The problem isn't even that people were more offended than Andrew. People can decide their own level of offense. My problem is that some people were attacking Andrew, who was the freaking victim. This is why where social justice advocates sometimes hurt their cause. Focus on the bad guy, the guy who said the stuff. Stop attacking the victim just because he dared to be forgiving. Forgiveness is a normal human response. Entire world religions are built on the concept. I would argue that the majority of people in the world believe in the concept of forgiveness. The more energy they spend tearing down the good guys, the less energy they have to confront the real evil out there.
I don't always agree with Maher, and it's not like I watch his show on any regular basis... but I like that he is both very liberal, but also willing to think independently and loudly speak out when his own opinion doesn't agree with mainstream liberal orthodoxy. His recent piece about obesity was a good example.
I have at least some respect for anybody willing to be an independent thinker.
And I like that even while ranting about something, he usually has a few lines to help keep things at least semi fair / in perspective. Like during the obesity thing, talking about how we shouldn't act like it's the only vice and lots of people have something wrong (like his former drinking habit).
Holy shit. What a good video. edit: I havenβt found anything on the internet this genuinely invigorating and hilarious in a while.
Nice
I don't like this guy that much, but this was fuckin killer material! If it was imdb I'd give it a 10/10
This was the best bill maher monologue Iβve ever heard

As far as I know that was the first time he spoke of Yang positively as well
Edit: I know as much as Jon Snow
Why Yang is awesome, apolitical, doesnβt play identity politics, focuses on the issues/policy
