in this video I'm breaking down my experiences and the differences between Nicks boots wh's boots and JK boots this is a full PMW breakdown I'm going to go into the pros and cons that I see with each of these Brands kind of who they suit best and I'm also going to share with you the one shocking thing that all three of these brands have in common I'll start off with NYX and I have had three pairs of Nyx boots in the past there's the MTO here the Tactical and I've also had experience with their Americana which is a captoe service boot probably the most uh similar to my personal style and I ended up selling that one off a little while ago but I'll throw some pictures up of it and also share my experience with it as well so with nix's boots I think you get the most variety of of all these Brands NYX has the greatest variety of different styles and they they really bridge the gap between Heritage and workware so they have a ton of work boots like this MTO this is an amazing work boot right here they also have a lot of Heritage Styles and they do a lot with different tanneries that are really interesting I know they have a lot of wicked and Craig Leathers they do a lot of different Leathers I know they work with tanneries to develop special Leathers just for their boots so that's not something you're going to get necessarily with whites or with JK so if you are just like a big time leather nerd then NYX is a really interesting brand for you that you might enjoy checking them out now one of the downsides with Nix is that they do release so much that if you're not super knowledge if you're not very knowledgeable about all the different like what a last is and how a mson last is different than a you know this other type of last it can kind of get confusing I think that they do expect a certain level of Knowledge from their customers sometimes I get confused on their site uh be like what what does that even mean not saying that's anything bad necessarily about them that is just something that if you're not an experienced boot buyer and you don't know all the different bells and whistles that might trip you up when you're on their site and so that's actually that's something that's cool could be a downside could be an upside depends on who you are really in this video I'm not going to end up saying one brand is better than the other I'm just going to kind of lay out what I see from these Brands uh to help you so if you're deciding between these three you know the PMW work boots has a whole new level both in terms of quality and in terms of price so this is mainly just to like all right what kind of buyer are you what do you want uh and hopefully I can help you find what you want from from these three brands now probably the boot I wore the most from Nix was the Americana I did have a hard time breaking that one in partially that was because that was one of my first PMW boots so I was not you know I was used to good your weled boots but again you go to a PMW boot it's a whole new category and they're absolute tanks probably hardest part about breaking in those boots was the hor wax flesh leather that leather is stiff it does take a while that wax it is a stiff leather right out of the box so and there's a lot of leather so that took me a while to break in so I didn't wear them as often as I probably would I have another pair of boots but then I recently got their mtoe and I put up a huge MTO video uh comparing a bunch of different brands and this NYX is definitely the most durable mtoe I have ever personally seen or worn and I will say even for a heavy heavyduty work boot this was easy to break in I didn't experience any discomfort at all with this boot nor did I experience any discomfort with their tactical boot another thing about ncks that I think is really cool and really interesting is they're not afraid to try new things they're very Innovative so this tactical boot you know a lot of you know guys who are into Heritage boots they might not like this because this has kind of like a rubber some sort of composite midsole and then it's got like foam in the out soole so some people might be like oh it's not all leather and and cork or or what all natural materials so they might not like that but I think that's just a really cool thing to do this is the most durable tactical boot that you can find if you compare this to like an Oakley or any of those other tactical boots that a lot of like service members actually wear it's a joke these are so much more durable and and insane compared to those so I really appreciate I really like that NYX is so Innovative and they're not stuck into just like all right we only make work boots or we only make Heritage boots in a certain way it's like no they they just want to make really good boots and they're willing to take chances and take risks and do that so that's one really cool thing about ncks now I teased a little bit earlier that all three of these brands have something in common and it's that they all go really well with a pair of camel City Mill Work Soxs now right here I have our bestselling lightweight this has over 300 f-star reviews we've had over 10,000 customers who work in the trades wear fatty work boots like this they love our socks for a few key reasons reason number one this is Ironside Marino wool most wool is a singles type yarn which basically means it's one thread if you think about a single piece of spaghetti you just break that easy we use a multiplied filament and so that makes it iron side that's kind of our proprietary secret sauce right there and just like you get a bundle of spaghetti it's way harder to break kind of the same concept if we're going to talk about it in pasta terms so basically because we use Ironside Marino wool our socks are up to 50% more durable than normal Marino wool socks plus we have a double