hey yo Nate you made this [Music] [Music] I thought playing basketball you know when I was younger I used to watch a lot of LeBron you know I wanted someone something to keep my like hands busy with so I don't have to do other things or like Game of Thrones but other things or other people so you know I started playing basketball at a young age probably because of LeBron or like just everybody around me was athletes so I had to choose something I'm Jason Jones background background I started a car I went to college University Arkansas at Pine Bluff got to do a little time in the NFL after that with the Buffalo Bills Green Bay Packers I went to CFL for a year for the BC Lions and played five years Arena I got into basketball when I moved to Texas after going back and getting my degree I worked at Mo Williams Academy and I got to train you know some of the top pro athletes Mo Williams oh my God [Applause] wow and the MVP of this series with an average of 26 points and almost 10 rebounds a game Dirk Nowitzki you know and just a playthrough of other people you know craziest thing I've been neat and a football camp his dad me his dad worked football camps together he told me that he wanted to get into you know some basketball training so he came to the gym and since ninth grade we've been getting to it I met him he didn't have no he didn't have any game whatsoever but you know we did our time in the gym we grinded it out we had our tough days our easy days and now we get to see the fruits of the labor he put in like this has nothing to do with me it's all for him uh my trainer coach Jason Jones uh I first met him coming out of covet going into my freshman year you know I wasn't really good back then but since I met him I feel like he really helped me develop my game a lot countless hours in the gym working hard doing everything we can you know I see my game progress other have to you know I feel like he he played a big role in my development in my game foreign blow up during the summer my first two live periods for three SSB I performed very well I got about 15 offers in like one month or less than that so I feel like that's when I really blew up I feel like my name was kind of out there last year but not too much it was kind of out there you know but like this year I feel like I really blown up on the national National stage um my first offer came from Tulsa um I attended the Tulsa camp like a week or two weeks before I got my offer um the coach called me you know when he called me and um he told me that he liked my game like what he seen me do and like when he gave me an offer I started crying on my first offer you know because uh I didn't even know I was going to keep playing basketball so that was my first offer I was really excited you know I told my dad you know he said I should be excited I just decided the whole day uh those seven schools consisted of Texas Miami Virginia Tech TCU um Auburn Texas Houston I feel like I never down drive seven because you know those are schools that show like they want me as a priority you know that I could play in playing early you know um real development game and take it to the next stage I just really look for like a family atmosphere you know where everybody's a family you know uh I really look for where I can develop my game to the next level someone that's going to help me develop 24 but say this song yeah my dad played in NFL you know he played Four Seasons you know three with the um Steelers one with the lines you know I feel like my dad played in the NFL it was a lot of pressure on me growing up to be a football player but he didn't force it on me other people was trying to make me be a football player but he didn't force it you know I played one season I was pretty good but that just wasn't for me him being a football player helped me develop my basketball game because during covet we used to go to the um field every day and do Speed and Agility training and then once I hit my growth spurt I had my I had everything I had Speed and Agility and um height so I was good I was set so I feel like my dad been in the NFL helped me a lot I don't feel like I got no pressure going to the league you know uh if I make it to lead that's great you know there's been a childhood dream but if I don't you know I'm gonna get my degree I might find a good job you know but there's no pressure my dad went to the league he did what he did I feel like people know we're two different people now especially that we're not in the same sport so I don't feel any impression there politician stuff so I don't look into that that much but I just know I got to keep grinding and stay humble if you graduated I don't remember anything no that's fine you've been here for four years but after that I didn't know like if I wanted to play basketball no more like I was really probably gonna quit at that summer didn't turn out good like basketball is probably gonna be over but you know last summer I played with um I play with Showtime no I play with Southern I play with Southern assault I got some looks that's when I got my first offer so I was like it's working so I'm gonna keep going oh it keeps me motivated you know uh my brother my brother keep me motivated a lot just seeing whatever what he had to go through you know um his challenges and his sport his football and being at college and stuff that just motivates me you know um not one of my parents to ever work again uh you know my mom probably the hardest worker I know like everything she's done for me like what she's been through like my mom probably the toughest person I know so like I don't want her to work no more like at all so I want to make sure she said you know I just want to make sure all my family's set my last year high school I just want to um going for Gatorade Player of the Year in Texas you know trying to be the best player in Texas um obviously I want to leave my um Team to a state championship something that hasn't been done and like I just want the world to know like that Newman Smith is on the map because most people don't know about us at all so like I just want everybody to know not for me like I got what I got I want my teammates to get what I get like I want them to get offers I want them to get recognition so I just went I just want them to have what I had and for
