hello and welcome to the channel it's Lee from Duck and well magazine today we're going to be speaking about Porsche Macan electric today we're going to be covering Porsche Eternal combustion engines EVS how's it going to work in your region and two the new electric platform three the new Macan design what's it going to look like inside and out and finally technology batteries fast charging and kilowatt capacity the electric Porsche Macan is set to become one of the hottest EVS of 2024. the McCann electric being one of its major derivatives of the brand is something they must get right it was initially scheduled to commence in June 2022 as per the 2019 product plan however the date has been postponed along with two other tentative date launchers it is now anticipated to be unveiled at the 2023 Los Angeles Motor Show in November this year as confirmed by CEO Oliver bloom during the company's annual press conference the vehicle is scheduled to be available to customers in 2024. Porsche's new model strategy involves offering a choice of electric or petrol Hybrid models for the vehicle this approach is collected in their decision to offer the new macarn in both electric and Ice powered versions it demonstrates that Porsche is not yet fully committed to complete electrification acknowledging that not everyone is ready for it instead the company plans to focus on marketing its electric Macan in markets where there is greater demand for electric vehicles now let's look at that Demand on this map the 2021 sales figures Thai car sales figures you can see that Europe and Asia Pacific have a high percentage of take-up of electric vehicles and here in 2022 you can see the SUVs take the Lion's Share of sales Porsche's decision to invest in both electric and combustion engine Technologies puts the brand in a difficult position chairman Oliver Bloom acknowledges this and has stated that the convergence of the two platform strategies won't happen for a few years Porsche is keeping a close eye on how different regions are developing and tailoring their product strategy accordingly by offering both petrol hybrid and electric options by 2025 Porsche expects that half of its sales will come from electric vehicles and now don't forget the Porsche is investing heavily in an e-fuel option yeah you're right we are investing in air fuels synthetic fuels done by a renewable energy we are producing hydrogen combined to air captured CO2 producing green methanol and then coming to petrol which we can use for all our cars they are still exists on the roads or our new combustion engine cars like the 911. pushes Dr Michael Steiner reiterated the company's strategy to cater to different customer preferences by offering both electric and petrol options for the Macan will the Macan feature petrol hybrid it's much more likely that they'll continue the internal combustion engine and run the McConnell electric alongside it offering the two options he stated that the combustion engine version of the Macan would continue to be available for the foreseeable future alongside the all-electric model let's talk architecture with PPE Porsche and Audi have developed an architecture for all electric cars the benefits of a purely electric platform are vast in terms of package the architecture offers so much room to maneuver in the wheelbase track width and ground clearance that it can be used to create a variety of models in different segments which most importantly allows the flexibility for Porsche models to retain their strong independent character the first Porsche based on the PPE will be the all-electric Macan with its 800 volt architecture the powerful electric motors of the latest generation and state-of-the-art battery and charge management this model offers e-performance that is Porsche this successor to the very successful compact SUV will be the sportiest model in its segment it will feature reproducible best-in-class performance values long range capability and high performance fast charging whilst the PPE architecture can offer both two-wheel and four-wheel drive the all-electric Macan on the 800 volt architecture will be four-wheel drive for the top variants the engineers are creating a dynamic sporty driving experience with fully variable electronically controlled rear differential and what is known as a performance rear axle added to this is a powerful electric motor positioned behind the rear axle this enables a rear dominant all-wheel drive application across a wide spectrum in combination with the dynamic torque distribution in the all-wheel drive it also supports High agility when accelerating outer Corners sources suggest that the electric Macan will be available with two battery sizes 96 and 115 kilowatt hours this should provide a driving range of approximately 300 miles to 425 miles which is in kilometers 483 kilometers to 684 kilometers on a single charge according to our sources the model lineup will likely include variants with different battery capacities to cater for varying driver requirements according to insiders the electric Macan model liner is predicted to feature three specs that mirror the combustion Porsche range and are similar to the taikon's lineup these are the Macan e with 400 horsepower 294 kilowatt the macarth 4S with 500 horsepower 368 kilowatt and the Macan Turbo with 600 horsepower 440 kilowatt there are also rumors circulating about about a high performance 750 horsepower 552 kilowatt Turbo S GT variant in development the electric McCann's battery can reportedly be charged from five to eighty percent in just 18 minutes using a rapid charging plug one notable conventional technology feature on the Macan electric is the availability of air suspension which is uncommon in this vehicle segment this option will enable policy to customize the chassis settings for either Comfort or sportiness as well as adjust the ride height for off-roading or loading according to Andreas Huber the manager for digital prototypes at Porsche his team has been working on aerodynamics of the Macan for about five years in the virtual world using simulations he emphasized that low drag is fundamental for the electric model to achieve long range according to Porsches Dr Michael Steiner the PPE architecture is distinct latest headlight technology looking similar to the updated take iron the front of the electric car features a less prominent Grille flanked by two cutouts that will likely house a pair of LED fog lights redesigned bumpers more aggressive looking air intakes are moved lower down into the front bumper it is expected to have a sloping roof line and slim tail lights that may be connected by the full width light bar which Echoes Porsches modern design Style so what's to expect from the Porsche Macan electrics interior there's going to be a less busy cockpit with only three of the five round gauges in the main instrument pod gone are the cluttered switch gear and the cram Center stack there's a big new multi-function Center display but the familiar sport Chrono option is ever present just like other cars in the Porsche lineup okay coming back to the PPE the system output will initially go up to around 450 kilowatt with a maximum torque of more than 1 000 newton meters Porsche is deploying the 800 volt technology for the next McCann generation this ensures consistent high performance significantly reduces charging time and lowers the weight of the high voltage cables and the space required for them another common feature are the permanently excited synchronous electric motors PSM with hairpin winding used by Porsche in this design the rotor of the AC motor is fitted with permanent magnets that generate a permanent magnetic field in the motor in comparison to asynchronous Motors ASM psms offer higher power and torque densities greater efficiency and better reproducibility of the power output meaning you can do launch control all day long at a suitably powerful fast charging station the battery charge level can be increased from five to eighty percent in less than 25 minutes if the charging station is using 400 volt technology the all-electric Macan uses bank charging for the first time this effectively splits the 800 volt battery into two batteries with a normal voltage of 800 volts each it can be charged in parallel to one 400 volt charging station without an additional HP booster if necessary the states of charge of the two battery halves are first aligned before they are charged together silphon housing Engineers conducting extensive program testing have been frequently spotted all around the world covering 2 million miles for durability testing Porsche has been to the north Slifer and the Arctic Circle in the Macan electric Porsche is making analysis every year on how the markets are developing their making and taking action for