plated nylon fortification in the toe and in the heel and that is super super helpful cuz those are the most high abrasion areas and nylon is a super abrasion resistant material so because it's double plated you got a fat pair of work boots like this you're crouching over you know you're doing a lot of hard work well you're not going to get holes in the heel or the toe when you're wearing these socks and I believe that so much that we actually back these socks with a 10-year durability guarantee so if you get a hole in one in the first 10 years s them back we'll give you brand new ones free charge that's what we do that's reason number one reason number two they definitely help your feet stop sweating that's one because Marino wool is the best sweat waking material you can have in a pair of socks it is 35% better than polyester or cotton at waking sweat also we have a really cool feature called the no sweat vent because we use that really durable ironide Marino wool you can weave that vent up top a little bit thinner that allows a lot of heat and moisture to escape and your feet certainly won't sweat if you have a leather-lined or an unlined boot like a NYX a whites JK Etc reason number four these are 100% usamade like all these boots uh so if you enjoy a usamade pair of boots you should definitely get a pair of usamade socks and like I said the lightweight this is the our bestseller it's the one I wear every single day it's my favorite version and because of the height of the sock you know it definitely works with a 10-in boot 12-in boot 8in boot food whatever you got any order over $50 it ships for free we also ship within 24 hours so get your camel City Mill socks now using the first link in the description down below now let's move on to whites so the first pair of boots I got from whites is this whites Packer right here and then the second one I ended up getting is the whites Perry so honestly I think of these three brands I knew I wasn't going to say like I I prefer one of the over the other so what I like about whites and really where I think you should if if you're going to get a pair of whites where you should focus on is one of their lines that has this sort of rolled welt this is a really interesting construction and I think I I'm pretty sure whites is the only they're definitely the only brand I've ever seen that on a commercial scale does this sort of rolled welt which in a way is is a very interesting it's almost like a Goodyear wel with Stitch down at the same time and it's a super labor intensive process they do it by hand I went to whites in Spokane I visited their Factory I saw the a worksman like doing this and I was kind of Blown Away I didn't even know this is a way you could make boots but whites is the only one who's still doing this so if you're you're going to get a pair of whites honestly get one of these boots that has this sort of rolled well it's a very unique look and you can kind of just tell by looking at any of the pictures online if it's done in this way it's typically their more expensive uh boots that they do this on but I think for that reason just being a boot nerd I'm glad I have this boot because it's a unique construction and I don't know how how much longer it's going to be around now on the downside whites has been striving to be more affordable and appeal to a wider audience they came out with boots like the Perry right here which is you know a very popular MTO but honestly when I look at these two boots and when I compare them to each other it's like they're from two different brands so to me wh's kind of I know I wasn't going to say like I like one brand over the other or anything like that but to me whites is kind of at the they're my least favorite because the whites Perry just wasn't doing it for me to me I'd rather get a Redwing classic mock than this one for me Redwing just does a much better job at having a unique last and a unique shape and more interesting in Dynamic Leathers so for that reason like in terms of just the mock toes Redwing classic mock definitely does it more for me than the whites Perry and if you want to see more on that I did have that big mocko boot comparison video that I put out and that goes into all the details on the other hand whites does come out with some super super cool collaboration boots they do interesting Leathers kind of like NYX does but yeah I think just NYX goes farther into that realm of unique interesting Styles unique interesting Leathers I think NYX pushes that a little bit farther so I'll say if you see a style from whites that you really like like go for it I mean this boot is is nuts it is insane and like I said with that rolled well like that is something super unique and something I really love about whites and you can only get it with them so that's a really cool reason to go with whites plus I think their their lead times are lower if they even have them they have a lot more in stock which is a big benefit to shopping with whites if you're comparing all three and then lastly I'm going to talk about JK boots uh JK boots I have this is their climber which is very similar to their Superduty boot it's got a couple uh bells and whistles that make it unique for arborists and people who do tree work so I have the climber and then I also have their OT so I'll put up some pictures of me wearing the OT as well so I did end up giving the OT to a friend because he needed a pair of work boots pretty badly and the OT is my favorite work boot so even though I I did give it away like it was it was my favorite work boot uh and I loved wearing it the reason why I like the OTS say compared to you know the Superduty or some of these other boots that are like really really heavy duty work boots it's like when I work in the backyard I'm like chopping a log you know I'm not out there for 20 