know you more you know and and then just seeing what kind of goes from there i think but as a start right yeah i think so i i often um kind of connect it to you know when we know when we're present in the moment with our children or with our husband or our friends or when we're or my our mind is totally somewhere else but you know our kids talking to us and we're like i'm listening so it's like being present with the lord being intentional about you know setting aside whatever it may be setting aside time it may be 15 minutes um i love in my house i will turn on um worship music and i and then you must be listening to yourself no there's a lot of yeah oh my goodness i remember i can't remember the exact song one time i was cleaning think these moments can just be so sweet and just right where we are um and it's it's and we steward them like you said we we've become oh i okay i recognize that's that's him you know like like uh
