Nicole Ari Parker Surprises Boris Kodjoe with a Heartfelt Message

please welcome boris kojo to the tan fam [Applause] hi guys [Music] [Applause] okay [Applause] hey good morning wow all these beautiful beautiful half half faces oh my gosh all the eyes listen okay they are fanning themselves i never okay never in my wildest dreams that i think that i'd have to turn down a hug from boris kojo but we're not allowed to touch it it's a sad state of the world you know i mean why did i get tested 38 times if i can if i can't hug you we have the rules because otherwise i would be in this room all by myself they would be at home watching from tv and you wouldn't be able to sit here so we follow all of that so i could at least and they could at least be this close grateful does that okay is that okay grateful grateful and you know we're on the same network so um we have all those rigorous safety precautions on set yes yeah because this is i mean this is the world we're in but i'm so grateful and i know you are that we're back at work yes we're back with our friends and colleagues and and being able to have this place in space that we could not have imagined two years ago i was like oh my goodness i'll be doing a podcast and you know with no dips to podcast but that's what i thought you have no idea how sick i am of zooming yes right i am so sick of zooming i can't i see a zoom link and i'm like are you kidding me dude so when you zoom do you get groomed up or you go like no we have a you know an office in our house and that's where we zoom and i've been zooming for two years now and um i wear less and less because why why at first you put on the suit and everything is all you know my wife makes sure that i shave and everything is straight and then after a while you take the jacket off and then after a while you take the pants off because oh my god nobody sees it but take the pictures to my audience really you're good and after a while my kids are so embarrassed now the way i zoom is like literally it they're they have to leave because they're so embarrassing you know what i can't put on a thing anymore i'm basically butt naked now [Applause] it's almost you mentioned your lovely wife uh nicole ari parker i think we have something from her can we play that we do yeah even though boris is probably very surprised right now he's cracking up because he knows that this is probably take 32 at least of this video yeah and he's right and that's one of the many reasons why he's beautiful on the inside out he's patient and kind and loving and funny and one of the best dads in the world and he's the kind of guy who can literally [Applause] do you have pet names for each other yes what are they i i can't share that i mean that would be wildly inappropriate okay i wasn't ready for all of this all right so you're gonna hold that to the vest a big part of what we said the show is really about is when you lend your name your heart and everything to causes obviously you and nicole came out with sophie's story being diagnosed with spina bifida and spreading the word and the foundation um what was that like and what is it like now all these years later being on the forefront of celebrities talking about it um you know i think that when you have a platform obviously it comes with a lot of perks but i think what's important to realize and be accountable for the responsibility you have to use it for good and um you know with with the kojo family foundation it was a very interesting transition went from sophie's voice to kojo family foundation because um yes sophie was diagnosed with spina bifida and she's unbelievably confident and uh beautiful and smart and uh speaks three languages uh 16 year old who like i said who bosses everybody around and also uh you know i think it's it's important to mention that a couple years ago i think she was 11. she said to nicole and i said you know guys i would i understand why you started the sophie's voice foundation because you wanted to again you wanted to raise awareness around the issue and birth defects in general but you know did you ever think about me not necessarily wanting to be defined just by one thing oh wow and we were like whoa right i'm so sorry right so we changed the name from sophie's voice to the kojo family foundation because yes we are that's amazing i mean because none of us want to be one-dimensional and she and she's not she's many things that she's definitely not defined well she gets it from her parents obviously because you've got as i want to talk about before you go station 19 your show not afraid to take on hard conversations put frontline and first responders out there what is it like for you because that's another big responsibility these are real people's lives it's an honor to portray these real-life superheroes especially in the past two years they've been so instrumental in keeping us safe putting their lives on the line every single day i want to give kudos to krista vernov and and shonda rhimes and then debbie allen women who have led grey's anatomy and station 19 fearlessly yeah who have um you know who who don't shy away from speaking the truth and and talking about issues that are important to us that we have to deal with every single day and that's truly courageous i mean shonda has changed the way we watch tv period 100 and to be a part of that world is is just an honor truly awesome well congratulations on everything tell nicole congratulations on sex in the city leading roles oh i love you nicole come by i'll beg i'll be right i'll be right over i'll see you in a second she's in in in the place around the corner so i'll be there well he's headed around the corner you don't go anywhere you