hours being a wild and firefighter or anything like that so I don't need like the heaviest work boot of all time why I like the OT and why is my favorite work boot and I think this is something unique and Innovative that JK is doing and I I I personally love it it's that on the bottom of the OT they use a linesman shank which is basically like a half Leather midsole So in the Forefront of the boot when you're crouching you know and and you're you're you're crouching down like this you don't have that fat leather midsole that can kind of add extra pressure and make the top of your toes hurt it's just the vram rubber lug out soole right there which is very flexible and in addition to that cutting out that extra leather also takes out a significant amount of weight I don't know exactly how much weight but it does reduce the weight of the boot overall so the OT is immediately comfortable very easy to break in and also it's pretty lightweight but it's still got the heart and soul of a PMW boot so to me it it was kind of the when I first started with PMW boots in general I went with the work boots cuz that's what they're known for and the OT was kind of the first one I was like all right this has got the heart and soul the the Stitch down construction it looks super rugged it's got that the more bulbous toe it's got all the things that people love about PMW work boots but it's a little bit lighter it's more comfortable right away and it's something that I can just like quickly slip on and get my housework done and go to the yard and get them things done that I need to get done so for me personally that's why the OT is my favorite work boot I also have the climber here and this was pretty much I mean this is this is an incredible boot I don't ever really wear it because it is like the fattest work boot and it's got this fatty composite toe it's got the huge leather midsole it's got the amazing stack leather heel you know it's a tank dude this thing is heavy this thing is awesome I just don't personally have any use cases for it that's not like a knock against this boot at all it's just you know I I type for a living so typing is not particularly physically arduous work but another cool thing about the climber boot is it does have the lineman's patch right here which is basically just another piece of leather sewn onto the upper and that just if you're wearing gaffs climbing a tree or climbing a pole or anything like that that just kind of helps the Gaff not rub and destroy the in or the inside of that boot that's just another piece of leather kind of like to but just right on the side so that's a cool thing I can't remember how much customization whites does I know NYX you can you can kind of scroll through and select a bunch of different stuff JK you can certainly get a lot of customization done in terms of both sizing and then just what you add to the boot JK also does pretty cool like you can add any sort of like branding to yours so if you're part of an organization uh you can they already have a bunch that you can add your own so if you're part of a union or or whatever you can add your own uh kind of branding onto that as well so I think that's something that's really cool so overall if I was going to break this down and kind of give like a one- sentence pitch for each of these Brands and and what they're good at and maybe what they're they're less good at NYX has got the most variety certainly if you're into Heritage style and more like fashionable boots NYX has definitely got a huge variety there and that would be the brand I would look at first especially if you're a big time leather nerd and you want to go deep and you know a ton about boots and you're ready to you're ready to go in then check out Nicks whites if you want the shortest lead times if you want something that's in stock personally I would stay away from their Goodyear weled stuff not because it's bad it is great but I just think that Redwing does a better job at least on the goody your wealth side what I would do instead is I would check out a pair of whites that has that sort of rolled wealth and I forget exactly what it's called but it's kind of like a if a good your WTH and Stitch down hat a baby it's a super interesting construction method whites is the only ones who do it and if they have a boot in particular that's in stock and you want it and it looks cool like whites they're a good brand and then for JK if you want a pair of work boots if you want to kind of simplify the process and you're just like hey like listen I need a fantastic pair of work boots that's going to last me many many years then JK has all the options very clearly laid out for you so you can kind of find what you need get it make sure you get the right size that you you know whatever size you need and even if you're like a 15le e guy you can get a pair of boots from JK that's going to work for you so they're a great brand for that and then they also if you're into cowboy boots they also have JK Western so they make some sick looking cowboy boots as well so yeah so that's basically an overview of all three different brands I hope you found this video helpful uh really just kind of wanted to break down my experiences with these Brands and what I felt their strengths and weaknesses were so that if you you are deciding to buy one of these or or you know over the other I know it can be confusing so this is just my experiences is what I kind of find the each brand excels at uh so depending on what kind of buyer you are and what you're looking for hopefully this definitely helps you now if your mind is blown by all the boot research information you've been doing and you just want something great to put on your feet then I definitely recommend a pair of camel City Mill Work socks get those in the first link in the description down below
