hey y'all it's lonnie and welcome back to my channel the homeschool help me this is my little space on the internet where i help families transition to homeschool and overcome their homeschooling struggles in today's video i'm going to share with you our homeschool space our homeschool room so first of all let me start off by saying you do not have to have a homeschool room to be an effective homeschooler last year was our first year homeschooling and we did not have a homeschool room we just had a designated area where we did our homeschool and that worked perfectly fine this year since i have more learners at home i decided that we needed an entire room and i wanted to be a little bit extra i wanted to buy some extra things so i'm homeschooling my niece this year who is in kindergarten and i also have my older kids here doing their e-learning thing so everyone needed a solid space to do their schoolwork and to study so i'm going to share with you today what we have turned into our homeschool room enjoy [Music] so i want you guys to know that this is our homeschool space in its truest form i didn't especially clean up or make anything nice and sparkly for you at the end of the day every day i do have the kids clean up the room so this is how it looks when we come in um and then every you know week or so then i'll kind of deep clean and really uh reorganize everything but i haven't done that yet so you are getting a real and raw view of our home school space let's get started okay everyone this is our homeschool space you can see everything and we don't have a door it leads out into a hallway in our house we used to have a curtain up here we might put it back but who knows all right so when we first walk in you see our rabbit cage and all the rabbit supplies this is perfect because it's like having a class pet our rabbit's not in there right now she's actually in her travel cage over here which we need to clean but there she is so usually when the girls come in the morning the first thing they do is say hi to the rabbit so one thing i love about our homeschool space is we have a ton of windows and light so i try to utilize those windows as a wall space so here is where we are counting how many days we've been in school we are actually a couple days behind on this we need to update it and then we do our weather and calendar every day and this is a great spot to do it because we can see outside we can see our veggie garden growing out there and i just stuck the stuff on the windows with some sticky tack and that seems to be holding up well i did have some velcro dots but the hot florida sun is kind of melting those off a little bit on the other door we use it as display and this is also our prayer wall so we have pray for yourself and pray for others and then how to pray we haven't added anything in there yet um we could write it down but i've been more so focused on the skill of teaching the girls how to pray and how to pray for themselves as well as others so eventually we will get to the point where we're writing things down and we put it in there next to that i have this big magnetic board if you have a little uh like a kindergartner even a first grader pre-k this is great this is just an oil drip pan from my local hardware store it may have cost me 15 bucks but it's magnetic and i have all these magnetic letters down here so that we can practice different spelling words spelling our names and all kinds of stuff and then it's just fun for them to have too i have some just like little uh magnets and toys that they can play with here this is my bookshelf um right now it's not the most organized i need to come back in here and reorganize it but this is where i keep most of the books we have several places in our home to have different books so they're kind of all over but this is what we're currently using at this time um and i got these little what do you call these file folder things corrugated file folders these are from amazon and they're filled with different things like the ones on the top they are records from last year and these are empty waiting for records for this year and these down here one has um all the stuff that we use for our morning routine so i guess in a sense our morning basket our see and the girls are in charge of putting this up so see how that looks all of our um states we have some books in there um math and all of that good stuff and then this one is just um instructions for different electronics that we have in our home school space and i did buy this really cool microscope this year we haven't looked through it yet but um we have a lot of mushrooms popping up in our neighborhood so we're probably going to clip some and look under there all right next to that is our piano space or keyboard space we just got this this year and we're just starting to work on uh keyboarding and music we have this huge window back here that we use to display the girls artwork and of course our handy dandy alexa all right and then we also use this space for our learning so right now we're working on our space unit so we have this kwl chart here but this window is amazing there's so much space and then you can see your trampoline in the backyard there's so much space on that window okay this is my favorite piece of homes our homeschool room is this table we got this ginormous table from ikea i think it originally was like 300 but it was on sale for 50 off and you know most furniture from ikea is pretty flimsy but this one is really really sturdy it's easy to clean and then of course we got these little chairs from ikea i'm missing one this is my daughter's chair from last year she wanted that in here so we took out that fourth ikea chain and put her really cheering here all right this is our carpet space we got this little carpet from ikea too so when the girls are working independently they definitely um come on this carpet or if they're playing any sort of games with one another keep going around i have a bean bag over here oops some of our art fell down bean bag and i have these cute little pillows with all sort of sayings on them i got these from amazon i'll link those down below this bean bag i've had for a long time since i was a classroom teacher so we just got some more beans and refilled it and made it nice and stuffy so here are the girls cubbies so they're kind of color coordinated so my kindergartner has a purple and my third grader has pink here we have some baskets this one is all like reading tools and manipulatives and on this side we have naturals and manipulatives and my third grader's stuff was too heavy so she has two cubbies going on here up top i left one of these open these are our art folders so as we take down the art off of our giant wall they put it in here in their art folders and as well as any worksheets or anything that i print out in advance i can store them there um this basket we used last year for a morning basket this year it's kind of just uh a catch-all it has some books in it some things that we can't fit in our morning basket some things we use every day whiteboard there's a sticker book some maps all kind of stuff in there okay another little cool space we have this futon in here and again those cute little pillows um all of this stuff is from amazon futon is so cute and at first when we got it we didn't like it because it was so small but it's perfect kid size so it works great in our classroom space and then another bean bag and this pillow says be brave all right then over here is kind of my junk corner i don't want to show you but i'm going to show you this is my art cart so if you've been following me for a while you probably have seen the video of me creating this art cart and now it is a hot mess i need to reorganize everything we did buy lots of new art supplies and kind of just threw them in there and we've been doing a lot of art lately so it gets really messy really fast so we need to work on that over here it's kind of like my prep space so i have extra things that i'll use so my lamination machine my lamination sheets my velcro stickies there's folders there's extra supplies extra dry erase markers and all that stuff in there uh we do have this giant tv in our room we use it a lot to uh screencast when we are looking at videos for art or listening to a book or watching something that we need to watch for school down below this is also the kids hangout room so we have our uh playstation down here but there are some games down there and uh just kind of things that won't really fit in a spot we put them under here okay this we need to clean and organize too so this is where we uh hang our stuff for bible i got these giant sticky notes they're not super big but they're not super small but i got those from amazon two for a pretty good deal so we're writing our keys of truth on there to go with our bible curriculum this is the supply area so the girls supplies are in here in this little caddy i love this caddy this is also from amazon the only thing i would do to make it better is put like a lazy susan on the bottom so that it spins around but all of these little buckets come out it's been working well to make sure that they keep their supplies pretty separate and that there's no arguing we do need to go through and clean it up a little bit but that's where it is right now of course every home school needs a pencil sharpener make sure you get one i got this little electric one from of course amazon last year and it's still going strong these are the girls as prize buckets as well as their individual art supplies so up top we just use these little books for our sticker books and i just got these blank books from target and i got these pencil boxes from walmart and inside i'm kind of scared to open it because they just store all kinds of stuff let's see all right it's not that bad okay so inside they have like their oil pastels in here um they do have some gel pens they aren't in this one but they have those independent so some of their supplies i keep together and some they have to be separate or else they'll fight and inside of there is their prize buckets and again if you want to know how we do rewards in our home school check out the video linked below but i do let the girls pick out their own supplies and that my friends is it your home school space does not have to be perfect it does not have to be complicated it doesn't even have to be a space last year we didn't have a space we just used actually a little area of this room like where this uh cage is that's the area we used to homeschool we just had a desk and all of our stuff there but this year i we had the opportunity to expand and i wanted to do so so i hope this was helpful for you i hope this gave you a real live view of a homeschool room not a perfect school room but definitely a space
